Burning Mistakes #1

Broken Promises

Rate this book
A split-second decision. A costly mistake.
My skin has been marred, slashed, burned and bruised.
My bones have been severed and broken more times than I can count.
I’ve been told I was unworthy, fought through life seeing nothing but black.
But it’s a pain I welcome.
An ache I deserve.
UNTIL HER
She is my redemption.
The flicker of fire that dances in my darkness.
Our love is effortless.
Our love is a LIE.
A desire
A delusion.
A MISTAKE
She should have known better than to entrust me with her heart.
I should have known destiny wouldn’t give me a second chance…at least not one I could keep forever.
The black cloud is back.
And revenge is the only thing it has on its mind.

Broken Promises broke me. This book was beyond anything I was expecting. My heart was in my throat the majority of this story and I just knew my heart would be broken before it ended. I was right. And it ended on this amazing cliffhanger that I’m not sure I forgive Aimee Noalane for just yet.

I finished this book in the blink of an eye because I refused to put it down. I HAD to know what happened with Vince, what Micah was going to do, and how Aubrey was going to deal with it all! And that twin connection between Aubrey and Vince is the kind of relationship every sister wants with her brother. But the love between Micah and Aubrey? That’s the stuff that fairytales are made from. Thats the stuff that makes you sigh.

And then bam! Aimee ends it. Just like that. And I still haven’t recovered. I had to take a day to even try to put into words how this book - this ending - made me feel. And I’m still not sure. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good cliffhanger - and this is one of the best yet - but this book had me anxious from almost the very beginning so I would have loved that happily ever after! And I am begging Aimee Noalane to make the next book in the series the happily ever after because I cannot deal with anything else.

Aimee Noalane blew me away with her writing and the entire story! I loved how the timeline was interwoven throughout. I loved how this book made me feel. My heart absolutely cracked at the end and I don’t think it’s healed itself yet.

I read. A lot. And this book, of the 200 plus I’ve read in 2019? It’s in my top TWO. I would give this book many more than five stars, if I could. Aimee Noalane, once again, does not disappoint.

Note: AN ARC was provided by the author in exchange of an honest review.

The cover -Pretty intriguing and mysterious, it had my attention the first time I looked at it. So points to it.

The summary -Sounded so intriguing to be honest and I was eager to find out how their story would go. Points to that too.

The writing was way too confusing for me. Past and present linked together, with the present mostly being focused on, even that was more like the future then the actual present.

The romance not so sure about, I mean there was a hint of chemistry in early chapters but not later on as far as I read.

The personalities, I wish were a bit more explained but maybe because I didn’t read too much, it could look to me as still in the dark about how they are.
So yeah, can’t comment too much.

So not a recommend because of the time lapse and whatnot.

Until the next page,

And she does it again! Aimee Noalane may just be an emotional terrorist! And yet she leaves me needing more! Noloane delivers and angsty, emotional roller coaster of perfection! I'm still not sure why I thought I would leave this book ok.

Aimee Noalane holds nothing back and leaves you absolutely destroyed and begging her for more. Aubrey and Micah are opposites, their story is intense and complicated, and so damn good! They will make you laugh, cry, scream, throw your kindle, and want to run and tell Aimee how much you love her and hate her at the same time.

Noalane has mastered her craft, and gives us an absolute perfect book! I cannot wait for book two and will be the first one in line to read it!

Broken Promises by Aimee Noalane will break you for sure. Because it has so much angst and heartbreak! Aimee's words were piercing my heart, filling it with ache and making me cry ugly tears. This is one honest, raw and brutally tragic story which has only began.

I admit I have a thing for broken boys. Like a lot of you. And Micah is one of the most broken ones I have ever read. I shouted and cursed at the author silently for giving him so many wounds. The guilt, pain, regret and vulnerability this young soul carries is simply staggering. Everything is extreme and remarkable for this guy. His loyalty to his best friend and would be brother in law Vincent. His love for Aubrey. And so are his negative emotions. His devastating past has created a barrier around his shattered heart that was getting pieced together by Aubrey's sweet and unconditional love. And then one night of fire and broken promises turned everything upside down. Micah is running because he cannot hurt Aubrey anymore even if it is killing him. But he cannot imagine the disaster that will follow his road. That ending literally made me scream in frustration. Because I need answers! I cannot believe Aimee left me there!

The story moves back and forth in timeline and that was necessary to express Micah's personality and the changes. The chemistry was epic. It was sometimes dirty and nuclear hot with raw passion. And sometimes it was all about sweet redemption and hope. The relationship always had an edge of restlessness, desperation, intense craving and inner turmoil. That was equally beautiful and heartbreaking. The writing was brilliant.

If you want a story which will hurt you and hunt you for a long time, Broken Promises by Aimee Noalane is must read for you! The feelings will get deep in your soul and leave you in an emotional mess!

First off... HOLY HOTNESS this cover is SO DELICIOUS! It should up everyone’s interest.

This story is filled with intrigue and steam. Aubrey and Micah (love those names) have an intense story to tell. This author is new to me and takes me on a magical journey through her storytelling. She knows how to weave some sexy throughout its telling. Yum. Love the firefly reference. BEAUTIFUL.

I did struggle a bit with the present and past element of this telling. I realize it was a way of revealing critical information as the story progressed but sometimes I felt confused. Ugh yes it might just be an issue with me as a individual reader. Lol.

This story has several high octane moments that have me on the edge but having said that, a couple times I thought the drama felt juvenile. Eek, yep these characters are young so it might be appropriate. Haha.

The end of this book (deep breath) I want to cry just thinking about. The flashback part wrecked me. You get a front row seat to the heart of the issues and why all the drama/miscommunication between Aubrey and Micah was so powerful between them.

Oh by the way... plan to be left hanging. WHAT?! Normally I am not a fan of that but this really is done well and meaningfully. Ugh. I can’t wait for the continuation of this story.

This is a good story that I give 3.5 stars. I feel that is definitely deserves to go on my recommendations list. Wink.

Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO

WOW!! This was my first Aimee Noalane novel and I can say this definitely will not be my last! I was very fortunate enough to receive an ARC of Broken Promises, so I'd like to thank Aimee again for this awesome opportunity!!

This story was about Micah and Aubrey and OMG I was rooting so hard for them!! Micah is such a beautifully damaged Hero and I just wanted to give him the biggest hug. I loved how much Aubrey loved Micah but there were times when I wanted to shake her, though, I did understand where she was coming from.
"...Always, I promise."

I felt so many emotions while reading this book! It has a lot of angst and my heart literally broke in some scenes. I absolutely loved the writing and usually, I'm not the biggest fan of stories that jump back and forth from the past to the present, but it totally worked here! This story was beautifully written and it captivated me from the very beginning! I literally could not put it down!!

"Tell her that maybe one day when the storm passes and the rain is just a light drizzle, I'll come back to watch her dance in the meadow."

I cannot WAIT to read the next book and see what's in store for Micah and Aubrey!

Aimee is a new to me author, I do have her debut novel sitting on my kindle, but haven't read it yet.
This book omg the feels, I went in blind didn't read the blurb or know what it was about and oh freaking god, did i devour this read.
What can I say about Aubrey I loved her from the start, her relationship with her brother Vince is incredible, having two other brother's myself, those two melted my heart.
Micah oh my the chemistry between the two of them was an inferno. Micah had moments were i wanted to smack him a few dozen times, then it went to me wanting to hug him tight.
5 stars doesn't cover this, this is in my top 5 of 2019

Holy mother of all things amazing in this world. This book!!!!! This MFing book!!!! You’re not ready. Not ready at all. I wasn’t prepared. There is so much amazingness going on that you won’t know what to do with yourself. But so heartbreaking. The tears. All of them. You’ll fall in love just to have your heart ripped out of your chest. That’s what Aimee did, just pulled it out while it’s still beating.
MUST READ. All the stars. You won’t regret this

This is my very first read by author Aimee Noalane, and I just have to say that I am so thankful that I gave this book of hers a chance, because I loved it!
Aimee has done a perfect job of creating a story that will suck you in from the very first page.
Going in, I really was unsure what the story would be about. The blurb is rather vague, but I think that going into this book not knowing very much is the perfect way to begin.

Our two main character's, Aubrey & Micah meet one another through Aubrey's twin brother Vincent. While Aubrey was away at school, Vincent had found a new best friend, and girlfriend. When Aubrey is back for a visit, she goes out with Vincent, because she wants to spend as much time with him as she can. Little does she know that the birthday party they are attending is for the guy who soon would become her everything.
Micah has lived a tortured life. You find out early on that something traumatic happened within his life, and he has a hard time feeling worthy of the friends who love him so dearly. He spots Aubrey that night at his birthday party, and while Vincent tells him that he can't be with his sister, Micah can't stay away.
&That begins Micah &Aubrey's story. There are twists and turns you wouldn't expect in the slightest. There are moments of just desperation where you can feel all of it in your heart and soul. Aimee is managed to write a book that not only has emotions pouring from the page, they take a firm grasp on the reader. You are going to feel everything in this book, and I think that it makes this story THAT much better.

Those final chapters in this book were so heart wrenching. It is rare that I feel so much emotion while reading. But, something about Micah & Aubrey, along with Aimee's excellent writing, I couldn't help the emotions that were gripping me. While writing this review, I am remembering everything about that cliffhanger ending, and it is reminding me just how badly I cannot wait for book 2. I seriously can't. I will be waiting as patiently as I can for the date of book 2.
&I think that as soon as I get a minute, I will explore the other titles that Aimee has out, because it seems like this author is going to be one of my new favorites!

I just got hit with ALL of the emotions. I don’t think I have EVER been this broken before in my life.
Fireflies. Of all the things in the world to break my heart, it was FIREFLIES!
I am absolutely wrecked y’all.
Ok. Now that that’s cleared up.
Noalane is a NEW author to ME. So I haven’t been devastated by her before in the past, but I can tell you right now, I’ll be checking out her backlist immediately, because I need something to soothe and damage me while I wait for book 2.
I loved Aubrey’s character the minute we meet her. She’s just genuinely a pure soul, and it shines through the pages. Her relationship with her brother is so incredible, and while I’m not a twin, it certainly feels like she and Vince are.
The chemistry between Micah and Aubrey? An inferno. You can almost feel it radiating off the pages.
And Micah? I wanted to hug him so hard, until I wanted to beat him up, and then I wanted to hug him again. You can definitely see the effects of his life in his character, and I certainly can’t pass that up.
All in all, this needs all the stars, and all the reads, and every last one of you need this in your library.

This book...what can I say that will do it justice? Watching Micah and Aubrey fall in love was absolutely breathtaking. I found myself smiling every time they interacted. Micah is broken and Aubrey is his light. Their love is everything. But then, my world came crashing down and I was not prepared for the level of heartbreak and tears that overwhelmed me. It was gut wrenching and with the last chapter my soul was broken. I can't wait to see what happens next, but this book has shattered me in the most beautiful way. One of my top reads this year!!

Beautifully Brutal.

As soon as I saw the cover for this book it drew me in. I read the first lines of the blurb and I was SOLD! I needed to read this book.

There is very little I love more in a story than a tortured soul.
They pull on my heart strings, no matter what they've done or how they act I will always find some redeeming quality that makes them loveable regardless.

Micah is definitely a tortured soul he hides his secrets well, never showing weakness or letting anyone get to close. I knew straight away he was harbouring a deep rooted painful part of himself. Yet It still broke me as the layers peeled away and his rawness became real.

The book goes from past to present throughout so we get a better understanding of Micah, I liked the flashbacks they added depth to the story.

That ending ruined me, it was intense and shocking. I loved it and hated it. Talk about leaving your jaw on the fuxking floor, this was one of those times.
I'm desperate to know what happens next.

I love Aubrey, & the chemistry between her & Micah, will make you feel like your in a(n) inferno. You can almost feel it. I loved her relationship with her twin brother Vince.

I love Micah, I wanted to hug him & beat him up. You feel his pain, his fear, & the reasons why he wants to keep Aubrey at arms length. His relationship with his best friend is so awesome!

I absolutely, positively can't wait for book two! I need more of Micah & Aubrey.

Aimee Noalane, is a new author to me, but I can tell you right now, I’ll be reading more of her work.

Broken Promises was everything you could want and more from the start of a new series. It draws you in with amazing characters and a fantastic plot and then before you know it hits you right in the feels and you need tissues as you nurse the biggest book hangover of 2019.

Aimee Noalane is the master of complicated relationships, angst and broken bad boys you can't help but love. She has delivered again in Broken Promises with Micah, the broken boy trying to escape his past, and Aubrey, his firefly who brings light to his darkness.

Advance warning this book ends on one of the best cliffhangers I have read. A week later I am still shattered and can't wait for book 2 to find out what happens next.

Broken Promises is a fantastic read, definitely one of my faves of 2019. 5-stars

So I won an ARC copy of this from a giveaway on Facebook from the author herself. Let me just say this.... how can you end the story like this?😭 This story takes you on a bit of a rollercoaster. Your heart will slowly start to break and then get put back together and break a little more again. It's a constant past and present storyline. You read mostly from Micah's POV, but you get a few from Aubrey too. I'm pissed at Micah for what he's doing. I do hope the next few books in this series will continue the past and present storyline and we do get a better glimpse of them falling in love. I have my theories on other characters in the story. Secrets are bound to come out. I honestly believe the next books will be even more heartbreaking and I can't wait to read them.

Noalane never disappoints. Broken Promises is so damn heavy with the angst, the drama and the emotion. I honestly thinks it is perfection. It's one if my favorite reads of 2019!

I was so taken with Aubrey and Micah, right from the start. They are both so complicated, although Micah is a bit more than Aubrey. But, they work. They are so good together.

All in all, though, Noalane made a work of art with Broken Promises. The story is amazing. It's a world I can see myself revisiting time and time again. And, I will never look at fireflies the same again, thanks to her. The way she describes those beautiful creatures is so deep and stunning.

Wow! I've never read anything by Aimee Noalane before but now after this book, I am definitely hooked!!
This book tells the story of Micah Lambert who didn't have the best home life and because of that he's emotionally messed up and closes himself off to a lot of people except for a select few that is until he meets his friend Vincent's twin sister Aubrey.

Now I don't want to ruin the whole book but my heart absolutely broke for both Micah and Aubrey. They both have a lot to deal with as individuals. As much as I HATE cliffhangers, I love this story and is one I want to keep reading and know how it ends. Bravo Ms. Noalane!!

Well you broke me!! Micah... I do not know where to start. He's had it hard and he punishes himself. He pulls at your heartstrings with his tough exterior when really he is broke inside. He wears the mask like a pro. Aubrey is his light in the dark. His each or. Until it all goes wrong...and you sob like me.
So utterly heartwrenching but beautiful at the same time. The writing was flawless, you feel absolutely everything in the words. It's a roller coaster and one I would happily ride again.
Book two needs to hurry up because that ending 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Once again Aimee took me on an emotional rollercoaster. Micah, Aubrey, Vincent. Wow. I love these characters so much. I laughed, sighed, groaned, cried, yelled and cursed these characters. Without spoiling the story let me just say Aimee knows how to develop and torment her tortured characters in an amazing way. I cannot wait to see what happens next!

A 4 pushing on a 4.5.

To be honest I found the first half of this book very slow. I was at about 40% and not a lot had happened and the flash back sections were kinda annoying me. Then boom. In kicks the drama, the danger the heartbreak. I spent most of the last 25% crying. I really can't wait for the next book to find out what happens.

Stick with this book if your like me and feel not much is happening trust me its coming.

Heart broken

After reading Aimee Noalanes 'no regrets' trilogy I knew that this book and Aimees writing was going to be heart breaking, Micah is a damaged man and boy do we just get a glimpse of it at the end of the book. I loved the back story, the plot, the characters and the hints of what is to come in the next book. I wasn't ready for this book, but good I am so glad I read it.

I received this exchange for an honest review. I will admit to having a hard time connecting with the characters and the story. The jumps from the past and present got on my nerves a bit. I wasn't glued to this book. Sometimes there are books you hope you will love and sometimes there are books that you are okay with it. For me Broken Promises follows into the latter. I just couldn't connect with the story or characters.
