3.5 rounded up because Io Sakisaka is the reigning queen of moderately tormented teenage love. Inui is still a bit of a non-entity at this point, but I feel like that's both who he has to be in order for Akari to be interested in him in her current state and that he's the sort of laid-back character such an emotionally intense series needs.

2020 Read #462

I don’t like Rio, and I don’t think there’s anything Sakisaka can do to make me support Yuna’s (shallow and naive and poorly built-up) love for him. Despite my dislike for Rio, it pissed me off that his stepmom basically thinks he’s going to jump Akari whenever they’re alone, to the point that Akari even notes while she’s out in the living room, “Oh, can’t stay out here, Mom will think I’m too defenseless.” WHAT? Why the hell then did your mom marry a man if she feels she can’t trust his damn son not to rape his new stepsister? I know this is Japan, but COME ON.

Besides that — I just don’t feel any chemistry between the pairings-to-be. And that kinda deflates the whole purpose of reading (most) shojo manga. I am hesitant, but I do want to see where this series goes.

Wow e ripeto WOW!

I enjoyed volume 2 very much too!

Without giving any spoilers, I can mention that there's been plenty of growth. Idealist Yuna is amazing for such a shy girl who lacks confidence! And due to that, realist Akari, the other heroine, is inspired to attempt changing too!

Change as in growing, understanding oneself, improving the self.

We are getting to know more about everyone slowly. This volume showed more of who Akari is, as well as, a part of her story. Yuna stepped up as an amazing friend for Rio, regardless of circumstances, and Kazu has demonstrated anew how accepting and kind he is, without second intentions. Akari's heart is about to give one of these days 😹 He's getting along great with Rio.

Actually, Kazu seems to be the only one living a chill life for now! Feelings who?? The mangaka calls kind boys like him dangerous airheads, for girls will fall for them, misunderstanding the intention behind their acts of kindness. But I say, kindness should be a given, not something done with second intentions! Carry on, naturally kind boys, you are not responsible for girls' heartstrings!

The art is still Io Sakisaka's lovely style and matching the 1st volume (for those of you who don't know manga they can run for so long - especially if the magazine is monthly - that we can see the artstyle changing throughout the story. It's very rare for someone to draw exactly the same through their whole life. I'm really into the 90s style and I own series that extended into the early 2000s and slowly changed into the trend back then).

Pues bien señores y señoras, me retracto.

"I feel as though he's drawn me out into a new world."

I'm going to echo what some of the characters have already said about Yuna, she is AMAZING! I was so touched by her courage and bravery in this volume and definitely never imagined her actions after the last volume! You go girl!!

I'm continuing to like Rio more and more with every volume! I think he has had to really suppress a lot of his feelings even though he doesn't seem to naturally be that kind of person? Definitely hoping he falls for Yuna at some point, especially with how much Yuna is genuinely being there for him. <3

Akari had a lot of growth in this volume! In fact, it was sort of odd seeing her and Yuna in opposite roles where she is the one inspired by Yuna's actions instead of vice versa! My heart hurt a little bit for her near the end, especially in that one scene where she was just sitting on the bench. Hoping the best for her too!

Definitely another fantastic volume!!

I was super excited to get my hands on this volume. I had so many questions after reading volume one, and I’m glad to say that they were answered here! We got a bit more backstory on some characters which is good. Along with more scenes that make you want to ship certain couples! I’m curious to see how the next volume will be.

I received an ARC via NetGalley for an honest review.

I'm not going to write long reviews for every single volume lmao. I truthfully really enjoy this manga so much and I'm having fun rereading it. Rereading it has reminded me how much I adore Yuna. Yeah, she starts as a very shy girl who doesn't have many friends and doesn't really talk to boys (only her childhood friend tho) but you see her growth throughout these first few volumes, with Rio and with other boys she starts meeting. Yuna my girl!!!⋆˙⟡♡

This manga is okay so far. I really like Yuna and Rio since they are the most developed. Especially Yuna, since she is the most well developed and is already changing and growing. Rio hasn't really changed a whole lot, but I've really been liking his conversations with Yuna. I'm not a big fan of Akari and Inui though. Inui because he is barely a character as of now. And Akari because she is also pretty underdeveloped. Which is weird since Akari and Yuna are supposed to be co-leads. I'm probably going to read a couple more volumes of this manga, but as of now I'm not that invested.

In this volume we see the friendships between each of the characters further develop and even discover some new secrets.

Much like the first volume, i absolutely sped through the chapters and just couldn't get over how pretty the artwork is!! I was about to comment that I'd love to see an anime for it sometime in the future, but I just discovered that there's actually going to be a feature film coming out on September 18th!!!
Honestly, the best news i've heard all day.

And i can't wait to continue on with the manga series before i watch the film!

Rating: 4/5 stars

This was the most adorable thing I've read lately!!! I love it!!

The art style was amazing and portrayed the feelings well.. I thought it was so cute and I really like their methods of drawing. The art still stayed the same (relatively) when they drew the characters in chibi form, which was impressive. The overall storyline and formatting was well done and pretty clear. Each of the character were pretty well fleshed out, I think.

There are some issues with it though. I don't like the crush between the bro and the sis, but I think that's disappearing. I also can't tell the difference between characters occasionally. But other than those two things, I really like it!!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the arc!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Viz Media, and Io Sakisaka for the opportunity to read Love Me, Love Me Not Volume 2 in exchange for an honest review.

Taking place where volume one left off, this volume revolves around Yuna and her crush on Rio. She finds out the Rio was in love with a girl who ended up becoming his step-sister, so he could never confess to her now. Rio is always surrounded by girls, too. Yuna tries to determine if Rio is trying to move on from his previous love by picking another girl because he's ready, or because he's forcing himself to get over Akari.

Yuna musters up the courage to confess her feelings to Rio. After offering to comfort her if she gets rejected by her love confession, what will Rio do when he finds out the guy she likes is him?!

When Akari's friend's brother, Eiji, comes back from college, she is more than excited. When she dwells over a bracelet he gave her before leaving, she realizes she has feelings for him. When she flakes out on visiting Eiji, worried friend Inui asks her to share why she didn't respond to anyone's phone calls that night, when everyone was worried about where she was. After talking to Inui, Akari has a reevaluation of her feelings.

The author has two protagonists to show two different viewpoints on love, but I am enjoying Yuna's story much more (I think there is more drama there and I am liking the on-edge reading to her story). This is a series I sure wouldn't mind keeping up with!

After the big reveal at the end of Vol 1, things begin to become awkward between Rio, Yuna, and Akari. Rio and Yuna share a secret together, and start to develop a friendship despite it. This volume gives Akari a lot more page time, and I felt like it helped the flow and understanding of the story significantly. We also learn more about Akari, and who is special in her heart.
This volume helped boost my feelings on the series, which is why I almost always give a series 2-3 volumes before deciding if I want to add them to my collection or not. With that said, I can tell that this is going to have some drama involved, but it is going to be the best kind of messy time!

Io Sakisaka is just so good at writing shoujo!! I love that this one kind of introduces more friendship and family drama in with the romance than her other series. I can't wait to read more. It's really cute.

I know that Io did not leave me on a cliffhanger again....

I loved how this second volume took a deeper dive into Rio, Yuna, Akari, and Kazuomi! Volume Two dives into the lives of Rio and Akari where Yuna learns that these two are step-siblings. This discovery was something that didn't shock me. Considering how non-judgmental Yuna is toward Akari, I didn't understand why her living circumstances were a secret. With this awareness, this dynamic among these friends is still complicated concerning Yuna's crush and learning who Rio is in love with. I can't wait to read Volume Three and see if my theory about Rio will happen!!! And I hope I can learn more about Kazuomi too!!!
