This book is so much like that Will Smith movie, Hitch. I am disappointed with a lack of originality. And the POV is mostly told from April. So it seems April is the one who obsess with Seth. While I have no idea why Seth likes/ falls for April.

The progression of the story is also dragging. With no significant events/ development that helps the chemistry. Also because of April's POV, I feel the chemistry between April and Seth are forced. Maybe James have better luck.

Really, I can not find anything that I like about this book.

The Romeo Effect is another charming, light-hearted and sexy rom-com in the Cupid's series by Lila Monroe. I've read a few of her romantic comedies now, and I always enjoy them immensely. She perfectly blends the humor in her stories with a fun plot filled with plenty of heart and heat. Her rom-coms never fail to entertain me, sweep me off my feet and make me smile from ear to ear.

Seth is a modern-day Cyrano who orchestrates meet-cutes for romantically challenged men and women. When a young doctor hires him to help win April's heart, things quickly and hilariously go awry. For April, the lovely florist and owner of Blooms, the chemistry just isn't there. As it turns out, she met Seth first and in spite of the original plan, the sparks between them become impossible to ignore.

Filled with witty banter and boatloads of steam, this story was fun, fiery and full of feels. I can always count on Monroe to deliver an unputdownable, funny, feel-good romance, and it's what to drives me to pick up her books time and time again. Five stars for Seth, April and The Romeo Effect.

"They don’t call me the King of Meet-Cutes for nothing"

It's a romance, not much of comedy after
the first half of the book but still, cute. 3.5

Things I liked:

⭐ The leads' profession as a florist was quite nicely shown.

⭐ The first half of the novel is on point with the whole romcom theme.

Things I didn't like:

⚫ April and Seth, the lead couple, needed to spend some more time together before getting serious, according to me. It was all very fast.

⚫ The last thirty percent of the novel seems like a good stretch. The problem didn't feel real and just something to fill the pages with.

I’m going to streak-free your ass!”

Heck. I wanted to like this so much more than I did, I'm sad. The cover is so cute and the whole idea and description was so appealing, I just had to read it asap. The book was fine, decent and quite cute, but it just was also kinda 'meh' and there wasn't too much that was memorable about it. The characters were good but I didn't feel a huge connection between them. In general this was fine but it wasn't my favourite, ya know? I think others will really love this, though. It just fell a bit flat for me, personally.

‘I always thought that when I met the right guy, everything would just fall into place. Simple. Easy.’

April is a talented owner/operator florist and would love to make it onto a coveted wedding supplier list. It would be the turning point for her to gain some much needed traction in the competitive market of floristry.

Whilst pondering what she can do over a coffee she literally bumps into a man, ending with her having coffee all herself and him lending her his shirt. He also offers her his phone number. Not the way she expected to meet someone but I guess she has nothing to lose going on a date right?

Turns out that this ‘unexpected’ meeting was in fact orchestrated by Seth, a meet-cute arranger. Basically if you are crushing on someone but need help meeting them, he does the research and arranges for you to coincidentally be in the same place at the same time. After that it’s up to fate to see if anything eventuates between them.

Seth was approached by someone to arrange a meet cute between him and April. However, for April the chemistry just isn’t there and after noticing Seth before she ever saw her meet-cute stranger, she seems to be set on getting to know Seth better. He seems to keep popping up where she is and once she figures out the truth about what he does she begins to question her belief in fate.

However, nothing can stop the chemistry between them and when he saves her from a weekend doomed to be a disaster things quickly move into something more. When Seth offers to help her with her quest to make it on the coveted list, she can’t help wondering if trying to manipulate fate will lead to karma knocking on her door one day.

When it’s time to pay up, it feels like the only currency accepted will be issued by her heart. How could something that felt so right go so horribly wrong. And how does the thing that went so incredibly well feel so bittersweet. This Romeo needs to do what he does best and this may be the toughest job so far.

3 flowery stars!

I’m just going to keep this one short. To me, this felt a lot like the movie Hitch (one of my favourite rom-coms); the authors even go as far as to mention the movie in the book when someone questions what our hero does for a living. If I had never seen that movie I probably would have rated this book higher.

The Romeo Effect is book 3 in the Cupids Series but can be read as a complete standalone. But I highly suggest reading the others in this hilarious and witty series…definite must-reads!

Every time I pick up a book by this author, I just know I’m going to be thoroughly entertained. The writing, plot, dialogue, and chemistry between the characters blend perfectly to create this swoon-worthy and sexy enemies-to-lovers romance.

Seth and April have a very unique relationship and sparks fly right from the start. Their opposite views on love and romance, or “meet-cutes”, induces fun and laughable banter between them that radiates sexual tension. Between a somewhat stalker-y client of Seth’s hell bent on winning April’s affections, a strategy plan to get her flower shop on the exclusive Bride List, and a big red ‘no hook ups with clients allowed’ rule, Seth and April’s attraction soon leads to crossing the proverbial line and there’s no going back. But miscommunication and omission forces Seth to either change the trajectory of his career, or let April go for good.

The Romeo Effect is a sweet and flirty quick read, highlighted with superbly timed comedic and emotional elements. You won’t be able to turn the pages fast enough to find out what happens next. A great read just in time for Valentine’s!

When a gorgeous guy comes into her flower shop and flirts with her, April is more than ready to end her dry spell with him. Unfortunately, Seth doesn't seem to really be into her because he leaves without asking for a date. But when April keeps seeing him pop up nearby, she's suspicious. Turns out he's a meet-cute arranger, a love manipulator, and his client IS into her. Too bad April is only into Seth...

The Romeo Effect is so charming and cute and the banter between Seth and April is witty and fun. But what really made this story for me is April. She's sassy and sweet and is more than willing to call Seth out on his bs, of which there is more than his fair share. I've been loving this Cupids series, and with this entry, I'd say Lila Monroe has just about cornered the market on charming, witty rom-coms!

4 stars!

This was straight up adorable. Lila Monroe has written another fun and flirty story with The Romeo Effect. This is Book #3 in her Cupid’s Series. The laugh out loud moments were endless, and this mixed with emotion and heart of Seth and April’s connection made this so enjoyable. Seth is the king of meet-cutes. He literally works for a company that sets up meet cutes moments for their clients and the object of their affection. April owns a floral boutique. The two together have completely different views on love and romance. One of Seth’s clients was obsessed with April. He was borderline stakerish and once Seth realizes his feeling for April he has his work cut out for him. He spends some time trying to fight their connection and his attraction due to employee/client reasons but eventually April turns down his client’s advances and the two give into their attraction. Their chemistry was explosive. I loved the side character development. April’s new roommate Kate completely intrigued me and I am really looking forward to reading her story in The Break Up Artist. Lila Monroe is quickly becoming a new favourite author of romantic comedy and has written a true gem in The Romeo Effect.

The Romeo Effect was a nice, funny and enjoyable read.

Seth and April met for the first time in her flower shop and in the following days she kept seeing him around her neighborhood. She is an hopeless romantic and she thought it was fate they kept encounter each other like that but maybe there is a certain someone who is pulling the strings here.
I liked the main characters and I was really curious to know if and how they would have get their happily ever after.

The worst thing about Lila monroe's stories is that they end too soon...you're are there reading the first chapters and in a jiff you have to say goodbye to those characters.
If you have never read anything by this author I throughely recommend to start with this story.

4.5 Star Review of The Romeo Effect (Cupids #3) by Lila Monroe

Seth Harding is the man behind the scenes, the puppet master if you will.

What happens though when the man he is helping turns out to be Mr. Wrong and Seth himself may well be Mr. Right?

There is so much initially not to like about Seth, he is cynical and at times not very likeable whilst also being attractive and magnetic.

Can the sparks and chemistry between Seth and April lead to something meaningful?

I loved April and Seth grew on me, they totally belong together. There was something about these two that got to me and it made for a great read.

There were quite a few laugh out loud moments and the banter between them was witty.

Lila Monroe had me from chapter one in this fun, quirky and entertaining read about.
Lila Monroe is an author who knocks romantic comedy books out of the park. Her books are, sweet, spicy, romantic and so funny that you cannot help but fall in love with her characters and her stories. I never fail to smile when I read a Lila Monroe book.

This is another charming, engaging, hilarious romcom from a writer I’ve come to trust with my romantic heart to provide a swoony hero, a strong, feisty heroine, and a storyline that sweeps me off my feet. I loved the previous books in this series, but I think Seth and April are my favorite. The King of Meet-Cute meets the Queen of Flowers, and their story is spectacular.

Seth Harding is a speechless Cyrano, orchestrating first meetings for Romeos and Rome-ettes, giving fate and destiny a nudge to speed up the journey to HEA. A young doctor hires Seth to set up an ‘accidental' meeting with April, the lovely owner of Blooms, but plans go hilariously and delightfully awry, destroying Seth's 100% success rate. What Seth and his client failed to consider is the possibility that the compelling florist has zero interest in the handsome doctor, or that Seth is the one who catches April's eye.

Between April's admirable relationships with her BFFs, Seth’s poignant crisis of conscience, a wonderful goth employee, a pull-no-punches cousin, and a stalkingly close call, this one has something to keep every reader entertained and devouring the pages. With heaps of humor, lots of steam and tons of heart, you’ll want to be sure you don’t miss this laugh-out-loud funny, heartfelt, phenomenal read!

April is intrigued and attracted to the sexy stranger who came into her floral shop, but she is beginning to wonder who he is and that there is more to the situation than coincidence.

Seth has created quite the business where he helps arrange a casual meeting between his clients and the people they are attracted to. He helps ensure they have the best possible chance for success by finding out information about the person they are interested in and the rest is up to them.

Things are about to get complicated when April is attracted to Seth and not the man who is interested in her and Seth is attracted to her even though it is a conflict of interest. Let the fun begin!

This is a sweet and sexy story about a matchmaker meeting his match. The chemistry between April and Seth is hot, their interactions humorous and there is no doubting that they are a perfect match.

I love Lila Monroe's writing. The Romeo Effect is perfect to set the mood for this Valentine season. Seth is all for love. But for himself, I was not sure he really deep down knew what it was about excepts for the hearts and flowers. Until April....

I loved that April was all for trying with her date with a certain doctor. But I was happy and excited to see the sparks fly between her and Seth. There was a little of push and shove in the sense of understanding what is happening between these two. I loved their journey and how it all began!

April works really hard at building her business up to where she wants it to be. She is on this weird dating streak. She encounters Seth, she is enamoured by him, but there meet up is definitely not by accident. "Meet Cutes" are his specialty and he was hired by a client to help him with his meet cute with April. But, April is messing up all his meet cutes, she's not exactly allowing the meet cutes, cute......

He's never really failed at a "mission" but he is currently and slowly falling for his clients love interest. I really enjoyed their chemistry, their banter, when he got caught, he couldn't just lie to her, the way he changed his perspective on how she saw things about his job...Quite the cute, romantic, fun read.

April and Seth

Really cute and sweet, fluffy.

Nice read

I love that Seth isn't a boss, a Duke, a CEO or a Mafia kingpin. He has to answer to his boss for breaking company rules just like the rest of us. It makes him more relatable.

This a classic story of falling in love unexpectedly.

Lila Monroe is one of my faves. Her books are always mood-boosters, and this one is no different.

I'm sure you've already read the blurb so I won't repeat that here...

It's a light and easy read. Sexy, funny and swoony all rolled into one. It's something you'd want to read and escape to after a long day.

Another great rom-com from this talented author.

I'm always amazed at how Lila Monroe manages to produce something new and fresh each time. April and Seth are both eminently likeable characters, a little 'caricatured' but that's part of what I love about the books. So many rom-coms rely on improbable events and unrealistic plot devices for humour. That can't be said of The Romeo Effect. It won't have you busting a rib laughing, instead it has a warm, gentle humour that is mixed with great characters and a charmingly wonderful story. Which makes it a superior read in my book.

April and Seth really do have great chemistry and their story held my attention from start to finish. I enjoyed that we got both POV's, allowing me to really connect with them. There are some incredibly thought provoking and moral questioning moments to add balance to the humour. I loved where the author took this pair and how she avoided the obvious "spanner-in-the-works" situation, which would have been cliched, instead using a different method to ruffle the course of true love.

I never once felt bored whilst reading this. Even when I had to put it down the story and characters were still in my mind (and heart) and I got back to the book as soon as I could. It's a great rom-com that I happily recommend and best of all, even though it features previous main characters, can easily be read as a stand alone story.

Was it happenstance that you met the man of your dreams in some unlikely situation, or was it a set up by a professional Romeo? If Seth Harding is on the job, you’ll probably never know! In Lila Monroe’s latest installment of her Cupids series, a “professional Romeo” meets his true love.

Ms. Monroe has created another lighthearted, fun read in The Romeo Effect. Her characters are off-the-chart. Seth as a romance cynic in a job that has him creating opportunities to meet the person you’ve been crushing on is delicious irony. I loved April. She’s sweet and charming. She is the quintessential romantic, which makes her job as a florist perfect for her.

When James, a pediatric resident, hires Seth to set up a “meet-cute” with April, the laughs begin. I loved the detailed preparation and planning that Seth puts into his meet-cutes. He really takes his job seriously, and makes the situation feel okay. However, when certain clients and co-workers raise the creep factor to alarm-setting, the entire idea of scene-setting for a meet-cute becomes eerie and stalkerish.

As Seth and April work through their individual commitment and professional issues, readers get to meet the incredible people in their respective lives. I really enjoyed all the characters! I also loved that Ms. Monroe pulled one over on me. I thought I had the plot denouement figured out pretty early, but I was wrong and Ms. Monroe’s plot line kept me charmed to the very end. Adorable characters, a unique premise, and a fun plot with some light messages made The Romeo Effect a delightful read.

There is always an air of giddy anticipation when I pick up a story by Lila Monroe, because I know that she is going to deliver everything that I hope and with this the latest in her Cupids Series I was eager to get stuck in.
April and Seth were great characters, I know from the previous books in the series April was a clever cookie, forging a career of her own and doing a darned good job of it. She has high hopes for her business, the only shame was that for a passionate woman that made other women’s dreams on the big day come true, why was she so unlucky when it came to finding that happiness for herself.
With friends that are happy in their relationships, she wasn’t shy about dating, but each date seemed to end in little more than abject disappointment …until the handsome Seth sauntered into her florist store but has she finally struck it lucky or will she be on the losing side of love again. I had my fingers crossed for her.
Seth was a great guy but he had his own demons to deal with, secrets that he was battling with and that I have to say I’m not sure I actually to grips with, there were a couple of question marks that hovered over his situation. I mean what the heck was with him and boss?
As expected, this was a great read, it made me question the characters and encourage me to invest in them and their story …result!
