Women in Jazz: The Women, The Legends & Their Fight

Rate this book
This book is about women in jazz. It charts their journeys, celebrates their presence, hears their voices, wonders at their prowess and revels in their being. We hear from female agents, arrangers, composers, musicians, PR people, radio hosts, record label managers, singers, writers and more. These are their stories; their views of jazz and how they see the future. The established performers share their years of experience whilst those newer to jazz reflect on observations and changes they have seen.

Wow, wow and wow again. I expected different women, big names but this book contains women who work in the background, like agents, record bosses ( never knew there were women ones of these) and the discussion is grreat. A thought-provoking work.

Gem of a book. Perhaps not appealing to those who do not wish to see women advocated well by a knowledgeable author or those who do not know music but this is a wonderful book.

I was given a copy at Christmas by my daughter, as I had read other books on music. I enjoyed this very much. A sophisticated and well written book.
