The premise of Undomesticated, the third thriller in Gary Smith's series on the writer/journalist/sleuth Warren Steelgrave is fascinating. Some people are said to be "undomesticated" by nature, and their particular type makes them born predators who feel the need to kill any victim as "therapy for the soul." With this surprising notion, Smith builds up a feisty story with well-rounded characters and lots of twists and turns. He is a master in keeping the suspense taut, but also the psychological make-up of his characters is striking. Via his thrilling story, Gary Smith has some fundamental things to say about the dark side in all of us.
