Guts, the Black Swordsman, and his companions have finally arrived at the sea, where they discover a mysterious child who seems to share a special bond with Guts and his former lover, the now-mad Casca. The troupe's brief respite at the shore offers moments for quiet introspection and deeper bonding, but such peace is always short lived where Guts is involved, and Guts must once again don the demonic Berserker Armor to take on a force of bloodthirsty beasts emerging from the once-peaceful surf, possessed by the accursed sorcery of a powerful Kushan enchanter! And who knows what will happen when internal strife pushes a member of Guts's band unknowingly into the comforting companionship of an enemy!
Kentarou Miura (三浦建太郎) was born in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, in 1966. He is left-handed. In 1976, at the early age of 10, Miura made his first Manga, entitled "Miuranger", that was published for his classmates in a school publication; the manga ended up spanning 40 volumes. In 1977, Miura created his second manga called Ken e no michi (剣への道 The Way to the Sword), using Indian ink for the first time. When he was in middle school in 1979, Miura's drawing techniques improved greatly as he started using professional drawing techniques. His first dōjinshi was published, with the help of friends, in a magazine in 1982.
That same year, in 1982, Miura enrolled in an artistic curriculum in high school, where he and his classmates started publishing their works in school booklets, as well as having his first dōjinshi published in a fan-produced magazine. In 1985, Miura applied for the entrance examination of an art college in Nihon University. He submitted Futanabi for examination and was granted admission. This project was later nominated Best New Author work in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. Another Miura manga Noa was published in Weekly Shōnen Magazine the very same year. Due to a disagreement with one of the editors, the manga was stalled and eventually dropped altogether. This is approximately where Miura's career hit a slump.
In 1988, Miura bounced back with a 48-page manga known as Berserk Prototype, as an introduction to the current Berserk fantasy world. It went on to win Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School. In 1989, after receiving a doctorate degree, Kentarou started a project titled King of Wolves (王狼, ōrō?) based on a script by Buronson, writer of Hokuto no Ken. It was published in the monthly Japanese Animal House magazine in issues 5 and 7 of that year.
In 1990, a sequel is made to Ourou entitled Ourou Den (王狼伝 ōrō den, The Legend of the Wolf King) that was published as a prequel to the original in Young Animal Magazine. In the same year, the 10th issue of Animal House witnesses the first volume of the solo project Berserk was released with a relatively limited success. Miura again collaborated with Buronson on manga titled Japan, that was published in Young Animal House from the 1st issue to the 8th of 1992, and was later released as a stand-alone tankōbon. Miura's fame grew after Berserk was serialized in Young Animal in 1992 with the release of "The Golden Age" story arc and the huge success of his masterpiece made of him one of the most prominent contemporary mangakas. At this time Miura dedicates himself solely to be working on Berserk. He has indicated, however, that he intends to publish more manga in the future.
In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk that aired in the same year on NTV. Various art books and supplemental materials by Miura based on Berserk are also released. In 1999, Miura made minor contributions to the Dreamcast video game Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage. 2004 saw the release of yet another video game adaptation entitled Berserk Millennium Falcon Arc: Chapter of the Record of the Holy Demon War.
Since that time, the Berserk manga has spanned 34 tankōbon with no end in sight. The series has also spawned a whole host of merchandise, both official and fan-made, ranging from statues, action figures to key rings, video games, and a trading card game. In 2002, Kentarou Miura received the second place in the Osamu Tezuka Culture Award of Excellence for Berserk.[1]
Miura provided the design for the Vocaloid Kamui Gakupo, whose voice is taken from the Japanese singer and actor, Gackt.
Miura passed away on May 6, 2021 at 2:48 p.m. due to acute aortic dissection.
This is the review of Berserk Vol 28 AKA 100 ways to chop a crocodile. First of all who is the kid that looks like a kushan, but evidently he is not a kushan, and he looks like a possible son of Griffith and Casca, but we know what happened to that son! and he looks like a possible son of Casca and Guts, and we know what happened to that son as well!! So who is he? he has powers, he made the astral armor of Guts shatter with his bare hand, and stopped him in his tracks. I guess one more thing to look out for in the next volumes. Griffith marrying princess Charlotte to make the humans feel like he is one of them, or so this much told by the story of his oracle. I doubt Guts will ever be able to control the berserk armor, he got so much hate that it is impossible to control against a creature that feeds of your hate. Now on to the next, we got a slow volume, and the next must be a firecracker!
Look at all these soldier-folk - the hosts gathering from all of the Holy See's territories to do battle with the Kushan. The Kushan whom we've already seen to be objectively superior. We can tell even now, even well in advance, the massacre that is to come. We can smell it.
It's all here to make Griffith look better, I suppose. Everything is fated to happen. Even the great emperor Ganishka, so struggling against fate and being his own person, is playing right to its hand. It'd be a little bit sad if he wasn't such a terrible person. It definitely is a little bit sad for all the fodder we can see gather here. Or the slaves that got hanged through no fault of their own.
Been a while since we had a big city, anyway. We never did spend all that much in the urban ground, thinking about it, and it would've been nice if we'd gotten to stay here a while longer. It's a new kind of realm that could have brought forth a great deal more for the Black Swordsman to do, more trouble to get into... but then, given the pace the story's headed at this point, perhaps us moving on is for the best.
'Un jour, les yeux perdent leur couleur, la langue perd le goût, le bout des doigts n'en peut plus de trembler. Ceci est une prédiction. Si tu enchaînes les batailles en tant que berserk, revêtu de cette armure... la lumière, la voix, la chaleur... tu finiras par perdre tout cela, et plus.'
"You try to settle everything cleverly in your mind. And only worry about others. It takes your mind off things, but..well, if you keep doing that while your still a kid, you'll become a twisted adult."
Sempre bello vedere come i personaggi siano strettamente collegati gli uni agli altri in intrecci per niente scontati. Non vedo l'ora di leggere il prossimo volume.
Another great volume! I loved the fighting scenes and the Guts going berserk and consequences of it scenes were so powerful and vivid.
mild spoilers: - who is that kid??? WHO IS IT??? - I like the change of setting but I'm nervous about the squad around so many people - The blond witch girl make me nervous
Guts, Guts, Guts. He has swiftly become my favorite character and he remains there still. Shierke and Guts relationship is so lovely.
Continuing the Falcon of the Millennium Empire Arc - Falconia Chapter
On the seaside, Guts has a talk with Skull Knight and he wants Guts about the power of the Berserker armour taking over his spirit. And perhaps suggests there's a way for Casca to get her mind back.
Casca finds a small child wandering along on the beach at night.
The group is attacked by humanoid evil Crocodiles and then a huge leviathan beast. Guts's Berserker armour pretty much turns him into a monster, an animal. Schierke once again needs to help Guts snap out of it.
Guts and crew head to the nearby city of Vritannis in order to find a boat to take them to Elfhelm. Schierke looking like a witch is going to get in trouble if she wears her outfit. Schierke finds a bunch of men that were hung she cuts them down and cremates them helping to release lets their spirits find rest. Sonia and Schierke meet in the shipyard. Then a bunch of pirates who have bought slave children show up and Schierke interferes.

Finally, some hope for Casca! It's nice to see something Guts can hope for besides revenge on Griffith. I can't help but wonder that if Casca finds herself, and they find Griffith, will she remember what happened during the eclipse? Will she be able to forgive Griffith? Or will she want revenge as much as Guts?
Me cansan las continuas peleas contra villanos random, me quedo por los momentos de desarrollo de escenario y personajes, cada vez más bonitos de mirar (gran trabajo del equipo que colabora con Miura).
Guts's interactions with Schierke were sweet and the art remains fantastic, but other than that this volume was a letdown. The plot is moving very slowly, the beast armor doesn't feel as significant as it should because Guts is immediately using it again in order to take out some uninteresting fodder in an action segment I don't care for at all. The introduction of the moonlight boy also felt out of place and sudden.
