I am a Matchmaker on Taobao
(English Translated Title)
It's wasn't one of those novels that leave you with awe and reverence. But I still enjoyed reading it immensely, even shed a tear or two at times.
The premise is just so fascinating where the FL can see the marriage fate of others and helps them. Yet, she is not just a bystander in other people's lives, she lives her own life freely and fully.
Shen Chuchu's character may seem average but I liked it very much. She knew when to advance and when to retreat. She accepted her flaws and was totally okay with it and even improving upon it as much as she could.
Han Xingyan, the ML, is considerately for more generic CEO character. However, he was awkwardly cute and very much doting towards Chuchu. He was NOT an a-hole, but a perfect gentleman. He never let his jealousy and possessiveness hold his girlfriend back from her acting career. He wholeheartedly supported her in everything and did not meddle in her affairs without her permission, letting her deal with it on her own. Basically treating her as his equal which many Chinese overbearing CEOs somehow forget to do.
Both of their relationship can be summed up in one word- (clumsily) adorable!
There were also so many couples that we came across. Good and bad, both. Some had messy private lives, some were scumbags and cheaters.
However, the best thing were the couples that ultimately got together and lived in conjugal bliss. I even cried a little cause it was too sweet for me to handle.
One time, the FL predicts the first encounter between her client and her future husband at a Cafe and she goes there to witness it firsthand. There, both bump into each other at the last minute and they can be seen tugging at each other among the bustling crowd of the mall, through the glass window. This particular moment was a highlight for me. As it portrayed how a seemingly insignificant meeting like this sparks the future journey of soulmates. It was too romantic for me not to add this here.
Overall, a great bingeworthy entertainment industry trope novel. Nothing too awe-inspiring or anything. But still a solid one!
