Portal City Protectors #2

Mated to the Enforcer

Rate this book
Kalinda Thorton is having a bad day. A big bad wolf offering to eat her, facing death-by-lion, and creating lustful thoughts with her magic were not her idea of maintaining the carefully crafted reputation of Kalinda’s Katering. To make matters worse, her magic has put her on the radar of the Trinity Council—Encantado’s crème de la crème of the Mage Society.

Romano Moretti—big bad wolf—is set to protect the woman he knows belongs to him. The Trinity Council offers her a choice: them or death. Romano is going to save her by any means necessary. It’s a race against the clock to save Kalinda from execution, rout the Viscount Lion Pride, and keep his strong and determined mate.

Kalinda isn’t ready to give up without a fight—not to the Council, the lions, and most especially not to Romano’s scorching touch and fierce protection. Except she doesn’t have a choice. Everyone has a stake in this game, and the outcome may bring about the destruction of Encantado as they know it.

Georgette St. Clair writes hot, sexy romances starring Alpha heroes. The road to love may be rocky and fraught with peril (and humor and scorchtastic sex and healthy heapings of snark), but her shifters will stop at nothing to claim the women they love.

Georgette has worn many hats in life: newspaper reporter, EMT, internet marketer, cocktail waitress, temp, nurse’s aide (not in chronological order).

When she’s not rescuing fur-babies, she spends her days in a fantasy universe where she nudges her smart-mouthed, take-no-gruff heroines onto paths which will set them on a collision course with true love.

This is a fantastic story. I loved Kalinda and Romano. I didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait to read more stories in this series.

Something is going on with Kalinda’s magic. When something happens at a party, she is placed under the protection of Lombardi Pack and Romano. They have a connection but both are afraid. Romano will do anything to protect her. Will they figure out what’s happening before it’s too late?

I loved every moment of this book

Mated to the Enforcer is a pass-the-parcel of a book - it has so many layers, and as each one is peeled back there is a surprise or twist waiting to spin the story on its axis. My attention wasn't just held, I was mesmerised from the very first lines through to the last words of the epilogue. Kalinda and Romano are such damaged, fragile yet super strong and simply wonderful protagonists. I absolutely adored them both, I felt their emotions, and oh boy who was peeling onions as I read parts of this?

I almost wished I'd come to this series when it was (almost) complete. I want. NO. I. NEED. The next book NOW! I love this world, I love the politics, the intrigue, the funny, sexy and sometimes plain annoying characters and I love the exciting, jam-packed with action plots. There isn't a single thing I would change in the book. These are SO much more than just a shifter book. They are a suspense, adventure, paranormal, magical, intrigue, emotion, chemistry and romance packed smorgasbord of goodness.

2.5 stars. Not for me. I actually loved the characters. Silly mostly. No real story. The build up to the national council and trinity battle was a little ridiculous. We never met this powerful council and the trinity was never confronted about conspiring with the lions. Mafia? Joke. The story was unfocused, chaotic. Lots of characters hanging around with no direction. Also, not a fan of too much inner dialogue and being lead by the writer. Needless to say, I will not continue with the series.

Liked it

I liked the story. I love how almost all of the books by this author fall into this gritty magic mixed with modern world. I just love the werewolf mafia and the different magical people in this series.

Another wonderful mafia shifter story, this is the story of Kalinda and Romano. She is a sassy character with heart and depth while he is a wolf, alpha and feisty. Together this story takes off in the steam department. There is humor and passion, a rich detailed world filled with fun characters and enough action to satisfy.

I loved the choices the author’s made for both the characters and in this world. I found myself turning page after page without coming up for air. I devoured this story and think that others will love it just as much! This is a guaranteed HEA and safe read. There was no other woman/man drama, no triggers and no cheating. Just a fun romance story! I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review.

Kalinda and Romano, wow. What a story. Two people who were afraid of love and rejection found each other even though it took Kalinda awhile to realize what they meant to each other. Love the dialog between Kal and Zoey, cracked me up. Also love that Kal was able to give it to the Trinity!

I received a complimentary copy and this is my honest opinion.

Kalinda and Romano's story is beautiful and inspiring.
Romano is a shifter who constantly jokes and has fun. Never seeming to take anything seriously. Then he decides to make Kalinda his mate and he has to deal with her bloodline and status.
I am enjoying this series!

This very well-written book 2 in the Portal City Protectors Series is a wonderful story and a has great characters. The characters are believably well-crafted and they react in a realistic fashion. There is drama, tension, danger, and romance. This story has action, adventure, twists/turns, chemistry and love with a HEA that must be worked for. These characters have wonderful personalities that are brought alive by this great Author

Wow what a fabulous story this was to read. Engaging , riverting, exciting are just a few words to describe this great story. I love this as a series because we stil get the characters from the first story in it. Then theres the little twists and turns which pop up which makes ones eye grow in fascination.
Kalinda Thorton was graded a two on the scale of witches, she had her own bakery because she just loved to cook. But her magic had been playing up , then the unpredictable happened a lion shifter got somehow the wrong dish ,she tried to calm everyone but it all went haywire. Managing to wring her friend before she blacked out, she woke up in the arms of Romero the enforcer. Something more admiss is going on and soon she finds herself mated to this gorgeous man. Soon reinforcement are called in because it seems that the trinty want Kalinda for reasons unknown.

4.5 Stars!
Kalinda is all snark and bite, she is a great character, after having everything she knew taken from her she has created a wall around herself and put everything in building her business and being self-sufficient, after she gets into trouble with lion shifters she needs help, Romano is put in place as her protector, just what she doesn't need a cocky wolf who doesn't take anything serious.
A very enjoyable, funny, steamy and action-packed read with a great set of characters who have great banter and sarcastic comebacks. I loved how Kalinda and Romano developed within the story, very entertaining and sweet.

This series is awesome so far. This book is well written, is funny, witty, has fated mates, a happy ever after ending and hot as sin alpha shifters to boot. In this book kalinda is catering an event for the lion pride when everything goes to pot. The Leo is having an allergic reaction to peanuts and the next disaster comes from her very own magic. She calls zoey for help, zoey has a guard though and his wolf has his eyes and fangs set on making kalinda his mate. They have more pressing matters to deal with however.

This is the second book in the series and it was just as good as the first. I love how there are witches, mages, shifters of all kind, humans. They main characters are so not wanting to be together since they think they have their life paths already in order. But when a wolf wants what a wolf wants there is no stopping him.Cant wait to read the rest of this series and see what the outcome for the rest of characters have. I loved how protective Romano is of Kalinda. She was done wrong by the mages and now she has to suffer alone with no family besides her best friend she made.

I really enjoyed this short story. It has some laughs and also some tense moments. This is about Kalinda Thorton, bakery owner and mage. Her bakery items have a little bit of magic in them, enough to let people relax a bit and feel good. Somehow her powers go all wonky and the party of lion shifters she is catering with her food goes bad. Really bad, and lots of laughs too. She gets help from Romano Moretti and he knows she is his mate but Kalinda doesn't want anything to do with him. Things go from bad to worse. Recommend.

Interesting storyline which kept my attention the only issue was some of the phrasing.

Such as:-

‘Storing their defences’ I think it should have been shoring up their defences.

‘have been run over with the scent of wolves’ think it would have made more sense as ‘over run by the scent of wolves’. Since it was in connection with the fact that Kalinda’s shop was obviously a hangout of the wolves.

‘didn’t look twice to pull me out of the Chaos Realm’ would have made more sense as ‘didn’t think twice to pull me out of the Chaos Realm’ or ‘didn’t hesitate to pull me out of the Chaos Realm.

We are back in Encantado. Kalinda, Zoey's previous boss, is in a magical jam. She has been accused of poisoning the Pride Leader, Leo. Her magic is flexing without her control, and Dominic has put Romano in charge of her protection until the mess is straightened out. Nothing is ever easy and there are forces working behind the scenes in every aspect of this slow burn love story. Book 2 of this series continues in the same way as book 1 – drama and humor! I really enjoyed this book and I am happy with my insomnia at the moment as it has allowed me to read this one directly after finishing book 1 and I intend to go straight in to reading book 3 now also. If you enjoy a good shifter book, then grab this one.

Mated to the Enforcer is the second book in Georgette St. Clair’s Portal City Protectors and a much more engaging than the first. The story is well-written, with some light and witty dialogue incorporated into a fast-paced, action-packed, romantic suspense. Great characters and a steadily paced storyline kept me intrigued till the very last page. I look forward to book three.

I enjoyed reading Mated to the Enforcer, a great addition to the series. The storyline is enjoyable with action, drama, magic, fun banter and love. The chemistry and interaction between the characters of Romano and Kalinda is wonderful and frustrating at times.  But I recommend this book and can not wait to read the next book.

While this was a great addition to the series thanks to the character work and the story line, there were some characteristic of the male lead character which I found to be a turn off and therefore made it difficult to see why anyone would want to be with him.

Loved this book. I laughed at most of the parts of this story. I am so glad all the women in these books have strong back bones. I am glad the men see their women as their other halfs and are willing to protect them and also let them be their strong shelves.

I enjoyed most of the story though I found that the author crafted him with so very unlikable traits. I liked their moments together - before and after - but I couldn’t get beyond his actions in the past. It made him who he was and I thought they were great together.

I requested a copy of this book so I could provide an honest review.

I enjoyed this story, the plot was strong, it was written well. Romano and Kalinda were made for each other, their connection, the bond that they shared was strong, they were good together, their chemistry was sexy. Kalinda and Romano were made for each other.

This is the story of Kalinda and Romano. She is his mate and he wants to claim her. Only she is fiercely independent. Can Romano protect her from those that want to kill her? I enjoyed this one from start to finish. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Awesome

Really tremendous! A very exciting book, very well written and with descriptions that are so easy to imagine. This is the 2nd in this series and it is just as good as the 1st. I can't wait to read the next one.😀

Did not finish

Did not finish. This book is boring. The characters are whiny. I made it a little over halfway through thinking that certainly it would get better... but it didn't.
My advice is not to bother.

Kalinda and Ramano

Kalinda's magic has been doing funky things. The Trinity Council kidnaps her and tries to keep her there so they can control her. She's a 9 level mage. Romano and Dominic go rescue her, Silva is her Fae protector.
