Red Chronicles #5

Righteous Hood

Rate this book
He cannot win.
I won’t let him.
When Igor Kharmarov sacrificed himself to save me, he unwittingly left his eldest son as the paterfamilias of the most lethal of vampiric bloodlines. Now Dracula commands more than a few surviving sycophants. He has an entire army at his command, and they’re all coming for me. But when they find me, I won’t be alone. Together, hoods, wolves, and slayers will don our cloaks, take our fur, and call upon the power of the sun itself to defeat him.

Vlad Tepes wanted to enslave the slayers and unmake the wolves. He wanted to take me away from Tobias and use our daughter as a tool. He'll choke on each of his ambitions as I stuff them down his throat. Three bloodlines flow through my veins, and each has a cause for revenge. I will make this world safe for all the creatures of the night.

Even if I have to deceive those I love to do so…

But what did they expect from the namesake of the Betrayer?

The final installment in the Red Hood Chronicles. See how it all ends now!

Wow, loved this series. Will say that it does take awhile to get back into the story when it has been moths since the last book. If you can read the series with no breaks I can say that you will enjoy it so much more. I will enjoy the new series coming on Slayers. Geri and Tobias has adopted a girl who they are trying to keep safe. Vlad is out to get Geri to make his life forever. Will they be able to get the Slayers, Hoods and Wolves to come together to fight the vampires? Can they keep each other safe? Can they rescue Tobias's mother? Will her friends still be her friends after the training and fighting? I received a free copy for my honest review.

I give 4 stars. Great ending, everything ties up nicely. I took off a star because frankly I got stuck around 1/3 of the book and had no desire to keep going. It got better, so much better once I pushed through. Idk the ending was satisfying but this book had a lil different of a vibe. It also kept switching to way more perspectives which I wasn’t a fan of. I’m also a huge romantic and although I fully love and support her and Tobias some part of me still feels like what happened with her and Cody should have had even more of a resolution and her and caleb breaking up should have been more. It was kinda like oh yeah caleb and I would wanna live in different places and oh we can’t have sex for some reason let’s break up with him… and he still keeps making comments in this book about wanting to be with Geri still. And there’s the whole will they won’t they between him and Amy and I’m just like ugh cmon… idk I understand and agree with a lot of how things went down it’s just hard for my soft heart to get around certain things. Was absolutely in love with this series up until this book tbh and now I still enjoyed it but no longer am I considering it a favorite

Well this one certainly had some things that bothered me. Chekov’s Gun…her solar flame/bomb thing. Why give us that? It is inconsequential to the big fight. She should’ve used it!!! What is the point of giving her this power if she doesn’t use it?
There were some other things too that seemed like they should’ve been brought us and more questions unanswered but it’s been days and about 4 books ago that I finished this book so I don’t remember. I just remember that I was a bit annoyed by missed opportunities and remaining questions.
I hope this isnt the last we see of these characters.
I really want to know what happens between Caleb and Amy.
Also…could’ve done without the Brunhilde chapters.

The series was really good, except ...

I hate when someone’s back story changes between books. I found two times when someone back story either changed or was forgotten like events didn’t happen. That really messes a flow up for me. There’s also actions that are described enough and you find yourself lost from one paragraph to the next. Like you are supposed to imagine what the author thought the action was. A little off putting, but the main story and action were good.

The first three books of this series were awesome. The fourth started the decline with lack of sexual tension, forced pairings, and lack of editing. This fifth book is not worth reading. It's not edited, the characters' personalities change, and there are plot rifts. I really wish I'd dropped the series at Book Three and left the cliffhanger indefinitely. It would have been better than continuing.

Good ending

Good ending to Geri and Tobias’s story. A lot of ups and downs in this book. Love the scene with Vlad on the island. Looking forward to reading more about the Slayers and hopefully Caleb and Amy!

I was so pleased to get a copy of this book for review. What a fabulous conclusion to the Red Hood Chronicles! It was fast paced, with a lot of action and I was so pleased to have Geri and Tobias together for this book. To see them finally at ease with each other even at a time as dire as It is for the hoods and wolves. One of the many things I liked about this book was when so many of the characters we have met and loved along the way come together to fight the enemy, Vlad the baddest of all bad vampires. I was glued to the page every time something else was revealed about Geri and her particular abilities. Kendrai truly wrote a remarkable Red Riding Hood retelling with these books. I have enjoyed seeing the growth in Geri’s character throughout the series. She is truly one kick-a$$ hood! The intimate scenes between Tobias and Geri aren’t explicit on the page, but they are still loaded with beautiful tension and passion all the same.

We didn’t get much as much of Amy in this books as I would have liked (which is only because would like to see her on every page because she is hilarious) but when we do see her we get plenty of snark and sass that I love. The future series that will star Amy and the Slayers was set up perfectly. I will be anxiously awaiting those books to see where the world that Ms. Meeks has created goes.

I put off reading this book for a few days once it showed up in my inbox, knowing that it was the last in the series, and I did not want it to end! Having said that, Kendrai Meeks did a fantastic job bringing the stories of Gerwalta, Tobias, and the rest of the characters to a close.

For the first time, hoods, slayers, and wolves will work together against their enemy: the vampires that have been merciless to get what they want. Blood will be shed, bonds will be created and broken, and loyalties will be questioned...but revenge is the game that all want to win.

I'm sad to see the Red Hood Chronicles end, but it was a satisfying conclusion to a story I've been hooked on since the beginning.

If you haven't read the Red Hood Origin series yet, do that too! It sets up this series beautifully.

What an amazing end to one of my favourite series. Geri and Tobias have this last battle to fight.
One last obstacle to a happy future, but with more revelations uncertainty looms as to weather or not they can pull it off.

From start to finish this series has been brilliant. Full of action I am never disappointed at the way the stories play out .
Never predictable and full of good humour, family drama and an ending that will leave you satisfied.
If you haven’t read any of these books start today with Reluctant Hood. You will not be disappointed.

Good conclusion

This is a good conclusion and I enjoyed the series. Looking forward to calebs story. Although Caleb is too much of a player. Anyways I enjoyed the battle and the story quite a bit.

Two things would’ve made it better. I wish there was little more time to flesh out how the relationship between Maggie and her son, and the new direction brunhilda and her daughter were going in.

Also would be interested to see the new world that wolves and hoods are creating

I was given the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this and I was so happy! This is one of my favorite series and Kendrai Meeks did not fail to outdo herself with this final book. It was non stop action and I wasn't sure till the very end how it would turn out. This is one I want for my collection.
