Flirting with the Zodiac #1

Hook, Line, and Sinker

What's marriage and a baby between friends?

Aliens might be common in New Martia, but half-Piscean Ty Metzler is still a bit of a fish out of water. His best friend Lawrence Trafford doesn’t seem to mind all that much. That changes when Lawrence’s parents make a power move to disinherit him from the family fortune. Ty’s seahorse biology suddenly takes center stage as the two friends scheme to secure Lawrence’s place in the line of succession.
But even between friends, marriage and a baby are a lot to ask. Add in one friend who wants to be something more and a confrontational family, and even the sturdiest of friendships may seem like a sinking ship. Ty and Lawrence must sort out their feelings and their allegiances—or risk losing everything.

Flirting with the Love Goes Interstellar

Rife with different worlds and different species, each book in the Flirting with the Zodiac series reflects a cosmos of ways to fall in love, become a parent, and create a family. In doing so, each tale shows the endless possibilities of romance beyond the stars.

This is an interesting sci-fi paranormal shifter mpreg story. The characters are strong and the author does a great job building their story. She moves it at a steady pace and brings an enjoyable read.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

It was interesting. Left unsure if it was romantic or aromantic. Ty was too much of a grumpy dick to tell lol

This was a very original and interesting sci-fi (due to the different planets and its inhabitants - aliens), paranormal/shifter (the main character, Ty, is an alien seahorse-like being), and mpreg (seahorses, afterall, are the ones that carry the babies) story. I loved the human main character, Lawrence, but I was quite annoyed with Ty. I found he didn't help his case (he faced prejudices being poor, being an alien from a poor planet) when he's using insults instead of using his intelligence to outwit those bigots. And he acted like a jerk when he was pregnant. I was surprised that his friends were still with him.

Overall, however, the story had great flow and grabbed my attention.

This book was horrible

The main characters are Lawrence(human) and Ty(piceans). Lawrence is rich and his great mother added to her will that Lawrence wouldn’t get anything unless he was married and had an heir. This would be easy if Lawrence wasn’t gay. Well to solve this issue Ty, Lawrence’s best friend and roommate offers himself up to be babymomma so they get married then make a baby. This is where the book becomes completely unreadable. Ty turns into a complete brat who takes out his frustrations on being pregnant on Lawrence even though this was Ty’s suggestion. This temper tantrum lasted all the way until I couldn’t read the book anymore which was at 65%. The entire book Lawrence tried to be a good husband and friend and Ty just was a complete AH to him. I think what took the cake for me was when Lawrence surprised Ty with a new house and Ty has a complete meltdown about it. I really thought this would be a cute quick read but I regret taking a second look at this book. Read at your own risk !

This is the kind of book I live to find

I love an interesting book. Hook,Line, and Sinker is everything I could hope for. Great characters, strong love story. Between Ty and Lawrence, between friends and family. Lots of emotional connections. Well written and edited (a couple of minor over sites but it did not degrade the integrity of the story).
Did I mention how much I loved Ty and Lawrence's love story? Consent matters. Being brave enough to tell your best friend that you love them is scary. Nasty family members don't have a right to be mean to the person you love. Your life your choices. It is OK to be happy even if no one else understands.
Looking forward to the next book in this series!

It's refreshing to read a story about pregnancy that's not all sunshine and rainbows. I felt like Ty and Lawrence really struggled through it. It was also kind of ambiguous at the end where they stood with each other. Yes, they said "I love you" but it almost felt like a best friend type of love, which I'm not sure I really enjoyed because I was expecting more romance from the story. But it's also kind of beautiful how love of any kind can make you do things for another person.

Fun story, don't see why I should like Ty or anyone else should either, and don't have a strong sense of Lawrence. But interesting take on mpreg and the story kept me turning pages.

All these characters are awful and it only got worst. Also, the medical providers in this book are horrifying.

I really enjoyed this creative space romance. Ty is an adorable, grumpy little alien with sea horse DNA. He changes colors when hes turned on, plus a few other really funny/quirky traits including that he can get pregnant. Hence why he volunteers to be the child bearer for his best friend (and crush).

Personally, I love friends to lovers stories and pretend couples as well. This book is both of those.

It's a light, fun read in an interesting future world with dynamic characters.
