This book contains adult language and sexual content. Someone: A Novella. When retired NFL star Colton Rivers takes over his father’s business and becomes the CEO of Rivers Digital Solutions, he quickly develops the hots for Whitney Jones, the company’s most valued application developer. After learning of her resignation, Colton uses the company’s Dating App to woo her back into his arms. Their time together reopens a past that explains why she hates his guts.
If only it was edited a little more this would have been a 5 star read!! It was a sexy, sweet, funny, and awkward workplace romance that really brought a smile to my face and soul.

Not a bad book, but this one had so many spelling and grammatical errors, it was extremely distracting from the story as a joke which was pretty enjoyable. Such a bummer!
This had a lot of spelling mistakes, which was completely distracting.
I didn't find that the romance was compelling enough to make up for the spelling mistakes. Other than the fact that they wanted to jump each other's bones, I just didn't buy the chemistry between Colton and Whitney.
I did like that one scene where they're about to go into a fancy restaurant and Whitney throws some casual shade at Colton for being born rich. He basically just throws it right back to her when he tells her that they can go eat at McDonald's if she has a problem with it. Yaaasss! Thank you, Colton.
I think another issue I had with this is that I didn't really like Whitney. We know next to nothing about her backstory and she's really rude to Colton for the majority of the novella, even though he's tripping all over himself to please her.
Conflict for the sake of conflict happens. Nothing they couldn't have just talked out, except they never really have a heart-to-heart conversation. In the end they just kind of get together and three years later and they're married with kids.
For such a short little thing I found it hard to finish. I just kind of tuned out when they revealed the MCs had slept together in college. It just wasn't interested or compelling to me.
Also, it happened 12 years before the events of the novella and Whitney is still upset because Colton didn't remember. Girl, move on, it was a one-night stand 12 freaking years ago. Even without a concussion, I wouldn't blame Colton for not remembering a random one-night stand from over a decade ago when he was a dumb college kid.
Anyway, this wasn't for me. The sex scene was fine, I guess, except they lost me when they referred to Colton penis as his "sword." This is a super pet peeve, I know, but come on, just say "dick" or "cock" or anything other than these weird euphemisms.

Seems as though I am in the minority here, but I did not enjoy this as much as I thought I would. For me, I think I struggled with getting over the fact that Whitney was very much in her feelings about someone she slept with 12 years ago in college, but seemed to quickly get over that with little to no processing. That someone, Colton, is now running the company she is exiting and he cannot remember her and their one-night stand. A one night stand that just so happened to be Whitney's first time.
There is a reason for Colton's inability to recall, but it is not made known to Whitney until midway through. From what I recall, Whitney was not even the one to remind him of their previous encounter. It was actually Colton's best friend Quincy. Seeing as though Colton's lack of remembering pained her greatly, it would have been more empowering if Whitney had more agency over that conversation.
I also did not get Colton's appeal, nor did I experience any true chemistry between the two. The Connections Profile app matched them at 96%, but the reader never truly understands why. It puzzled me that they had such a high number, but neither of their profiles were filled out. I suppose I was just supposed to take the app's word for it.
The book's pacing felt stronger in the beginning half. Once Colton and Whitney began to explore whatever feelings they had, the pacing fell off and it felt as though scenes were being introduced just to get to the HEA. Also there were some side story choices I personally thought were unnecessary. I did not care for Colton's father at all and he very much read like a villain caricature, but his presence did little to actually move the plot along.
I do think that 'Someone' has a solid premise and could really shine if it was written in a full-length fashion. And if it was given some proper editing. There some themes that could be explored while the romance develops: like Whitney being a Black woman in app development and Colton grappling with traumatic brain injuries (concussions).

This is the definition of a rom-com! It was funny, it was sexy, it was cute, it was everything. None of the characters were flat, even the side characters. I hope this is a series, I want to see Quincy and Serena get together. Whitney and Colton’s relationship developed well and the pacing was just right. That epilogue was everything I needed! I didn’t give it five stars because of the grammatical and spelling errors but this author is on track for great rom-com novellas.
I Picked Up This Book Because: Combination of cover love and needing something short to fill a gap.
The Characters:
Whitney Jones: Colton Rivers IV
The Story:
This was exactly what I wanted at the time, a short steam romp. I liked the story but I am appalled at it’s lack of editing. Especially when the steamy parts came, nothing gets me out of the mood like typos, dropped words and sentences with no ending.
Overall I enjoyed the story. Colton and Whitney make a cute couple
The Random Thoughts:
I’m pretty sure the water on the compound is spiked with fertility drugs.
I actually really loved this one! It was short enough that it didn't feel like the story was dragging, but long enough that there was a developed enough story.
I absolutely LOVE second chance books especially when it's enemies to lovers. Their chemistry was so good, and I was laughing out loud at several parts. I also loved that we could see both of their point of views to see how they both felt about each other because it added to the tension in certain scenes (especially during the big reveal of why .)
I was drawn in from the beginning too, and read half the book on the first night which is always a good sign.
I'm definitely going to check out Kendra's other books!
This was a very cute story and a quick read. I was a little confused by the characterization though. I wasn’t sure if the hero, Colton, was meant to be a sweet and nervous guy, or a charming and dominant guy. He was both and it was a bit confusing—almost as if he were two different people. The plot was good, but it got a bit twisted toward the end when the author made it seem like there was a “betrayal”, which there was not.
Although this was a good, quick read, there were many spelling and grammatical errors, which pulled me out of the story.
What a beautiful little story! I know the bar for men is in hell, but Colton was so respectful and appropriate and just so soft. Whitney was funny and sarcastic and grumpy and gave him such a ride! The epilogue was everything tho! Definitely recommend this!
Afte reading this book I have realized that I am not someone who particularly loves Novellas. There's just never really anytime for the story to develop. I I feel like I could never see myself giving more than a 3 star review, so with that said this wasn't a terrible story. I just feel like if this was a full length book I would have really enjoyed it more. It felt rushed. I feel like Whitney's decision to "forgive" Colton was out of nowhere. Like we didn't get to see her come to that decision, one page she hates him 3 pages later she's sending him a Spotify song, and can't stop thinking about him. But why is it cause he's hot? Did they have some cute banter we didn't see? Idk? And then the sex scene, what was that? Like here's this sweet guy who just wants to woo this girl he didn't remember doing wrong then all if a sudden a switch is flipped and he's all "we're doing this, cause you owe me?" Excuse me? Nope. I did enjoy the epilogue, I feel like it was wrapped up with a cute bow, and that's ultimately what I want when reading a romance, a HEA.

I so enjoyed this book. I loved Colton 1 4.! This book was like one of the Rom Com movies that you watch on a weekend morning even though you have seen it several times before. I enjoyed that there was an actual story. Would have given a higher rating but had some editing issues
This was a refreshing read with a delightful H and H. Loved how the "gorgeous" hero gave himself affirmations and was nervous around the heroine. Loved how she wasn't as squeaky clean as she originally came across, but also wasn't as bad as all that. The book did need another read through to correct a few awkward sentences and some grammar issues.
Short, quick read that I got through in a few hours. Beside a few typos, it was a well written book that has an interesting story line. I appreciated the straight to the point story telling and little angst. Will read more from this author
I gave this novella 3.5⭐️. Colton is a former retired pro football player who has recently taken over as CEO of his family’s business, Rivers Digital Solutions. He’s inheriting the business from his father who was feared and not very well liked by his employees. Colton wants to be a different kind of boss (if only his father would stop trying to run things from retirement). One who is approachable and liked by the office. Especially by Whitney.
Whitney is an employee of RDS on her way out. She’s worked hard but isn’t valued like she should be. She’s starting a new job and can’t wait to be done with RDS…and Colton. They hooked up in college but with the way he acts, one would assume they never met. He’s always around being the pretentious rich boy that he is but acts like he doesn’t know her.
Blindsided by her fast approaching exit from RDS, Colton tries the only thing he knows to get her attention…spending time with her under the guise of testing out a new app she developed for the company.
Being as this was a novella it moved very fast but it didn’t feel like I was missing parts of the story. It jumps right in with Colton already having met Whitney and bring drawn to her. It explains where they are now in relation to one another and also explains their past and why he doesn’t remember her (and it’s not as douchey as one would assume the reason to be).
I wasn’t too heavy, had it’s cute moments, didn’t draw out the story too long, and there was decent spice toward the end (it came really bluntly and I wasn’t sure how I felt about it at first). I was looking for a quick read after finishing up a book and this was a good choice.
This a no for me. Whitney was absolutely terrible with the way she treated Colton. Her one night stand with hooking up with a college boy who she thought didn’t remember her, doesn’t mean she can go around being a jerk to him. She was constantly suspicious and mean to him. The dinner date was horrible to read. She came off extremely immature and lacked simple and basic respect. Interrupted him, talk over him, didn’t want to receive his compliments, didn’t want him to hold the door for her, didn’t want him to pay for dinner and didn’t want him to drop him drop her off home. After their second hookup she ignored Colton for week and got upset when he joked about his lucky charm bracelet. I’m not a fan of lead female roles who have zero character development and chose to be “miss independent” throughout the entire story. It’s not cute or attractive. I never read a romance story where I wished the male lead would just peace out and find someone else. As annoying as Whitney was, Colton wasn’t a favorite of mine either. He came off weak and huge doormat when it came to old flame. He hardly spoke up for himself! This story just lacked depth between the characters. They had moments where they “connected” but it really wasn’t there. I felt it more on Colton’s end but Whitney’s suspension blocked everything. It seemed their relationship was only built on lust and hooking up.
I'm a bit disappointed because I was in for a fun steamy romance. We got the romance and at some points it was hilarious. I did in fact laugh out loud several times. I loved Whitney's wit and sarcasm. And Colton daydreaming about her 98% of the time was gold.
But then we get an ending like that? This author made me wait for the one steamy scene (yes, one) until the second to last chapter. It honestly felt like that scene was written by someone else, it was so cringey. The word sword was used... I'll leave that here to warn you 😅 I felt the little bits Whitney remembered from their first time and Colton's imagened encounters were better than that entire scene.
The rest was super rushed. Apparently the had sex once, married like 3 seconds later, and had two kids. I get it's a novella but come on!

This was a very cute and funny story. Whitney and Colton were likeable characters. I would have rated this higher if it wasn't for the many copy editing issues that were missed i.e. periods at the end of dialogue when there should have been commas, compound words that were separated, and for whatever reason, whenever the author referred to Colton's penis it was truncated i.e. instead of reading "hard on" it would just be "hard." His hard...hard what? I knew but it just needed to literally be spelled out. Oh and the love scene, imo was written in a raunchy manner when the rest of the book was borderline wholesome. It just seemed a little out of place with the overall tone of the book. Besides those things, I did enjoy this novella and I do recommend.
This was a cute book about Colton IV and Whitney. Colton was named CEO of his company, taking his ruthless father’s place after he retired. Everyone hated Colton III and their discourse passed along to C-IV. Whitney was one of their top employees and C-IV had a huge crush on her. Little did he know they went to college together and had a one night escapade during her Freshman year. She remembered because he took her v card and it was the best sex of her life. Unfortunately he had forgotten due to a major concussion suffered in the football field.
I live the cute banter between this couple. I wanted to see more dates and fun times with them, but the story was still good. I enjoyed it very much.
I was warned that this book was error-filled before I chose to read it. And boy, did it live up to that warning. However, I loved it. The story was creative, charming and funny. I'd love to see it made into a movie. On top of everything else it was witty and sexy. However, it could use the experience of a good editor/proof reader. There were so many grammatical errors that it sometimes took away the enjoyment of the book. I still recommend it though because it was just so fun and creative. But just know that on every page you'll encounter at least two or three errors. Good fun, charming, witty and sexy but in need of a good editor.
I really enjoyed this book. The cover and synopsis of the book caught my attention when I was looking for something to read. The author wrote a great story about a famous football jock and a smart nerd in college. I enjoyed Colton the most because he was so misunderstood and blamed for so much. Whitney was caught up in memories that made her a hard nut to crack with Colton, but Whitney had secrets too. I love that the author didn't rush them straight to bed. The sexual tension was undeniable between the two and Whitney's sister was a trip. Overall I really loved this story. Thanks to the author.
Randomly picked this up because it was on my Kindle discover page. I think this book had a lot of potential - it’s a love story between a Black woman who works in app development and a privileged, wealthy white CEO who wronged her in the past.
Unfortunately I felt like Whitney’s story/life was underdeveloped. I wanted more info on her. She’s described as a brilliant app developer but we barely talk about it. She quits and goes to their competitor and again we barely touch on it.
I didn’t buy the “chemistry” between them (when did they cross from hate > okay > like?) and was surprised and uncomfortable when they suddenly had sex.
This was a cute second-chance office romance. The novella length made it perfect for a one-day read. I enjoyed seeing how these two rekindled a romance they weren't sure they really had in the first place. heat level is steamy as the author has said with one open-door scene. Also the way these two interact gives a hint of enemies-to-lovers, but only on the heroine's side. This guy definitely falls first!
Enjoyable read. Solid 3.5 stars here. There were several grammar/spelling/typo mistakes that kept me from going to 4 stars, but the nature of my job makes me hyperaware of proofreading errors.
I enjoyed this story a lot more than I expected to. Normally, I shy away from romances where the characters knew each other in high school or college and get back together years later because they usually smack of small-town memories. I think this one was saved by the fact that it is set in NYC so the characters aren't visiting all their old haunts and such.
The author did a great job of not overloading her limited word count with sex scenes. I have to say that the sex that IS in the story is SPICY! Readers might want to keep a glass of iced tea handy :-).
This was a quick read. Unfortunately it was a little choppy in places. It lacked flow. There was a cute exchange midway through where the main characters were talking to different people and the conversations would pick up where the other left off. But the main characters hadn't even kissed until nearly the end of the book...the one big scene is in the last line 35-40 pages but there's no real heat. If you're looking for something quick and not hardcore, give it a read
Twelve years later after losing her virginity to star wide receiver Whitney and Colton are working together. Only thing is Colton's many concussion has wiped his memory. So I think the virginal pact and rounchy office sex didn't quite click for me. But there was certainly a happy ending (pun intended). The typos were also distracting.
How embarrassing that must have been to meet your first sexual encounter after many years only to have him not remember. I thought Whitney was too hard on Colton especially after they finally got together AGAIN and she ghosted him. The story had a nice twist and a HEA. I will definitely read this new author again. Whitney the man had a concussion and you stole his lucky charm!!!! SMH...
The thing I dislike the most in romantic stories is miscommunication. Thankfully, this story had very little. Whitney and Colton were not the most forthright people but they did let things out. I also liked the fact that this included an epilogue. Most of the times, I would like to know what happens with the characters. All in all, this was a very sweet novella.
