This book expanded on everything I enjoyed about the first one.
We get to see more of the world, we get to see the human side of things with their Hero, and just what it means for demon society. We learn about the characters and their various backgrounds, as well as see a massive change over when it comes to how things are being done in the demon territory.
I have to say, all in all I really enjoyed this book. The writing is really well done, and we get to see the evolution of some of the side characters where they get fleshed out and feel more real. Our protagonist too gets a bit more fleshed out, though I feel not as much as his mentor and the demon king did.
We also get to see how the other demon armies are doing, be it good or bad, and the flaws within their command system and just how much the protagonist can assist them. And though I am not a fan of political intrigue in my books, the way it is handled in this book is detailed enough to keep me interested while at the same point not going so deep as to become boring. Something I was very appreciative of in the long run and hope it remains that way in future books.
In the end, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more in this world. The world building is handled really well and I like how everything is set up. I am curious as to how things are going to swing in the next book with some of the things that were put into motion...
