SPOILER FREE

I was totally with this book right up until the end. “Too stupid to live” heroines drive me absolutely batty. I was enjoying watching these characters getting to know one another and seeing Callie learn about this completely new world. I was fascinated by how different this world was from what I had been expecting. But then Callie had to go and do what might have been the stupidest thing imaginable and burst my happy bubble. I suppose I shouldn’t have been surprised. Her reckless behavior had landed her in trouble before this. I guess what bothers me the most about it, is that it felt so obvious. I still really like the guys and a bunch of the supporting cast, so I’m pretty invested in seeing how this will turn out now.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout as part of the box set.

poor choices

I really liked book 1, but this one was rather disappointing - but only due to Callie’s choices. They just don’t make any sense! And her personality seems to shift more than she does into her cat form.

Maybe I’m being over critical, but book 1 painted Callie a bit more mature and reasoned.

The MFC made it 3 stars

I like the storyline - 4 stars.
I mostly like the guy characters - 3.5 stars.
MFC - 3 stars.
Flow - 3 stars.

This story feels like a drawn out novella. Novellas you expect less depth to characters because you don't get to know them but for a short period. This is book two and I'm still waiting for a YES! moment from them. Then, the MFC makes an idiomatic decision that you've just been waiting for her to do.

I'm not sure I'm reading book 3. It's just not my style of book.

After my initial doubts, the first book truly convinced me that this series was something for me. During the week I've been debating quite a few times if I shouldn't just read this book a little sooner than today, but eventually I sticked to the plan to make this my new Thursday series. The Thursdays at work are quite busy and these books aren't too long so I can easily combine it, even when my brain is tired.

And although this book was clearly a little less action packed than the previous one, it was an amazing build up to everything that's still to come. Just like the previous book this book had a little subplot that is resolved within the book and then there is the bigger plot that is clearly brewing and will eventually become something huge. I'm really looking forward to that moment, no matter how much I enjoy the build up too.

What I loved is that in this book the characters get a little more time to think and talk about their relationship, what they feel and what they want. I think they need a few more conversations to really get to know each other really well, but they are on their way. I love how supportive and understanding they are though! They can truly tell each other everything without being judged or being hated for it, no matter how bad it might be. And I'm sure that in the upcoming books we're gonna learn a lot more!

And although the plot isn't that action packed, that doesn't mean that nothing is happening. There are a few really exciting moments and there are quite a few amazing reveals and then there is that cliffhanger! Of course, I already felt it coming a little and I have to admit that I found our heroine a little naive, but nonetheless it's a nice starting point for the next book. I'm already looking forward to next week!

Gets better and better

Wow! This just keeps getting better and better. You may know there is a twist coming but you never know exactly what it is. The different view points give more depth to the plot. And what a plot it is. Can’t wait for book three to come out!

This is a really great shifter romance & the second book in the series but I should have read the first book in the series. I found the plot quite intriguing with interesting situations & well-developed characters.
There is: a female cat shifter (Callie) on the run, the men involved in her life (Hawk, Will & James), a murderous king (Robert), drama, intrigue, humor, adventure, action, magic, witches, shifters, wizards, various kinds of shifters, friendship, humans, threats, danger, evil, magical fires, devious plans, confusion, disbelief, memories, manipulations, sadly this book does end in a cliffhanger.

Good

Picks right up. We get some answers and sexy time and a scoring ending. Excited for the next book. Can’t wait to see what happens. My favorite parts of this book is where she becomes the cat. Makes me laugh and I think it’s cute.

**Cliffhanger-ish Warning!** I really like this book. This is a fantasy, reverse harem romance. The romance part is actually happening in this second book in the Firehouse Feline series. There’s also a ton of funny, exciting, and fast-paced action. I love how many kinds of magical beings are in this book (witches, dragons, salamanders, mages, golems, etc.). Callie’s cat conundrum is revealed and explained. Some of her questions have been answered, but there are still plenty of mysteries to unravel.

This part of Callie’s story has a little less action than the first. It feels like a pause in the fight(s) with some exposition, some steamy hot fun, and people coming together and planning the next move. I like how the main characters, Callie, Will, James, and Hank, are all developing. The guys’ friendship is explained, one person’s secret past is divulged, and they all become closer with Callie.

I also enjoyed seeing more support characters. The guys’ families are introduced, and some of their pasts are explained. I’m excited to see more of Sugar (the female fire fighter) and what she can do!

Some typos, but nothing too distracting.

Callie is determined to reveal her secret to the men and let them know she is the cat they are so eager to pet.
She's hoping to get some form of control of the shifting as it does happen at the worst possible times.
Hoping to find out the truth about her family and survive the witches makes it top of her current mission list.
She is also hoping to be braver if she happens to wake up in someone else's bed because the attraction is intense.

I am a massive fan of reverse harem stories and I find myself fitting into this created world very well. My current fantasies may now involve certain men who fight fires thanks to these books.
The authors have created an intricate story which pulls the reader through the gateway into the world of witches, golems and shifters.
The plot is well paced and there is no end to the drama.

'Feline the Flames' is book two in the "Firehouse Witches" by not 1, not 2, but three amazing authors, Laura Greenwood, L. A. Boruff, and Lacey Carter Anderson, who have combined their talents to make this series. The premise is something absolutely different than anything I've previously read. There isn't as much action in book two as there was in book one but we get to see the characters grow a little more into their relationship and see more of their personalities. We also, after feeling like it was pulling hen's teeth, find out Callie is and why she's so important. I have a feeling this book is the calm before the storm that is coming. It'll be interesting to see where these ladies take me next.

Despite knowing that it was setting up a reverse harem I truly enjoyed book 1. I was so excited by the premise of the series and the plot of the first book that I couldn't wait for the second. Book 2 didn't live up to the expectation I had set and the ending was just plain dumb. The twist was very obvious, the main character is an idiot and the sex conversation straight out the gate was a bit over the top. I understand it comes with the territory but in some ways I think it detracts from the story.

Callie makes the classic female main character mistake, but my god, how did she fall for it? I'm honestly not sure I want to continue the series as I don't really connect with the MC. We shall see ...

Happy Reading.

Callie’s a witch. Who knew ;) the characters don’t seem to have much growth. They do a one step forward, two steps back thing. Some have learned to trust more but the full trust isn’t there yet between them. As it is people have now made stupid decisions which will leave them in trouble in the next book.
The plot in this one I found fairly predictable. Still a decent read though

It was ok. Neither as funny nor as steamy as hoped or advertised. Add to that a FMC who practically screams stupid, idiotic damsel in distress... plus it ends in a cliffhanger. meh
I quite like her guys though and Sugar, of course.

Callie’s secret is out and she is on the run. People are starting to die around her and others are looking to her for the answers.

We left Callie and the guys having just survived a battle at the King’s castle, when upon their exit from the portal they run right into the King’s mother. Callie immediately upon seeing the witch who watched the golem kill Cockburn turns into a cat and runs away while everyone watches in shock.

Now that Callie’s secret is out, the guys are trying to help her find answers. The person who might help her the most suddenly dies in magical fire. They do leave behind articles which might help or confuse everyone more as to who Callie is and what cursed her.

Old friends and family come to help the guys, but not everyone is who they say they are.

Authors Lacey Carter Anderson, L.A. Boruff, and Laura Greenwood bring us the second book, Feline the Flames (Lacra Ltd, B07YJ212RX, 2019), in their series “The Firehouse Feline” and they add the heat this time.

The mystery is still cooking and they throw in some shockers, share some secrets, and start to seal the deal on our polyromance with Callie and the men. The story moves quickly and all of the guy’s backstories are revealed. I will say that some information was given casually as if it was stated in book one, but it was not so I was rapidly taking notes.

Remember in my last review when I said that the authors focused on the mystery and gave us very little romance, well they took care of that right out of the gate in this book and continued throughout (laugh). Callie has a very funny time and we do too.

The battle is set and I can already see some surprises in store for our heroes. I cannot wait!

I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

Callie's secret is no more but her cat is on the loose. Her men are determined to find her before the witches do and once she has been located they have been instructed to take her to the one person who has the answers she needs. However, tragedy strikes first and now Callie is in more danger than ever. However, it turns out that she has more friends and support than she knew. But time is running out. The King will not allow Callie or her supporters to challenge him and Callie doesn't want anyone to suffer or to be hurt because of her.

So many twists and turns. So many new characters and so much new information. There's suspense and danger; there's also plenty of emphasis on Callie's relationships with her firefighters. Each of the men revealed their own secrets adding depth to their characters. I was touched by Callie's loss and even more so over the potential loss of her cat. I'm hopeful that this doesn't completely happen. I love this character and the adventures and mishaps caused by the curse. The ending was full of intrigue and now I can't wait to see how it all plays out. I'm afraid that Callie is in over her head. She is naive about the world of witches and that plays into the king's evil hands. I hope that her cat has the slyness she needs to survive.

While this was a good book, I'm still in the this series is just ok camp. I do like that this story is unique and different from other books that I have read, it's just not as amazing as I expected it to be in my head. In this book I really wasn't to impressed with how the side characters didn't really give Callie answers to questions she had without having to pull it from them in the first place or at least it seemed that way to me. I also didn't like how no one seems to tell Callie really any of the most important things involved in their world and that they treat her like a child because of it when it's them that should be telling her this information to begin with. I did like that we eventually got the information about who Callie is and why she's important and I liked the natural progression of Callie's relationship with the guys is going, it's not so fast it seems unrealistic but not to slow that you want to reach in the book and shove them all together. All in all I like how the overarching plot is playing out and can't wait to read where it goes.

This is a great story. I loved every second of it. I love the interactions between Callie, Will, Hank and James. Callie has the ability to turn into a cat when overwhelmed or in danger. It's part of a curse or a spell gone wrong. The boys go to a house to take care of a fire not expecting it to be a magical induced fire. The person who could have helped Callie perished in the fire. Callie discovers that she is a witch and can claim the throne for the local coven if she wants to. Callie is shocked by this news as well as the firefighters. Will, Hank and James will do anything to protect her. They know that she can bring change to the coven for good. Not everyone is thrilled will her coming to the town though. Will they be able to keep her safe?

What happened?

Everything was going along pretty well with our characters and the plot. That ending is inexplicable to me. In my review of book 1 I said that it was to be determined if Callie was stupid or not. Well people, our answer is yes! Callie is stupid and will fall for anything. Why she chose to trust someone other than her guys, when she barely knew that person, is beyond me. She's completely ignorant when it comes to the world of magic. She has barely asked any questions about magic now that she's found her "in" with the magical world. Yet, she's going to take advice from someone she's met on!y once over men she's spent more time with? I just keep seeing a big L on her forehead and think she deserves whatever comes to her. The guys warned her about the king...she's an idiot.

The Prologue gives the reader some information on Callie’s powerful grandmother – Her Royal Highness, the Dowager Queen – who did not arrive in time to save Callie’s parents. But to protect Callie, she put a spell on her to hide her magic so she would not be found. She hadn’t expected Callie to shift into a cat and run away! But now time is running out. Callie only had until the Summer Solstice to become what she was always meant to be. She was desperately needed and it was time to reveal everything to her.

Callie’s firefighters – Hank, James, and Will – see Callie shift into a ginger cat and realize she is the same cat they often found in the firehouse. She needs their help to get rid of a curse, so they need her to see the Witch Dowager. But the witch is killed in a fire before they can get any answers. The evil Witch King, her uncle, is after her and will not stop his pursuit! Will Callie find answers to the rest of her questions before she is captured by the Witch King for his evil purposes? Perhaps the grimoire her grandmother left behind will have the information she needs . . .

There is so much going on in this book! Trouble comes from all sides. Callie’s guys are still trying to help her, but they are the only ones she can completely trust. Grab your copy and follow the wild adventure as Callie looks for critical answers and a way to break her curse.

This book starts where the first book left off. Callie has managed to get away from the King and his men and return home. Now she has the chance to meet her grandmother and find out what her curse is all about. but a terrible tragedy will keep that from happening. Now she is the owner of a grimoire spelled to her blood and no way to figure out how to use it to free herself. But all is not lost. Allies will be found who will support her. Her three firemen grow closer to her and each other. Callie is smart enough to know that not everyone can be trusted, but how does she figure out who is a real friend and who is just pretending?

This is the second book in Firehouse Witches series. It's a paranormal reverse harem and can't be read as a standalone, you need to read the first book. Each book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, the story isn't complete until you've read all the books. This book has a bit more buildup of Callie's relationship with James, Hank and Will. They realize they all care for Callie so sharing is the only way for everyone to be happy. Callie discovers more of her past which just creates more questions she needs answered. The plot is really getting good. Can't wait to see what book three brings.

This is book two in the series and I recommend you read book one first as you'd be missing out.

We meet callie again just about to finally get the answers shes been searching for...

Things between the sexy firefighters next door are starting to heat up and a few answers are coming to light...but will she ever be able to tell her three men that she's the new fire station cat...

There are lots going on, including having angry witches after her...could she get them to help her?

This is an exciting story that just keeps you hooked all the way and 'I'm just so excited to read book 3.

I liked this book much better than the first one as we learn more about Callie and get some (though not all) questions answered, and I felt the plot really moved ahead more. We learn more about her enemies and allies, and about Callie' background. There is a curse, an evil king, betrayal, drama, danger, and let's not forget...HOT firemen...THREE hot firemen So, yeah, some hot, sexy times, too. This book develops further the story started in Feline the Heat and a cliffhanger ending leads into the next book, so they should definitely be read in order.

Right off the bat the author missed a detail that I wish she had expounded on. Apparently Sugar is a dragon. And we go into this second book apparently already knowing this even though it was NEVER mentioned in the first book. I hate it when authors do this. The firefighters just start talking about her being a dragon even though it was never mentioned and in book 1 it was a hidden secret. Ok let’s get past that. How on earth can the King of Witches not know that they are hiding right next door to the fire station! Could there be a more idiotic place for them to hide?! And the end of this book makes me shake my head. How was Calli stupid enough to take the gem. We will see where this ends.
