What an excellent little book this is! I've gone to seminars and read a few beekeeping books to know just the surface knowledge, but this one had so much new information for such a little book! There was great information about bees in general but also tips for budding beekeepers. A lot of great pictures to illustrate. However, I feel there were some missed opportunities to provide visuals, particularly when speaking on the structure of a hive and building a hive. Otherwise, a nice reference that really emphasizes working as a team with the community.
I know next to nothing about bees, let alone where I'd even begin in being a beekeeper. Charlotte Anderson put together a phenomenal guide on all the know hows of beekeeping, including the important advice of how beekeeping is a little different for everyone so sometimes advice is conflicting. That's huge! And yes, all the information is overwhelming but when starting on any knew adventure and/or learning a new skill, you must soak up everything you can and then give yourself grace as you figure out what works for you.
Good basic introduction. I got lost in understanding terminology used to describe the hive box. Consider adding a diagram in the next edition. I learned enough to realize my location is not going to be conducive to hive survival.
