The classic original story of Second World War vampires, collected alongside the increasingly tendentious series of brand-extension strips which have served mainly to dilute a memorable, distinctive one-off series into 'We've got Hellboy at home'. And I'm not even particularly into actual Hellboy.

I've read some books written by David Bishop called Fiends of Eastern Front & Fiends something Rising Sun. All of them very well connected with this comics.

This is a compilation of three tales. The first one is a tale about two people who find the body of German soldier and they start reading his tale about Germans versus Russians with their rumanians allies. It's rumanians and not Romanians in this timeline. So, basically the German soldiers have their vampires allies and one of them ( our skeleton here) finds out they are vampires but nobody believes. He is afraid of them on when they will turn against the Germans When they turn against the Germans (rumania switch sides in the war) it's a war of survival of rat and mouse...

The second tale is a tale about a German officer who was imprisoned and don't want to return to the fatherland. He is interviewed by some Russians and tells him the tale of vampyrs... Both end in a similar note to be honest

The third is just a short story about all rumania has to offer in terms of war..

All in all very cool, highly advisable.

A really great collection of pulp horror tales. The first story is excellent and the follow-ups remain strong too, reinterpreting the "vampires in wartime" concept in some crazy ways.

It also nicely charts how comics have changed throughout the years, especially the art.
