She's back and hotter than ever. Good thing this firefighting cowboy can handle the sparks.
When country singer Fern Bryant returns to her cabin in Wildcat Hall Park, the last thing she expects to find is Craig Thorne in her home...asleep in her bed. Fern had big dreams, and chasing those dreams required sacrifices. Unfortunately, Craig was the cowboy singer and firefighter she left behind. Much to her surprise, now they're the co-owners of her beloved Wildcat Hall Park.

Craig hasn't seen Fern since she left Wildcat Bluff County--and him--to sing on a cruise ship. When she storms back into town, the sparks between the two aren't only rekindled but burn hotter than ever. Fern a singer and Craig a singer/ volunteer firefighter. Fern just returned from working on a cruise ship to Wildcat Hall Park. She owns the park with her sister….or so she thought. Her sister sold her share of the park...to none other than the boyfriend she left behind. Now they will have to work together to make the business successful and to give themselves a second chance at love.

My thoughts:
This book is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. I have not read any of the other books in the series. I enjoyed the music, cabin park aspect, and love a fireman. However i’m not a big fan of second chance romance tropes. There was just something not connecting in their relationship for me.

Book 6 in the Smokin’ Hot Cowboys series and the first I have read of the author and the series. Great read about a second chance romance. Fern and Craig had a previous relationship until she went to sing on a cruise. Now that the cruise is over, she is back in town. Will they be able to be friends or will old feelings get in the way?

I received an ARC from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Finding a man in your bed when you are utterly exhausted would ordinarily be incredibly terrifying. However, the second Fern Bryant hears the man's voice - Craig Thorne - her fear turns into a massive mix of emotions. There was a time Fern and Craig had a future together. Their feelings ran bone deep. However, Fern always had dream that was bigger than the life she always led. So, she left Craig behind and became a cruise ship singer.

With wanderlust being out of her system she plans on taking on the responsibility that involves being co-owner to Wildcat Hall Park - with her sister.. But no, Craig informs her that HE is the co-owner and that the cabin he was sleeping is is his...or theirs. So there it is, a second chance between Craig and Fern.

That is certainly not the end of matters. The town is very active, and Fern's duties at the park are extensive. Then there is something dark that surrounds her, and that is certainly a distraction - if not a danger. With regards to Craig, not only is he a cowboy with his own ranch, but he is a volunteer firefighter and is also a talented singer. So, there is a lot going on in this story, but it flows remarkably well and definitely kept me interested.

Although the sixth book in a series, this did well as a standalone. There were a lot of people in the town who no doubt were in some of the previous books, but I had no trouble following and thoroughly enjoying this story.

Many thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Cowboy Firefighter Heat
By: Kim Redford

*REVIEW* ☆☆☆☆
Sixth in a series but fine as a standalone, Cowboy Firefighter Heat is the perfect chicklit read. Fern and Craig have a second chance at love, and they best not waste it. I enjoyed reading the journey of these two hearts joining slowly once again. The story is perfectly paced, well written and just plain delightful. For a bit of sugar and spice and everything nice with a hot guy, I highly recommend Kim Redford..

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the sixth book in the series. I have been out of the loop since I read the first one, but I soon slotted into the Wildcat Bluff world. I will be picking up the ones in between when I find the time, but I did not feel that I missed out on this story. I love that this was a nice, big book, and that there were so many facets to the story – second-chance romance, the singing elements, the running of the hall, and of course, the firefighters...

Ready to pick her life and responsibilities now that she has done with her adventure, Fern hadn't expected to find her bed filled with her ex, Craig, on the first night home! I love how these two figure out how to come back from her leaving, from the changes in expectation, and the issues which seem to surround Fern.

There is something so lovely about second-chance romances – partly because you don't need to question how they fell in love over the first two chapters of a story, and because it gives the author the chance to show how people grow and develop as they get older. It would seem that Craig definitely believed that the distance made the heart grow fonder.

It is impossible not to visualise some of the louder than life members of the Wildcat community, thanks to Redford's wonderful descriptions and scenes which give us the wider picture of where Craig and Fern live.

If you want somewhere to escape to, then I would definitely recommend that you get this loaded on your e-reader and find a comfy spot to dive in.

Thanks go to the publisher and Net-Galley for the chance to read and review Cowboy Firefighter Heat by Kim Redford before publication. The gift of a complimentary copy has not influenced my opinion in any way.

Fern Bryant’s character had big plans and left her sister in charge of Wildcat Hall Park. Now she’s returned a little dissolute because her plans didn’t work as she’d wanted. She is ready to take over the hall in time for the big festival. I liked her character and enjoyed her loyalty to her employees and to her town.

Craig Thorne is a fantastic, hot hero. Not only is he a hot firefighter, he’s a rancher and a talented singer. He’s in love with Fern and never moved on when she left for her stint as a performer on a cruise ship. Her return is his chance to get her back. I loved his determination to win her heart.

This is a second chance romance, one of my favorite troupes. They are much more realistic because the relationship, the established sexual pull, makes this a yummy reading experience. The chemistry between Fern and Craig makes for a sensual reading experience.

Cowboy Firefighter has plenty of substance that kept me flipping the pages of my Kindle as fast as I could read. At no time did I feel that the story dragged, which is always great. I also loved the array of endearing characters of Wildcat Hall. Just love the bull and the little girl!

If you enjoy a romance with plenty of heat, along with great humor that will have you chuckling with a smile on your face, then you will love Cowboy Firefighter Heat. I look forward to reading your next book. Happy reading!

Cowboy Firefighter Heat is a delightful edition Kim Redford’s Smokin` Hot Cowboy series and entertains readers with an actioned-packed, drama filled, romantic suspense, that also incorporates humour and a second chance at that elusive HEA. An entertaining cast of interesting characters, and an easy to follow storyline, ensure that readers are eager to see where the story leads. Ms Redford’s style of writing certainly keeps me coming back for more, and while Cowboy Firefighter Heat is book 6 of the Smokin' Hot Cowboys series, it can definitely be read as a standalone, as it’s a complete book with no cliff-hangers. Enjoy the ride!

Cowboy Firefighter Heat brings us back to the Smokin’ Hot Cowboys series with a second chance to get it right romance, some danger and suspense, and one smokin’ hot love that never lost those burning embers in the time in-between. If you haven’t been to Wildcat Bluff yet, this one could stand on its own, I’d definitely recommend the earlier stories for each tells a tale that is well worth your time, but if this is your introduction to the series then you should be fine.

Once upon a time Craig and Fern were everything to each other with a future that was burning brightly ahead of them. Except for one thing, Fern had a dream of taking her sweet voice and her love of music to the next level. She’d made the choice to sign on as a cruise singer and left Craig and her home behind as she followed that dream. There was never a doubt about Fern’s love for Craig, yet the fire burning in her heart for music had to be explored or she’d have regrets forever. So, she made that choice, heartbreaking as it was for them both. Now, years later, a bit disappointed in how that dream ended, Fern is back home only to discover her former love asleep in her bed and the two of them as co-owners of her beloved Hall. Yeah, life just got complicated.

There are several reasons that a second chance romance will always draw me in. Craig and Fern are right for each other, they’ve gone far beyond that first discovery of loving and moved on to the hurt each other stage. There was never a doubt that these two were meant to live a long and happy life together, and it’s always amazing how a bit of time, distance, maturity and lessons learned from life can clarify a person’s perception of the life they once had together. I enjoyed watching Craig and Fern work their way back to each other in Cowboy Fighter Heat. There’s danger, misty-eyed moments, and definitely sizzling hot ones as well. Yet at the core are two people in love accepting who they are now and taking the risk of a second chance.

Full of characters that I know well, and some new ones as well I loved this one and would not hesitate in recommending this story or the entire series to any reader who loves a solid, good love story.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from Sourcebooks Casablanca via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

The trip home was long and very tiring. Fern Bryant is so exhausted that she can't wait to collapse in her own bed in her cabin at Wildcat Ridge Park. Looks like Ivy made a few changes in the cabin. Maybe her sister did it to please the love of her life Slade Steele. No big deal! What is a big deal is that Fern finds a man sleeping in her bed. Not just any man. Craig Thorne, her ex-lover who delivered the ultimatum - her country western performance on a cruise ship or him. Fern's dream is to make a success of Wildcat Hall but she still wanted her career so she chose the cruise ship gig. So what's Craig doing in her bed? Seems Ivy sold her share of Wildcat Hall, the majority share of 51%, to Craig Thorne. How is she going to be able to work with Craig? She knows she needs to fight her feelings for him. But can she?

Craig Thorne wasn't expecting Fern to return now. He realizes he has a second chance with her and he is determined not to blow it. He still loves her and realizes he blew it when he made the ultimatum. He plans to play it smart this time around. The fact that trouble has followed her home has him determined to keep her safe at all costs. When he and Fern are asked to take over as co-chairs of the annual Wild West Days he knows he has just lucked out. Working on Wild West Days as well as running Wildcat Hall together falls right into his plan to take it slow and woo Fern.

Cowboy Firefighter Heat by Kim Redford is the sixth book in her Smokin' Hot Cowboys series. I really enjoyed reading this story of how Fern and Craig get back together. There's mystery and intrigue which adds to the story. Once again we are entertained by the appearance of Storm and her prize bull Fernando who is a celebrity in the area. I love the whole cast of characters from Wildcat Bluff County. They all contribute so much to the story. There are groans by the firefighters because Sydney is doing another calendar. This time she plans to use photos from the dunk tank the firefighters are voluteering at during Wild West Days for the calendar. Can you hear their groans? Expect great dialogue, fun characters and a great read.

I thought this was an OK romance.

We follow the main characters, a heroine who is back from working on a cruise and a hero who she finds out is now going to be a lot closer than she realized. They have a past together that slowly morphs into a semi-angsty situation.

While I enjoyed their banter and snide remarks, for most of the book, I felt like there was a history with them that we were missing out on. The writing was done in a way I was coming into the middle of rather than slowly getting the whole story.

The circumstances definitely follow the close-proximity trope, so if that AND the fact that this book contains a sexy, cowboy firefighter, you may really enjoy this one.

I however, wasn't bored nor blown away by the characters. Their romance felt a little blah to me, and I wish there was more personality and angst fleshed out. Overall, it was a decent read, just not my favorite book at the moment. 3 out of 5 stars.

Fern has returned home after her big break of touring on a cruise line. She left her home, her sister and her dream of Wildcat Hall. Not to mention the one hot cowboy firefighter that stole her heart when she wasn't ready. But she brought back more than her fame, danger lurks in the shadows and Fern is ready to run to keep those she loves safe. Craig will do all he can to keep Fern close but the threat to her wasn't his idea of romance. Danger, smoking hot firefighter and the dunking tank, takes you on a fast paced ride through the small towns of Texas where the temperatures outside only rival those of the romances ready to single the wild grasses. I really enjoy the storyline and characters very well through out world that pulls you in.

Fern and Craig have a past relationship when it got too real she took a gig playing and singing on a cruise ship and left him high and dry. Now that shes back she has to work with him to get the Wildcat Hall up and running.

They have a few moments together when things start to heat up as gain but something keeps interrupting them. They are put in charge of the Wild West Days festivities and things aren't going as planned while her time away is coming back to haunt her.

This book has a few good steamy parts but struggles to keep you pulled in. It does keep it interesting til the very end.
It's a nice second chance love book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It started off with Fern accidentally getting into bed with her ex and really set the scene for how these two relate to each other. Although this is the first book I’ve read by Kim Redford, I fell in love with its idyllic small Western town setting and offbeat secondary characters and will now be looking for other books in the series. There enough adventure to keep things interesting, plenty of romance, some real emotional depth as well as deft touches of humour - I absolutely loved Ferdinand the bull’s part in the final denouement! All in all a great book!

Cowboy Firefighter Heat is a steamy romance that draws you in and leaves you wanting more! A fast-paced second-chance romance packed with drama, humor, sexy bits, action, suspense, and off the charts chemistry. Although this is the sixth book in the series, this did well as a standalone. There are a lot of characters who are no doubt in previous novels but you will have no trouble following. Cowboy Firefighter Heat is well-written with a stellar cast of relatable characters. I enjoyed reading this second chance romance and look forward to reading more in the series.

Cowboy Firefighter Heat by Kim Redford is the 6th book of the Smokin’ Hot Cowboys series. Fern Bryant returns to Wildcat Bluff with big plans for Wildcat Hall Park, but she finds Craig Thorne, a volunteer firefighter-rancher is her new co-partner. The sparks between Craig and Fern reignited, burning hotter than ever. I enjoy the way Kim Redford weaves a smidgen of danger, humor, and romance into their lives. If you have a thing for sexy cowboy firefighter, look no further than Cowboy Firefighter Heat.

imma be honest. as a queer woman, sometimes het romance novels annoy me. i bought this book expecting to mock it the whole time. it was actually quite enjoyable! the plot kinda meandered into random places and the occasional “boy i miss simpler times” talk made me cringe, but i still liked it! the main characters were honest with each other, the male love interest wasnt pushy, and i was very taken in by the author’s description of Simon Winter, The Stalker. LOVED that plot and loved the resolution!

quick read but well worth your time!

Kim Redford gives a beautifully suspense filled book with Cowboy Firefighter Heat. Fern Bryant walked away to take the gig of her dreams but she left her family and love behind.. When she returned she found out that Craig Thorne was now the majority owner in Wildcat Hall and Cabins. Will the love she walked away from keep her from being able to work with him and will trouble from the cruise ships follow her home?
Hard to put down.

"He was a cowboy firefighter....and he drank coffee."
"She went up on tiptoes and placed a soft kiss, almost a secret whisper, on his too-full, too-sensitive lips."
"...she saw a ball cap display. Cowboys tended to wear colorful caps when they weren't wearing hats."
"Slade reached down and put an arm around his niece's shoulders, tugging her small frame against his muscular bulk."

Thanks, I hate it.

It took me forever to finish this because I was so bored. Idk, maybe just not the right time to read it, or...

Nothing really stands out as anything of importance. Maybe that's why I had a hard time continuing the novel. I picked it up every once in a while, read a couple chapters, then I'd set it aside again. Nothing ever happened really.

My first by this author I believe.
I like reading books set in Texas that accurately depict the area.
I also can relate to having only a volunteer fire department and the desperate need for funds.
There is still a mystery to be solved, which hopefully will be answered in future books.
