Fern Grove #5

Freesia and Lethal Amnesia

Rate this book
A murdered con man. A long list of angry suspects. A small town florist desperate to find the killer and keep her business afloat.

When Tracy agreed to offer her services at the Presidential Dog Show, she thought it would open her business to a new client base. After all, the eyes of the country would be focused on Fern Grove during the event. She's left frustrated and disappointed when the organizer of the event refuses to pay her. Things take a turn for the worse when she discovers that this person has been found murdered.

She understands the animosity his bad dealings generated in the business community but who would have hated him enough to end his life? Can a murder ever be justified? Are the police asking the right questions to the wrong people? Will Tracy help to solve this murder mystery and, hopefully, the fate of her business that lies in the balance?

If you want to enjoy a light-hearted story, with an amateur female sleuth and a gripping murder mystery with a touch of romance, then you'll love Tracy Adams and all the friendly and not-so-friendly characters in Fern Grove.

No cliff-hanger, swearing, or graphic scenes!

Another fun, fast mystery in Fern Grove! You are taken on a roller coaster ride when Tracy decides, with her shop helper to provide the flowers for the Presidential Dog Show that was coming to town. The organizer convinced her it would be a major national exposure as well as getting paid for her creations. With Aunt Rose sick and at home and against Aunt Rose's advice, she goes ahead and agrees to do it when Eli, the promoter, who Aunt Rose does not trust, cajoles Tracy into doing it. With the Dog show being a success and Tracy's creations are shown, she finds Eli to find out when she is going to be paid for her services especially when one of her suppliers extended her a lot of credit. When Eli is found dead and the paper states there are no family members, Tracy decides to help Detective Warren Copeland with the investigation. Maybe Eli had a partner and she could get paid after all, it was worth and investigation. When Eli's sister and her baby show up, we are served with even more complications. She is so sweet and Tracy feels sorry for her which makes her really delve into the investigation. With lots of twists and turns and red-herrings we are taken to a surprise ending. And we are given the sub theme of Tracy and the detective and their blossoming relationship. I received and ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Grab your favorite beverage and treat, sit down and enjoy a pleasant escape. Can you figure out who did it? Took me to almost the end.

What would you do if you had a contract to do provide your livelihood and you had to wait for your payment? What happens if that person dies? Then what?

Well, in this book in the series, Tracy makes a decision that the above happens. Is her decision due to her inexperience? What did Aunt Rose’s vast experience have to say? Do we listen to our elders or learn by our own mistakes?

Great standalone addition to this series. Yes you can read it all by itself! Probably can be read in a day. I start mine too late in the evening and have to finish the next day: something called sleep overtakes me.

This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.

This was another great read by Abby Reede. Tracy was hoping that agreeing to offer her services at the Presidential Dog Show would increase and add a new higher-end clientele to the In Season Florist Shop. After preparing outstanding floral arrangements and getting mentioned on the show for the world to see, she is left holding the bag. Unfortunately, the organizer refuses to pay her and the other business owners for their services. To make matters worse, he ends up dead. With most of the business community upset over what happened and with Aunt Rose getting sick, Tracy decides to investigate the murder and help Warren. I was completely clueless on who committed the murder. There were so many twists and turns between all the characters that I didn’t want to put the book down. I like the direction Tracy and the detective are heading and hope the relationship continues to blossom between the two of them. I was very surprised to learn the identity of the killer as the person was not one of my suspects. I look forward to reading the next book.

I enjoyed returning to the residents of Fern Grove in Fressia and Lethal Amnesia. Tracy Adams and her Aunt Rose are busy running their floral shop, In Season. Tracy is now dating Detective Warren Copeland. Eli Watkins has arrived in Fern Grove to encourage businesses to participate in the Presidential Dog Show. In Season is providing the flower arrangements. Unfortunately, Eli turns up dead before the shop gets paid for their services and Tracy is extremely upset. There are many other people who haven't been paid, who were mad enough to have killed Eli and Tracy wants to find out who it was. This series continues to have a nice small town feel, fun characters, and a romance developing between Tracy and Warren. Bring on the next book!

This book is part of a fascinating series. The characters are well defined and future conflicts are cleverly hinted at. The venue is a flower shop in a small Northwester town. This seems hardly the site of a fascinating mystery, yet I was drawn into the story and made anxious about the outcome. The characters are well drawn, especially Tracy Adams, trading in a big city profession to make a small flower shop her new challenge. Faced with a huge opportunity, which turns into a financial disaster, she pulls together the pieces of the puzzle in an entertaining and compelling way. I am enjoying this series, and look forward to reading the rest of Abby Reede's efforts.

Tracy and Aunt Rose are asked to partner in the Presidential Dog Show. At first Aunt Rose isn’t sure she wants to do it and then they decide they will. The team works hard preparing outstanding floral arrangements and getting mentioned on the show for the world to see. Unfortunately, the organizer refuses to pay her and the other business owners for their services. Then the organizer is found dead, so Tracy starts to investigate what is going on. The word on the street is that the organizer had a partner. Lots of twists and turns and is one hard book to put down. Really looking forward to the next one. A Presidential dog show and murder.

Fern Grove is having a dog show and In Season is supplying the flowers. But will Tracy get paid? The organizer of the show ends up stiffing several of the businesses in town. But is that enough for someone to resort to murder? After Tracy is heard speaking her mind about Eli, she ends up being a guest of the Fern Grove police. Can she find the murderer and save her Aunt's shop or will the creditors come after her? Plenty of twists to keep the story interesting. Love this series!

I received an ARC. This is my honest review.

This was yet another great addition to the Fern Grove cozy mystery series. I loved being able to visit Tracy, Aunt Rose and all their friends again. This book added another mystery to be solved by Detective Warren Copeland with Tracy's help of course. I loved the twists presented and never guessed the guilty one until the end. I highly recommend this book and series to anyone that wants some good clean fun reading.

I really enjoyed Abby Reede's newest murder mystery Freesia and Lethal Amnesia. Tracy, Tiff and Aunt Rose of In Season flower shop are all in top form as Tracy tries to discover who murdered the victim. There are many twists and turns in this interesting story and I couldn't guess who the perpetrator was - a good thing in a mystery book. I recommend this book heartily. I received an ARC but the opinions are my own.

Freesia and Lethal Amnesia is the fifth book in the Fern Grove series and is a wonderful addition to the series.

The characters in this series are likable and relatable. The storyline is entertaining and well crafted, with the town bringing in a famous dog show, the murder of the conniving organizer, humour, danger, and some romance.

I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

Tracy Adams is Working in Her Aunt Rose's Flower Shop

Tracy has been laid off from a big bank and returns to the small town where she grew up to help her aunt's failing flower shop. She agrees to create the floral arrangements for a legendary dog show that will be on TV. The local man who talked her into it is murdered after telling all the local businesses they would not be paid, including In Season, Rose's shop. Can Tracy solve the murder and save the shop?

A gently cosy mystery

Fern Grove is a small American town that has more murders than Midsomer! In this one a local bad business men forgets to pay the businesses that helped make a success of the Presidential Dog Show. He is found dead in mysterious circumstances and there are twists and turns a plenty in the investigation.

After agreeing to help out with a dog show and not getting paid, Tracy is in the warpath- when the conman ends up dead, Tracy has to find a way to find a killer and get paid what she’s owed or risk her aunts flower shop. Lots of new characters and some great characters from previous stories in the series. Ending was definitely a surprise.

This series keeps getting better

I keep thinking these cannot get better but they always seem to. The murder of a swindler who owes money to half the town businesses including In season drag her into another mystery. Excellent, well written cozy mysteries with great characters. Light fun reading. I am already reading the next one

Great read

This was a story of a bit different sort, but with good progress in the romance area, and a great red herring!

Business

When owing a business you can't mix business and friendship. And when murder is added you have a mystery that makes you wonder who is truly a friend.

I have read the first four books in this series. They are short but fun. This one just makes too many jumps in logic and storyline. Ugh. I'm done with this series.
