BJ Wane continues to write outstanding stories that have mystery, suspense, action, and of course lots of love! This is the fifth story in the Cowboy Doms series. It can easily be read as a stand alone story but you will want to read the other stories in the series because they are in this story too. I loved reading this story from the very beginning. You see the story from everybody's perspective, not just one.
Kelsey seems to attract trouble. When she was seven, there was an attempted kidnapping. When she was older, another attack. Now just about 30, she gets attacked again. She is a nobody. She lost her parents when she was five. She was found wandering the streets and put into foster care. She go lucky and found her forever home when she was 10, and she has been part of their family ever since. She is a boring accountant, has had four very boring relationships where the guys left her and is weeks away from the big 3-0. Her foster parents are very close with her, they are FBI agents and they have a teeny, tiny little secret they have kept from her. When she is attacked the last time when she was doing the books for a club at night, nobody knows if the attacker was there for her or for the information from/about the club. Her parents send her out to Montana with some former FBI agents who have a dude ranch. Nobody would expect her to be in Montana when she is a Phili city girl.
Greg and Devin are former FBI agents who have been friends since middle school. They had a bad experience while protecting someone, they slipped up and slept with her and then lost her. They went back home to Montana and built a dude ranch. They don't want to do anything with protective services again, when their old boss calls up and asks a favor to protect his foster daughter until they can find out if the attempt on her was for her or something else. Greg agrees but Devin wants nothing to do with it. Barely two weeks into the month and they are both head over heals for the spit-fire on wheels. She looks like a tiny fae with being so petite with long white blonde hair, but she gives back like a brat. Now they are both terrified that history will repeat itself and lose her and their heart too.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
