For Taylyn, life has been a series of disappointments and heartache. Every relationship she's had has ended in tears... and the occasional restraining order. Swearing to never get into another relationship, Taylyn is prepared to live the single life. So why is she drawn to the hometown hero that already hurt her once?
Wishful thinking.
Declan was destined for the NFL until a dirty hit took him out of the game for good. Before leaving for college, Declan shared one amazing kiss with the girl he always wanted but could never have. Now he's back in Silverton rebuilding his life without football, and she's single. This time he's going to get the girl. He just needs to convince her he's not like all the others.
Can Taylyn allow herself to believe in love again? Can Declan prove he's the one made to love her? Will they find a love that is Something Real?

Allegra is an indie author who enjoys writing steamy love stories with a twist. The twist would be her imagination. Originally from Massachusetts, she now resides in Southern California. Some of Allegra’s favorite things include all things purple, glitter, fairies, and unicorns. Her hobbies are reading, procrastinating, listening to music, watching sports, and napping. If she likes you, she’ll bake you cookies or cupcakes. If she doesn’t like you, she'll write you into a story and, well, bad things will happen. Never make an author angry. It won't end well, trust me on this one. You can find Allegra fluttering around Romancelandia, figuring this author thing out, one book at a time. You can follow her adventures in writing on most social media platforms.
The folks from Silverton, Massachusetts are at it again! Allegra Johnson brings the regional flavor of the Boston area with every exchange in this series opener.
Taylyn Carpenter — that poor girl has been through the ringer. She’s tried and failed. Now she’s simply given up on love. All it has ever done her whole life is fail her and disillusion her. Yah, but Declan ...
Johnson has crafted in Declan a cinnamon roll hero for her readers to fall in love with. He’s everything her damaged, abrasive heroine could dream of. A hometown boy who returns home a little banged up and damaged, but with a giant heart full of love and plans for Tay that she never allowed herself to dream of.
Mackenzie, Sebastian and Ella are back along with more characters and more of this small town drama. I learned a few east coast expressions I was unfamiliar with — packy (liquor store) to name one.
This book is definitely worth a read if you love ensemble series set in small towns. I highly recommend it!
Good, short read. The characters had a lot of potential. I think a full length book would have given the author a chance to flesh them out a bit more, especially Declan and Tay's journey to wholeness. I'd like to see them get another book and definitely want to know what's going on with Autumn and James!
