The guys of Declan's Defenders continue their quest to uncover the evil murderer of John Halverson and protect the United States. As this is a middle book, it just doesn't pack the wow factor of the earlier books. It is simply a stop on the way to the final battle. With most of the guys paired off, I hope the end comes soon.

Anne Bellamy is a staffer in the White House dealing with the National Security agency. She was shocked and saddened to hear of the death of John Halverson, with whom she had been working to uncover sleeper agents of Trinity within the White House. When he died, she thought all hopes of finding the agents was dead too. Anne was so not secret agent material and preferred to do her job and keep her head down. When she is followed and then attacked, that is no longer an option.

Jack Snow, former Marine Force Recon and a Declan Defender, comes to her rescue ant together they set out to find the sleeper agents in the White House before they can set their plans in motion. Jack is drawn to Anne, but with his history, that is not a good thing.

The Declan’s Defenders series needs surely to be read. The stories are fully developed and they are mainly thrilling. In this book we meet Anne and Jack, two characters who have a lot in common that is they are trying to overcome their struggles and hurt. When Anne is threatened by a terrorist organization and Jack by chance becomes her protector, their lives collide and between dangerous events and threats their bond will become stronger until it will become clear that they are meant for one another. I gave this book a five star because their love has teased my curiosity and I must say that their being so honest made me hope that pure love can still be around the corner. A great read. I’m voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a courtesy copy of the book.

Good book. Charlie Halverson and Declan's Defenders continue their quest to find the person who murdered Charlie's husband, and to shut down the domestic terror organization, Trinity. This book opens with Anne, a DC staffer working for the National Security Advisor, receiving mysterious texts telling her that she is in danger. She was recruited by John Halverson to watch for suspicious activity at the White House, but with his death believed she was no longer needed. When an attempted attack followed the mysterious texts, Anne called the emergency phone number John gave her before his death. That number was answered by Charlie, who sent Jack Snow to the rescue.

Jack is the youngest of Declan's Defenders and, in their Marine unit, was a jack-of-all-trades. On this night, Jack deals with the memories brought about by the anniversary of his high school girlfriend's murder. Her death, followed by the deaths of several other women close to him, has left Jack convinced that he is bad luck for any woman. He's glad to get the call from Charlie, as it pulls him out of his dark memories.

The suspense of this series amps up as Anne receives warning that something big is about to go down. Declan's Defenders are on the case, as they throw all their resources into stopping it before it can happen. It was fascinating to see how they took disparate events and found the threads that tied them together. I loved seeing Jack go undercover at the White House as Anne's assistant (loved the role reversal!) as he both protects her and attempts to ferret out who might be working for Trinity. The tension built as the NSC meeting grew closer, with both the President and Vice-President scheduled to attend. There were multiple twists as the mysterious informant stayed just out of sight, the attacks on Anne continued, and Trinity made their move. I loved seeing Anne keep her head and use her brains to aid in her rescue. The final confrontation was a nail-biter as Jack and the others raced to get to Anne and the VP before it was too late. I can't wait for the next book, and hopefully the discovery and end of Trinity.

I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Jack and Anne. Neither of them believes they are relationship material. Jack thinks he is a death curse for any woman he gets involved with. Since her husband's death, Anne has devoted all of her time and energy to her work. From the moment they met, Anne and Jack were drawn to each other, surprised by the sparks they felt. I liked the way that Jack respected Anne's intelligence and independence, even as his protectiveness wanted to keep her out of the line of fire. I liked how Anne's independence didn't keep her from listening to Jack when it came to her safety. The intensity of their situation amplified the feelings that grew between them. As Anne said to herself: "How many days had it been since she'd first met Jack? It hadn't been many, but it seemed like a lifetime."

Anne Bellamy is a DC staffer who suddenly finds herself in danger due to a previous agreement to spy on government officials. When she is followed home from work, she reaches out to the widow of the man who initially recruited her, and the woman sends Jack Snow to protect Anne. From that point on, Anne finds herself caught up in some sort of political firestorm, with connections to a terrorist organisation called Trinity planning an attack on the White House, and links to some deadly pharmaceutical testing in Syria. Or something.

I read the first book in this mini-series, where not much was revealed about what the terrorists wanted, and it seems that even by book 5, not a lot has changed! What the ultimate goal of the Trinity organisation is remains largely elusive, and in a plot-driven book such as this, that is the sort of information I like to be privy to. Everything here is basically filler until all is presumably revealed in the next book of the series. However, having read more than a few mini-series by Elle James by this stage, I know she doesn't have a particularly good track record of wrapping up the loose ends even by the final book.

The romance is bare-bones. Jack has the usual trope of being afraid to love because all the previous women he's loved in his life have died. Elle James relies on that description I hate: jolts of electricity whenever our h and H touch. Sorry, I just hate that. It's so, so lazy. Even describing the hero as having an erection, or the heroine having a tingle in her lady parts, at the sight of each other, is a better way to do it! Our hero and heroine should only be feeling jolts of electricity if they've been rubbing their feet on the carpet.

Then we have the cast of characters of seemingly thousands. There's all of Jack's ex-marine buddies who are part of his team, and all completely interchangeable, along with most of their other halves, and a butler and a cook, and the benefactor behind it all. Then there about a dozen other characters who work at the White House. You need a scoreboard to keep track of them all! Characters will show up for no other reason than to give a brief run-down of what happened to them in whatever book they happened to appear in.

As usual, Elle James is better than her colleagues in terms of describing action and suspense set-pieces, and the ending is quite exciting. But, as is too frequent with this author, they get lost in a sea of WAY too many characters - most of whom you can't tell apart, set amongst a shaky plot that barely manages to hold together.

The texts she was receiving really bothered her. Since the death of John Halverson she has been trying not to be noticed. With John's death her reports had stopped so she thought she was forgotten. No such luck. According to the text messages TRINITY was aware of her. The messenger was looking for her help. Anne Bellamy, DC staffer for National Security Advisor Shaun Lewis, just wanted to ignore the messages. Then on her way to the DC Metro station after leaving work she thinks she is being followed. It looks like there is no open public place to duck into until she spots an open bar. Thank goodness! Just as she is about to reach out to open the door to the bar a hand grabs her shoulder and starts to jerk her back. Fortunately the bar door opens just then and some men exit. The hand lets go of her shoulder so she runs into the bar. Scared to death she feels her only option is to call the number John Halverson gave her to use in case of an emergency. Pray that someone answers! John's widow Charlie answers and sends one of her Declan's Defenders to get her home safely. But there is no safety there.

Declan's Defender Jack Snow picked Anne up at the bar on his motorcycle, managed to lose the car following them and insisted he escort her to her apartment door. Good thing. What they found inside Anne's apartment was total destruction and a threat painted on her bedroom wall. Looks like Jack Snow and Declan's Defenders have a tough job on their hands.

Tactical Force by Elle James is book #5 in her Declan's Defenders series. This series has consistently been a great action adventure read. Tactical Force is no exception. The suspense is edge-of-your-seat. The characters in Declan's Defenders are hard-nosed, tough guys with tender soft spots for the ladies they fall for. Jack Snow is super protective of Anne Bellamy even when she asserts her independence. Anne is smart and quite brave. I have enjoyed the Defender's tough fight against TRINTY throughout the series. This is a recommended read for romantic suspense fans.

This is the 5th book in this series. I have enjoyed each book, and look forward to reading the last few. The series starts out with Declan being in the right place at the right time to save Charlie Halverson from being kidnapped. She ended up hiring Declan and his friends to protect her. Her husband was murdered, and she wants to know why. Each book has had action, suspense, and romance.
In this book Anne works for the white house. She started getting mysterious text warning her that she was in danger. Before John Halverson died, he gave her his number and told her to call if she was ever in trouble. After work one night, she knew she was being followed. Her only escape was the nearest bar. He caught up to her just as she got there. He walked away, and she went in. She had no choice but to call the number. She had no idea if anyone would answer. Charlie, Jake’s wife answered, and sent Jake Snow to help her out, and give her a ride. The action picked up, and never let up till the end of the book. This was another exciting book. Loved the relationship that built over time between Jake, and Anne. This book had it all, Action, suspense, romance, and a great plot.

4 1/2 STARS!

With the next book in her exciting Declan's Defenders series, Elle James brings us Jack's story in TACTICAL FORCE. It's fast paced, full of suspense and leads us into the heart of the scandal that's been festering in each previous book.

DC staffer Anne Bellamy is an interesting character. She's not as hands on in the midst of knowing everything that's going on as some of the ladies have been earlier in the series, but she's really good at her job and at protecting US secrets. She added a lot to the book.

Former Marine turned Declan's Defender Jack Snow bursts onto the scene in a take charge manner and didn't stop impressing us throughout. Their romance seemed a little fast at first and the ending was a bit abrupt for me without telling us what the future might hold for them, but the action and intrigue was spot on throughout. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone looking for a series of quick reads filled with danger, a close knit group of friends and love when they least expect it.

The Declan Defenders are back to saving another womans life. This time they brought Jack Snow to bring his talent to protect Anne Bellamy's life from Trinty. Anne didn't know who to call so she took out a card that had Mrs. Halverson's phone number on it that was given to her by the late John Halverson and told her if she ever need help to call and tell her he gave this number to her. So she called Mrs. Halverson and explained she needed help she was being followed. Charlie told her to stay there and someone would be there to help her. She did as she was told and waited at the bar with the bartendar. Jack walked in like it was nobody was going to stop him. When he was out one night and got a call to go get a lady at a bar and take her into his protective services. He was on his motorcyle and when he got there they got on the bike and to off through the streets and headed to her house. He took complete control of the situatution and when they got to her apartment something didn't feel right so he went in first and cleared the apartment and came back out to get her and she was upset at the way her apartment looked. She was in shocked didn't know what to think or what to do so he told her what to do and she got her things and headed back to the Halverson Estates. They thought they would have a safe ride back but not. When things where planned to protect Anne she didn't think that she would have Jack Snow with her as an assistant. Things where happening to people that she knew and that where part of John Halverson. But there was a meeting that came that she had to be there and Jack couldn't but the Delcan Defenders where all over the building . Jack and her had become close and Jack didn't like being away from her and not being able to protect her. Well during the meeting with the US President and Vice President things had gone one and Anne and the VP had be kiddnapped by part of the Trinty to bring out one of there ecsape people and they wanted here back. When Delcan Defenders are on a job you are sure that it will end the way they want it too.
So I am going to stop and recommed that you read Elle James Tactical Force book and find out what happend and what in didn't include because if I included everything nobody would buy this book. There is alot of action that is what kept me in very Intrigue with the book! I felt I was right there with them through the whole book. It is a book you can't put down. Elle James is a Fabulous writer that pulls you along with her when she is writing . Please try this book I don't think you will regret it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I really enjoyed this story! It was a fun read. I really enjoyed the characters and the story line. It is a nice intriguing story. It keeps you guessing as to who is good and who is bad, who is involved and who is innocent. Elle James did a really good job with that this time around. We are in the West Wing of the White House dealing with high end political personal and no idea who is on the right side of things. There is plenty of action and a nice blend of romance in this story as well. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next one.

I used to read Harlequin Intrigues when my kids were little. They were mysteries with a touch of romance and I could keep one eye on the kids because the books didn't require much thinking. I thought they might be a good choice for when I am watching my granddaughter. Not so much!! This book was a kittle mystery inserted into porn. I cannot recommend it at all.

Trinity Surfaces

This is my favorite in the series. We learn Jack's story, which is so sad. Anne has had her tragedy as well. She might just have another, and she has To take a chance and seek help by making a call. Help is sent her way in the form of a handsome man on a motorcycle. She's taking a leap of faith. Great story.

I thought that this was a good book. The book was fast paced and there was a lot of action, although some of it was a little far fetched, but it's fiction right!! Anyways this is a book that is part of a series but you don't have to read the other books to know what's going on. I would recommend this book to others.

Trinity is powerful, dangerous, a terrorist group, or mafia group and has infiltrated the US government. Jack gas been sent to rescue Anne after someone IS following her from her NSC job. On the way to Charlie’s someone tries to take out Jack and Anne.
Little bit of mystery, intrigue, kidnapping, explosions, danger, and fate make for an exciting story

By design, Harlequin books are fast paced and short. While it is quite feasible that the actions in this series could happen in just a few days, the romances that have developed between the former marines and the woman they are protecting is a bit too quick for anything but fiction. But Elle James does a marvelous job of developing the characters in a short amount of space in these action packed adventures. I like the CAST OF CHARACTERS section at the beginning of the books and that all of the other characters still play important roles in each book.

Widow Anne Bellamy works for the National Security Adviser in the National Security Council. She had become disgusted by the reality that many of the people that she worked with had less interest in what was best for the nation than in power and furthering their own careers, and was contemplating resigning when she had been approached by John Halverson to help him uncover the operatives of Trinity. But John had been murdered and now a few days before an important NSC meeting, someone texts her that she is in danger. As she walks to the Metro Station, she sees that she is being followed and barely manages to escape into a pub before she is grabbed. She calls the phone number that John had given if she ever needed help. His widow sends Jack Snow, the youngest of Declan's Defenders to pick her up. This was a bad night for Jack as it was the anniversary of the murder of his high school girlfriend, which is what lead him to joining the Marines. He is convinced that he is bad luck for women, because every woman that he has ever loved, beginning with his mother who developed cancer, has died, so is he the best one to protect Anne? Anne lost her beloved husband to cancer, and is also afraid to love again. But Anne has grit and is in danger from Trinity as are the members of the NCS, so all of Declan's Defenders will keep her and the nation safe.

Declan’s Defenders are back in action against the elusive Trinity organization. When a White House NSC worker gets involved in a situation where something bad is going to happen potentially at a NSC meeting, Jack Snow is assigned to protect this worker named Anne Bellamy. This story has all the excitement, intrigue and romance we have come to love with this series. And I love how the ending sets up the characters for the next story.

This book keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire book!! You won't want to put it down.

I adored Anne in this book. One of the huge reasons why was because she was a woman who knew who she was but was willing to go above and beyond. In so many books I have read lately the woman is like Anne who has no real formal fight training all of a sudden is able to take on 4 guys and come out mostly unharmed. In this book, Anne struggles with why she was chosen being she is someone who just sits at a desk. Every time danger arrises, she uses her brain. She also fights back but in a way that would seem likely. It made the character very real for me and I really enjoyed that.

Jack is a member of Declan's Defenders and at first is he is tasked to get her home safely after a scare. Nothing goes according to plan, and these two find themselves working together a lot. Feelings get thrown in and with the danger so high they try and fight the attraction.

This book was both intense and heartwarming at the same time. The natural flow of the relationship between Jack and Anne seemed genuine.

I can't wait to read more in this series.

Ms. Elle James - Tactical Force – (Declan’s Defender Series – Book 5)

The 5th installment of Declan’s Defender series focuses on Jack Snow, the youngest of the former Force Recon Marine and now part of Declan’s Defenders. “Tactical Force” starts out at lighting speed and never lets up until the end.

Anne Bellamy, a mid-level staffer for the National Security Advisor, is attacked twice and reaches out to someone she knows is dead, John Halverson, but hopes his widow might be able to help her before she ends up dead. Charlie Halverson immediately sends help by sending Jack Snow to get her safely to the Halverson estate.
To keep Anne safe, Jack must go undercover as Anne’s new assistant. Jack must keep Anne safe as well as protect the U.S. interests. However, after a bombing, Anne is kidnapped and now Jack and the Defender must find her before her time runs out. Jack is determined to no let that happen. Anne has become someone he is beginning to fall in love with.
A must-read!!

I volunteered to read an Advanced Review Copy of Tactical Force for an honest review.

Jack and Amy meet as she's requested help as she's being followed. It's really a shot in the dark as she does not know who is at the other end of the call that she just dialled. Jack shows up on his motorcycle to the rescue and it takes off from there. Amy is a dedicated White House staffer and Jack is a dishonourably discharged marine. He's part of Declan's Defenders and he's proud of it. There's a clandestine agency trying to create havoc and Amy has become embroiled in it's plot by association.

It's a fast moving story and I had no issues keeping up with the story line and it's twists and turns. I do love Ms. James books they are all worthy of any reader's attention and I look forward to the next book in this series and any other book she writes. She's a one-click author for me.

I received this advanced readers' copy in exchange for an honest review.

A fast paced ride with an intriguing setting and thought provoking situation. This is Jacks story from Declan Defenders. Anne is a staffer at the White House and receives an anonymous text alerting her to something major going down. She is targeted and Jack is assigned to watch her back. She is intelligent which I love! Woman have brains. We get to interact with the other Declan Defenders and there are twists and turns as Trinity raises their ugly heads and shakes things up. Tactical Force is book 5 in the Declan’s Defenders series by Elle James, a standalone book but reading the prior books gives you a better understanding of who Declan Defenders are and what they stand for!

Jack Snow has been tasked with keeping a NSC staff member, Anne Bellamy safe after attacks have been made on her life. It seems there is more to these attacks and there could very well be sleeper terrorists inside the White House wanting to assassinate the POTUS. Now Jack must go undercover to protect Anne, the President, other staff members and find out who and why this is happening and how it relates to John Halverson and TRINITY...

Lots of suspense, action, intrigue, romance and a page turning fast paced book!

Tactical Force by Elle James is the fifth book in the Declan's Defenders series and definitely worth reading if you love romantic suspense.
When Anne Bellamy starts receiving strange text messages from a number she doesn't recognize and someone tries to grab her off the street she calls the number that John Halverson gave her before he died. Come to find out the number is answered by John's widow who sends Jack Snow who is a former Force Recon marine and now works for Declan's Defenders to protect her.
Now they need to find out and stop whoever is trying to assassinate the US President while keeping Anne alive also.
I'm definitely looking forward to reading more books by Elle James in the future.

I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

I really like this series and can't wait to see where it goes. I hope they are able to take down Trinity with the help of some of their ex-members. Jack is asked to help Anne after someone is following her. He knows he has to keep his distance and just protect her, but it become harder as they get to know each other. He feels like he is bad for anyone that he loves. So, he has to keep his feelings to himself. Anne lost her husband to cancer and has had her work for the last several years to keep her sane. She works in the West Wing and keeps herself extremely busy. But, when she finds out she is a target of Trinity, she has to get some help.

Another enjoyable Declan's Defenders book. I found this an interesting story with the plot twists and the intrigue. It turns out that you never know who your co-workers are. I am super curious who the leader of Trinity is ams what their end goal is. I'm hoping the next book will be the finale that ties everything together.

I have enjoyed this series and watching each of the men falling in love with a strong woman. Each woman offers something different to the team. I can't wait to see how CJ will fit in. I'm hoping maybe there will be a book for Charlie once Trinity is taken care of. She deserves to find someone too. Maybe Arnold or Chef Carl.
