Beauty and the Beast? Nah…this isn’t some sweet fairy tale. FIGHTING FOR HER is about danger, action, and a whole lot of hot romance.
He’s been called a beast…and he likes the title.
Rick Williams is big, bad, and not someone you want to have as an enemy. As an agent with Wilde Securities, his job is to kick butt and take names. Protecting and defending—that’s part of his package deal, but his cases don’t usually involve him protecting someone like her.
A crime princess with a body made for the sweetest sin.
Kathleen O’Shaughnessy is the daughter of an infamous mob boss. Her father made sure that she was locked away from the world so Kat didn’t exactly have easy street growing up. Now that her father is dead, she’s suddenly out on her own—and she’s the target of every enemy that her father made in his very long career.
Keep the princess alive. Keep his hands off her.
The government wants to use Kat as a witness to take down what’s left of her father’s organization. To do that, though, Kat has to stay alive. She’s not big into the whole witness protection scene. Boring guys in cheap suits aren’t her thing. Kat needs protection that’s a bit…Wilder. Good thing Rick is up for the challenge. One look at Kat, and her protection—and her pleasure—are at the top of his to-do list.
It’s not the beast that needs taming. It’s the princess.
There are seven days until the trial. Seven days in which Rick has to keep Kat at his side day and night. It should be an easy enough task…but when the bullets start flying and they have to go on the run, Rick finds out that the protected “princess” isn’t who he thought. Kat is about to wreck his world, and it’s gonna be one heck of a wild battle.
He’ll do whatever it takes…
He’ll fight hard and he’ll fight dirty to keep her alive. And he’ll also fight with every bit of his strength to win Kat’s heart. The beast is falling hard and fast…and his princess holds his battered heart in the palm of her hand.
Author’s Are you up for a twisted and hot take on a wild fairytale? Rick might be a fierce beast, but when the man falls, he falls hard. Prepare for an alpha hero, dangerous fun, hot romance, and some bad guys that are on the scary side. FIGHTING FOR HER is a stand-alone read, no cliff-hangers.

Heroine had some tstl moments there was some moments that I wanted someone to shoot her and get it over it. It didn’t bother me much that she lied, manipulated and flirted with everyone. She did it to get out of the situation she found herself in. She’d tried to run away when she had people after her ass trying to kill her! The dumb woman couldn’t stay put even to save her life and that pissed me off. It was like she was actually looking to get kill.
Hero was ugh.. he insulted her, hurt her feelings, insinuated that she slept around and used men for her purpose.. They were being shot at and chased but they had time to kiss and have sex. Talk about tstl moments! What’s the point of men in books get jealous because the heroines had ex lovers and they don’t want to hear about it but then the heroines have to hear how stud the heroes are in bed. Thankfully nothing like this happened in this book but hero did jealous few times thinking about heroine’s ex lovers.
And another thing, everyone in this series has slept together at some point. Eric (H from book 1) had a FWB relationship with the detective. That detective is fwb with one of his lawyers. (Heroine from book 2) had a relationship with hero from book 4. Heroine from this book has 2 ex lovers whom I’m sure the author will write about because they turned out to be not the bad guys I thought they would be. The “hit man/ex lover” even went out of his way to say that this heroine would get in a man’s skin and it was hard to get her out. (Something like that) but things like this makes me not want to read their books because I always remember what they do and say in previous books. Thank goodness this hero hasn’t slept with anyone from this series.
Safety: no other people after meeting each other. No Ow drama. Tiny bit of OM drama from one of her ex lovers. She has had only 2 lovers in her life. Hero is not a whore. He has had only few lovers.

Another great addition to the Wilde Ways series. Rick Williams came to my attention as a heavily involved secondary character in the last book, and I was interested to see him get his own HEA.
"You’re insane…"
"I am… and for the next seven days, I’m also all yours."
The usual twisty turny plot ensues, with Rick tasked with protecting Mob princess, and pivotal witness Kat O’Shaughnessy from pretty much everyone, including the F.B.I, Hit-Men and potentially his own colleagues, as the Wilde Securities team face an internal breach.
"I’m the only one standing between you and a bullet. You want to keep living..? Then you play by my rules."
We also get too meet more secondary characters as this one plays out, Cole (Rick’s partner) is definitely due his own story, but I loved snarky hit-man Ghost, and am hoping that Cynthia has something up her sleeve for him as well in the future.
"You were only supposed to walk me to the courthouse… You weren’t supposed to change my life."
Not much else I can say that I haven’t already said in my previous reviews, I love this author, she nails Romantic Suspense each and every time, and this series is up there with the best of hers, and I cannot wait for more!
"I like it when people get happy endings."

Whoa! Talk about action, drama and romance! This was all three…on steroids!
When Kat agrees to testify against the mob, her life is in serious danger. Suddenly, there are assassin attempts from every direction. When she loses her FBI detail in favor of a walk and brownies, they turn her over to Wilde Securities. Now, a growly, grumbly bear of a man is in charge of her protection. He doesn’t trust her and unfortunately, she’s going to have to prove he has reason not to.
Man, I loved Kat. She was snarky and knew how to take care of business. She had this lighthearted way of dealing with the men around her that were driving her crazy. ”He towered over her. Glared. The man loved his glares. She gave him her sunniest smile in response.” Her initial character profile is nothing like the true Kat and I loved all the little surprises we get as we learn more about the real her. ”Fear was pretty much her constant companion. She kept her mask in place, made jokes all the time, seemed confident because the truth was that she didn’t want anyone to see how terrified and screwed up she was.”
Rick was the epitome of an alpha hero. Despite his beliefs regarding her in the beginning, from the first moment he learned someone was out to kill her he went into full protective mode. The deeper their relationship grew, the more intense those protective instincts became. ”I want to rip apart any a---ole who gets too close to you and not because I’m supposed to be your bodyguard. Because I’m getting too possessive around you.”
Within all the action packed pages is the romance brewing between Rick and Kat. In true Cynthia Eden fashion, the chemistry between this hero and heroine absolutely sizzles from their first meeting and grows exponentially as the story progresses. There is so much danger around them and a definite future of them being separated once she goes into the Witness Program.
This has a ton of action as Kat and Rick try to find a safe place to keep her until her court appearance. Pinpointing who the bad guys are was impossible. With all the twists and turns you may guess right at one point but will change your mind a few pages later. I love when a book does that to me! From the beginning this story takes off and never slows down. Never. It’s one thing happening and before you recover, something else is happening. I loved every wide-eyed scene and can’t wait for more, especially concerning the new character we were introduced to! Bring him on Ms. Eden!
Kathleen (Kat) O’Shaughnessy is the daughter of an infamous mob boss, with her father assassinated, she now finds herself hunted as everyone hungers for the massive bounty on her head, the FBI agents assigned to her are failing to keep her safe, so the FBI call in Wilde Securities. Rick Williams is big, bad, and not someone you want to have as an enemy, charged with protecting Kat, he has a host of rules she isn’t keen on following, throw in the fact that from the moment they meet the heat and tension between them potently pulsates through the room, and it becomes clear that danger isn’t only to be found in the people stalking Kat’s footsteps.
Did a little mental jig as started this, found myself smiling due to the antics and thoughts of the heroine, since the last book or two by Eden didn’t exactly leave me with happy feelings, I was hesitant to pick this up, but glad I did.
A snarky heroine, a protective alpha hero, chemistry that sizzles, and a strong dash of danger make this a really good read.
There are some OTT moments (which amused rather than annoyed me) and the hero early in the book needed to think before speaking a few times.
Overall, an entertaining read that I very much enjoyed, and will defo be re-reading.
Cynthia is one of my go to authors who I know I can trust and get a good story. This book is the 5th book in her Wilde Ways series. I've enjoyed most of the books in the series. While I enjoyed this one, it wasn't my favorite. Kat really annoyed me in the first part of the book so it took me a bit to connect to her. I know it was all part of her persona but it still kinda turned me off her character for a bit.
This is Rick's story and overall, I really enjoyed it, despite my feelings for Kat in the beginning. Rick is taken with Kat the moment he meets her but he is determined to keep her safe and keep his hands to himself. We all know how that is gonna go.
This book takes Kat and Rick on quite a journey wondering who they can trust. Rick even questions trusting all of the agents at Wilde Securities. He doesn't doubt Eric or Cole but people are getting too close to Kat and he is determined to keep her safe.
Their story is a good one and I think you'll enjoy it. We get introduced to a new character and can I just say,
Quotes & Faves:
♥ “Listen to me,” Rick gritted out. “No one is taking you from me. I am not giving you up! You are mine. Mine. Got it?”
♥ He flew through the open door. Met more chaos. Wilde agents grabbed for Kat, but he shoved them aside. No one was taking her from him. Not again.
♥ Rick lowered Kat to the couch. Or, he tried to lower her. His arms were just being all weird, though. They wouldn’t let her go.
♥
♥ “Is that supposed to make me feel better? It doesn’t. Not even a little bit. I don’t want you dying for me.” She stared into his eyes. Those deep, dark eyes. “I want you living an amazing life. Being happy. Laughing and loving and…and doing everything you want to do. I was born into this nightmare. You weren’t.” It was tearing out her heart to think of him being hurt.
♥ He stared into her eyes and told her, “You’re worth any risk. Sweetheart, I’d fight anyone or anything for you.”
♥ He feasted on her. Wild, hard, desperate. His Kat. No one hurts you. I will kill anyone who tries. She was his, he was hers, and he’d fight anyone who attempted to take her from him.
♥ Her lower lip trembled. “I don’t want you losing your soul for me.”
Ok Kat, the heroine here is one who you will either really like or want to throttle. Kat is a pampered Mob princess and now that her father has been murdered she has gone to the authorities and is ready to testify in court. Now obviously there’s going to be people out there who really just want to shut her up and as she’s a huge pain in the backside and her whereabouts have been compromised the FBI decide to let Wilde Security handle her protection. Ex firefighter Rick is not going to let the snarky, gorgeous Kat run rings around him the way she has the Feds ! Rick is determined to protect Kat even if she does seem to make the craziest of choices considering she’s got a target painted on her back. Trouble is Kats location gets blown yet again which means there’s a leak and going on the run is their safest option . With twenty million dollars missing though is Kat really innocent ? Considering that Kat knows she’s in danger she does the most idiotic things at times. I just didn’t really like her and I just found her confusing. Rick seemed to see himself completely differently to the way everyone else did and honestly I didn’t think he was as unworthy as he seemed to think but a little angst obviously helps readers to connect with his character. I did like that the author gave us his thoughts though and Rick has his reasons for usually keeping his distance but he certainly struggles to keep his hands off Kat which leads to steamy times aplenty. Obviously my not liking Kat does colour my opinion but I can say that we get a lot of Cole in this book which obviously has whet my appetite for when he gets his own book. What I found very interesting was a new character who is introduced and I foresee his personality rubbing several people the wrong way which will be a lot of fun to read about. So my final thoughts are if you enjoy sexy romance with suspense , drama and a little humour thrown in then this book might appeal to you This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Continuing on with the Wilde Ways series, this book (which is a standalone) has a bit of a beauty and a beast vibe.
The heroine is the daughter of a mob boss. She’s in protective custody and keeps slipping their guard. The Feds have a leak and pass her off to Wilde Security (their big boss knows Eric Wilde and knows he’ll keep her locked down). Eric assigns Rick to her. She’s very sassy and feisty and immediately starts teasing him.
For Kat, everyone always assumes she’s just like her father and she’s some spoiled mob princess. The thing is, she maybe was a spoiled princess as a child, but when she realized what her father actually did? She became a trapped prisoner in her own house. But now her father has been assassinated and she’s pretty sure she’s next. She turned herself over to the government. She agrees to testify against the mob and her life is instantly in even more danger. She thinks she can do a better job of watching out for herself than the feds, especially since there’s a leak. So she keeps escaping.
Rick can keep her locked down, but he doesn’t trust the Feds at all. But whether that’s because of the way one of them looks at Kat or something else, is up in the air.
I wasn’t sure I liked Kat right off the bat, but she grew on me quickly. I mean, she’s the daughter of a mob boss, so how was Ms. Eden going to make her the heroine? Well, I should have known better. She always writes great characters. Kat’s really flirty and can come off as TSTL until you understand her motives, so don’t worry! She isn’t really Too Stupid To Live. And trust me, Kat really wants to live.
Rick is was easy to like, and I liked who he was and how he was with Kat. He didn’t get her flirting at first, I mean he knew she was messing with him, but he couldn’t pin down her angle. He also immediately stereotyped her as the typical mob princess. Boy was he wrong. And I liked seeing Kat prove him wrong.
There is a twist in here that I really liked. I don’t know as everyone will, but I think it worked. I can’t wait to read Ghost of a Chance next!
One of the things I love about Cynthia Eden's books other than her writing (which is so damn good) is her characters. It doesn't matter what she writes her characters always make her story. They are so easy to connect too!
With saying that I wasn't sure at first about Kat. How can you make a mob bosses daughter be good? I guess by not making her 100% good, just 95% good. Her wiggle room for being bad is enough to make her a very fun character.
I totally loved Kat. Her one-liners cracked me up. At times even I forgot the dangers she was in because of them. You really learn that there are so many layers to Kat. She's really not what she seems.
I also loved Rick. He's such a wonderful guy. He's good at his job and cares about the people around him. He too has a sad back story just not as sad as Kat's. Right away you can see that even though he doesn't believe for a minute that she's into him he still puts his life on the line for her.
The action in this one is non-stop and you are kept on the edge to who's the bad people are. I loved that about this story. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the story. I couldn't stop reading it until I was done.
In the end, there is a fun surprise for readers (I'm not saying what it is) but it holds, for me at least one of the funniest scenes of the book. Don't look or rush to the end to find out what happens, enjoy it as the book unfolds. This is the perfect story for an afternoon read.
Super steamy and laugh out loud moments between Rick and Kat. They are perfectly matched for each other, even if they don’t think so. Lots of suspense to keep you guessing all the way. I hate to see this series end....but...maybe it’s not over yet?

REVIEW: 4.25 stars--FIGHTING FOR HER is the fifth instalment in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary, adult WILDE WAYS romantic, suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Wilde Securities. This is Wilde Securities Agent Rick Williams, and mafia princess Kathleen ‘Kat’ O’Shaughnessy’s story line. FIGHTING FOR HER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty . Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from several third person perspectives including Rick and Kat FIGHTING FOR HER follows the protection and guardianship of Mafia princess Kathleen ‘Kat’ O’Shaughnessy. With her father’s dead, Kat O’Shaughnessy is set to testify against the mob but first there is the question as to the whereabouts of close to twenty million dollars. With a price tag on her head, Kat has been under the protection of the FBI but Kat’s numerous escapes finds her protection handed over to Wilde Securities. Enter Rick Williams, the man with whom Kat will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Rick and Kat, and the potential fall-out as several attempts against Kat’s life force our couple on the run.
Kat O’Shaughnessy has no idea as to where her father’s money has disappeared but someone or someone(s) are desperate to end our heroine’s life or at the very least uncover the whereabouts of twenty million dollars. Often times TSTL (too stupid to live) Kat struggles with the protection assigned to keep her safe. Falling for Rick Williams means placing the man in the direct line of fire, a man with whom Kat is secretly in love. Rick Williams doesn’t do relationships especially a relationship that can compromise his contract with Wilde Securities but several attempts against Rick and Kat’s life force Rick to stay close to our storyline heroine.
The relationship between Rick and Kat is one of immediate attraction but their personalities clash from the start. Rick views Kat as a spoiled Mafia princess, not knowing the extent to which Kat has suffered at the hands of the mob. Constantly on the run as their locations are compromised Rick and Kat fall towards their own happily ever after. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Wilde Securities boss Eric Wilde; Wilde Security specialist Cole Vincent; FBI agents Bryan Brisk, Tom Wayne; Detective Layla Lopez; defense attorney Kendrick Shaw; and assassin James ‘Ghost’ Smith. The requisite evil has many faces but not everyone is who they appear to be.
FIGHTING FOR HER is a well written story of money, power and control; of betrayal, greed and vengeance; of falling in love and happily ever after. The premise is energetic, fast paced and intriguing; the romance is seductive and captivating; the characters are dynamic and charismatic.
Ok, I really like this one. I love the brooding, alpha, OTT extremely possessive & jealous H ,Rick. Love the sexual tension, the suspense, and especially the heroine Kat. So sassy & forward. And James crack me up. Great job to the author. We need more characters/books like this.
I really enjoyed this book. I like my heroines to be smart and I liked that Kat was good at many things, hot wiring a car, pick pocketing, breaking out of hand cuffs, this is my kind of girl and she did not come across as I-don't-need-a-man-I-can-take-care-of-myself troupe.
Kat was sassy as hell and her snarky comments was awesome.I liked how she ran rings around the feds and Rick. She and Rick worked well together and I liked their chemistry right from the start. It was refreshing to see a heroine go after her man.
So why not a 5* read if I liked this book so much...............well Kat kind of let me down with her whole self sacrificing thing she had going on, she push Rick away saying that he must have a happy life, so why can't they have a happy life together?. Why did she stop fighting for them?
Overall a very nice read, I liked Ghost hopefully his story will be just a good as I like to see more of him.

He’s an agent with Wilde Securities, he’s big, bad and not someone you want to have as an enemy, but Rick Williams’ cases don’t usually involve him protecting someone like her. She’s the daughter of an infamous mob boss who make sure she was locked away from the world and now Kathleen O’Shaughnessy is out on her own and the target of every enemy that her father made in his very long career.
It’s obvious from the very first meeting between Rick and Kathleen that they have some serious chemistry going on and that these two strong, bold characters are going delight readers with an enjoyable reading experience. Their romance starts off with sparks flying in every direction as Kathleen proceeds to tell Rick and everyone else that she’s not going to be miss meek and quiet. Delightful, chuckle inducing clashes between these two are spread throughout the story along with steamy passion and emotional turbulence and readers can’t help but feel as if they are part of their story as the Rick does his best to protect the spitfire.
The plot is faced paced and full of thrilling excitement as Rick and Kathleen barely stay one step ahead of the bad guys and the suspense begins to build as it soon becomes obvious that they can’t trust anyone. The danger escalates with lots of hair raising and nail biting events along with some unexpected twists which ensures that readers can’t possibly figure out who exactly wants her dead and who wants her alive and readers definitely don’t want to miss one second of this thrill-a-minute read.
OH MY GOODNESS PEEPS! I LOVED THE EVER LOVING HELL OUT OF FIGHTING FOR HER BY CYNTHIA EDEN! This book took me by storm with a heroine who is incredibly strong, smart, feisty and brimming with secrets and surprises. Rick is the type of growly hero I absolutely swoon over and delight in. To me he is gorgeous, wonderfully strong, surprisingly sweet and who turns out to be a REAL prince charming because he is honest, protective and loving.
The newest Wilde Ways book had me in love with the action packed plot and the crackling and fierce romance. There wasn't a dull moment to be had and with every turn of the page there was heat, jaw-dropping action and plenty of twists that kept me on my toes. I ADORED it! Cynthia Eden continues to be my FAVORITE romantic suspense author of all time thanks to Fighting For Her!
Kat is a mob daughter that is in FBI custody after her father's murder because she's going to testify what she knows about other mob people and then go into witness protection. Unfortunately the FBI does a terrible job and if she hadn't sneaked away from the agents guarding her she would be dead. So the assistant director calls in Eric Wilde and his agency. Rick is assigned Kat.
The heat starts flowing from the two of them right away but Rick doesn't give in. Their location is compromised a couple of times and things go really south.
This is full of action and a great read.
My favorite part though - the last few pages ;). Enjoy!
Another great read! This time it's Rick turn to fall in love. I adore Rick with all my heart and he found his true love in a mob's daughter, Kat. Kat needs to be protected from the many people gunning for her and Wilde security has been tasked for the job. Rick steps up to be her bodyguard 24/7. Filled with action, suspense, betrayal, murders and some hot steamy love scenes. I love this crew so freaking much! And that Ghost? Yes more Ghost please, Lol. I can't wait to see who ends up being his Achilles heel, Lol. 4.5 stars for a wonderful read!!!!
Fighting For Her by Cynthia Eden is the fifth in her Wilde Ways series, about Wilde Securities, a high-end protection agency.
Rick Williams has been a Wilde agent for years, but this is his first assignment guarding a mafia princess. Protecting Kathleen O’Shaughnessy has been moved to Wilde after her current detail seems to be falling down on the job.
A ridiculously protective bodyguard, a savvy woman peril who is hardly a shrinking violet, a steady stream of danger, and a cast of characters who are entertaining, intriguing, and laugh-out-loud by turns... what's not to love?
Rick really is the sweetest with his words, “and you’re a gorgeous, tricky, possibly homicidal woman.” Rick is learning quite fast his woman's body language, "...Rick motioned to one of the stools. “Sit.” She didn’t. Did she look like a dog? Rick caught himself. Or he caught the glare that she gave him. He cleared his throat. “Would you, um, please sit so we can talk?” I really liked this book, I loved Rick.
I’ve loved the Wilde Ways books up to this point, but I just didn’t like Kay at all, and Rick was okay. The combo was nothing I cared about. Todd’s the end it was interesting, but that’s just because Cynthia Eden knows how to put together a story. Unfortunately the characters just didn’t connect to me on this one, but I will still read the next one.
I guess my biggest complaint is the slut shaming of the FMC by the MMC and this mostly stems from a how-could-she-ever-be-attracted-to-me-I'm-so-ugly complex (which is eye roll inducing in of itself). It becomes kind of exhaustive especially after having reread this book a few times.
Anyway besides this I loved the suspense in this one and I liked that the stakes were quite high: 2o milion dollars that someone is trying to steal, our FMC is being hunted and is trying to escape her protection- say no more I'm sold. I also enjoyed the couple but I mostly just loved our main character. This is a small list of why:
-hot wiring skills (yes please) -having mafia family issues (sign me up) -trying to survive whilst simultaneously believing you are going to die (it is like this book was written to soothe my depression)
One moment our main character is at a club for the first time the next she has stolen someone's ride and phone there is nothing I love more and then MMC is skulking about it (HELLOOO?? I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF MORE FUN). This also just creates great tension between the FMC and MMC whilst he is all law abiding she is just trying to live out what she believes is the last of her days. Also this book is the introduction to ghost (chef's kiss all over that man). I have read his spin off book and although it was decent nothing compares to how he is in this book.
It’s been awhile since I read a book about the elite security firm, Wilde Protection and Securities. The previous books provided engaging, sexy, and suspenseful plots, and this book didn’t disappoint. This story is a “Wilde” adventure as a grizzly bear of a man is assigned to provide 24 by 7 protection for the sassy, feisty, gorgeous mafia princess. The FBI is more than happy to hand over the rebellious Kat to Rick Williams from WPS. There is instant chemistry between the “Beauty and the Beast” and that sexual tension is only going to get stronger as Rick must keep Kat safe from her late father’s enemies for seven long days and nights, as she is star witness for the Prosecution. Even though I had my suspicions on the identity of the villain, it didn’t take away from the intrigue of this action packed story. As usual with a book by this clever author, there is a surprise or two. The actions and even some comic relief from the secondary characters enhances the storyline. Now I am looking forward to reading more tales in this romantic, suspense series.
Kat had been playing this game her entire life - trust no one, and stay alive.
When Kat’s FBI security detail can no longer be trusted to keep her safe Wilde Protection and Securities is called on to protect her until she can be delivered to the court house to testify against her father’s old enemies. With a reported missing two million dollars every enemy of her father had is coming out of the woodwork. And they all believe Kat knows where it is.
There are seven days until the trial. Seven days in which Rick Williams has to keep Kat at his side day and night. What could possibly go wrong, until Rick realizes Kat is a runner and keeping her safe from herself may be more difficult than keeping her safe from her father’s enemies.
Rick quickly realizes Kat isn’t the pampered “princess” that he expected. She is turning his world upside down and when the bullets start flying, Rick is determined to keep Kat safe as they also realize they can’t trust anyone.
