Katie is a blogger and soon to be published author. She is called the Break-Up Artist and this all came about after breaking up with her boyfriend five years ago. She was absolutely heartbroken when Wes ended things and decided to share her experience, it was a very therapeutic way to cope with the emotions. She has lived, learnt and made it to the other side. Now she helps other couples breakup in a more amicable way.
Her following and skills have caught the attention of a Hollywood publicist and she has now been asked to facilitate a very high profile couples break-up. This couldn’t have come at a better time, on the cusp of her book release, this publicity is like a dream come true for her publisher. Now she just needs to deliver what she promised.
Wes, Katie’s heart crushing ex, is a Hollywood lawyer and works for the studio about to release a new movie starring the couple about to break-up. He needs them to stay together to keep up the illusion that potential moviegoers have about this high profile couple. A break-up could ruin the success of the film and his head will roll if this happens.
When Katie agrees to spend a week with Selina and Ryder to assist them with their conscious uncoupling, she is surprised to find Wes is there also. Great, just what she needs - a confronting reminder of what she went through five years ago. And damn it, why is even better looking now without even trying to be? The Breakup Artist was a delightful read.
I smiled all the time while reading it and these characters made my day so much better.
Lila Monroe writing is a sure thing to put me in a good mood especially in the gray days.
Katie became the Breakup Artist when her boyfriend, Wes, ghosted her to start anew on the West coast.
She made a blog to overcome her sadness and insecurities, and after five years spent helping hundreds people with their breakups her work is really appreciated and she is also going to release a book, but when all seems going well she meets her ex.
Wes, a Hollywood studio lawyer, has to help the couple starring his studio latest movie with their relationship issues to avoid the bad press so when by chance he meets his ex girlfriend in New York he supports the actress decision to recruit her but he doesn’t expect that things can get weird and complicated pretty fast.
Could the Breakup Artist give a second chance to her ex who has broken her heart? Pick this book as soon as possible to find it out.

The Breakup Artist was an utter delight to read! The quirky and unique story line, partnered with the comedic dynamic between the characters, was super enjoyable.
Katie and Wes have unresolved history. She was blindsided by Wes when he up and ghosted her. So rude, right? But without this breakup, Katie wouldn’t have created a successful blog geared towards breakups, secure a book deal, or land a celebrity couple as clients who could potentially skyrocket her career. But when Wes enters the picture again, working with the couple as a lawyer from the movie studio, things go from elation to awkward. And old feelings of heartbreak and doubt are brought right back to the surface.
Katie was awesome! I loved the fact that not only did she grow into a stronger, more self-assured woman, she took a painful life experience and turned it into a positive. But the icing on the cake was the fact she wasn’t perfect. She still had her fair share of flaws -- her self-doubt and insecurities. But those qualities are so real and spot on with a lot of women who’ve experienced heartbreak, it makes the character very relatable.
Wes on the other hand...well, I didn’t love him like I usually do with male leads. Yes, he had changed. Yes, he had matured and apologized for his immature and insensitive actions. But there was just something about him at first that just rubbed me the wrong way. I can't quite pinpoint it. Maybe it was the fact that he had to do very little to gain back Katie’s trust. So I guess that should really be a strike against her. But if it was up to me, he would’ve been groveling until one is blue in the face. But nevertheless, his charm and personality finally won me over along with how much he regretted letting Katie go in the first place.
The Breakup Artist was a sweet, second chance romance with low angst and minimal drama. Although it’s part of the Cupids series, it’s a complete standalone and a fun and entertaining summer read!

This was quite a unique story... actually, each book from this series is.
It's a second-chance romance between a break-up guru and her ex entertainment lawyer boyfriend. I mean what are the chances they'd bumped into each other after all these years right? They don'r even live in the same zip code anymore. Fate is a funny things sometimes... If it's meant to be, it will always find it's way.
It's a fun and easy read. There were times when these two drove me nuts and frustrated me but it was part of the charm.
If you're looking for light, feel-good second chance story, then this is the book to pick up next.

The Break-Up Artist is a fun and heart warming second chance rom-com. Katie and Wes were both very likeable, easy to believe in characters, and I loved that Selena was neither entitled or bitchy. The author created a cast of characters that together added depth and colour to the story.
Second-chances are a guilty pleasure of mine, some are better than others. In this one I liked that their original break-up wasn't cliched. Both played a part in it and though Wes really hadn't come out of it with any honour he DID acknowledge his mistakes and show contrition. In fact the whole plot line avoided the usual cliches and was very much about BOTH characters growth and learning.
The story is quite slow burn, which worked well with the plot line, but once the chemistry ignited this pair certainly burned hot. I found it easy to believe in their connection and emotions, and really enjoyed reading their story. A very pleasant way to spend a few hours.

I appear to be in the minority here, but I can live with that.
Ms Monroe's writing was, for the most part, snarky and fun. I especially enjoyed hearing the main characters' thoughts, and there were some truly enjoyable moments in this book.
BUT...
The hero absolutely did not work for me. This is a second chance romance, and the first time around Wes ghosted Katie, his girlfriend of about six months. 100%. He knew what he was doing and didn't have any mitigating circumstances that would have made it seem okay-ish, then or now. His only excuse was that she had lead him to believe that she really wasn't into them as a couple (she didn't answer his texts immediately, wasn't always 100% available to him 24/7, said she didn't like ice cream...I can't remember all of his reasons now but they were all equally lame).
Even if you take her I was trying to play it cool and be what I thought he wanted me to be excuse into account--which sure, she should have been true to herself all along, but honestly, doesn't everyone have that period of being a little less of yourself in the beginning of a relationship, so you don't scare the other person off with your humanity/bodily functions/oddities right away? Wait until they really like you and are less likely to dump you because you floss your teeth weirdly to let them witness it?--that's no excuse to move across the country without warning and ignore all of her attempts to contact him. I mean, really. Grow the F up, buddy.
Ok, that was then. Did Wes redeem himself now? Kind of...and then he blew it big time. He did apologize, finally, and for a while they were fairly cute together. But then he kept a big, major thing from Katie--a thing that was not only important to her but also was literally potentially life changing for another character--and Wes was pretty unapologetic about that too. She, rightly, dumps him. But then he Nope, not enough. I don't believe this guy has truly learned how to behave honorably and will continue to do so going forward.
Katie deserved better.
TLDR: enjoyable writing style is hampered by a dickish, ill-redeemed hero. I've liked other books from this author, though, so hopefully this is a one-off. Like I said, I'm apparently in the minority, so make of this what you will.

Katie is known as the Breakup Artist because her blog has helped countless others get over the brutal breakup we've all experienced at least once. She should know how to get over a breakup considering her ex ghosted her, never for her to see him again. But now that same ex is back in her life when the latest It Couple she's helping seem to have acquired a lawyer intent on keeping them together, at least for appearances' sake, or more accurately, the studio's sake, as they're the couple starring in her ex's client's new movie. Yep, THAT ex. The one who ghosted her.
Katie knows better than to let herself get involved with Wes again after he decimated her heart all those years ago, but her body and her mind cannot seem to get with the program. But Wes says he's changed. The question is, has he really? Can he prove to her, SHOW her with his actions that he's really changed from that selfish boy he was?
I have been so lucky that during this pandemic, a lot of the reads I've been graced with have been just what I needed, and this one, too is just what I needed right now. It's sweet, it's lighthearted and its got heart. I love it. Katie and Wes have that familiarity that only exes have, and their tension is pitched perfectly. I can't wait for more of the Cupids world Lila Monroe has so lovingly created.

Another light, gooey rom com from Lila Monroe! I love that I know exactly what I'm in store for with her books - they're quick, low angst, and playful with a dash of humor. This second chance romance is no different; I really enjoyed the story and it just flew by. Though I do think the hero is a bit of a dud (more on that in a minute), I finished this in one sitting and stayed connected the whole way through.
The story follows Katie, a woman who went through a breakup so devastating that it inspired her to start a blog, becoming the Breakup Artist and even landing a book deal. When the guy she'd been dating for a while, Wes, ghosted her, it changed Katie and made her a little more jaded about love. When they bump into each other again, it starts a chain of events that lead them to explore all of the reasons they went wrong the first time around, and wonder if maybe they've grown into two people who are right for each other.
I'll be honest... I REALLY struggled with the circumstances of the original breakup in this one, so it colored my opinion of Wes. He was offered a job in another state and didn't think that their relationship was that serious, so rather than dealing with the drama of a breakup, he just... moved to another state without mentioning it to his girlfriend. Kinda hard to recover from that one. Ultimately, I was able to get over that by thinking of it more along the lines of "they were just having fun and didn't know each other that well" instead of "but they're meant to be!" Still didn't love him, and there certainly wasn't enough groveling. That being said, it really didn't hinder my enjoyment of the rest of the book. It's the kind of light, easy read that's perfect for unwinding after a long day, and I'm definitely looking forward to checking out what's next for the series. 4.5 Star Review of The Breakup Artist (Cupids #4) by Lila Monroe
Lila Monroe is an author who knocks romantic comedy books out of the park. Her books are, sweet, spicy, romantic and so funny that you cannot help but fall in love with her characters and the story she weaves; I never fail to smile when I read a Lila Monroe book.
Ms. Monroe had me from chapter one in this fun and entertaining read about
Wes and Katie; I loved them both separately and particularly together. There was something about these two that got to me, particularly Wes. They were so easy to like and relate to and it made for a great read. There were quite a few laugh out loud moments and the banter between them was witty.
This was such a quirky and unique story line that you cannot help but become invested in it. A second chance at love story that certainly ticked the boxes for me.

This was a second chance story and I enjoyed it and when I started reading I was thinking wow it has been a little while that I have read a Lila Monroe which surprised me because I like her books they tend to bring me a smile as did this one so I was glad to get it. Both Katie and Wes made mistakes in their relationship which caused the break up- I am glad that they realized it takes two to tango. So here is years later about 5 years and Katie has a new job and this job actually came to existence due to her break up with Wes. So Katie is summoned to come to La to help someone out and low and behold but who is there but her ex Wes who is the lawyer, and we get to see how these two go around each other and deal with each other, sometimes they annoy you but they both have changed and they get so this and so do you..I was a little sad that I for some reason didn't know that this was the 4th book but I plan on remedying that since I enjoyed this one! Enjoy!

Second chances aren’t something that a break-up artist believes in, hence the moniker using the the words ‘break-up,’ but that’s exactly what happens between Katie and her entertainment lawyer ex-boyfriend when he comes back into her life in quite an unusual way.
The fact that Katie turned her pain into something that redefined her entire life is extraordinary and telling about the kind of person she is and the fact that she knew she needed to do something to help herself shows that she didn’t want to lose herself because of it.
Wes is definitely a charming hero and it’s clear that he’s learned from the mistakes he made when he was younger, but, at times, he had a vibe that I just wasn’t feeling; it might just be the fact that he’s a lawyer and they definitely have a different mindset, but it took me a bit to believe he could be trusted with Katie’s heart again, and I do feel like she made it too easy for him to become such a huge part of her life again, but I do understand that the heart wants what the heart wants.

The fourth book in Lila Monroe’s Cupids series, The Breakup Artist was a charming, laugh-out-loud funny and sexy second-chance romantic comedy.
Wes, an entertainment attorney, and Katie, a relationship blogger known as The Breakup Artist, have a history that includes the breakup that launched Katie’s career. She lands a celebrity couple and the breakup that could put her on the map, but Katie is shocked to find her own ex in the mix managing Katie’s two superstar clients for a Hollywood movie studio. Wes and Katie’s breakup wasn’t exactly nasty, but considering he pulled a disappearing act on her, and she never got any kind of closure, Katie is hesitant to trust him again. Any time I'm looking for a fun escape, Lila Monroe is a pretty good bet. The Breakup Artist was a super fun read with engaging characters, plenty of laughs, and some great feels. I'd like to say that the romance won me over and was the best part of this one, but if I'm being honest, it wasn't just the romance. It was all of it - the couple, the secondary characters, the silly situations - all of it comes together for a feel-good read that's perfect for whiling away a weekend. Katie and Wes are terrific characters, but so are Selena, and Brooke, and even a couple of others who are much less likable. After all, those characters are necessary too, right? We even get a few glimpses at some past favorites in this series of standalones. So, what it all comes down to is this one is another well written, fast paced story from Lila Monroe.

Lila Monroe is an author who knocks romantic comedy books out of the park. Her books are, sweet, spicy, romantic and so funny that you cannot help but fall in love with her characters and the story she weaves; I never fail to smile when I read a Lila Monroe book.
Ms. Monroe had me from chapter one in this fun and entertaining read about
Wes and Katie; I loved them both separately and particularly together. There was something about these two that got to me, particularly Wes. They were so easy to like and relate to and it made for a great read. There were quite a few laugh out loud moments and the banter between them was witty.
This was such a quirky and unique story line that you cannot help but become invested in it. A second chance at love story that certainly ticked the boxes for me.

I loved the unique storyline in the Breakup Artist. This was so fun to read. Katie is a quirky, energetic woman. She started a blog called The Break Up Artist after her own experience of being left heart broken. Second chance romance are my favourite love stories. Wes and Katie have sizzling chemistry. Immediately at first “reunion” I could feel the sparks. I totally felt for Katie. She definitely isn’t over her feelings for him and she is questioning whether or not she is following her own advise of The Break Up Artist. Wes is attractive and totally charming. Katie is given a big opportunity but with that opportunity comes the fact that she will be working closely with Wes. There is a lot of fun, light moments but steamy passionate ones too. I love the concept that things happen for a reason and the fact Wes is back in Katie’s life means something. There was a ton of growth between these characters from beginning to end and I devoured it in one sitting.

This book is the perfect distraction from all of life’s worries. This is the fourth book in the “Cupids” series that centers around Katie, who is more of an anti-Cupid. Five years ago, she had her heart broken by Wes when he moved to LA without telling her and totally ghosted her. From her heartbreak, she started a blog and became The Breakup Artist, navigating her clients through their breakups. When she is hired by a famous movie star to help with her breakup with her co-star, Wes is the studio lawyer, who is playing Cupid to keep the couple together. This was a light read with a lot of laughs. I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.

Katie and Wes haven’t crossed paths in years but fate has a funny way of stepping in and making sure things happen as they are supposed to! This lighthearted, sweet, and fun book will have you smiling and enjoying this second chance, slow-burn romance!

The Break-up Artist is book 4 in Lila Monroe’s Cupids series of standalone romance novellas. I was intrigued by the premise of dumped and heartbroken, Eliza creating a job of blogging about breaking up that eventually leads to a book deal. That has to be the classic example of turning lemons into lemonade!
The main characters are likable enough. Eliza’s job as a break-up consultant seems to only fuel her personal pity-party about the loss of a boyfriend years ago. Talk about not letting go and living in the past!
Wes Baxter, who ghosted Eliza and turned her into “The Break-Up Artist” has apparently grown up and grown a conscience. However, I doubt I’d ever see someone who ghosted me as a potential match in the future. Letting go of that little detail, present-day Eliza and Wes are a good couple even though “explosive chemistry” doesn’t come to mind when describing them. I thoroughly enjoyed Selena, the young screen star who too easily takes back her horrid co-star/boyfriend time and time again. At times, she is the quintessential movie star and at other times, she is sweet-as-pie and down-to-earth.
The plot is well paced and straightforward. The angst is minimal, and the conflict is fairly inconsequential and easily negotiated. While The Break-Up Artist is not my favorite in the series, I did enjoy it for a quick, fun escape.

This was a good read but it wasn’t one of my favorite in this series. I just felt how they resolved their issues in the end a little anticlimactic. Wes and Katie did show growth as individuals after their breakup but there times I felt Wes didn’t fully get it but it did finally click for him.

I picked up this book, my first in the series, and had it read before going to bed. It is a complete standalone and even though you will get the previous characters popping in, you won’t feel left out or behind in any way. It’s a very quick read of a second chance romance.
Katie is a break up specialist. She is “the” Breakup Artist. She will help you end your relationship so each of you walk away with a sense of full closure. What got her started was her very own heartbreak from Wes. She has made a name for herself in New York, but now she has been summoned to the west coast to help out an A-Lister. The only thing is, Wes is also there to oversee things as the lawyer to the star.
There were some funny moments throughout the book. There is also a lot of name dropping which gives you a very Hollywood feel about it all. At times I felt both the couples lacked maturity, and the storyline had stages of unauthentic events. I liked that Katie had found herself and was more comfortable around Wes in LA. He too had changed since they had dated five years ago and I wanted more paragraphs from his POV. He was very swoon worthy. I feel fans from the previous books will get a kick out of Katie and Wes’s story.

Every time I pick up one of Lila Monroe’s books, I know for a fact that I’ll be surprised by the contents inside as she always changes things up a little with each book and this time was no exception. When I went into reading this book I was pulled and gripped to the story and I love it when that happens, I thought that Lila had a great plot, a great idea and the characters were just perfect. I thought everything was going well until I got to about half way through and that’s when I found myself not being as gripped as I was back in the beginning. There was nothing bad about what had been written, I just found that there wasn’t enough there to grip me into keep reading, but I ploughed on through and at about 80% I found the book to pick back up again. Other than the slight mishap in the middle of the book I do think that Lila did a good job.
I thought that Katie was an interesting character, I also loved her relationship with Selena. It’s not often you get to read about a celebrity from an authors world and have it so that they seem quite down to earth. Don’t get me wrong, I can see that most celebrities tend to find being in the spotlight a little overwhelming and they need the occasional break, but Selena is just a down to earth girl and how she is with Katie is just incredible, you can tell that they are just going to be great friends.
Wes, I still have judgment out for as I’m not truthfully sure what to make of him, but I do think that how Lila wrote him did bring the book to life.
Overall it was an enjoyable read and I’m looking forward to seeing what else Lila has planned.

What helps Katie be as successful as she is, she has helped used her own personal experience from a break up and turned it into a positive outcome which helps her in her line of work. The only things that she’s worried about is her book launch that she has coming up and the fact she feels a tiddly bit guilty about how she is helping others overcome their relationships when she’s never exactly gotten over her own break up. However, she knows for a fact that she won’t be seeing him any time soon after he ghosted her five years ago. But as you can imagine, life has a way of working and it’s decided that it’s going to throw both her and her ex Wes together and whilst they are working the opposite sides, they are going to be in close proximity of each other for a week….
Will Katie be able to handle being around Wes or is it just going to keep bringing up unresolved feelings for him? Will her book launch be a huge success???

This is part of a series but I have not read any of the other books before. It seems to easily stand alone. Its a 2nd chance at love but the two are not in love at all when the book starts.
Katie is The Break Up Artist which largely is where she helps a couple realise they are better off apart and the why it doesn't work. To help them breakup but also to figure out what they need in a new relationship. She even has written a book about the subject. She credits one of her exes with this career, Wes.
One day she runs into him in NYC, he ghosted her 5 years before and she has hated him ever since. But he is with a movie star that is in a BAD relationship and so she gets hired to come to LA and help this movie star figure out how to end her bad relationship.
Wes is sorry he ghosted Katie 5 years before because he was ghosted himself and knows how awful it is. Now he works for the movie studio and he needs the movies stars coupledom to survive until the movie is out. So he tries to make them remember the good times while Katie tries to show them why it wouldn't work.
This was a fun story that is told in dual POV. Wes was a jerk and well in this book he is a bit of a jerk again, but it comes from a confused place. What he does know is he likes Katie and she has changed a lot. Katie was an awesome character. She sticks to her morals and she is there for her client in the good, bad and in between moments. She is the hero in this story and I absolutely loved her.

Overall this was a cute slow burn, second chance love story that any romance lover will enjoy.

A funny rom-com that gives me all the laugh and fluff was exactly what I need. The Breakup Artist hit right on the mark. This quirky and heartwarming second-chance romance was fun, light and perfect to take me away from all the heaviness in life.
Both Katie and Wes were lovable characters. Their attraction and chemistry was intense and undeniable. I loved their witty banter and the easiness of their relationship. They were young and stupid when they first met five years ago. I'm glad that they both grew up and knew what they wanted in life when they reconnected this time.
I absolutely enjoyed this funny and light rom-com which gave me all the happy and warm feels. An awesome escape from the hectic world!
