Declan Pierce Everybody is so sensitive these days. I can't look at a woman and admire her without some BS about misconduct. Give me a f*ing break. She works for me and I pay her salary. What?
Skye Bradley He fired me, then re-hired me. He could do his own technology, for all I cared. I just wanted peace of mind. He refused to give it to me. He also refused to let me go.

Xyla Turner was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She has always been a writer, even as a teenager, she wrote short stories and essays that won awards and nation-wide competitions. Xyla is an avid reader of romance novels and a sucker for sassy females and dominant males. She is a lifelong learner, High School Vice-Principal and a pretty good Auntie. Outside of reading, Xyla likes to spend time with her family and friends, experiment with dangerous adventures and travel. She writes different genres, but her favorite is romance.
I really liked the plot of the story. It’s very relevant to today’s climate. I don’t know how I feel about Skye. I thought that she was on the spectrum like “Duncan” (highly recommend read) but then I’m wondering if she just suffers from lack of social skills. She wasn’t clear as to what she wanted like Declan did. At least not to me. At one part in the story, she told Declan that she couldn’t be with him while she was still under his employ but the second she finds out that he was going to resign his position to be with her she basically said, “that’s not what I meant”. Girl, what? I didn’t like how she wanted Declan to understand and have empathy as to what women went through but no one brought up her lack of social skills. Which reminds me, she stormed in Declan’s office, DURING a meeting, and demanded answers about a situation with another coworker. After his explanation, she said “ok” and walked out. For real?! She claims she all about keeping her relationship a secret at work but she walks in the middle of meeting to demand answers? I kind of was turned off by Skye at that point.
I felt that Skye and Declan didn’t click. I felt that his feelings were more stronger for Skye than Skye’s for Declan. He said, “I love you”....she said, “I’ll see you at dinner”. I mean, no kind of recognition for what he said to her.
I APPLAUDED Mr. Todd (HR Specialist) when they had the meeting with Elaine Bryant. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I LOVE Ms. Turners work and I recommend that you read all of her stories...in order 💕
I didn't identify with this heroine but she kicked ass with her computer skills. Given her personality, it made me think what would have happened if she'd been paired with Duncan instead. Carter, then Trent holds a place in my heart! Be sure to read their stories and read this one too! Recommended.
I enjoyed the #methree books as a whole, but this one wasn’t my favorite. Skye was a quirky and interesting character. I appreciated her introverted personality, but she was a bit too stiff and regimented for me. Her Sunday ritual was a bit much. Who shines and polishes their shoes weekly unless they are in the military? I mean what kind of shoes was she wearing?
Declan was described as this hot alpha male, but he acted more like a beta unless someone was touching or talking about Skye. At that point he went straight possessive alpha. Any other time he was bending to Skye’s will in order to please her. Not saying that an alpha doesn’t do things to please his woman, but Declan has no backbone when it came to her. I need my alphas to buck up every now and then and show their dominance. I believe that is what kept me from salivating over him.
He clearly was bothered by that situation at work with Elaine’s trifling tail. She was the type of chick that ruins it for all women. The story had plenty of lessons wrapped around sexual harassment and expertly touched on the thoughts of both men and women on both sides of the me too movement. The author did a good job weaving that into the story.
Though not my favorite in the series, it was still an enjoyable read.

"Declan" by Xyla Turner
My Rationalization:
I enjoy the story "Declan" that featured two people to were destined to fall in love whether it was 'drama, betrayal, hope, dreams, deception, intrigue, suspense, laughable moments, friendship sexual harassment,' to finally finding its true love. This is what happened to this alpha male and a true nerd [jinkies]. It was quite a ride seeing Declan and Skye end up together after a really horrible start. I will say that the heroine did get on my last nerve at times but it all seems to have worked out by the end of the story that had lots of interactions. If you are looking for a good story this one will definitely give it to you in one entertaining good read.
I went in with high hope but didn’t particularly like this one. ☹️ I just didn’t connect with the main characters and the story felt kind of rushed to me. Still looking forward to the next installment in the series though.
Something about this book didn't click for me and I think that it was Skye's character. It wasn't that I disliked her character either; but I was left feeling that her and Declan's relationship was not balanced. This story didn't touch me in the way the first book in this series did. I'll have wait a few days and read it again to see if my perspective changes; but it was a nice story and I was definitely impressed with the depth of Declan's growth. That alone made the story worth the read.
This book had you thinking as well as learning a few things. I really liked the characters and the fact that one of the main characters wasn't perfect to go along with being beautiful. I liked her quirkiness
I love the fact that Declan had a specific way of thinking before meeting Skye but it changed after getting educated on things that he wasn't knowledgeable. And since meeting her Declan wanted do to his part to be apart of the solution and not the problem especially since hearing from someone close to him from his past. I'm glad that Skye was the type of woman who was strong and confident in herself as a person and in her traditions that she wouldn't accept being anything but a priority in someone's life and not an afterthought. There was some characters that made me angry while reading this story, but that goes with any good written story, they're there to take you on a journey of different emotions and discoveries. I love that this series is based on things that are relatable in our society today but I wish more people would take it seriously and get educated on the subject before just hearing one side and throwing their judgemental thoughts and beliefs out into the world.

I enjoyed Skye and Declan's story. This book had a different feel to me, maybe due to the silent fierceness that is Skye. She is definitely a strong female character and I enjoyed her no nonsense ways. I liked Declan's character as well and thought the two made a great pairing though sometimes it was hard to figure out Skye. I just came to the conclusion that she was different and that is what drew Declan in. The writing was engaging and the pacing was spot on. There were some editing issues that made me pull a star. Otherwise, this is a quick adult read that deals with sexual harassment in the workplace.
I retired during the pandemic. My daughter had a baby in Feb. so from March 13 until June 30 I worked remotely and cared for my new grand baby and READ. I retired the first of July. I have explored more authors than I can recall and I have dived head first into the universes created by Xyla Turner. So the story of quiet but steely Skye and Declan is my favorite. Read and enjoy!
I love the fact that Skye is the smart no nonesence type and honest to a fault. That is my type of a heroine😁😁
I also loved the fact that this book shows that often times people are ignorant of things they have never experienced themselves. That doesn't make them bad people, so give them the benefit of the doubt and be honest with them. If you explain yourselve in a calm and reasonable way and they still act crazy than you can cutt your losses.
I really enjoyed reading Skye and Declan’s story. I’ve never read a character like her but I really appreciated her uncompromising truth and her intelligence. Declan had a few unfavorable points of views at the beginning however this was only due to ignorance. He was so open to learning more. I loved how when he found a good thing in Skye, he did not waste a lot time and neither did she.
I was expecting to love this one as much as I did. It started one way and then ended up in a completely different direction and I loved it. I love the way that the emotional roles were reversed. This author continues to surprise me and I'm here for it.
I enjoyed this series I like the way the female lead written about with real heart. So much of what is covered in the me too movement is so bang on the money. Well written an enjoyable read.
This book is very romantic and sweet. The characters are very detailed and the plot will suck you in like a hallmark movie. Beautifully written with strong characters presences over all. This story will melt your heart
I discovered this author reading the lunchtime Chronicles and she drew me in. I prefer a quick read but this book was worth the extra time. I look forward to reading her other books.
really not that good. pacing all off and declan of course needed to hear from an objective MAN that all these sexual assault allegations were not made up. wanted him to die in a fire.
