Solid story line with a cop (Case) going undercover as a high school student to figure out who is behind making and distributing illegal drugs. The romance between Case and Kyra was a little quick, but overall a good suspense novel.

Lovely, lovely book.
I love how the author centered the book around prayers, justice with a beautiful dose of romance.
My favorite part was how Case and Kyra met. It was beautiful and not the normal kind of meetings one reads about.
Case was a detective that had to go undercover and met the delightable Kyra.
Reading about how together they sort to make justice preveil was beautiful.
I loved reading about Kyra's passion for her job, you don't get to see people having passion for that kind of job. Her lovely and beautiful spirit was very well complimented by Case who also has a great passion for his job.
When they were both faced with dire situations their responses was prayers asking God for help. And God always showed up for them. They watched out for each other and trusted each other.
I love how the author dealt with the dangers of drug abuse and substance use. Very simple but impactful way.
The fact that this book wasn't predictable kept me reading till the last page.
The characters was very believable.
I loved the small town setting.

I'd definitely recommend this suspence novel to anyone seeking an interesting read.

I received a copy of the book for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed here are mine.

Fun, but Nothing Special

The book tells a good story and is, for the most part, well written. It only got 3 stars because it isn’t anything special. There is nothing specifically memorable about the book. The characters are likable, but that’s all. The story is simple and easily resolved. I also had an issue with all the religious references. They were jarring and did not add anything to the book.

Fast Paced Suspense!

This is a great read, with characters I rooted for from start to finish! With a cute beginning, a plot that kept me guessing, and a satisfying ending, I found myself glued to my chair to see if Kyra and Case could bring the drug dealer to justice and have their chance at romance. I highly recommend this book!

This is my first book by Lynnette Bonner. I enjoyed the story of Case and Kyra’s romance. It was easy to read and I think a good book for young adults. The romance was not too much and the suspense kept you guessing. I look forward to reading Ice the next in the series. I will recommend this book to the readers that like to read for pleasure and not have to think too hard.

It was a shift for me. I usually prefer stories set in the "olden days". This was a modern mystery romance. Still loved the characters & the clean romance.

If you’ve not read any of author Lynnette Bonner’s books, now is the time to start. Fire, the first in the San Juan Shadows series, is a sweet, clean romantic suspense that will knock your socks off!

Someone is killing off the teenagers in a small island high. No they are not shooting or some other such method; this person, in pursuit of money, is manufacturing a very dangerous drug, a drug that is not pure and includes chemicals no meant for the human body. Not only is the person manufacturing the drug, called Fire, they have a circle of sellers who are terrified to say anything to anyone.

Kyra Radell has accepted a position as a first year teacher; she is excited about her new position and hopes to enrich the students lives, then she finds out something is not quite right when one of her students die from ingesting a new drug. She sets out to help figure out who is manufacturing the drug before it kills more kids, and even worse, leaves the island community to become even more threatening. She has to help; she understands the loss of a loved one all too well. Her brother Kyle died of a drug addiction.

Case Lexington is sent in as an undercover cop. Attraction to the teacher is the least of his problems, more kids are dying. As he continues his undercover investigation, it becomes more and more clear that the students are scared. Nobody is talking. No one. Determined to keep Kyra safe, he does everything he can to prevent her involvement but she is rather stubborn, continuing her own pursuit, endangering her own life.

Fast-paced, romantic suspense, Fire is an excellent book! I highly recommend it.

PS. Upon your completion of reading Fire, might I suggest reading the author’s other series?

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and am under no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions therein are solely my own, and freely given.

Kyra is the new teacher in the high school where a dangerous new drug is killing students. Case is the undercover agent assigned to learn more about the new drug and hopefully shut it down. The two set out to find the person who’s distributing the drug in their own way. The trouble is—Kyra has put her life at risk and Case is not willing to allow that.

The faith of both characters was an intrinsic part of their personality—they prayed, attended church and believed that their life’s work was part of God’s purpose for them. I would have liked a little more backstory on the perpetrator but overall this was an enjoyable read. Lynette Bonner did a great job of keeping the drug dealer’s identity under wraps until the last minute. Still, there were enough clues that if you were paying attention you’d have a good idea of who it was.

This is the first book I’ve read for Lynnette Bonner but I look forward to checking out more from her.

This book is really good! It caught and kept my attention from the first page to the last. Someone in this small town is making homemade “fire,” a drug that is killing high school students. Case, a detective from the Mainland is sent to go undercover as a high school student to find the drug dealer/murderer. Upon entering the school, Case is recognized by one of the teachers, Kyra, from a brief encounter a few weeks earlier. Confusion enters as Kyra thinks she was duped by a high school boy. The story unfolds and things get tense as another student dies, and several locals are on the suspect list. This book is written on a subject that could easily be any towns circumstances in today’s world. It is very well written and will keep your attention! It’s a book I didn’t want to end. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!! I have found a new author in Lynette Bonner, and I will definitely be reading more of her books!

So very good. Suspenseful from start to finish with a little romance thrown in for good measure. When a cop goes undercover as a high school student to catch a deadly drug dealer, the story heats up as the list of suspects sends the readers mind looking for clues to figure it out. But the story heats up in another way when the undercover student is attracted to his teacher; but this relationship faces impossible odds and danger for the teacher if she doesn’t mind her own business. Can the deadly drug dealer be identified before more students die? Kept me guessing which is my definition of a good book. Recommend this book to get lost in for awhile but beware it will keep you on the edge with just enough information to keep piling you in without giving away the true suspect.

I really enjoyed this story that kept me guessing! It was hard to tell who the bad guy was and it was fun to watch Kyra and Case run into each other at the school after they met before he went undercover. Talk about awkward! He's worried about his cover and she thinks she might have flirted with a high school student! I liked the investigation and I especially liked how both Kyra and Case had a strong faith in God and showed it by praying regularly. I liked Kyra's intelligence and determination to get out of some sticky situations she landed in. There were some good romantic moments and some exciting action, also! I would recommend this is you like romantic suspense!

Lynnette Bonner’s book Fire:
Kyra is shocked when Case walked into her class room. Case is a wonderful man that you will enjoy reading about. Kyra is a special lady who is excited to finally do the job she has always wanted. This book is truly a very inspirational story. Lynette Bonner is a amazing author who will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.

This was a really good book!! It grabbed me at the beginning, and kept me reading til the end!! It has a touch mystery, romance, and faith!! I kept thinking I had the person figured out, but kept wondering if I was correct, right up until they finally told me who it was! I was right!! I like books that I can figure out, but yet not be positive that I'm right! That way, it keeps me guessing, and keeps me wanting to find out how it's all going to end!!

I received a complimentary copy of the book, was not required to leave a review. The opinion expressed is totally my own.

I enjoyed Fire! Jumps right into the action, and keeps the pace going throughout the story. I never felt like it was being rushed, but neither did it ever linger too long in one spot, which I appreciated. The dynamic between Case and Kyra was great, leading to several hilarious moments, especially given how they met and leading into Case's undercover work. Looking forward to the next installment of the San Juan Shadows!

Action and adventure await for you in this great story. Kyra is a school teacher at a new school and their is a drug problem and kids are dying. What is this legal drug? Who is doing it and how is it to get stopped. Ok enters Case the detective, undercover as a student. Oh man, Kyra met him at her last job and was attracted to him, but he is a student? She pegged that all wrong. Can they find out who is producing this drug before more kids are killed? Great read! This is an honest review, my honest opinion for the author.

A great book with all the right ingredients. When Case and Kyra meet for the first time, she has no idea who he is. Fast forward to a few weeks later and he shows up in her class as a new student and she thinks he trying to pull a fast one on her. As they try to navigate through a drug problem that is killing students she discovers he's a cop, trys to help, nearly gets killed and falls in love. A great story that keeps you turning the pages till you're done.

Good suspense. It kept me guessing from the get go who the bad guy was, staff or student or someone not a part of the school, male or female. I like that there was a romantic interest between the 2 main characters to add to the supence and drama.
