When a King loves
He loves hard

CADE
I’ve loved her since we were five years old.
We grew up side by side.
Two kids tied together by the Kings of Mayhem Motorcycle Club.
But I broke us.
I broke her.
So, she fled.
Now she’s back after twelve long years.
And I’m going to show her all the reasons why we should be together and make her forget all the reasons why we shouldn’t.

INDY
I’m back in town but only because I have to be.
I’m here to help my mom bury my father.
And the sooner we get it done, the better.
Because I want to see Cade as much as I want a hole in the head.
He broke me once—no, he broke my everything— and I’ll be damned if I’ll let him do it again.
Get in and get out. That is the plan.
But you know what they say about best-laid plans.

The whole time I was reading this, I kept thinking, "Wow, what missed potential." Truly. This could have been a seriously awesome 5-star MC romance for me.

Penny Dee has some solid writing skills under her belt. The character building was super decent and the relationship chemistry was great.

But here's what kept me from loving it:

1) The Flashbacks

There were way too many.
They were sometimes out of order.
They didn't always have a purpose.
And they went on for far too long - pretty much up until the very end.

2) The Ending

It was abrupt, unfinished, and too cliffhanger-ish in nature for my tastes. Yes, I get that you are setting us up for the next book...building our interest for the next book...but finish THIS book first. Make sure THIS book's couple has a clear HEA. Don't negate the value of a happy epilogue. You can always have something after that to build interest.

3) The Plot

This is obviously completely subjective and personal (as are all things in any review), but I feel like I should preface this point with that anyway.

I just didn't like how some things played out here. I didn't like how the first meeting of our second chance lovers went down or how the h handled herself in that moment. It ruined what I was expecting to be a superbly blissful moment of angst.

This is also where the overly constant flashbacks had some effect too. It made the flow of the plot feel a bit choppy.

All that said though, I might continue with the series just to see if it gets better. Sometimes first books in a series are the weakest and, with the evidence of Dee's solid writing ability, I'm willing to give it another go.

A big DNF.
SORRY that I can’t finish this ARC. I appreciate that I got it but I can’t read this any further.

Cade and Indy were childhood lovers. They are MC kids. But in high school something happens and they broke up and she runs away from him and the club.
Now she is a surgeon and quite content with her life. But her father’s sudden death has her going back to home for his funeral. It’s twelve years since she saw Cade.

Cade though still in love with Indy is busy fucking around. He is enjoying his life and is living a fully sexually satisfied life and he is still in LOVE with the heroine.
Wow....True Love ...aww

And you don’t want to know the reason why they broke up 12 years ago.
Any guesses??
Yes, he was busy fucking some random girl. The h sees this and runs away and never comes back for 12 years.
And even after this being there reason for breaking up, the hero still fucks around. I mean he is like wow this women who is fucking me right now is so hot...smokin hot.... but I still love Indy....but ..oh... this random women is giving such a good blowjob...but I shouldn’t be doing this....but...oh ...no...oh...wow...ah...amazing feeling. Oh but I still love Indy.

And some extra toppings...
The hero owns a BROTHEL , a PORN MOVIE PRODUCTION and a STRIP CLUB.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC.
I cannot finish this book as Cade’s man whorish past and numerous mentioning of all his exploits and then also having another serious girlfriend in the intervening years really didn’t prove to me how he could have loved and missed Indy that much....probably wasn’t all that convincing having an opening scene with him and another woman and showing the reader how much he was enjoying a bj. Yeah I could really feel the love that Cade had for Indy with that lovely scene which I could not get out of my head!

I love a good MC book but it’s been ages since I’ve read one.
The cover caught my attention because it’s fabulous but the blurb put me off. I’m not a huge fan of second chance romances and it seemed obvious “He broke me once...” meant he cheated on her. I’m not a huge fan of cheating either so I decided to just skip this one. But then the second book Brothers in Arms caught my attention and I knew I wanted to read that which meant reading this one first.
I scanned the reviews and found one that said when all was said and done they sided with Cade over the cheating so I was good to go.

This book was a pleasant surprise. It starts when Cade and Indy are both eighteen and then moves on twelve years to the present. And this is how their story unfolds.
We see the people they are today. Who they used to be. What they could have been.

I really enjoyed this book and I’m so glad I took the chance. And yes I agree with the other reviewer I’m totally team Cade.

It’s nicely told and a nice mix of past and present. We meet the members of the MC and I’m totally in love with Cade. I mean seriously who wouldn’t be?

I’m not sure what else to say apart from I can’t wait to read the next book. This ends on a cliffhanger so hopefully I won’t have to wait long.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by NetGalley.

Well that was .... exhausting. See, I'm definitely not a fan of flashbacks and this book had flashbacks right up until 90% through. Ninety percent! This drove me nuts and frustrated me no end. The push and pull was also relentless right up until that point too.

This ends on a sort of cliffhanger and I don't think I'll read the next book.

Steamy and sadness

This is the first book by this author that I have had the utmost pleasure of reading. It was unbelievably wonderful. Yes it's got that MC feel But it's well written and has all those great feels. There's heartfelt sadness and Romance. There is sorrow and happiness.

2 ⭐⭐ - Meh!
============

I wish she had come with me to the clubhouse. Maybe then I wouldn’t have drank too much. Maybe then I wouldn’t have fucked up our future together.

But I’d decided a while ago that I wasn’t that guy anymore. After twelve years of trying to fuck her out of my head, I realized that she wasn’t going anywhere, and no matter how many women fell into my bed, I was never going to fuck her out of my heart.

I was an asshole. It was my fault she left. I broke her. I broke us. I never denied it. But she . . . she was the one who turned and ran. I clenched my teeth. She was the one who ended us.

==>SEX OW<==
I didn’t know her name.

Mama said name-calling was for people who didn’t have many words. They weren’t smart enough to get their point across. So they used mean names, instead. I reached down and offered her my hand.

But the biker lifestyle was hell on the body. Booze. Drugs. Cigarettes. Partying. No sleep. Women. Lots of women.

==>DADDY ISSUES<==
I was sad he was such a monster and that I wouldn’t miss him. He had been a mean sonofabitch and we’d both let go of each other a lot sooner than the day I left town.

Nowadays, to make a legitimate income, the Kings had several sources of income: prostitution, pornography,

==>FUCK BUDDY<==
Megan and I had a weird relationship. A strange kind of mutual respect for one another. She got me. And I fucking admired her head for business—as well as the way she gave it.

A week later, I had walked in on his son fucking someone who wasn’t me. Less than a year after that, Garrett Calley was dead. I stood up and started to clear the table. I hated this fucking place.

“You know it was the biggest mistake of my life, right?”

What happened had changed everything. What he did broke my heart and stole our future from us.

==>DADDY ISSUES<==
He’d raised his hand and struck my mom to the ground.

She wasn’t ever going to end up like her mom, on her knees nursing a bloodied lip while people barbequed on her lawn and acted like the nothing had happened.

“I’m not hurting. I’m not hurting at all. My daddy was a mean sonofabitch who cheated on my mom, and put a fist in her jaw more than a couple of times. He was a bad husband and an even shittier father. So, no, I’m not hurting. I’m nothing. So spare me the apologies. And let’s just get this shit done so I can get out of the fuck out of here.”

==>SERIOUS GIRLFRIEND<==
When Krista thought she was pregnant and the relief I had felt when she wasn’t—because having a baby with another woman would make me feel even further away from the one true love of my life.

==>SEX OW<==
I wanted to do the things to her that I did with Mallory Massey, Cathy Winters, and Jane Peters. And Kelly Brunton from PE class. And Julie Anderson who was a grade above us and who liked to sneak me dirty notes when we passed each other in the school corridor between classes.

Before I could stop it, her mouth was on mine and she wrapped herself around me like she couldn’t get close enough. The flask fell to ground with a loud smack. And because I was unsteady from too much liquor, I fell, too. Cora landed on top of me, and with an enthusiastic moan she straddled me and leaned down to devour my mouth with hers.

It was Cade. And he was kissing Cora.

After finding him with Cora down by the beach I had left the wedding. I had taken a half-full bottle of wine from one of the reception tables and sat on the rooftop of the clubhouse looking up at the stars, trying to get my thoughts straight.

He didn’t know that I’d heard the things he had said to her.

==>GIRLFRIEND<==
At the time, he was dating a girl named Krista and we all thought he would end up marrying her. Then all of a sudden, he broke up with her and withdrew into himself. It took him a while to get his head right again.” He sighed. “Not that I’m sure he ever did.”

***4.5 ‘You Can Kiss Me As Much As You Like’ Stars***

That was NOT how I thought this book was going to end. And now I need the next one...like...yesterday?!?!

I mean seriously...WTF?!?

But…*deep breath in...slow breath out*...the review.

I’m always a little hesitant when I decide to dive into an MC romance because my track record with them is a 50/50 split on ones I’ve loved and ones that just haven’t worked out for me for one reason or another and this one was no different. But the cover reeled me in and the blurb peaked my interest and, with the exception of that ending, I really enjoyed this one. It was sweet, swoon worthy, eye roll inducing, smexy and filled with some really well written characters and that family feel that makes me want to hang out and get to know them a whole lot better.

I kinda fell in love with Cade. I mean it was hard not to fall in love with him. He’s got the alpha AF biker thing going on, but there’s this sweetness to him that just pulls you in. He’s a good man who loves his family and will protect them no matter what. Indy...I gotta be honest. She and I had a rough go of it, this isn’t to say that I didn’t like her because I did and I understood why she felt the things that she did, but...she tried me. She really did, but in the end I can honestly say that I really liked her and loved seeing her fiery personality finally come out.

Cade and Indy’s journey was all kinds of angsty/swoony goodness. It sounds a little strange, but they had even amounts of both of those and though there were things that drove me batshit crazy, it only showed that they belonged together. Their connection, their chemistry, was intense and the need to see them work things out and put the past behind them was strong. Now, in a situation where cheating is involved I do typically side with the party who had been cheated on, but in this case, after everything was exposed I was, and am, absolutely #TeamCade. No questions asked.

This is my first read by the author and I was hooked from the start. The writing was engaging, pacing was good and I really enjoyed the dual first person POV’s. I also really enjoy how she showed us just how deep the connection between Cade and Indy ran, it was well thought out and executed. The MC aspect was done well, it’s not as dark as some, but it’s still gritty and that family feel is definitely there. As for the supporting cast of characters. There are a lot of people I want more of. Each one we meet is well written and unique, though Sybil is my favorite of the bunch, she rocks! And as for that ending. Again, didn’t see that coming, but I NEED to know how it all works out, so bring on Brothers in Arms!

This review was originally posted on Addicted To RomanceI received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

King of Mayhem is the first book of the Kings of Mayhem series. I saw this book on Netgalley and I was really intrigued by the synopsis and lately I have been in the mood for MC romances (not sure why) but I really was also in the mood to try out a new author, I don't do it too often and Penny Dee is definitely a new to me author. I would like to point out that this book contains a cliffhanger and even though I HATE cliffhangers, I will mention that the cliffhanger in this story is not around the relationship, that has a more HFN feeling, but there are other events that leaves you hanging and I am curious on how the next book will develop.

Cade and Indy have been in love since they were children. They were next door neighbors, grew up together, protected each other and were each other's firsts. They also both were raised in the Kings of Mayhem MC. They had every hope for the future, but right when they were ready to go to college, Cade and Indy were broken apart and Indy left home and the man she loved and became a highly respected ER Doctor. But when her father dies, she comes home for his funeral and is thrown back in the world she had tried to forget and also and has to face up to Cade once more, the man she never stopped loving.

I was really on board with these two, although I did find that Indy was way judgmental and I didn't care for her character too much to be honest at least until the end there. I found the story to be a quick  and easy read, and I did like Cade quite a bit. He never gives up on fighting for Indy and what they have always had together. I really adored his determination but there is quite a bit of lessons that Indy has to learn and to overcome her own mistakes and judgments. But I am curious to see what will happen in book two. *crossing my fingers* I will enjoy seeing these two again and may it not have another cliffhanger and will be a winning conclusion.

This was book 1 in the "Kings of Mayhem MC" . For 12 years Cade Calley has been living with a broken heart that he was the cause of. When one of his club brothers die the only woman that he has ever loved comes back. Indigo "Indy" Parrish left the small town behind with a broken heart when her father died she returns back to her past. I really liked this book but I wanted to slap both of them. This book was told from the POV of both of them and past and now. Indy and Cade both grew up as MC kids with Cade's grandfather starting the club. Indy came back stuck up and putting the other women down I was glad when Abby told her off. Cade who has never stopped loving her I really liked him a hot sexy biker. Indy spent 12 years running from the heartache that Cade caused her and from the club because of how her father became after her brother died. I also liked the secondary characters in this book. This was my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series as this one left of on a cliffhanger.

I love an MC series and I loved this.

This is the first book in the series and introduces us to the Kings of Mayhem, specifically Cade and Indy. This book drew me in from the first page and I couldn't put it down. I am thankful for the NetGalley gods for approving this one and the second book as I read them back to back.

This book introduces all the characters of the club and you get to see the dynamics between them all. The central plot is the second chance romance between Indy and Cade. As a reader you are routing for them and understand why Indy stayed away for so long. They were destined so she could try to deny it but in the end they had to be together.

The book ends with a death where you know the lives of the Kings of Mayhem will be forever altered - so straight on to book 2 I go!!

Oh the angst!

I picked this book up on a whim. An MC series by an author I’ve never read before just seemed like the right thing to tackle after the stress of thanksgiving prep. And man I’m glad I did. A second chance romance with considering angst, a broken but loving family, and two strong willed but deeply hurting people?! Such a good pairing. While some scenes I feel like could have been stretched some and fleshed out a bit more over all I’m super compelled and have to continue with the series.

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The abs are beautiful and the story was a bit predictable.

Kings of Mayhem was one of those books that I flew through... but didn't really get thrown into it - ya know what I mean? It was good but it also had some boring parts at the same time. It was pretty much an even playing field - so it wasn't that hard to see where things were going to go with everyone in this book.

In it, you will meet Cade and Indy. They have the kind of love that people dream about. Well, until it all goes to shit because Cade ends up sleeping with another girl and Indy runs away. It also doesn't help that he was drugged into that situation.. and kept calling the other girl Indy. Yikes! Then there's Indy, who even though I totally get that she's hurt and hasn't healed from this overall thing, but damn.. she was a c word to some of these people/this town.

Besides that hot mess.. I wasn't really into the flashbacks. I thought they were going to make the overall book a bit more interesting but those were the parts that I was so bored with. Ugh, it hurt me every time I would tap my phone just to see that I was going to be reading a flashback. Didn't matter what age or who it was for, they were all painful.

The ending, yes that was predictable. Sad as it was.. you knew something was fishy and that something was going to go off. Of course that little cliffhanger is going to draw people to dive into the next book. Luckily for me.. I wont be that person. The ending did nothing for me. I mean, I just saw Endgame today.. nothing will faze me now. Nothing.

Overall, I'm happy that I took a chance on this but ugh, not a fan. Wish I was though.

I’m kind of stingy with my 5-star ratings, reserving them for books that I can’t put down, love the characters, writing style and will most likely read again when I’m in a reading slump. It’s especially rare for me to give 5 stars to a new author but this book deserves 5 stars or more. Cade and Indy have been together since they were five years old and were raised in the MC environment, and may I say this author can write the most heart warming and funny scenes about children who form a close bond at such an early age. The story does flip from present to past and normally I don’t care for that too much, but this author did it and did it well. There’re so many secondary characters in the story that I want to see more of.
Cade and Indy have a special, deep kind of love. There’s a 12-year separation, yes because of cheating. However, you must read the story to decide if it was a forgivable offense and the reasons behind it. They were both 18 at the time. They each spend those years of separation in misery, especially Cade, because they are truly soul mates and their love was meant to be. At times Indy did get tiresome with her running and avoidance but Cade never gives up. Yes, he grovels.
I can’t say enough good things about this story. I was totally wrapped up in it and was so dreading thinking I wouldn’t get a happy ending. I am definitely going to read the next book in this series. I liked the way the author set up the next book in the last chapter of this book. Some might say it’s a cliffhanger (I hate them) but it’s really not. Cade and Indy’s story has been resolved but you’re left with an eager desire to read the next book. I highly recommend this book for all of my biker/MC friends as well as regular contemporary romance reasons.

Kings of Mayhem by Penny Dee is book One in the Kings of Mayhem Series. This is the story of Indy and Cade. Indy and Cade were childhood friends that grew into being in love and have planned to go to college together. But Indy caught Cade sleeping with another girl and up and left. Now 12 years later Indy has returned to her home town to help her mom get her father's funeral in order. This leads her back to Cade...both have had other relationships since but neither has really gotten over the other. But can the work things out to have a future? This book does have their ending but it does start to introduce the next book...so there is somewhat of a light cliffhanger.

Cade has loved Indy since elementary school, but when they were 18 he messed up big time and she left. Indy comes home for her dad's funeral and Cade is determined to not let her get away again. I loved all the flashbacks to their past. They get a HEA, and then someone gets shot and a cliffy....

Flashbacks- Flashbacks- Flashbacks

They kill any good book if not done probably. These flashbacks in this book are prime example of what not to do with flashbacks.
They went on for forever! It killed the flow of the book. And in my opinion killed it for this book.

I wanted to see if I was the only one that felt this way. I wasn’t!
I would say other people too felt the flashbacks were overdone in this book.
So... I skipped them! All of them.

Moving on from that. I loved the beginning of this book. It grabbed my attention right away. But as I read on and we find out what happened and why Indy just took off and left.

Cade cheating on Indy was horrible. I have a feeling all those flashbacks are to make you fall in love with Cade and just forgive him for cheating on Indy. But nope. I couldn’t and wouldn’t forgive him. He altered the course of their life’s.
A life they were planning.

And Indy’s mom just keeps talking to Cade like nothing. Knowing how much he broke her daughters heart.

Yeah... this book was hard to read. I love cheating books. But I like for the girl or guy to find someone new. Not go back to the cheater.

I got the last book in this series through NetGalley. So I went crazy and just bought book 1-4. Ughhhh I'm kinda thinking I shouldn’t have done that now. I’m crossing my fingers the second book is better than this one.

I noticed that this book reminds me A LOT of Sons Of Anarchy. It’s doesn’t feel like an original storyline. Hopefully the others books surprise me.

This book ends on a cliffhanger. I’m glad I Don’t have to wait to read the next book.

5** Second Chance Romance Biker Style

After twelve years Indy has come back home for her father’s funeral. She was not the same person who left all those years ago cutting off ties to anything and everyone in Destiny, MS. She had left a lot behind; her friends, her family, the Kings of Mayhem MC and her heart. Cade and Indy had grown up next door to each other and were kids from the MC. They were destined to be together until that one night and a little help from someone from the MC. Her world fell apart and she headed off to college to pursue a career in the medical field. She tried to move on but Cade was always her one and only no matter how hard she tried to forget him. Her father’s funeral was just the thing to bring her back to her old self which was a strong and sassy MC Princess.

I loved this book and the way it was written. It let me see into Cade and Indy’s life as kids as well and the present. Their chemistry was off the charts but it was their hearts that were at stake. The twists and turns in this book were awesome. This is my first time reading this author and I can’t wait to read Brother’s In Arms which is book two in this series. I have found a new MC author I will definitely be one-clicking!!

This was a decent biker romance, a good introduction to this author's work for me as a new Penny Dee reader. I enjoyed it. It was an angsty, steamy second chance romance, an entertaining read overall and it kept me interested. I can't say there's a whole lot about it that sets it apart from every other biker storyline I've read or watched on TV but I liked it enough to keep reading the series. The highlight for me was Cade and again, while not much sets him apart from every other biker I've read, he held my attention and I'm invested enough to keep reading this series. I'm a sucker for a storyline where the character seriously screws up and he definitely does in this book. All in all this was a solid book that I enjoyed.

Kinda MEH.
Don’t know why I didn’t DNF.
SOOOOO boring...

I didn’t mind the flashbacks but I think there were so many it might have been better to have just read story from childhood to present rather than as a series of flashbacks.

The cheating was in the past when they were 18, his daddy drugged him and had a club whore fuck him so h would find them. 12 years later, OW BJ before he reconnects with h...no OW after she gets to town. Oh and my fave trope...lol...not...He took her virginity but he’d been with others...he was afraid she didn’t like him like that but never asked her before fucking girls she knew...whatever, it was too MEH to give a fuck about. And not worth more time to review.

I’m gonna pass on this series.

A great read that kicks off what should be a great new MC series. This author is new to me but I have to say she gained a new fan with this book. It's very well written and I really enjoyed the characters. One note though - if cheating is a trigger for you this book may not be for you. Cade and Indy were teenage sweethearts and lovers until Cade broke Indy's heart. Indy left town and hasn't been back. That was 12 years ago. Now she's returned and Cade is determined to get a second chance. I would definitely recommend this one.

I really liked this at first. Sweet story about coming home and fi nding yourself. Then it dragged and dragged and I really got frustrated with Indy. I wanted to reach through my kindle and slap her. Not to give anything away, but the wasn’t your average I cheated on you I will never forgive you. There was scheming at play and it was alluded to why but it was glossed all over. If you were destined for each other and knew each other so well, this set up shouldn’t have worked.

All the serious plot points were mentioned but not really explained. Then we went from this light hearted MC to total seriousness. The last two chapters jumped the track and totally changed the tone of the whole book. The cause again was mentioned forgotten the brought up in a hurry and chaos reigned. Not sure I will continue the series.

This is the first book of this series and a new to me author. I really enjoyed this book. It's about two people who meet as very, very young children and become best friends....then bf and gf and are planning a life together. Things don't always go to plan.

My review may have spoilers:

I'm hoping some things that happened at the beginning was never brought up again. How about someone who was run off the road... there was a death and someone was told they were getting the empty position but was never talked about again .... hopefully will get answers in the next book

This one was a bit hard to rate, so am giving it 3.5 stars. I will admit that I like the story but when it kept going back into the past of our main characters I got a bit frustrated. Some of what they went through as children was insightful but not all of it. It also seen like our female lead character could not seem to make up her mind. All in all it was a good read and it did keep my interest in it.

I received a free copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Meet the Kings of Mayhem MC!!
This is Cade and Indy's story. They have been in love since they were children. But twelve years ago, something happened and change their future together. And they haven't seen each other. Until now.
I couldn't stop reading this book. And it finishes with a cliffhanger that made me start the next one as fast as I could.
If you are a fan of MC books, this one is a must!!

Well alright! This is my first read of this author. What a way to kick off a fantastic MC series. Cade and Indy's story is a second chance romance set on first love and broken hearts.

The life of the MC is not the place for everyone. After Indy's heart was broken, she left and didn't return for 12 years. But hearts know their match and as much as she tries to fight it, her heart belongs to Cade. I did love that she made him work for it! Lots of time to make up for but they fell back into each other like no time had passed at all.

The MC is caught up in some nasty business but it keeps them afloat. This book ends on a bit of a cliffy but it appears Cade and Indy have resolved their issues for now.

Loved meeting the whole club, loved the world building, loved the heat between Indy and Cade. Great read!!
