I received an electronic copy from SOURCEBOOKS Kids through NetGalley. This little girl wants a reindeer for her birthday. Santa lets her borrow one but warns her not to let it meet a unicorn. Of course, she has a unicorn. She questions why Santa gave this warning and soon learns why. They are very competitive and don't get along. Then something happens and they have to work together to help Santa mae his Christmas Eve run. The unicorn helps light the way and they come back as best friends. At the end, readers see who the two really are and readers can appreciate how large her imagination is. The illustrations capture the emotion and the intensity of the competition. A fun family read.
On page 17 of 18 is says, "past" instead of "passed." Good gravy! No wonder people can't spell! I can't believe the editor missed (or should I say "mist")that.
What started out as a cute wish for a reindeer, quickly turned south when the main character's pet unicorn begins a war with the reindeer! Cute story, unique, and fun. But not sure if this is a book I would get my own kid. Honestly, probably let 'em read it from the library and call it a day.
Never Let A Unicorn Meet A Reindeer is a fantastic story. When a young girl asks for a reindeer for her birthday she gets a letter back saying a reindeer must never meet a unicorn and curious why she takes no notice and the chaos begins!
This is such a unique story that is lots of fun to read. It's great to see all the mischief the unicorn and reindeer get up to whilst the little girl tries to work out why. It's nice how we got to see the pair sent on a special mission at the end of the book as it shows that sometimes things can work out when you least expect.
The illustrations are very pretty with the colours standing out from the rest of the black and white base pictures on a lot of pages. The book has a festive feel to it whilst not being too Christmassy so it could be read any time of the year (not that I care if i'm reading Christmas books in the Summer!)
This is a brilliant book that's great fun and I'd definitely recommend, if you need a unique story showing a unicorn and reindeers talents then this is it.
If you are looking for an outrageously funny Christmas story to share with the young people in your life, grab a copy of Never Let A Unicorn Meet A Reindeer! written and illustrated by Diane Alber.
When a girl asks for a reindeer to visit her summer birthday party, chaos ensues. After all, Santa has warned her not to let her unicorn meet a reindeer, so what should she expect when it happens? Unicorn and reindeer clash, but they rise to the occasion when Santa needs help on Christmas Eve.
I applaud an author who has such creativity. Alber has a series of Unicorn books that are so playful and silly that it’s no wonder they are so popular. Also a talented artist, her black and white illustrations with spots of color are instantly recognizable. Love the expression on the girl’s face on the front cover.
This is a modern and unique twist on a familiar Christmas story that will delight young readers and have them laughing aloud. Such a fun book!
This book is full of fun and excitement. The illustrations are fantastic and visually represent the story incredibly well. I loved it, and I am sure children will love it too. Most children, especially little girls, dream about having, meeting, or being a unicorn. This story is about a little girl who wants a reindeer for her birthday. She would like the reindeer to come for a visit, so she writes a letter to Santa. Her wish comes true, and a reindeer arrives on her doorstep, and that is when she realises why Santa told her not to let the reindeer meet her unicorn. The reindeer and unicorn are super competitive, and the result of that is hilarious, messy, and quite the rollercoaster ride. Great entertainment value. A good choice if you are looking for a children's book as a gift, as it has broad appeal.

I read all five in a row and I absolutely love the little girl's imagination and how she brings her unicorn to life while sharing chaotic adventures together!
Put a goofy grin on my face.
I received a complimentary copy of these ebooks. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
My kids LOVED this book. We are big fans of unicorns here, and of course reindeer also. So this book was right up our alley. It's a cute book about a little girl who really wanted one of Santa's reindeer to come visit her for her birthday. But when a reindeer shows up, there is constant competition between the reindeer and her unicorn. The competitions are super cute, and the illustrations add to the joke.
Then of course someone has to save Christmas... my daughter's favorite line is on the last page of the book. It really is a favorite and from a parent perspective it is cute. We've read it several times since purchasing it and I haven't gotten sick of it yet.
Never Let a Unicorn Meet a Reindeer by Diane Alber is a Fantasy book. This book has won no awards. The age group that this book is for 4-7 year olds. This book is about a young girl who wanted a reindeer for her birthday. But she has a unicorn and Santa doesn't think that it is a good idea. I would rate this book 4 stars. I feel this way because the pictures aren't as appealing to me. Also, the plotline isn't that interesting. But I still feel as though this book may appeal to children who love unicorns and reindeers. When working with children it could be used to differ real from make believe.
Here 📘 is nothing but fun, fun, fun. I highly recommend this reindeer and unicorn 📘 to 👦 and 👧 alike. If you already have a unicorn who wouldn't want a reindeer. She wanted one of 🎅 reindeer for her 🎂. She thought he would go back in time for Christmas. She wrote Santa a 📝 and put it in the 📪. She had a reindeer party 🎉. When there was a knock on the 🚪. What is it? Who could it be? Is it 🎅? Is it a reindeer? You get to listen/read and find out.
Have a child or grandchild? This is the perfect book to get them reading. In fact if they like laugh out loud and unicorns this whole series is a must have for most young readers. My 9 yr old struggles with reading being dyslexic but she memorized all of the other books on the series so I gave her this one. She read it to ME! First one she was able to read to me not me to her. Proud ! She said everyone should own the unicorn series and please to tell the other readers to never paint any unicorns just ask them nicely to read with you.
A little girl writes to Santa because she would like one of his reindeer to come to her house for her birthday. Likely for her, Santa sends Kiki, a beautiful little reindeer, but he includes a warning to never let a reindeer meet a unicorn. But Unicorn meet Kiki nonetheless and they do not get along. They are highly competitive. It's not until Santa has a crisis that only Unicorn can solve that the two horned creatures join forces. Through that effort they become fast friends.
Well, I never thought a unicorn and reindeer could work together to save Christmas, but yep...it happened! LOL. This is a precious book with wonderful vibrant graphics children (and adults) will love. I can definitely see me buying this book for my two grandchildren for Christmas. Recommended!

I would like to thank Sourcebooks Kids/ Sourcebooks Wonderland and NetGalley for a free eARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.
The prefect book for Christmas in July (even though I'm reading it in September). This book could be used to talk about competition and cooperation. It is for very young children, but the illustrations are very expressive, and the use of color is very intentional.
This is the one time you don’t need to listen to Santa 🎅! Go ahead, let the reindeer meet a unicorn 🦄 and let your imagination go wild!
That is what one little Reindeer Fan chose to do. Together they had grand adventures: donut 🍩 tosses, shooting rainbows 🌈 , and best of all together they rescued Christmas 🎄 🌈.
This book borrows a little from the story formula of Rudolph but also makes it unique and fun. I'm starting to enjoy the tales of the little girl and her imaginative take on a plush unicorn. It's fun and amusing and overall the kind of thing I would read to my own child if I had one.
I have to say this book had me smiling from start to finish! I love the concept of the little fueling loving reindeers and wanting a reindeer to visit for her birthday! I love the competitiveness between the unicorn and reindeer. I love how after months they came together! What a great story, what a great lesson! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🦄🦌
I didn't see an emotional connection with this book. I think it was a fun read about a reindeer and a unicorn and would peak students' interests but not one I would read to students to give an emotional connection. I liked the illustrations of the book I wish the unicorn and the reindeer were colored.
When a little girl wishes to meet a reindeer, chaos and fun ensue! The Unicorn and Reindeer are competitive and drive her nuts for months, until Santa needs help! Unicorn and Reindeer team up and save the day!
We are fans of this series, and this was a delightful addition for the holiday season. Full of mischief and teamwork.
This story was pretty silly BUT I am still going to read it to my kiddos around Christmas. Move over Rudolph.....Unicorn is in town! lol
I didn't know that unicorns and Reindeer are competitive but apparently they are! I loved the cute battle of the best between the two. I also loved how they put aside their differences and saved Christmas.
This was a cute book, full of imagination. The concept of a unicorn helping guide Santa's sleigh was really fun. The illustrations matched the story well. The font chosen was a little tricky to read and the ending was a bit of a disappointment. Maybe one day we will find out why you should never let a unicorn meet a reindeer!
My daughter loves this book! We are new to reading on kindle, but she thinks it’s pretty awesome and so do I. Cute story line, adorable illustrations, perfect for a JK kid.
Meet a reindeer because shenanigans will ensue! Me and my kiddo loved this book, we had a fun time thinking of all the reasons why a unicorn and reindeer might not get along!
In this humorous story, watch what happens when a unicorn and a reindeer meet for the first time. Hijinks and shenanigans ensue but there is a touching resolution to the story. I won't spoil anything, read it yourself!
"I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own." The other Reindeer books in the series I have read seemed more organized or worth reading. This seemed like it needed more editing. It was weirdly thrown together.
Never Let A Unicorn Meet A Reindeer! (Kindle Edition) by Diane Alber A seasonal book to continue the unicorn series. The book is similar to if you give a mouse a cookie. The connection to Christmas is silly and will make a great seasonal book for a young elementary classroom.
