Taylor Lockwood learns the hard way that her beauty does not guarantee happiness. Betrayed in the worst possible way, her career crumbles overnight. Taylor hides away on her father’s small ranch where she struggles to trust again, but a message in a bottle gives her second thoughts. Is the man who wrote the note too good to be true… and more importantly, does she have the courage to find out? About this Would you share your heartbreak, your hopes, your dreams by writing them down and sending them off in a bottle? Or if you found such a bottle, how would you react? This series takes us inside the lives of people who, in most cases, have suffered loss and are ready for a second chance. A light, slightly edgy look at life and love in today’s world of social media. The first of these stories is Chasing Rainbows.
Mona Ingram is the author of over 60 romance novels, including twelve novellas. Many of her stories take place in British Columbia, where she has lived since the age of twelve. In recent years she has lived in the Okanagan Valley and on Vancouver Island. In addition to reading and writing, traveling and bird watching are among Mona's favourite pastimes.
When Taylor Lockwood found the bottle on the banks of the river on her father’s property, she was at first annoyed at finding someone’s rubbish. But when she noticed the rolled paper inside, she was intrigued. Taylor was ‘hiding out’ at her father’s ranch after a particularly brutal betrayal by the man she thought she loved. She had little trust in men and was in the process of deciding whether to head into a new career or continue the one she’d been doing since she was eighteen.
Quinn, a lawyer and widower, and his eleven-year-old daughter Francie were close, and when Francie discovered a new website with the theme ‘Love in a Bottle’ she was fascinated by the premise. Her father agreed – a little reluctantly – to follow the guidelines and the bottle was sent. When he received an email from someone called Taylor, Quinn assumed the person was male. Would Quinn contact Taylor? And if so, what would be the outcome for him and Francie? Were they just chasing rainbows?
Chasing Rainbows is the 1st in the Love in a Bottle series by Mona Ingram and it was light and entertaining. I enjoyed the characters, including Sammy the rescue dog, and Jasmine the very intelligent horse, and found Chasing Rainbows a delightful read. Recommended.
Quote: " I can't believe I'm actually doing this. My name is Queen and I'm a father of an eleven year old daughter who discovered a website where a columnist entourages people to put down their hopes and dreams, shove them in a bottle and set them free".
It started as an idea of to friends and ended up with a lot of response. Quinn and Taylor are two of them. Both hurt in their own way they start on a new Journey. I liked this read a lot. It made me smile. I Neede an easy read without to mutch drama. This was that read.
The story starts unexpectedly with Taylor finding a bottle in a creek. She originally thinks that it is just garbage. But inside the bottle she finds a letter. A letter which changes her life. The story starts pretty unexpectedly and that was a great bonus. But sometimes I felt like the characters moved into romance very fast for two strangers. But overall, I loved the romance and how it was taken from one situation to another, and the two characters with their quirks were adorable. Liked it.
If you found a message in a bottle, would you read and believe it? That is the premise of this story. Now, I gave it five stars not for necessarily being great literature but for being good for the style of literature it is.
Yes, we have a love story ( or two) but you do expect that. What I liked was the way Taylor handled things when her ex published nude pictures of her online. Not uncommon these days, but how she handled things is different. She didn’t capitalize on the event…no reality tv show, no book, no exposé. She left her modeling world and returned to her dad’s where she could recuperate and take time to reconsider her life’s choices. Then she finds the bottle….
Sweet love stories where you know there Is physical love but done in such a way that graphic language is not needed. While a good love scene is nice, so is one that is understood with the actions portrayed.
This is a series of eight books all based, I assume, on an online columnist’s idea to write down your problems, put them in a bottle, throw it out to the universe and see what happens. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if life was this simple and we all ended up with a sweet love story?
This romance was well-written with some interesting characters. I'm just not a fan of the style. It read almost like a bittersweet drama rather than a romance. I've read this author's work before and thought to give her work another try, but this'll probably be my last book.
One character I absolutely didn't like was the daughter. She was totally unbelievable, unless she was some kind of prodigy. I felt like all the scenes with her were odd. And why was this guy who was a lawyer presented as dumb compared to his kid?
My favorite characters were Damon, Sammy, and Taylor's parents. I loved the setting at the ranch. It was depicted beautifully by the author.
If you enjoy contemporary romance that fits somewhere between full-on romance and women's fiction, but reads almost like a mystery in some places, give this book a try.
I wasn't sure about this series when I read the blurb, but this was a free download, so decided to give it a go....and I LOVED IT! * Is it cheesy? - yes, very and it owns it, embraces it even! * Does it move fast? - yes, but it is fiction so we can! * Is it realistic? - possibly not, but that's what makes it fun, it isn't likely...but it could happen! * Does it have me hooked? - yes completely!
A great evening escape, lighthearted and a little tongue in cheek but a lot of fun and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Book 1 is a free download, books 2-8 are buy and are unfortunately not available on Kindle Unlimited, etc, but I enjoyed book 1 so much that I will buy book 2 and see if it is just as good!
Many things start from an idea, but Lauren's beats all of them. After having her heart broken, she decides to come up with a brilliant idea, that will propell the website she works at, big time.
Love in a bottle, will be a great succes and many people will answer the call set out by Lauren's #Trending website.
In this game of chances, will also fall Valentina a former model and Quinn, a father to an 11 year girl. Finding themselves caught up în the game, they decide to give themselves a new chance at love. But the road to love is paved with lots of secrets and adventures.
Quinn and Taylor's ( Valentina) story will have your heart melting.
The premise is good, but a little too compact, leaving little room for plot and character development. That said, the author does a good job of summarising the story in such a short space.
Quinn and Taylor don't get to know each other before falling in love. The idea of a message in a bottle is great. Taylor's parents get their own second chance, but it's all a little rushed. Overall it's a good concept if a little underdeveloped. The end is heartwarming.
Taylor retreats to her fathers’ ranch after a horrible betrayal by her boyfriend. After a few months, she discovers a note in a bottle, sent as a response to a web site. She meets the sender, a widower who has a delightfully precocious 11 year old daughter. Everyone falls in love, including Taylor’s parents, who had been divorced, with few glitches along the way.
Quinn's daughter shows him an article in their local newspaper about putting a message in a bottle and releasing it into the world to basically get rid of baggage in their lives.
Taylor finds the bottle and her father answers the letter on her behalf.
Quinn shows up at their ranch and immediately hits it off with Taylor. They overcome obstacles to be together.
In these days and times of social media spreading ideas like wildfire, this is an interesting premise for a series. Use social media to spread an idea and challenge people to do something totally "old fashioned" with it. Then of course report back on the website what they did and how it all worked out.
Loved it. Looking forward to reading more from the series. It was a little confusing to follow the storyline but now I get it. You have the story of the people creating the Love in a bottle concept and then you have the people taking up the challenge or receiving the love in a bottle and its consequences. Clever
This is such a fun story. After a bad dating experience, a writer lens a "love in a bottle" column online. It suggests that the reader write down all about themselves, being honest about who they are, what they are hoping for, put it in a bottle and let it --see what happens. This is Bottle Story #1 and it is a fun romance with a happy ending. Just what I love 💘.
Super short book, and I didn't get far ... but it wasn't clicking for me. 3rd person, shifting between a few POVs (Damon, Lauren, Sean ... according to the blurb, the MC is Taylor & Quinn, I guess I just read the prologue and that was enough to turn me off?)
This was so amazing & fun to read. It was a clean romance anyone can read. The characters were amazing & there was no way you were this down until finished. It touches a little on spousal abuse which we to forget about.Amazing author.
A woman healing from a terrible heart ache, finds a Bottle in a creek. She picks up the bottle thinking it's trash, But she doesn't realize how this action. Is going to change her life. And the people that she Loves.
Loved this. Loved the idea of the bottle and the interesting take on how to make newspapers come alive. But the best part was the story of the two couples and the animals and the little girl.
This is such a breathtaking and breathstealing book. It relies on actions and reactions. I love how this played out and can picture each moment just so. Read during the Corona Virus Pandemic of 2020.
The concept was unique (if you got past the littering aspect). The way the protagonists met played well, except what would Quinn have done if Taylor had been a man like he thought? Quinn's 11-y0 daughter was a bit wiser than her age signifies. A light clean read.
What could be more romantic or fated than finding a heartfelt wish to find love in a bottle, that was set adrift in a river. Wounded people slowly heal as hope funds its way into their hearts. The character of Francie is one I'd like to see again.
Didn’t Enjoy 😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😝😝😝😝😗😝😝😗😝😗😝😝😗😝😝😝😗😝😝😝😝😝😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗Didn’t enjoy ... Don’t recommend this book at all. First book I didn’t care for by this author.
Awesome book Great writer. Funny, romantic, real life situations, children, parenting, fashion, lawyers, domestic violence, traveling, Australia, beaches and love. N
This reminds me of he Nicholas sparks book, message in a bottle. This was a very enjoyable book, but so like the other book. Tere was no originality, just different characters
I really enjoyed this excellent story. The premise is intriguing and the first bottle tale was charming with great characters. Looking forward to reading additional bottle tales in the series.
Great start to a new series. I liked the premise of this series, the idea of a letter in bottle. The characters were totally relatable and the story was fun and engaging without the graphic scenes that so many authors seem to think they need to include in their books. On to the next book....
This would have gotten five starts but the opening chapter and chapter after the epilogue were very unneeded and took away from the actual story. It felt like pure info dump.
This was a nice short read. I enjoyed it very much. The only thing that threw me off was Francie, she didn't read as an eleven year old. The conversations just felt like she was older, which was a bit jarring.
