Love is a risk they're both terrified to take.

Single father to a daughter born with special needs, Greg's whole life is advocating for his little girl in a society that doesn't understand mental handicaps.

He isn't supposed to want anything more...

Georgia dreams of a better life--and she's willing to work for it. Two jobs in Chicago to make ends meet, she doesn't have time for a relationship and no interest in one, either.

That is, until she meets Greg. He's got eyes like a summer night and a voice she can't sweat out.

But love is more than hot nights and fireworks.

Love is a chance.

Will they take it?

Having lived all her life in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, author Bree M. Lewandowski incorporates all aspects of her life in her writing. A ballet dancer at a young age, continuing to teach ballet through her career as an author, she often turns to the tumultuous world of dance to find threads of a story. In love with classical literature, her writing not only pays homage to the style of writers like Dumas and Hugo, she also believes in creating main characters who are larger than life. Yet, struggles with body image, mental and emotional health, and the strained relationships so many have also play in and out of Lewandowski's writing. In the end, all these attributes combined, she loves to tell a love story.

I enjoyed this book but it was over far too quickly. The story only seemed to be building when it finished. I wanted to know more about how the characters gelled their lives together. I expected some kind of complication whilst they were together and then a nice resolution. There was a lot of description which was good but not always necessary and could have been cut to allow for a longer story.

I was gifted this book from Voracious reader.

This is a beautiful story of a love between Greg and Georgia. He is a widowed father of an autistic daughter and has to put her needs first. The characters in this short story are wonderfully well developed and the storyline is well written, with tragedy, joy, and a sweet romance.

Greg is a widower, taking care of his 8 year old daughter who suffers with severe non-verbal Autism and special needs. Georgia is a go-getter who knows what she wants but for some reason after meeting Greg at his gym, she is somewhat anxious about going after what she wants. Will she let her past dictate her future?

At a quick, short 130 pages, this romantic novella is a perfect pick me up. The only criticism I have is that it is definitely a “slow-burner” and I didn’t actually get gripped by this until about half way through. However, it was well worth pushing forward because it’s true what they say…”Good things to those who wait!”

This is another new author for me, but I’ve discovered since reading This Delicate Thing, she has written quite a few romantic novellas which I will 100% be looking out for in the future.

If steamy quickies and romance are your thing, then I definitely recommend this!

Thank you Voracious Readers Only for a gifted copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

She is the maid that cleans his gym. He is a military veteran and a widowed father of a special needs daughter. Their first encounter was a bit awkward but when they see each other again and again they both realize that there is an attraction. But he has a hard time starting a relationship because his daughter's care is rather demanding.

This was my first Lewandowski book. It is beautifully written, and I liked the way some things were implied in between the lines. I did not care for the heroine's irritability, as she seemed peeved with the hero for no real reason sometimes.

The book ends in a happy for now, as the couple have decided to act on their attraction but it's not clear how much the hero can invest in a relationship and how the heroine and his daughter will adjust.

I enjoyed the premise of the story and really appreciated the view from Greg who is the single father of a special needs daughter. The detail that went into that part of their lives was eye-opening and not something I've read a lot about. Where it failed for me was the relationship between Georgia and Greg. You already know when you pick up the book that it is a romance so you expect them to fall in love, but I felt like it happened way too quickly on their first date and I just couldn't wrap my head around that. I needed more to go into their relationship for me to get invested in the happily ever after.

Also, I could not stop thinking that the man on the cover looks like a player on the Chicago Cubs and though it had no effect on my rating, it was driving me nuts!

I was sent this book free through the Voracious Readers Only program in return for my honest review.

I received a complimentary copy of This Delicate Thing from the author via Voracious Readers Only, and I'm glad I did.

I enjoyed the author's writing style and the characters' nature. I found it beautiful reading about two people who despite their experiences in life, were blunt and confident about their feelings and future. The author gives a glimpse of how men would be if they were honest with their feelings all the time, which was great!
I liked how Deidre's character progressed, and Bree made it easy to understand her and what she was going through daily.

I hope this book has a second(and third) part because I will definitely read it!

I received a copy of this novel free from the Voracious Readers Only List. This is honestly one of the best books I have read recently! As a reader you are invited right in to the lives of Greg Deirdre, and Georgia. The author writes very descriptively about the setting, and the love story is based in a very real situation for the characters. A single widowed father with a special needs child, trying to get back in the dating er, love game. The dialogue is smart, funny and sexy. The only thing I would change is to make the story a bit longer!

I was sent a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. I loved the beginning of this story. The characters had baggage and weren't living amazing lives. They felt like real people you could actually be friends with.
The flirty banter between the two main characters was a nice contrast to the baggage they had.
About two thirds of the way through, it started to feel rushed. And then it was just over. I would like to see how things progress between the main characters and how each of their characters grow personally with the other one beside them.

While not my usual type of novel, this one began with well-drawn characters and the promise of an interesting plot. Unfortunately it failed to deliver. The overly flowery and descriptive writing style blocked my enjoyment of the characters. However, I soldiered on, teased by the expected happy and satisfying ending. That expectation didn’t deliver; the story just sort of ends.

Not your normal HEA. Delightful look into the life of a parent with a disabled child. The writing was good, and the descriptions of what life would be like with a disabled child are very believable.

The novel could have been a little longer. The ending leaves much to the imagination.

I would recommend this one who enjoys romance/HEA novels.

I was given a complimentary copy of this story by the author through Voracious Readers Only!
This story was about an ex Army, gym owner with a special needs daughter and a hard working woman who never "needed" a man in her life. Neither one wants the complications of a relationship, but can't stop thinking about one another. I liked how both main characters were no nonsense, no games and how family stepped up for Greg when he needed help.

This book is about a widowed man named Greg with an autistic daughter named Deidre. And a hardworking woman, working two jobs named Georgia. This was a really sweet and quick read. I loved that Greg was a very loving father and that Georgia was very understanding that his daughter would always come first. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone looking for a quick and easy read.

My first book from this author and kept me interested enough in her style to read more. The story was a good one but I felt it was a little under developed. I’d have liked to see more about the relationship between Georgie and Deidre, and there were a few inconsistencies.

The story of a Widowed single father who's daughter is autistic. Touched quite close to home for me for a fiction. Quick read. Would recommend.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers Only. First read from this author and although she has amazing writting skills I didn't enjoy this story as much as I had hoped. There wasn't enough chemistry or drama for me to understand the struggles that both main character were going through and there wasn't enough story for me to understand how their relationship could last the test of time. Also where it could have been spicy it just fizzled.

Couldn't put this one down, so much description from start to finish and how Georgia was willing to wait upon a single father who puts his daughter first before anything else

I loved also how he manages his own gym and life at the same time

It's a great romance book and I definitely would recommend and I also would read other books by this author.

🌟🌟🌟Life as a single parent is a delicate balance🌟🌟🌟

A slower and carefully paced book that made me think beneath the words as I was reading it. Using lots of metaphors and descriptive words, it led me along at a steady pace much like a life that a parent must create when caring for their autistic child. No wild surprises, loud noises or sudden breaks in routines, This Delicate Thing shows a relationship that builds as delicately balanced as the life that Greg leads with his autistic daughter Deidre. Life didn’t quite work out as planned for him because he never planned to become a father AND a widower on the same day.

When Bree Lewandowski introduced Deidre to me, she was easily a reincarnation of the several children I have known through my friendships with their parents. I’ve seen the struggles, and I have so much admiration and respect for Greg, as I’ve had for my friends and any parent with a child in this spectrum. Like them, his life is a delicate balance and on any day, it is dictated by the reactions of his daughter to the stimulus of life’s events. Screaming ambulances can ruin things at a moments notice.

Georgia is a young woman who was working hard to live life on her own terms and although things haven’t quite worked out, I loved her strong and resilient character.

They met under the most inauspicious of occasions, forced down the slow route of bare civility where a small spark was almost smothered under the anger of indignation but eventually came to life. Georgie muses that if they’d met under different circumstances, could things have flared and burnt out just as quickly. Who knows what fate has in store for any of us?

I have no idea how Ms. Lewandowski made a relatively quick read seem like a full length book. It fits in the sweet end of the romance scale, and even though I prefer more heat in my reading, I certainly didn’t miss it. If ex-military, single fathers owning a gym is what you like the sound of, then this is your next read. 4 Stars.

You know you have found a go to author when you see her name and just say yes to the book without even checking what it's about. Well there's a reason this author is one on my list, I never know what to expect. Now I am not one for insta-love but I have to admit I was stunned into submission with this book. This author takes us into the life of a man who has had tragedy strike him at all the wrong times and is now raising his daughter alone. But you see his life is far from normal and she doesn't quite fit that mold either. With quiet acceptance he handles his daily life until he gets a new service provider at his gym. There's nothing subtle between these two but the dance is fun and real life and so is the read. Once again I finish one of this author's books and I am struck dumb, fumbling for words to convey what needs to be said. I love this author's way with words and descriptions of this special and wonderful little girl and the world she lives in. A beautiful and emotional read from an author who will win you over with the beauty of words and the wonder of a child.

Greg once had his life on track. He was making a career in the army and happily married (or at least I assume so). However, in one day everything is changed drastically for Greg. He becomes a widower and a father all at once. Now his days revolve around his daughter and running his gym.

Georgia came to Chicago with one thing in mind. To leave her small town behind. However, plans don't always go according to plan and Georgia finds herself working at a cleaning service and slinging drinks in bar to veterans.

For both Greg and Georgia relationships really aren't on the radar. But when these two meet there is just something there that needs to be explored.

I wish we would've once again gotten more. These short novellas are all about building up to them deciding to take a chance on each other, but nothing after.
How is life going to go for Greg, Dei, and Georgia?
How does Georgia adjust to her boyfriend having a special needs kid?
Is there a future beyond just the lust they were building up?

Why does Greg get a phone call in the middle of the night at the start of this story? From whom? About what? Who is Maple? Who is Deidre? What is special about their relationships? I like Kathy! I am more than a touch head-over-heals in love with Greg. Seeing the kind of father he is makes me think of some of the parents that I know and have seen with their children. I have the pleasure of working with parents who have children with Autism and they are awe-inspiring for me. Reading this story about Greg's trials on making his daughter's life as easy and as good as he can truly melted my heart. I love Georgie! She's great! Read and see what I mean!

Another amazing story by Bree M. Lewandowski but everything I have read from here are wonderful. Two completely different people come together because of a door that locks behind Georgia. Owner of the business Greg comes down of that and for some reason after that first meeting they can't forget each other. But his life consist of work and the loving care of his autistic daughter, makes him feel that he can't have another person in his life no matter how lonely he is. Georgia works two jobs to get by and yet deal with discrimination against her. What is going to happen for them next? That is for the next reader to find out but I will tell you that this book is worth every minute you spend reading it.

I just finished reading this ARC, and it’s been released this weekend. It was so good. Greg is the owner of a gym, and he spends his time either working or caring for his autistic daughter that he adores. Georgia works two jobs to pay her rent, despite having a degree. She also has to deal with people judging her and making assumptions based on the color of her skin. Neither one of them have the time or energy to forge a relationship, but love has found a way. I loved this story.

I really enjoy a good single dad romance so this was definitely on the must-read list for me and it ended up being so much more than I thought it was. So a novella sized read this book sure does pack a punch. This is Greg and Georgia neither one of them are looking for love or even a relationship when they meet after she is locked out of his gym there is just something between them that cannot be ignored. This is a must-read give it a go you won't be disappointed.

Georgia is working two jobs after she moves to Chicago one tending a bar at a VFW and cleaning at night. They neither one are looking for a relationship but their attraction is too strong to resist.

Baby steps.
These two characters are so right for each other but hesitant for similar but different reasons.
She is focused on a future built through time and sacrifice.
His future is taking care of his mentally disabled daughter and changing the views of the skeptics.
A chance meeting sets their life course in a different direction.

This is an amazing book about Greg who has an autistic daughter and Georgia who works two jobs to make ends meet. When they meet it is instant connection and chemistry but will it be enough with all the baggage that they both have. I definitely recommend you read this book as it is well written and worth reading.

Fantastical story...this author can write and I've really really enjoyed everything she's done. This is a sweet heart-warming story of challenges when raising children especially when they have special needs! Not everyone understands the struggles but we can empathize. The loneliness of 2 people with different struggles. Its a great story and gets you in the feels.
