This is a clean romance (more of a women's fiction), and this is the second book in the Cape Pursuit Firefighters series. I have read and review the first book in this series. I have to say the romance in this book was almost not there, and the storyline was good. I think the first 25% of this book was to slow moving, and the ending was so great. The characters in this book was everything. I love getting to really see some of the side characters in the first book come to life, but I wish the romance was a part of this book. I have to say this book did not hold up to the first book in this series, so yes this book let me down. I will read the next book in this series.

I was somewhat disappointed in this book. For it had a great idea but you didn't see the romance happening. Until towards the end. I like what Amie was dealing with. For Laura Wheeler was dealing with a serious issue. She did a excellent job at covering that issue and showing the friendship she had with Tony Ruggles. I like how she showed the way the group of volunteers become a cohesive group. Its well written and has great parts to it. I understand work relationship is hard for there is conflict of interest involved. I like the book as a whole. Its a tricky subject so I get what the story was doing. It was different. But it was written but different. J

Laura Wheeler's brother died fighting forest fires and she still feels guilty about having told him about that summer job. When she decides to train to be a volunteer firefighter, it never occurs to her that she might be attracted to the fire chief, Tony Ruggles. But that's what happens and she can't let her feelings for him interfere with either the training or the work of fighting fires after she passes the test. But how will her parents handle her decision to leave her teaching job and become a firefighter full time; that is, after she signs up for school that will officially certify her?

Tony has it bad, too, and shows it when he gives her an assignment that could have gone to anyone because it didn't involve Laura going into a burning building. When she calls him on that, he has no choice but to give her a chance. What does she do with that opportunity? She finds a mother and baby in the house and rescues them!

Now what? How can they admit their feelings for each other and still remain as colleagues? Laura has an idea that just might work.

I really enjoyed this series. All three books were a fast read, very enjoyable and were good clean romances.
Out of the three books this one was the most bland with rrgards to romance. I thought i could have much more. I really loved the male character in this one and I had high hopes we were going to see more romantic moments, but they only came at the very end. I thought it could have had more.
But otherwise, I loved that it revolved around what's its like being a firefighter, that was super interesting and what kept me going in this book.
I really love the main couple, I just wished there was a bit more to their romance to keep the book alive.

I enjoyed the look at firefighter training, but didn't really feel the characters in this one.
