Goku’s adventure from the best-selling classic manga Dragon Ball continues in this new series written by Akira Toriyama himself!
Ever since Goku became Earth’s greatest hero and gathered the seven Dragon Balls to defeat the evil Boo, his life on Earth has grown a little dull. But new threats loom overhead, and Goku and his friends will have to defend the planet once again in this continuation of Akira Toriyama’s best-selling series, Dragon Ball!
The Great Lord of Lords awakens from inside of Boo to confront the evil Moro head-on. But even the power of a god doesn’t seem to be enough to stop this monster! Goku, Vegeta and the others are forced to retreat. Goku goes with Merus to train to get stronger, but Vegeta has other plans. Hitching a ride on a Galactic Patrol ship, Vegeta goes to another part of space to meet with a certain group of aliens…
Akira Toriyama (鳥山明) was a Japanese manga artist and character designer. He first achieved mainstream recognition for creating the popular manga series Dr. Slump, before going on to create Dragon Ball (his most famous work) and acting as a character designer for several popular video games such as the Dragon Quest series, Chrono Trigger, and Blue Dragon. Toriyama came to be regarded as one of the most important authors in the history of manga with his works highly influential and popular, particularly Dragon Ball, which many manga artists cite as a source of inspiration. He earned the 1981 Shogakukan Manga Award for best shōnen/shōjo manga with Dr. Slump, and it went on to sell over 35 million copies in Japan. It was adapted into a successful anime series, with a second anime created in 1997, 13 years after the manga ended. His next series, Dragon Ball, would become one of the most popular and successful manga in the world. Having sold 260 million copies worldwide, it is one of the best-selling manga series of all time and is considered a key work in increasing manga circulation to its peak in the mid-1980s and mid-1990s. Overseas, Dragon Ball's anime adaptations have been more successful than the manga and are credited with boosting anime's popularity in the Western world. In 2019, Toriyama was decorated a Chevalier of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres for his contributions to the arts. In October 2024, Toriyama was inducted into the Harvey Awards Hall of Fame.
I am rereading this arc and I just love how fun it is and fast paced and its kinda like the part where the villain is triumphing and our heroes have to regroup and train and get the power levels up and all and its pretty common in Dragon ball and I just love it, the pace is great and the villain is actually quite interesting and then different planets and all make it exciting, Vegeta travelling to Yardarat will make for an interesting story and will make him level up with Goku for sure and then you have Goku and merus and their training and knowing what comes next, it will be exciting to read and yeah next up we finally get a focus on rest of the earth warriors! __________________________________________________________________
This one was cool, we pick up with another battle between Goku and Vegeta and Moro, and he is absorbing their energy and he somehow freed the convicts and gave them his power and now they have to deal with that, meanwhile Moro absorbs the soul of the Namekians and more stuff happens where they also get trapped and have to escape and they each go to their own training, while Goku trains with Merus to learn Ultra Instinct, Vegeta is on Planet Yardrat for Spirit Control and Earth will be invaded next. The pace is picking up as the threat of Moro is increasing and it will be a big battle between them all! The art was good and its a slow burn for sure as we have yet to see Moro's full power!
EN Moro has proven to be a truly powerful opponent. That said, he’s not winning me over in terms of charisma — I’d even say he’s one of the weakest villains this series has ever produced.
The fulfilment of Moro’s third wish has given the story a fresh spark, making this arc much more engaging. As usual, our heroes are looking for ways to grow stronger and overcome this new threat.
It seems that Piccolo might finally play a more prominent role in this saga, and I really like that — he’s an excellent character who has, unfortunately, been pushed into the background for far too long.
--
Another very interim volume where nothing really happens. Fights are had, bad guys escape, and the only relatively sensible thing our protagonists do is to get some more training. Vegeta goes to Yardrat, which is pretty cool and shows at least a bit of growth on his part, and Elder Pybara is absolutely charming. Goku trains with Meerus, trying to recapture the elusive magic of Ultra Instinct, and these scenes are enjoyable, bringing back fond memories of DBZ. But Moro and his gang of halfwits is just incredibly booooooooring. No tension, no real stakes. This plot arc seems to have stagnated before it really started. I'm glad to see Piccolo and Dende again, though! More Piccolo, ya'll!
I’d say this has to be the most heartbreaking of any of the arcs/volumes so far, but mostly do just to the cruel power and evil of Moro literally eating entire planets and its inhabitants for energy like what that’s straight up old frieza level mean. I’m not gonna go and blame the wishing dragon, but I think they say for first timers they only have to give one wish in which this who’ll catastrophe could’ve been avoided.
The fight against Moro continues on as our dynamic Saiyan duo finds an opportunity to train individual skills that could allow them to sharpen their skill set.
As countless planets suffer at the hands of Moro, their home is now at risk of being his next target. Time is of the essence as the fruit of their training will be unveiled in the following arc.
Another basic Volume from DB Super, but this one actually promising something much better soon. Highlights: - Moro continues across the galaxy after defeating Buu (and theGreat Lord of Lords inside him) and reveals his third wish to Goku and Vegeta. He wished for all the criminals in the Galactic Prison to be set free. This gives him an army of lackeys to scout planets of energy for him. - One of those groups ends up on Earth. Initially encountering Piccolo, who is WAY more powerful than them, he almost lets them leave due to weakness. Jaco had called Bulma to see if Piccolo would be willing to join up with the Galactic Patrol, and once the warning about scouts is shared, Piccolo takes their ship down, but not before sounding the alarm. Moro is sending stronger troops to check out Earth. - Goku and Vegeta separate, both pursuing different training methods to get stronger so they can stand a chance against Moro. Goku begins training with Merus, an elite Galactic Patrol officer, who Goku suspects has immense power. They go to a Hyperbolic Time Chamber and begin to train, Goku wanting to master Ultra Instinct. Vegeta goes to Yardrat, the planet where Goku learned Instant Transmission, to see if they knew any tricks he could learn to help fight Moro. He is told that all of their techniques (instant transmission, self splitting, and self-enlargement) come from a mastery of one's own Spirit. Vegeta begins his training.
Excited to see where this leads. Hoping we get to see a stronger Vegeta soon. Recommend.
Our two heroes, Vegeta and Goku, have always fought villains more or less in the same fashion as each other would. This volume pushes our protagonists in a direction that splits them up. Vegeta realizes there is no single path to strength and that he and Goku are currently training incorrectly.
He says to himself that growth requires self-awareness and adaptation. No one can grow in the same way as their peers, at least not entirely. We are starting to see Vegeta realize the errors of his past training and learn to accept that he needs to adapt in ways he is not comfortable with.
I am not impressed to filler volumes in a row. There is a few fight in between I guess to stop the story being completely dull. It only hit interesting on issue 52.
I think Vegeta summed up the issues for me with the line "how many time are we going to fall for the same trick". Now both of them are trying their own path to victory. With different masters.
If the next volume is not a training issue all the way through I a expecting firework. After 2 full volumes I figured it is owed.
Meh. This isn't so much plot progression as it is just more filler/set up. Moro is boring. Vegeta has an idea to learn new "magic" techniques and Goku finds a new partner to train with while Moro eats planets and their energy. That's it.
The Moro cycle really takes off with his third wish, releasing galactic prisoners. Vegeta starts on his training Interlude. It was really hard for the creators to keep increasing the power level of enemies, and still have the heroes keep up, but Moro has some quirks of character and powers that make it work.
The Moro arc has kept me on my toes since the beginning and this volume continues the trend. From more fun fights and the Great Lord of Lords doing his best to Vegeta's Yardrat training every page was entertaining. I've long known about and looked forward to the Yardrat training however I did not expect it to have the charm that it does. Overall a nice volume with tons of setup. The only thing I can think of as a real negative is that Jaco's cockiness is getting a bit annoying.
Pretty solid volume, mostly building the arc up. Interesting to see what vegeta will do on yardrat and was great to see piccolo in action, I’m happy that they are considering invoking other Z warriors and not just Goku and Vegeta. This volume leaves me excited to see what will happen on the next one

Let me say first that I really - I mean REALLY hated the whole Tournament of Power thing in the anime. But I heard the manga continued and obviously, I was curious. And man, the Moro arc feels like fresh air! One of the best DB storylines ever.
Another ok volume, with some story building. It's a lot of setup for the big fight, but there isn't anything that bad with it, just not anything that great neither.
9/10 Moro faces off with the lord of lords in space while goku and Vegeta heal up a bit. Lord of lords realizes he lost his sealing god power when buu divided into good and evil buu, and evil buu had the god power in him; that’s why he was so strong. At the galactic patrol prison they are hit with something and all power goes out. All the prisoners are free, turns out that was Moro’s third wish. He promised the prisoners more power if they worked for him. When arriving to morro’s side, he enhanced all the prisoners powers and made them much stronger. Not close to goku and vegeta though, as they were fighting all of them off Moro drained them of their power again. This is when they all decide to escape. Vegeta escaped to planet Yardat because he believes this is a home to many hidden techniques, this is where goku learned instant transmission. And goku started training with galactic patrol agent; Merus. Turns out Merus knows about untra instinct and he’s much stronger than he shows. Vegeta was onto Merus and him concealing his strength from the get go. Merus takes goku to a foo foo hyperbolic time chamber. This one only has 3 days within one real day. The one one earth is a whole year within one real day. Furthermore in this story, Earth is being attack by ex galactic patrol prisoners and they intend to call Moro to eat the planet after they take Earths riches. All the while, Jaco wants to recruit earths strongest warriors to assist the galactic patrol during this time of need to keep the galaxy safe. Piccolo encounters the escaped prisoners and beats them up but let’s them go, until bulma and Jaco inform piccolo they work for Moro, then piccolo pursues them once again when it is revealed that Moro was contacted and is on his way. OHHHH SHIETTTTTT

Moro is absorbing the life energy of Planet Namek from the space. Lord of Lords fight Moro but he was unable to perform the seal. His god power was disappeared since Buu was split into good and evil. The evil Buu possessed the god power was destroyed by Goku before. Merus arrived to assist and Lord of Lords teleport back Moro to Planet Namek. Goku and Vegeta ready to fight Moro again. Moro revealed his third wish which is all prisoners in Galactic Prison were freed. Now, all the prisoners have arrived in Planet Namek. Moro shared his power with all the prisoners. He then starts to absorb the life energy from Planet Namek. Lord of Lords, Esca, Merus, Jaco and Goku retreat to the Galactic Patrol HQ while Vegeta hijack the Galactic Patrol ship to go to Planet Yardrat.
Moro have completely absorbed all energy from Planet Namek. They move to another planet. The prisoners divided into several scouting team to scout a planet with good life energy. After they loot the treasure, Moro will absorb the energy. The Macareni Gang went back to Planet Jung to steal the blue aurum. Next, they will head to Earth as there is more valuable resources than blue aurum. The Galactic Patrol is shorthanded of manpower. They wants to recruit Piccolo. The Macareni Gang arrives at Earth. Piccolo managed to stall them but they managed to send emergency message to Moro. Moro send a stronger scouting squad to Earth.
The Yadratian mastered spirit control. By spirit control, someone can do instant teleportation, make copies of themselves and control the size of their body. Merus is capable of fighting with instinct and he knows about Ultra Instinct. Goku train with Merus in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
Vegeta to siła. I to chyba najwięcej mówi o sile i zagrożeniu jakie prezentuje Moro.
Toyotarou has the chance to flesh out this new story arc, but the monthly release schedule is still haunting him, so this volume tries to blaze through story while throwing in a few fights against trash mobs to continue hyping Moro.
Moro continues to eat New Namek's energy while the Daikaioshin Boo battles him. Because of what Toyotarou feels he needs to do with pacing, DaikaioBoo doesn't really get to do anything cool here. The only important thing is that the Daikaioshin's God Ki was split off into the evil Boo when he shit out Fat Boo during the final battle of the original Dragon Ball manga, and so is probably within young Oob right now, but he isn't mentioned here, nor is there really any reason to believe he'll ever factor in too much in the future. Anyway, Moro reveals his third wish on the Namek Dragon Balls: the freedom of everyone incarcerated in the Galactic Prison. Moro's henchman Saganbo hires everyone else so they can scout planets for Moro to eat. The first get together on New Namek, where they jump Goku and Vegeta, who are steadily weakened by Moro's SUCC (and we get another stupid "SSG powering down to SS3" moment!). Merus suggests they retreat, recover, and regroup, so they do... except Vegeta goes off on his own to learn a new technique on Planet Yardrat. This strange new idea of Vegeta's reflects his idea at the end of the Boo Arc to do the Super Genki-Dama, an nth hour decision to do something besidesbrute force. (As it turns out, Instantaneous Movement and every other Yardrat technique are practices of "Spirit Control," which every Yardrat can do, implying Goku tapped out of learning more than just IM.) Meanwhile, Goku asks Merus to train him, suspecting Merus has an enormous power he's hiding, and it's revealed Merus understands the basis of Ultra Instinct far better than Goku. So both Saiyans begin training. Oh, and Moro's people set course to attack Earth, with Jaco trying to get Piccolo, Gohan, Kuririn, and Tenshinhan to defend.
If there's any particular reason why I rate this volume lower than others, it's mostly because I finished re-reading the original manga recently, and was reminded how briskly Toriyama paced his stories. Before Moro, Toyo's manga moved way too fast, to catch up with Toei's anime. Now that Toyo doesn't have such a burden, it feels like he's moving too slow. Toriyama would have thirteen or fourteen chapters a volume, each being thirteen or fourteen pages long. In Volume 42, the last one, the story contains the fight between Vegetto and Boohan, Goku and Vegeta flying around the inside of Boo's body, SS3 versus Pure Boo, the Super Genki-Dama, and a couple chapters setting up a new Tenkaichi Budokai after a ten-year timeskip. A lot of shit happens! Here, Toyo has four chapters, each roughly fifty pages. Essentially the same number of pages, give or take. But it feels like not much happens. This is weird, as other monthly series feel like the longer chapters allow better writing (Fullmetal Alchemist, JoJo 7 & 8, Shingeki no Kyojin if you're into that). Toyo was really good with the Zamasu stuff, and after the ToP narrowed down to Jiren versus Universe 7 (having Kale remove the vast majority of fighters was still lazy as hell). He could probably make this part of the arc better, but right now it feels like a drawn-out version of the "we have to prevent Cell from absorbing the Artificial Humans while also pushing beyond Super Saiyan" section of DB. Which is a good bit of the manga to be sure, but which maybe doesn't need to be ripped off....
****
*whimsical cover feels more like what Toriyama would have done for a chapter cover than a volume cover **Bulma's legs, thighs, arms, and boobies please me, as does the purple blended in her hair *Bardock looks cool on the internal volume title page *for some reason, it feels obnoxious seeing that front spike in Goku's SS1/SSB hair, like Toyo is trying too hard to show which form he's on, versus SS2. Having read Cell and Boo Arcs in the past couple weeks, Toriyama made Super Saiyan look more organic panel-by-panel, page-by-page *Moro baiting a ki blast by DaikaioBoo was neat, in a manner reminiscent of No. 19, who I feel was underutilized in Toriyama's original manga *Monster Carrot in the omake page after Chapter 49 *one of the prisoners looks like Pure Boo, or possibly the announcer from the U6/U7 Tournament Arc *in what appears to be the main crew of Moro's prisoner henchmen, we get another Magetta guy, as well as what looks like a Zarbon. There are also three cute girls, one of whom looks like human No. 21 crossed with Junko from Danganronpa, while another has some Majin 21 clothes *Goku grabbing the two dudes' legs and slamming the third guy *Goku fucking powering down from SSG to SS3, as if the transformation levels are linear, BUT Vegeta goes from SSG to base. I suppose I could cope by saying Goku's used to mastered SS1, so maybe it's easy for him to unconsciously shift to SS3 when God Ki wears off (I believe I've said this before for a previous volume), whereas I don't think Vegeta ever actually "completed" SS1 (never mind never learning SS3 anyway), so maybe he doesn't naturally flip through forms? It's still stupid of Toyotarou to do this, making SSG the new SS4 and SSB like an SS5. *Galactic Patrol laser guns are more effective at stunning bad guys than unpowered Saiyans, which is consistent with Fukkatsu no F kinda *Moro has aged down enough that he's lost his facial hair by Chapter 51 *the smaller ships from Saganbo's ship look like the Clone carriers in Star Wars *Jaco: "Let me guess, you think I've been wearing pants this whole time?" *Saganbo and co. attacking Puipui's race *Merus spinning Goku's arm, and Goku whirling into SS3 (then powering up to SSG...) *Toyo getting lazy with SS3 sparks, with which Toriyama was always consistent *both Yardrat designs, from anime filler and Dragon Ball Online *I can't remember if Piccolo always has five-digit hands in this manga, but I'm quite certain Toriyama always gave him four digits *I don't remember if I said last volume, but I wouldn't mind putting my pene in Penne!

EDIT (09/19/2025): How many series did I stop (re-)reading in August or September of 2024?! God damn!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The Moro arc continues. Buu / the Great Lord of Lords, Goku and Vegeta follow Moro; he's absorbing the remaining power of Namek in outer space. It's the Lord of Lords who takes on Moro, but in the end he is no match for Moro and Merus intervenes. They succeed in getting Moro back to the planet. Moro reveals his third wish and is supported by the freed Galactic prisoners. Those escaped prisoners aren't a real threat to the DB heroes, ... until Moro starts to use his special ability again. In the end they all need to flee. Goku and Vegeta separate, both pursuing different training paths to get stronger. Both of these paths are explored more afterwards but they currently don't add much to the overall story.
At this point we also get multiple viewpoints from several escaped Galactic prisoners; they are mostly going from one planet to the next to identify planets that are interesting targets to be absorbed by Moro. One of those teams goes to Earth and comes up against Piccolo.
Conclusion: This one starts pretty good, but after some time slows down a bit in the second half. Overall still a decent addition, but with more filler then the previous one Rating: 3,5/5
I like if nothing else Moro shows that you can't just win on brute strength. So both Vegeta and Goku split apart. No more training together. It's now time for both to learn new ways to fight. This leads to what feels like a lot of build up or set up for the next part of the series. Luckily, it looks like the Z warriors will get to shine as the baddies are heading to earth. Leaving the faith of earth up to Gohan, Picollo, and the others.
Overall, a solid volume but not mindblowing. I like the set up though and art remains solid. Let's see where we go next.
The Lord of Lords awakens...from inside Boo!!! I know, did not see that coming! Now its an all-out battle of Boo versus Moro. Moro's 3 wishes are granted and this volume we discover what his third wish really is!!! That third wish is the main catalyst of all that occurs in this volume, so I find it better to let you simply enjoy it as it all unfolds. I know that different characters have different skills but I don't know why but I was highly disappointed by how strong and agile Merus turned out to be in this volume. I felt like Piccolo's moments in this book brought me special joy and smiles. Another solid volume!
A ver cómo sigue.
2.5 Stars. Entertaining enough but the volumes just don’t hit like dragon ball and dragon ball z used to. I think that is partly because the side characters aren’t as interesting. The whole multiverse got a little convoluted during the Goku Black Saga so taking a break from that was a good idea. Merus has grown on me but it all just doesn’t seem as epic as it once did.
