Inspired by the incredible true story of an Australian shipwreck and those who survived to tell the tale.

When the Black Swallow sinks off the Australian coast in 1877, Australian midshipman Tom Darley rescues English passenger Ada Carmichael from the disaster that claims her entire family. News of the only two survivors enchants the world, but Ada needs to hide before secrets and old foes find her. Tom is chasing big dreams of a crumbling house he will convert into a small hotel ~ but the promising start he’s acquired now sits at the bottom of the sea.

Inexplicably entangled, Ada and Tom lean upon each other to make sense of the tragedy that’s displaced them. But when scheming journalists observe their affection they drag Tom into life-altering riches and a news-worthy romance he cannot resist. So he arranges for Ada’s protection where only he might find her ~ the quiet Phillip Island farm of his friends Shadrach and Finella Jones.

And that’s where real trouble finds them. When heroic promises fail to shelter, and love refuses to be silenced, only surrender will pluck Ada and Tom from where life has wrecked them.

Riveting and masterfully written, Carry Me Away will do just that, immersing you in a devastating storm, a historic shipwreck, and the idyllic hideaway of Phillip Island in Australia. These flesh and blood characters are so finely crafted they feel more like friends, each winning your heart in unique, soul-stretching ways. A poignant, oft suspenseful, and thoroughly romantic journey through the valleys of loss and grief to the heights of healing and hope. –Laura Frantz, Christy Award-winning author of The Lacemaker

A gorgeously written and skillfully rendered tale of rescue, redemption, and the courage required to love. –Siri Mitchell, Author of Chateau of Echoes

Gorgeous and gripping, Carry Me Away is a novel you won’t forget. Ada and Tom’s deep attraction and clashing needs create a poignant love story, and Dorothy Adamek writes about grief and love in a way that is palpable and heartfelt. But the ending—oh, the ending! So sweet and triumphant and affirming that I want to tell everyone—except I want you to discover it for yourself. Let the lovely writing carry you away to picturesque Phillip Island, and be swept away by Tom and Ada’s tale.

Carry Me Away is another beautiful tale from the imagination and heart of Dorothy Adamek. This Australian-born storyteller had me at the first line and secured her hold on me with a hero worth rooting for. Based on true events of a late 19th-century shipwreck off the coast near Melbourne, this lyrical, heartfelt journey of two battered souls finding healing, redemption, and love will keep the pages turning—as will lush descriptions sure to make readers long to take a trip Down Under. –Tamara Leigh, USA Today bestselling author of the Age of Faith and Age of Conquest series

Richly poetic in the tradition of Lori Benton and Laura Frantz with the sensory prose of Joanne Bischof, Carry Me Away marries impeccable research with a stunning love story. The sea-swept canvas of Phillip Island offers a vibrant backdrop to Tom and Ada’s unexpected adventure and resonant themes of faith and endurance amidst tragedy and loss. A beautiful companion to Adamek’s fresh debut, Carry Me Away is an intelligent treatise on the nature of rebuilding, of forging new family, and of finally finding home.

After adoring the author's debut, I've been waiting and waiting for her sophomore novel to release.

The time between novels has provided an opportunity to see the photos the author has shared through social media of Phillips Island, the setting of Carry Me Away. That has helped bring the setting to life.

As with her debut, the words are part poetry. I loved the author's note at the end which shared the facts that brought this novel to fruition. While I didn't love the characters as much as I would have liked, it was an enjoyable novel.

A masterpiece...

My heart was completely swept away by this book… So many feels, so many emotions, so much love for this story and the characters within. Two broken people washed up out of the sea after a shipwreck. Ada’s struggles are so real you will beg for her happy ending. Tom has a hero’s heart who pursues her with his love. My heart and mind are still on Phillip Island right now. Dorothy Adamek weaves words so poetically that Tom and Ada will dig deep into your heart and stay with you. Truly a book not to be missed. In fact, that it’s based on a true 19th century shipwreck, where the author writes what could have been, made it truly a gripping read. The scenery is breathtaking from Melbourne to Philip island.

The opening of Carry Me Away weaves a mystery that draws the heart right into the story. Adamek’s poetic writing as the ship slowly slips under the sea was beautifully written.

A glimpse into Tom and Ada after they’re shipwrecked with some of my favorite quotes: Just as Tom wants to give up living, he hears a cry for help and in that cry he finds hope. He is not the only survivor.

“Hold onto me, no matter what”

“Shh. I’m here now, Ada. Carry away to me.”

Then the next morning...
“She sat up to the sight of a beach so God-breathed, it sparkled as if every shade of heaven’s emeralds had fallen from the sky.”

I’m sharing only a few quotes as I don’t want there to be spoilers. if you love history, mystery, and romance based on true stories, you will love Carry Me Away. Truly a masterpiece not to be missed.

I was provided an ARC of this book by the publisher. All opinions in this review are my own.

'Survival is made of many parts. First, your skin will heal. Then your bones.'

1877. The Black Swallow sinks off the Australian coast, a horrific event that leaves only two survivors, Tom Darley and Ada Carmichael. This deftly written novel details the aftermath of that shipwreck, which is inspired by the true story. Ada has lost her entire family and Tom rescues her. Both of these have been through rough waters, so to speak, with forgotten dreams, feared enemies and old secrets.

Soon the journalists of the day converge and clamor for the story from Tom and Ada. Tom arranges for Ada to go to a friend's home on Philip Island, a beautiful and quiet, peaceful place. We, lucky readers, get a chance to meet old friends again from Adamek's first novel, Shadrach and Finella Jones. A novel I enjoyed immensely. However, they are not sheltered as completely as they'd hoped from the world's woes. They must depend on each other and love to rescue them again.

When I read Dorothy Adamek's debut novel, I thought it was greatly moving and her style continues through to this novel and she will always, I believe, inspire her readers with her deftness of telling the tale. She has written well of courage, healing, redemption and rescue that will grip the reader, and the poignancy of the love is completely heartfelt. As Tom and Ada endeavor to find their home, you will be captivated by the sweeping beauty of Adamek's writing skills.

*My thanks to the publisher and author for a preview copy of this book. The opinions stated here are entirely my own.

I’m tempted to say I’ll take a ship wreck any day if it brings me a hero like Tom Darley, but the truth is I can’t even handle shipwrecks in movies, let alone real life. Thankfully, I’m a little better with shipwrecks in novels, because this is a story I definitely would not want to miss. Not only is Dorothy Adamek’s writing lyrical and emotionally resonant but she pens stories that capture you from the first word to the last. To have them set in my native Australia is just the icing on the cake.

As I’ve already intimated, Tom Darley is quite the hero—both literally and literarily! I have a crater-sized soft spot for heroes who pursue their heroine respectfully but determinedly, and I defy any reader not to swoon at least a little as Tom finds different ways to breach the wall Ada feels she needs to build around her heart. Not to mention *ahem* a few heart-melting kisses.

Meanwhile, Ada’s story can’t help but be compelling. She’s lost everything—her family included—and only just managed to survive herself, yet ironically, the widespread interest in her survival story has the potential to resurrect the one part of her life she was trying to permanently bury. Before long, her determination to remain hidden is the only thing standing in the way of Tom realising a long-standing dream—a perfect recipe for romantic tension if ever there was one!

As these tensions bubble beneath the surface, we’re invited into the Phillip Island community Ada seeks refuge in, including Shadrach and Finella from Carry Me Away and a host of other secondary characters. The landscape, island life, even historical details like silkworm farming, come to life as Tom and Ada’s story plays out, bringing some surprising turns and wonderful character growth along the way.

A fully immersive and very satisfying read that should be on every historical romance lover’s radar!

I received a copy of this novel from the author. This has not influenced the content of my review, which is my honest and unbiased opinion.

Carry Me Away is a way-beyond-satisfying tale of one shipwreck, its only two survivors, and the emotional baggage each carries to cope with the consequences of choices made — before and after the Black Swallow breaks apart off the coast of Melbourne, Australia.
Tom Darley and Ada Carmichael are thrust into the limelight and kept there by a public who will accept nothing less than a happily-ever-after for the ever-smiling midshipman who meets life head on, and the ever-serious doctor’s daughter who prefers running from life rather than living it.
Dorothy Adamek’s tale, based on true events, is a beautifully crafted story that I found difficult to put down. From the riveting and heart-wrenching shipwreck scene, to Ada’s poignant journal entries, to Tom’s shocking revelation (no spoiler alert here, but I had quite distinct physical and verbal reactions when I read it!), and all the romantic and swoon-worthy scenes in between, Carry Me Away did just that...to the beautiful Phillip Island where Tom and Ada overcome tragedy, bitterness, regret, and loss as they begin to heal, forgive, grow, and love.
Laura Frantz fans will devour Adamek’s lyrical writing style, impeccable research (who knew silkworm production could be intriguing?), and vivid, fresh descriptions (“soft-boiled yellow” and “held up her story like a dead hare by the ears”).
Carry Me Away is the whole package. Adamek uses superb writing to construct scenes and dialogue that flow and are not forced and that elicit from the reader a host of emotions. She skillfully peels layer after layer from characters until we fully understand why we feel for them the way we feel.
Carry Me Away can be read as a stand-alone but it is an impressive sequel to her debut series novel, Carry Me Home, which put Adamek on my ATB (automatic-to-buy) author list. The third book in the Blue Wren Shallows series can’t come soon enough for me. I received an advanced copy of CMA but was not solicited by the author to write a review.

When a book grips the reader from the first pages, excuses are made throughout the day to keep reading....
One more page, okay just to the end of the chapter....until you close the last page wishing you hadn’t read it so fast....
I read Carry Me Away by Dorothy Adamek in a day and a half. I could not put it down.
It is a tale of shipwrecks, history, early Australia, friendship, family, terror, tragedy, loss and love and silkworms...Yes silkworms!
It is a tale of love of Ada and Tom. Trust broken. Trust regained.
If you read Carry Me Home Book 1 of Book Wren Shallows series you will meet, old friends and catch up with their lives which is always satisfying.
Carry Me Away is set in Phillip Island, 140 kms south east of Melbourne Victoria. It has a rich history of inhabitants of the Bunurong people and in 1841 as a squatting run of the McHaffie family. As quoted in the book, ‘...a mere dot on the map. Accessible only by sea.’
Today the island has a bridge from the mainland to bring the multitude of tourists to see the fairy penguins, mutton birds, beaches, surf and motor sport overlooking the wild, unpredictable Bass Strait.
I am very lucky to know Phillip Island or ‘the island’ as known by the locals. To know what the ‘Little White Church’ looks and feels and smells like; what walking on the beach of Ventnor is like, to walk on the Cowes pier and how quickly the weather can build from a sunny day of seas flat like a mirror, to a roaring dark monster devouring all who venture.
It is a book inspired by a true tale of the sinking of the Loch Ard in 1878. It will leave you wanting the third book (in the pipeline) and also wanting to visit Phillip Island....one day.
Dorothy has written a brilliant second book and it is one you will want in your list have to read.

Miss Ada Carmichael and her family are immigrating to Australia on the Black Swallow. Tom Darley is a member of the crew. They are about to become the only two survivors of a tragic shipwreck, and turns them into national darlings.

But Ada doesn’t want to be a national darling. She wants to escape, hide, and stay hidden. She’s had bad experiences with the press, and knows how the newspapers twist the truth for their own ends. Tom Pearce has ambitions that mean he wants to court the press—especially when someone offers him his dream.

It’s an original and well-plotted story, with twists, turns, and hidden depths. There are also hidden depths in the characters, and it’s wonderful to see Ada change and mature as the story progresses. This is definitely Ada’s story: she is the one with the most hurts in her past, and she is the one who has to find the strength to move past those hurts and transform … much like the silkworms she nurtures.

I’m always a fan of well-researched historical fiction that’s true to the timeframe and has a link to a historical event. As the Author Note at the end of Carry Me Away shows, Dorothy Adamek has done her research, and has seamlessly incorporated several real-live events into her story. There really was a shipwreck and ther really were only two survivors. There really was a court case about a betrothal, a local lady did raise silkworms, and and there a Chinese hawker supplied the residents of Phillip Island with tea and spices.

As such, Carry Me Away is a treat for fans of authentic historical fiction, with an original and layered plot, likeable characters, and beautiful writing.

Dear Tom flawlessly embodies the role of the chivalrous hero. While he certainly owns his share of blunders, Tom is perfectly wonderful at heart. Practical Ada is understandably hesitant to jump into a romantic attachment while grieving her numerous losses. Her pragmatic take on the future leaves little room for happily ever afters.

Fortunately, with the addition of a bit of patience, Tom is well-equipped for the task of sweeping a certain reluctant lady off her feet and winning his way into her heart. Ada may say leave me alone with her words but her heart cries Carry Me Away!

This story and its predecessor are brilliantly written and completely engaging! I highly recommend this second installment of the Blue Wren Shallows series and encourage readers to first pick up Carry Me Home to avoid spoilers. I'm eagerly looking forward to future works by Dorothy Adamek!

Carry Me Away is a beautiful and heartfelt novel inspired by the true story of an Australian Shipwreck and I got swept up in this novel from the very first page. It is such an emotional read filled with characters who I absolutely adored, well there is one character who was truly despicable but he played an important role in the storyline.

The setting of Australia in 1877, Tom Darley and Ada Carmichael are two survivors of the shipwreck that took the lives of so many, including Ada's entire family. Oh, how I cried for her loss but kept hoping she would have the life she deserved. I cannot imagine the pain of losing my loved ones like she did. Tom and Ada both suffered the loss of family and friends not to mention there personal possessions. They shared a bond formed by the tragic events they shared but it seemed impossible for them to live a peaceful life once journalists discover where they were staying which led Ada to go into hiding at the home of Shadrach and Finella Jones. I loved this couple so much and was glad Ada had a safe place to stay away from the prying eyes of the public. The reader gets to learn all about silkworms, which I have to admit was pretty interesting. Shadrach and Finella are characters from the first book in the series so you may want to read that book first to get to know them better.

Overall, I thought this novel was one of the best I have had the pleasure of reading, it's impeccably written and truly compelling which is why I highly recommend it.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher. All opinions are completely my own.

Based on real events, it's intriguing how the author wove together a tale of shipwreck, two survivors with lots of emotional baggage to handle wanting to escape the consequences of their choices.
Dorothy Adamek pens a tale so beautiful, it holds you spellbound from the first word till the last wanting to know what happens next how exactly do they survive and handle what comes at them.
Being in the limelight is the last place Ada wants to be based on past experiences. But there she finds herself as a survivor of a shipwreck and the public won't let her go until she gives them what they want. A love story between her and Tom. But demons from her past hold her back and she wants nothing more than to hide because fame she has had before but the price she paid she's not willing to relive it again. I enjoyed Ada's journey from fear to discovery, of finding herself and the strength to face her demons.
And Tom, I've come to accept that there'd always be swoon-worthy heroes in any book I read from this author fighting for the girl, loving her despite her fears. Tom did just that for Ada a steadfastness in the midst of all the crazy. And even when his dreams seemed to get in the way of their relationship he was willing to let go to prove she was worth it.
A wonderfully captivating book with vivid yet fresh descriptions that keep you wanting more.

Tom and Ada's story of tragedy, loss, forgiveness, love and letting go of the past is simply lovely. I didn't want it to end. Adamek seduces the reader with her language, gorgeous metaphors and visual imagery of historical Victoria and more specifically Phillip Island. But most significantly we fall in love with her characters and not just the leading duo. Even the supporting cast are wonderful creations (including the villains). It's clear she spends a lot of time creating each cast member as evidenced by the many children and teenagers who are so lovingly captured on the canvas of her writing pad.

But it is Tom and Ada who we grow to love as they grapple with the incredible loss of so much and question each other's motives and desires while having to deal with significant trauma from their past. Adamek refines two sparkling gems out of the devastation and heartache with a finesse and gentleness that has us completely smitten with both by the last page.

I'm excited for the epic conclusion to the Blue Wren series.

Set in Australia 1877, this follows the story of Ada Carmichael and Tom Darley, following their survival from a devastating shipwreck. I thought that Dorothy gave good representation of what Ada and Tom went through as they journey through their recovery from the wreck. Not just the physical recovery, also the emotional recovery that went along with the secrets and hurts from their past that seem to be hindering them from being able to recover from all that entailed. This is a powerful story of forgiveness, redemption and new beginnings. I received an ARC copy of this book, and all opinions expressed are my own

On a side note, loved how we were able to catch up on the characters from Dorothy's first book "Carry me home"

What happens when you combine a true story, a talented Australian author and a good imagination? You get this beautifully written novel about a ship wreck that happened and what could have been. Tom and Ada survive the unthinkable shipwreck. There is so much to say about this book. So much to love. So many emotions. The beauty of it. The emotions Ada and Tom both go through. This a special book with the story written within. I’m very thankful to have read it and definitely recommend it to others. I received a copy of this book from the author. In her lovely lyrical prose, author Dorothy Adamek carries the reader away on a heart-rending journey to the "land down under"—with its exotic seaside beauty, scents of jasmine and roses permeating the air, and the strange cries of kookaburras and magpies—Australia.

Midshipman Tom Darley and Ada Carmichael are the lone survivors of a shipwreck who must learn to heal amidst the tragic losses they have sustained. Ada's sorrow and grief broke my heart and one of my favorite lines in the book was "She laughed." Oh, how I loved "hearing" the sound of it...finally! What a beautiful, compassionate heroine Ada is, but her life is totally bound by sadness and fear. Tom is the quintessential, charming hero who saved Ada from the depths of the sea, only to have greater nightmares to rescue her from.

What an amazing story! So beautifully written it was like reading sheer poetry, and the love story between the pages sublime and timeless. I read this book slowly as if savoring fine chocolate and not wanting to finish it. Although the characters in the 1st book in this series play a major role in this novel, Carry Me Away can be read as a stand-alone. One of my top 10 fave reads of 2019!

The cover depicted how Ada Carmichael was drawn to the sea even though tragedy struck her. She was always looking for anything that would wash up from the wreck of the Black Swallow. Tom also had to deal with loss when the Black Swallow sank.

The two main characters each had much tragedy in their lives and it took time and love to work through these horrific events. To me Ada had more to deal with than did Tom.

The book brought out bullying in the 19th century. That type of behavior is still going on in the 21st century. This bullying made the whole family suffer. They went on a courageous journey from England to Australia.

I learned a lot about how silkworms create their beauty. I could see the similarities with Ada and her fears and how the silkworms had to work their way free. Ada had to face her fears head on so that she could be free.

The author has a wonderful way with words. I especially liked when Tom said to Ada, "Carry Away Me." That is an interesting play on the title of the book.

I also enjoyed the story of Finella and Shadrach. What a loving couple! I want to read their story from book 1 of this series.

I rate this book with 4 stars.

With richly painted settings and colorful, engaging characters, Dorothy Adamek carried me away to far off Australia in her new book. Her beautiful, poetic prose and creative story based on a true occurrence swept me right in and kept me enthralled. Tom Darley is a perfect caring, courageous, though broken hero. I loved how considerate he was of Ada and her grief. The heroine, Ada Carmichael, showed such great courage and determination in making a new life for herself after losing everything.

Adamek is a master at revealing the story layer by layer to keep interest high. There’s a little bit of everything in this tale—adventure, suspense, intrigue, romance, history, and inspiration. It’s a story of redemption, healing, courage, and trust that won’t soon be forgotten. Although Carry Me Away is part of a series, it can stand alone. Characters from Adamek’s first book, Carry Me Home, make appearances in this one. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author. 4.5 stars

Carry Me Away by Dorothy Adamek is the second book in the Blue Wren Shallows series and definitely worth reading if you love inspirational historical romances. This story brings out all of the feels so make sure you have a box of tissues handy.
Ada Carmichael and her family were on a journey fleeing from the only life they ever knew when disaster strikes and takes them all from her. Tom Darley was able to save her physically, but she needs to look to the loving grace and redemption that only God can give her for the rest. Can Ada finally let go of the fear and guilt that keep her from accepting the love given freely from God and Tom so that she can start her life anew?
I'm definitely looking forward to reading more books in the future by this author.

I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

I have been eagerly awaiting this second book in the Blue Wren Shallows series and as with the first, I couldn’t put it down once I started. Dorothy is a beautiful storyteller and you grow to love the characters she weaves into both of her books, played out against the stunning backdrop of Phillip Island.
The story of Ada and Tom is one of two broken people thrown together by tragedy. Over time, they come to build an unbreakable bond of love, forgiveness and finally trust.
I loved seeing these characters develop as individuals, as well as seeing them grow closer together. It was lovely to meet old characters again, as Dorothy seamlessly interlaced Shadrach and Finella’s storyline with Ada and Tom’s. Overall, an enchanting continuation of the Blue Wren Shallows series.

Carry Me Away is the fascinating second installment from Dorothy Adamek’s series, Blue Wren Shallows. It is based on the true event of a shipwreck in the late nineteenth century Australia and the two lone survivors. Tom and Ada’s world changes forever from the aftermath of Blue Swallows sinking.
I give Carry Me Away five plus stars. I hope a third book of the Blue Wren Shallows releases in the near future. I love the storytelling of Miss Adamek and highly recommend her books!

Like the author, I too have spent many holidays on Phillip Island and eventually retired there some years ago. I have visited Loch And Gorge and seen the memorial to the shipwreck victims and viewed the peacock in the Maritime Museum. This meant that the book resonated with me. I read "Carry me home" some 5 years ago and skimmed it again just before reading this next in the Blue Wren series. If anything, I think I liked the story of Tom and Ada even better than that of Shadrach and Finella (although they are present in this book too and and it was a lovely part of the story to read of the growth in their relationship). Tom and Ada's story is just that little bit more complex. The author can certainly describe remorse and conflicted emotions very poignantly. The human travails are well written but the descriptions of Phillip Island (which is central to both her books) - Cowes, Ventnor, Rhyll and Newhaven are evocative, especially when juxtaposed to the current townships. Wow would Shadrach, Finella, Tom and Ada be surprised.

This book took me almost three weeks to read, but not because (as is the case with so many other books) I struggled through it. Instead, I found that this was a book to be savored, for the most part, in small doses. By the time I got to about the 75% mark, I couldn't put it down. Before that, I put it down each day after about 15 to 30 minutes, with the comforting realization that I would be able to return to Tom and Ada's world again the next day. It was something to look forward to.

This is a delicious read. A captivating love story, and so much more. As soon as Finella and Shad were introduced in this book, I put their story on my TBR list. And I'm looking forward to reading Viola's story after that. I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked this book for a reading challenge, but I'm thrilled I did. Dorothy Adamek has just become one of my favorite, must-read authors.

I got carried away with this book because I couldn’t put it down!
I have to say this book touched me, and deeply. I haven’t read the first book in the series. I received an early copy of this book and somehow thought it was a debut novel. This is the second installment in the Blue Whren Shallows Series and it’s the first book I’ve read from Dorothy Adamek. I can truly say it won’t be my last, what a wonderful, deep, poignant, faith inspired, touching and emotional author! It’s like she let us peek at the soul of the main characters, their feelings, struggles, doubts, passions and dreams. And with such delicacy and beauty that you’re immediately immersed in their beautiful yet impossible world. Even if this book can be read as a standalone, I realize that it would be a richer experience if I would’ve read Finella and Shadrach’s story first, as we get to know more about them in this story.

This story is even more special because it is inspired in the incredible true story of an Australian Shipwreck and those who survive to tell about it. She gives details about the real story at the end of the book which I loved.

In this story Ada Carmichael and midshipman Tom Darley, each with a past story of grief and struggle, are present in the Black Shallow ship when it sinks off the Australian coast in 1877. They are the only survivors to the shipwreck and Ada is courageously saved by Tom when she discovers her in the water. This rescue will bind them together in a unique relationship, first the need to support each other and make sense of the tragedy they have survived, but the strong bond quickly grows into deeper feelings. But things will not be easy for them after the shipwreck. Ada is escaping a secret and terrifying past. In fact, her family was moving from England to Australia, to escape this situation and start anew in a new country. But now Ada lost her parents and sisters, is alone, and afraid her past will keep up with her and find her out. Tom has always pursued a dream with his best friend (who died in the shipwreck) of making an old shackled building into a lodge that can receive people in need to rest and restore themselves in a peaceful and natural environment. But that doesn’t seem possible anymore, until the journalists get hold of them and promise them a wealthy future if they let their romantic relationship be known and published in the newspaper. Ada is adamant about not going public, that would only expose her to the person who wants his vengeance over her. But Tom, not knowing what Ada is hiding, thinks it would be harmless. While he doesn’t give in to the journalists, he sends Ada, without her knowing its his idea, to the care of his friends Finella and Shadrach, where she can recover in hiding from the press and at being near him at the same time.

The journalist won’t take a “no” to a story that could make their journal famous and they will seek a way to expose this couple’s love to the public. And Ada’s fear will soon discover her hiding. How will Tom and Ada ever have a feature together when the past and the present are treathening to break the solid bond they have forged?

This was a beautiful story, that made me cry at times, mostly swoon, and laugh at others. The writing is almost poetic. I especially loved the parts that Ada writes in her “Everlasting” Journal, which Finella inherits her. It was truly like getting a frip into her soul.

I loved the characters: Tom was a loyal, faithful hero with a heart of gold. And Ada was a battered soul in need of redemption, but with Tom, Finella and Shadrach’s help she might discover that God’s plans never fail and that his unconditional love never wavers because he can always briong something greater out of the bad and suffering life throws our way.

The love story was so touching and so real. I felt for the characters, and I sighed at their fierce, yet almost impossible love.

I loved the part about the silkworms produce, it was really interesting and even if I had no idea how they function, I was fascinated by the description and amazed by the author’s knowledge of this biological theme.

I definitely recommend this story. It will break your heart and then restore it to pieces until you finally get to the HEA that was truly beautiful by the way. Loved it!

Unlikely circumstances result in an unlikely romance.
Ada Carmichael has just lost her entire family in a shipwreck. The Black Swallow has sunk of the coast of Australia and Ada herself would have been a causality had it not been for the heroic action of midshipman Tom Darley. As the two only survivors of the catastrophe, the media begins to go crazy. Ada desperately needs to stay hidden before her past comes back to haunt her, but Tom could really use this publicity to make his dream come true. When Tom’s plan to protect Ada go awry, it will take both of them to find redemption.
This is my first book by Adamek and she has a unique gift to bring a story setting to life. It takes a lot of talent to transport readers not only to a different time setting but an entirely different continent. It is easy to see that she is a native of Australia as her descriptive scenery was bar none. I felt as though I stood alongside the characters as I viewed the settings of the mainland and the island farms. The romance felt natural and didn’t seem forced. The characters fleshed out beautifully, flaws and all. This is the second in a series but easily a standalone. I recommend this to readers who love historical romances.
I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.

This story is incredibly lyrical and poetic. It is so beautifully written and will sweep you away! Keep you making excuses to put off all that you can to read til the end. This tale, based on true events, is of a shipwreck with only two survivors, Ada Carmichael and Tom Darley. Ada, who is running from her past, wants nothing to do with the limelight the newspapermen want to put her in. Tom, on the other hand, sees his dreams coming to reality, if only they could both work with them. Ada and Tom must confront their pasts, come to term with their circumstances, and decide whether to face the future apart or together. Carry Me Away has made me a huge fan of Dorothy Adamek's and I will attempt to patiently wait for the next book in this beautiful series!
