Award-winning bloggers and instagrammers Reena Simon and Rebecca Lawson are renowned for their love affair with all things Scandi. In their first book, Scandi Rustic Style , they reveal how to create a home that takes elements of Scandinavian design and introduces rustic natural materials and textures to create a Scandi-inspired interior that is cozy, relaxed, and inviting. Come with Rebecca and Reena on a journey that takes in the very best in Scandi Rustic homes. Whether you live in an urban apartment, a country cottage, or a blank-canvas new-build, this relaxed, sustainable, modern rustic style will work perfectly for your home.
I rarely read design books for anything except their pictures, but I found the prose in this one to be practical and approachable. I learned about several design elements that I want to incorporate into my own home and can’t wait to get started!
I was initially intrigued by this book cause of the photography, but found it really helpful in terms of the design tips they give you, from colours to textures to lighting as I’m currently doing up my place. As I was reading it I got a Grand Designs vibe from the writing in regard to how they explain how the house was built and designs (I’m a fan the show) and was pleasantly surprised to see that one of the authors writes for GD magazine. Beautiful photos, easy read, and I personally enjoy the details they like about each house and why it fits the scandi rustic theme. There’s a lot you can take away to suit your own budget even though what is shown may seem expensive or intimidating since a lot of the places are designer’s places.
This book was a collaboration between her and Lawson to document beautifully built and decorated Scandinavian-inspired homes. The photography is lovely and the houses they showcase are gorgeous. My only complaint is there are occasionally features in the write-ups of the houses that don’t appear in any of the photographs. If you’re a fan of Scandinavian design, you’ll love this book.
Beautifully photographed book. Easy on the eye, peaceful, natural interiors. Very inspirational and one I will return to. Love that not all the interiors were minimalist but all reflected personalities and needs of the homeowners.
I was drawn to this book because of the pictures, and they’re beautiful. The insights were nice to read, though, and have me contemplating my own home. I do feel the book would’ve benefitted from a good editor - I feel at parts it was poorly written.
Like that it has lots of photos and both short and long background info. Loved the presentation of different textures, combination of pink and white color, and linen bedding. Don’t like that many photos are actually repetitive.
