With that out of the way, let's begin.
This is the blah, blah, blah section. You know the author’s “glory page” where he gets to tell you grandiose things about himself and the deeper meaning of his work. Whatever.

I write books. Seriously, that's what I get to do every day. It's great.

I have been fortunate to author some that have achieved bestseller status, including The Hunters Series of mystery suspense thrillers. It took me a lot of years to get to that point, but I wouldn't trade any of them for a minute. I love writing books for you and the journey that brought me here.

I am a native of the south, Georgia specifically. I spent much of my life there, but I have lived in many other places as well. We moved a lot when I was young. Eventually, we ended up back in Georgia in my teens where I finished school and went to work.

I wanted to write from an early age. A really long time ago, when I was still a young police officer in Georgia, I was writing short stories in my spare time and sending them off to magazines. One day I received one back in the mail.

Life Happened

Attached to it was a nice handwritten letter from an editor (this was long before the days of email and texts). The story manuscript was folded and smudged, and there were coffee cup rings on the edges of a couple of pages, which told me they had actually read it, maybe discussed it around an editorial table, or just used it to sop up the coffee.

In her letter, the editor said a lot of things that I don't remember, but it was not the usual form letter that I was accustomed to receiving. It was original and personal.

She said they liked my story, had strongly considered it for publication, but that it wasn't quite believable. Disappointed as I was, I was struck by her last words to me..."Don't stop writing. You're good at this. We almost bought this one."

I remember staring at that a long time. Then I folded it up and tucked it in a file and...stopped writing.

I wish I could tell you a different story, but I can't. I stopped writing for many years.

There were lots of reasons. Yes, I was disappointed, but the letter that should have encouraged me not to give up was forgotten.

Life happened. Dreams of writing were pushed aside by other things...important things.

Mostly I needed money for my young family. In the 1970s, police officers in Georgia were not paid a lot even by the standards of the day. I worked part-time jobs whenever I wasn't working at the police department. Many weeks I had no days off at all.

I'm not unhappy that I did my best to take care of my family. It was the right thing to do and working for them was the joy of my life.

Children grew up; then grandchildren came along. More life happened.

Then...The Internet Appeared

Out of the blue, this thing called the internet appeared and guess what. I was at a point in life when I didn't need to work part-time jobs every spare minute of the day. I could write again.

It's different these days. I can publish a book whether I convince an agent or editor to read it or not. I am an independent writer/publisher, an “Indie.”

It’s a partnership between us, writer and reader, and it's a marvelous thing.

Don't be a Follower -- Make Your Dream Real

It took many years to get here. Life is like that, with lots of twists and turns and surprises. I like it that way.

Now, I write every day, so here's my parting advice.
Don’t follow your dreams. Followers get nowhere except up the backside of the person in front.

Work and make your dream a reality.

This series reminds me of the Punisher movie from the early 2000's.

John Sole is on a mission to find the people responsible for the murder of his family. He is on the road with no specific destination when he is awaken from sleeping in his car by gunshots. John gets out and goes to investigate when he finds 1 individual shooting at people accross the river in Mexico. He confronts them and winds up hitting the shooter in the mouth. He leaves the locale and goes to the town of Creosote to get breakfat where he met Isabella and later her son Sandy.

During this time he is approached by a couple of individuals who would like him to work for them. Unknown to him, these individuals were transporting illegals accross the border and also involved in sex trafficing. His job only entailed providing security for delivery of vegetables from Mexico. He took the job and began to use it to perform recon for the Cartel that he was searching for. Unfortunately for him, they discovered that he was looking for them and then attempted to murder him. Because of his association with Isabella and Sandy, it became necessary for all of them to leave and wound up going to Georgia where John left them so that they would be safe from the cartel.

There is a great deal more action to the story than I have disclosed. You will need to read this to find out and I recommend it highly.

I thought the first book in this series was good, but this one hits all the marks! A strong hero matched up with a strong heroine. Great character development, a fast paced plot with lots of suspense culminating in believable action scenes that have reality in spades. While you can read the 'Sole Justice' books as stand-a-lone stories, there is a thread in the name of John Sole that is driving the truck and he hasn't reached the end of his journey yet. If you decide to take this ride with John, hang on, because you're in for the ride of your life. I can't wait for the next in the series. Come on Trust, it's time to get back to work!

Excellent

An excellent story with lots of strands to follow with some very likeable characters including John Sole and some equally detestable characters that are woven into the story.

After the murder of his family John hit the road intent on gaining some form of retribution by tracking down and killing certain drugs cartel members. He lands in a nothing town called Creosote and meets Isabella and Sherm who are salt of the earth type characters each with a past as deep as John’s.

John get close to Isabella and stays around Creosote longer than he intended ending up working there for a local scoundrels Krieg and Zabala, who traffic people across the border from Mexico, quite convenient as the drugs cartel John is intent on hunting down are in Mexico.

Krieg is a real nasty piece of work with a terrible temper whilst Zabala is calm but calculating but both stop at nothing to make money as an aside to their legitimate business of fruit and veg importers and transporters. Corruption is their mantra and they have a number of police on both sides of the border in their back pocket. On one of John’s trips to Mexico he establishes a link to the cartel with disastrous consequences. This results in the cartel tracking down John with a view to eliminating him. Meanwhile Krieg’s sideline of keeping a trafficked woman for himself has equally disastrous consequences as one of his employees shoots a Mexican who is trying to cross the border with his family. As all this is going on a Mexican family don’t like the idea that the gringos are trading on their side of the border and take steps to put a stop to it and take over the trade entirely for themselves.

So we have the shooting of the Mexican being investigated, a group of Mexican traffickers wanting to take over the trade of the gringos, Krieg’s kidnapping of a young girl woman for his own exploitation, the Mexican Drugs Cartel chasing down John whilst he is fooling himself into a nice cozy and conventional relationship and the peeling away of the layers of Isabella’s life.

It all makes for a gripping story with plenty of murder, tension, corrupt cops etc. really well brought together by Glenn who keeps the reader engaged throughout.

Although you could read any of the books in this series as standalone thrillers, for maximum engagement and enjoyment, you really need to read the books in this series in the order in which they were written. This series is really an episodic serial with an overarching plot. Each book builds on the ones that preceded it, and to fully understand the overarching storyline, you really need to have read the books in the order they were written.

This series of books, like all the books that Glenn Trust writer are equally plot and character driven. The tightly written, fast paced plots keep you burning through the pages, while it's the characters that keep you emotionally invested in the series. This is a binge worthy series just as the Hunters series was/is and I’m binge reading again. Like all of Trust’s books, this one ends in such a way that it leaves you saying, “Wow, I didn’t see that coming.” They all end in such a way that you are rushing over to Amazon to buy the next book in the series because you need to know what is going to happen next to the characters you have bonded with.

These books may not be for everyone, but if you’re an adrenaline junkey that thrives on blood and guts, this is a series you need to read. With that said, I’m off to dive into Target Down book 3 in the series.
