Would not call this a diet book the ultimate undiet book. Have reread over the years, given away, gotten back, reread, given away, reordered online....
E.A.T. is now called Intuitive Eating or Mindfulness Eating but boy, Molly Groger was on to something big back in '85.

Re-read this book (8/18/2011) because I'd put on a few pounds doing the low-carb diet. Now I realize it was a mistake to go on any diet. Diets don't work. The method Groger describes does work. Eat only when you are physically hungry, stop eating when you are no longer hungry (comfortably satisfied, not full or stuffed), and eat what your body is hungry for. It really is that simple.

This book is the Holy Grail of weight loss books - an out of print gem. Groger's method helped me to shed about 50 pounds. I have since put some pounds back on, but I'm still within the healthy range for my height (according to the BMI). My only real criticism would be that she doesn't really acknowledge how hard her method will be for parents of young children who don't get enough sleep.

Very interesting concept of how we have stopped listening to the only expert on what, when and how much we should eat - our own body. Time will tell how well I can get in touch with myself :) It's all about mindfulness.

This is a really good book. It is a rare find because it isn't in print anymore! One of the leading books in keeping food journals and awareness of stress-related eating.

Always a challenge for me and some good suggestions to help with the awareness issue!
