B. Cranford

B. Cranford is a proud Australian living in the USA, a lover of books, breadsticks and bed, and the mother of two children who are far too similar to their father for her liking. A lifelong reader, she dove into the romance genre on the recommendation of her best friend and hasn’t looked back since. Her debut novel, The Brightest Star, a second chance romance with (she hopes) heart and humor was released on July 13, 2017, which just so happened to be her birthday. Because if you release a book on your birthday, you get twice as much cake, and that can only be a good thing.

Mile High is book one in the Mile High series by B. Cranford. This is my very first book of Ms. Cranford’s. I have had several of her books on my tbr list but just haven’t had a chance to get to them. What drew me to this one? The cover! Something about the beautiful girl on the cover just called to me. And I’m so glad that it did!

Bianca Evers is trying to turn over a new leaf, to be adventurous. She is still recovering from the end of her marriage. Her trust and her self confidence has taken a hit. She decided to spend Christmas in Australia and have an adventure. The flight is fifteen hours long and she plans to use the time to decompress, to relax. Then she saw who her seat mate was going to be, the sexiest man she had ever seen. Suddenly the flight looked even better.

air bus

Lucas Hawke is on his way home to Australia. He first saw the beautiful woman in the airport. He couldn’t take his eyes off her. To his astonishment, his assigned seat was right next to her. He had fifteen hours to get to know this woman. And if everything went as he hoped, maybe even more.

For both Bianca and Lucas, they felt that instant attraction, that zing when they touched. A feeling of comfort, like they can tell each other anything. They find themselves sharing things they’ve never shared before. But both have that small part of themselves that doubts their intuition due to recent events. Can this thing they share be real? Or when the plane lands, will that be the end of it?

“This woman, she ignited all my possessive protective urges.”

Love <3

I enjoyed this so much. I loved both Bianca and Lucas. And boy oh boy, what a surprise! It was seriously hot! I loved dirty talking Lucas and he seemed to unlock something new in Bianca as well!

This is kind of a ‘to be continued.’ We have to wait for book two, The Arrival of You, to see what happens with Bianca and Lucas once they land in Australia. I can’t wait to find out! Rest assured, I will most definitely be reading more by this author!

Sexy, funny, with all the feels….

Oh, I want to be Bianca! Not that her life was perfect, far from it. Reeling from betrayal, she was on a quest to find out who she was, who she wanted to be. Trust was shaky but she couldn’t help be attracted to this handsome, irresistible stranger who made her senses zing

I could hear Lucas’ Aussie accent in my head and it was beyond delicious as he tickled Bianca’s eyes, her funny bone and all the rest of her, now on high alert, senses. He was beautiful but it turned out he was so much more…

This felt like an old-fashioned romance with all the modern twists and to say I liked it is an understatement! I could feel the sparks between Bianca and Lucas as their forced, close quarters allowed them to open up in a way that may never have happened. They were a sultry mix of funny and sarcastic then sweet and shy in turn. I’m not sure how so much heat could have been packed into this novella, but I didn’t question, just enjoyed…

I’m so intrigued by this first part of their story and can’t wait to find out what happens when the plane lands! ~Diane, *5 Zingie Stars*

REVIEW: 3 STARS
"I just wanted. In a way I'd never wanted before."

Soooo, this one was uber sticky icky, ooey-gooey sweet.....and that is not my normal jam. Having said that, this was a quick and easy, light read that actually gave me a happily for now ending. Truthfully, I don't feel like I'm missing any of the story if I don't read the next book. I'll be honest, but it's super ridiculously hard for me to read books this light and frilly. However, I will say I giggled and smiled and felt some of the butterflies between them.

Cranford's words were a joy to read - her writing is very easy-going, very jubilant, very boisterous, and I actually love her voice. She made me smile throughout this book, and between the banter and the flirting, the story moved along just enough to keep me turning the pages. I did think it was neat with the fate that these two had meeting each other. I can hear the 'Beth' that I know and love coming out in her story here. I can hear the joking and the excitedness and the lighthearted side of the story. It wasn't a heavy read, and there really wasn't any angst at all - just two people meeting for the first time, and the ensuing, burgeoning relationship. While I was reading, I couldn't help but want to discover more of their story and I've enjoyed what I read of them so far.

And let me just tell you, I loved Lucas. Like, his personality was smile inducing. His banter with Bianca was giggle-worthy. There was so much chemistry between these two, it was pouring off them. They really were a joy to read. He definitely made me keep turning the pages because, given his Aussie accent, it made me 'hear' the story with said accent - thus requiring a smile from my imagination. I did run across some sayings that I had NO clue as to what they were because they were obviously situational to the dialect Lucas spoke, but I was still able to enjoy the novella.

I struggled a little bit with Bianca and I wasn't really able to connect with her, but I am honestly thinking that this is entirely a "me" thing because with her sweetness came a side that was also emotionally drained and broken, and I have a very hard time connecting with a character that continually refers back to her heartache, or the reason for the heartache....and keeps reminding me of said heartache. I also didn't like the constant comparisons of Lucas and Mason (ex). Again, I know this is a me thing and in general why I had a hard time connecting. But her smiles and her personality as a whole definitely made me think she was a sweetheart and Lucas was lucky to have 'found' her. I really did enjoy their chemistry together and I think they complemented each other well.

I don’t normally enjoy internal monologue a whole lot, and this book was heavy on this. However, with this one I felt like the story was still progressing and it didn't get stagnant - which I find that with a lot of stories with a high amount of internal monologue. Was it cheesy? I mean, in a super sweet, super sticky way - there were some parts that made me smile in conjunction with my eye-roll, but it wasn't overwhelmingly annoying in any way, shape or form. It was the kind that you can't help but smile through.

I am not telling you to not grab this. I am not saying this was bad, because it wasn't at all. I am merely saying this wasn't for me. I also know my limits, so I'm not going to push it either. I don't do this kind of sweet, but it was a cute book.

Now THAT is how you start a duet!

Lucas and Bianca have instant, combustible chemistry that boils over while they're in flight to Australia. I'm dying to know what happens after the plane lands!

Mile High was a fantastic introduction to Bianca and Lucas' story. B. Cranford did an incredible job on this novella, and it was very addictive.

This novella was short and sweet with a lot of heat (and heart) packed into it. I loved getting to know more about Bianca, and seeing her repairing her heart piece by piece was beautiful to see. Bianca deserves love. She is such a sweetheart.

And Lucas... Le sigh. Lucas was dreamy with a sexy accent, and I think I'm in love LOVE with him. He was sweet and charming and funny and his heart. His heart won me over instantly and damn can he talk dirty. Couldn't stop fanning myself over his dirty talk. DAMN!

(But I have to say, Bianca is definitely in competition with the dirty. Again, DAMN!)

The insta-love between these characters felt very natural, and their stories and vulnerabilities made them seem more human to me. And those sweet little moments between the characters melted my heart. They were absolutely perfect, and there is this one moment in the novella (not going to spoil but it was cute!) where I just stopped and savoured the moment. It was just perfect.

This little book packs some serious heat. You have been warned.

Mile High is a sweet, steamy short read that packs a lot more emotion than your heart can deal with. It is a brilliant introduction to a story that I cannot wait to continue. Wonderfully written and addictive. Could not recommend it more!

Attraction leaps off the pages. B. Cranford creates an engaging story of seat mates feeling the spark on a trans-Pacific adventure. If you don't believe in soul mates, this story will make you believe they can show up anywhere. Anxiously awaiting the second half of this duet.

Hot things come in small packages

Love at first sight at an airport? Lucas Hawke sure thinks it could be. The sweet, hot Australian heading home from the US cannot take his eyes off the gorgeous woman before boarding. Fate is on his side when his seat-mate is the lovely recently divorced Bianca, who is escaping the happy couples who surround her at home.

While I can be skeptical of instant connection romance, theirs is written so honestly and well. I found myself rooting for romantic Lucas and love-wary Bianca. He is so open, and she is wounded but not fatally so. Thirteen hours of laughter, tears, making out, and some mile-hijinks kept me up well past bedtime. What will happen once their time onboard ends? Can the burgeoning couple keep up the heat once they are back on terra firma? We don’t have to wait long until the second novella spills its sexy secrets.

Mile High may be a novella (the second part coming right up), but it doesn’t lack any of the verbal wonder of B. Cranford’s longer works. Added bonus--it’s always a treat to have small cameos from Beth’s other amazing books, and we get some girlfriend banter packed into this mighty little read. Highly recommend!

"The thing is, even if she was the aggressor, ultimately, he was the one who cheated on me. Who broke his promise."

PSA: this ends on a huge cliff-hanger.

SUMMARY
Bianca Evers is still reeling from her soon-to-be ex-husband's infidelity. Desperate to make an escape for the holidays, she books an impromptu flight to Australia to find herself. She doesn't factor in being seated next to Lucas Hawke, a sexy Aussie on his way home. When sparks fly between the two, they have to decide if their connection will end or continue after the plane lands.

REVIEW
This was so much fun. I loved that about 80% of this novella focused on the connection between Bianca and Lucas - that it was just insta-smut. There is heat and tension between our two characters, and they are have really cute banter. Of course, we do get a steamy bathroom scene (it is called Mile High), but the steam-factor of this book isn't that high.

As an Aussie myself, I did role my eyes at some of the clichés - the author is also Aussie so I wonder why she went a little heavy at times...

This leaves off on a MASSIVE CLIFFHANGER! Like middle-of-a-conversation cliffhanger. If I wasn't afraid of breaking my Kindle, I would've thrown it across the room. It is part of (well, mostly) the reason why I didn't give it 5-stars.

Overall, I definitely want to continue on with this duet and will check out more from B. Cranford.

I've said it once and I'll say it again...how is it fair for someone to as beautiful as the cover girl?!? As introductions goes this short story was as perfect as they come giving us just a glimpse what promises to be a great read in The arrival of you. I can't wait to see the chemistry exploding between Bianca and Lucas and hopefully bring the HEA they both deserve!!!

I was amazed at the quality of this novella. The short story takes place on a flight from USA to Australia. The attention to details is superb. The fact that the writer got the type of aircraft and the layout pretty much right, made me award an extra star.
Punctuation and grammar were on point - a welcome break from the pieces of crap that I have to correct as I read.
The switch between telling of story from hero and heroine's perspective was very well done.

Kudos to the author.

With a mixture of cute, sweet and sexy, Mile High gives a fun and steamy start to the Mile High duet. Bianca Evers & Lucas Hawke and that plane ride had my heart happy and put a slight blush on my cheeks. Can’t wait to see how it all lands in The Arrival of You.

This novella was a beautiful introduction to Bianca and Lucas. Hot, steamy interactions coupled with pure vulnerability. The sharing of their past loves and loss in addition to the chemistry had me turning pages quickly. It felt like the best foreplay and now I'm worked up and ready for more.

I have loved all of Ms. Cranford's stories.  This novella, that was first published on Book + Main as a serial was no exception.  To find out she has expanded it a bit and put it all together is fantastic and I didn't want it to end!

This is the chance meeting between Bianca and Lucas.  Now if you have read any of Ms. Cranford's stories, Bianca is a secondary character to her Avenue series and Lucas has a small mention in She Found Him, but don't let that scare you off! Get you hands on this quick paced, hotter than Hades story!

This is an airplane ride of epicness!  Why weren't my intercontinental flights like this?!?

From the first meet-cute to the cozy ending, this story is gonna leave you craving more, more, more!

Get you hands on this and I am absolutely stoked for the next book The Arrival of You!!

So well written, a fun and exciting blending of Australian and American characters!

So not many insta connection stories grab me but y'all this one had me by the throat and I never want it to leave me.

I am sitting here rooting so hard for my girl, Bianca. I want her to stomp on the men who have hurt her. I want her to rule this world. She is so so strong but at the same time there is this vulnerability about her that is so damn real and endearing.

Lucas is my boo and I LOVE the subtle beta vibes I was getting from him. I think he might be in a serious competition of winning my heart for ever and ever. I am sweating bullets here because of this lovesick fool and his tender heart. If he gets hurt I WILL RIOT!!

This story was quite possibly one of the hottest yet most meaningful stories I've read in a long time. And this is just starting. I cannot wait for what's about to happen next. My mind is already blown!

When Bianca decides to spend the holidays in Australia she never imagined meeting someone she instantly connected with on the 14 hour plane ride. Lucas who is going back home sees Bianca in the airport and wants to get to know her better. Low and behold they end up seatmates and it is not only their seats that are touching. But can you fall for someone you have just met? How far do you have to go to join the mile high club? Short, sweet and sexy this book was a great read.

Bianca and Lucas are awesome! Both are coming out of a relationship and both have trust issues. Bianca's trust issues are bigger than Lucas's. There is the instant spark, zing or attraction to the other. Seated next to each other on a plane headed to Australia they have 15 hours to decide if they want to pursue this zing further. What happens when their time runs out?

Bianca and Lucas meet as strangers on a long flight to Australia. Fast and steamy, both characters were extremely likeable and had interesting stories to tell. The chemistrybetween them was instant and both Bianca and Lucas were sweet and funny. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I cannot wait to see how their story develops in The Arrival of You.

Mile High is quite the sexy and sweet story! Absolutely loved Bianca and Lucas, complete strangers who meet on a plane and have this instant attraction and chemistry between them, and are willing to see how far they can go while on a long flight to Australia. Had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading this. Cannot wait to see how this all plays out between them!
