Leela: The Game of Self-Knowledge

Rate this book
Leela is nothing less than the game of life, providing insight into our own consciousness and a key to divine knowledge. Four things are necessary for one or more to play: the book and game board, a die, and a significant object that belongs to the player, such as a ring, to serve as the player's symbol during the game. Each of the seventy-two squares on the board represents a virtue or vice, an aspect of consciousness or a plane of reality; the players' progress is dictated by the fall of a die corresponding to the forces of karma.

Designed by Hindu sages over two thousand years ago, this is the precursor to the popular game "chutes and ladders."

Simultaneously a game and a serious method of enlightenment, Leela parallels the spiritual journey toward liberation, advancing the player along that path by means of the self-exploration that the game demands.

Repeated playing of Leela will reveal past karmas, current concerns, and the cosmic patterns governing your life.

The companion book for the game, Leela: the game of self-knowledge, is essential in understanding the game squares. A most illuminating text.

Yoga game of personal discovery. As you play along you get to read what it is that made you stuck where you are and what you need to learn. It´s an introspective and think-again book.

It’s great to play with friends. We play every week to discuss how the game and its philosophy influenced us. At some point you gain more self-awareness and start to accept yourself fully

Really nice way to take care of yourself.

But some points are very metaphorical and need more context to understand what it’s about.
