If you feel like no matter what you do, your stress is never-ending, then this book is here to help you.
In this carefully considered book, Dr Libby Weaver helps you to illuminate your invisible load to provide insight into what’s driving the sense of overwhelm you feel for everyday tasks.
The design of this book was beautiful and Dr. Libby is always helpful and teaches us to be kind to our bodies and minds. However, I personally preferred Dr. Libby's Beauty From The Inside Out. I found this one to be targeted at an older age bracket than myself. Still, a nice book to have on the shelf.
This is a helpful book to refer back to. I did feel like it had a lot of info that I already knew or was commonsense. It was cool to learn more about the hormones involved in stress and learn more about stress management
Easy to read & good content - a beautifully presented book as well . Now to put into practise the thinking that most of our stress is “perception” and that is capable of change .
Very interesting book delving into why we stress as well as this understanding can help us find ways to remove the stresses.
Thought I would share for anyone else who creates stress by trying to live for how others see them rather than living for themselves. This includes anyone with insane to do lists or remembers everything for everyone or those with never enough hours in the day!
(I had to borrow this book 3 times from the library with the due date each time passing quicker than I found time to even open the book- not enough hours in the day!) 😁
The invisible load is what we carry around with us day in, day out - it weighs us down. It is our stresses and anxieties, and mostly the stupid things we tell ourselves -the stories we make up in our head. I don't belong, I'm not good enough, I'll never get the house of my dreams - all the negative self-talk. This book is amazing - it goes into the physiological effects of all the negativity on our body - how it affects the all the processes that occur under our skin and the outward result i.e. weight gain, acne etc. A real eye-opener for me, I certainly had a few light-bulb moments while I was reading this. And actually a real sense of relief too - 1. I'm not the only one that thinks these stupid thoughts, and 2. some tools and strategies to help me cope. Recommended.
I found this book to be very insightful. As a woman who stresses about a lot of things I found it had a lot of really good information on how to target that stress and implement things in my life to help me. A real eye opener if you are prone to taking on a lot of things at once and get stressed quite easily.
This book came into my life exactly when I needed it. It's hard hitting, and I feel can only be truly appreciated when the reader is at the right point in their lives.
I've been on a wellness journey for over a decade, and after years of supplements and diets not working - the concept of a dysregulated nervous system is very new to me. This is going to be my biggest hurdle yet.
The main takeaway for me is that you should examine your thoughts and consider how you are talking to yourself. I.e. what narrative are you keeping? With your mind you can change your outlook and reduce stressful thinking.
I also found the photographs nice to look at, and soothing.
Actually got a few good ideas from this book. Was worried that it would repeat a lot from her other books. Loved the set out of the book and found it easy to read and understand.
Another winner by Dr Libby. I struggled a little to get into it as it's not the easiest of reads, but absolutely worth it! Add this one to your collection but read when you have time and no distractions.
I bought this book after I'd seen Dr. Libby at one of her speaking events. There is a bit of double up (as expected) but I still loved this book nonetheless. Not all parts are relevant to me, or will be to everyone, but you take out of it what you need to / want to.
I especially liked the way it made me more aware of how I react to things in my life and I finished this book with new skills and understanding of how to reduce my 'load'.
