About the author

Vasudhendra (ವಸುಧೇಂದ್ರ) was born at Sandur in Ballari district, Karnataka. After working as a software professional for more than twenty years, Vasudhendra now runs his own publication house, Chanda Pustaka, which publishes and encourages new writing in Kannada and has instituted the Chanda Pustaka Award which recognizes young short story writers. He is also associated with local support groups for LGBT individuals. The author of thirteen books in Kannada, that have sold over 80,000 copies, Vasudhendra has won many literary awards, including the Kannada Sahitya Academy Book Prize, the Da Raa Bendre Story Award and the Dr U.R. Ananthamurthy Award.

ಒಂದು ಕಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವದ ಒಂದು ಪಾತ್ರ ಇತ್ತು. ಹುಲಿಗೆ ಕಾಡೇ ರಕ್ಷೆ, ಕಾಡಿಗೆ ಹುಲಿಯೇ ರಕ್ಷೆ. ಕಥಾ ನಾಯಕನ ತರಹ ನನಗೂ ಜಗಳ ಮಾಡೋಕೆ ಬರೋಲ್ಲ. ಯಾರಾದ್ರೂ ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಸುಳ್ಳನ್ನೇ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಸಲ ಹೇಳಿದ್ರು ಸುಳ್ಳಂತ ಗೊತ್ತಿದ್ರು ಸತ್ಯ ಅಂತ ಒಪ್ಕೋತೀನಿ....ಯಾಕಂದ್ರೆ ಜಗಳ ಮಾಡೋಕೆ ಬರೋಲ್ಲ :)

ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೂ ಚಿಲ್ಲರೆ ಕತೆಗಳು. ಕೆಲವೊಂದು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿವೆ, ಕೆಲವೊಂದು ಸುಮಾರು.
ಪಾರ್ಥೇನಿಯಂ ಕತೆ(ಳೆ) ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಇಷ್ಟವಾಯಿತು.
ಕತೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೊಂಚ ಆಕರ್ಷಕವಾದ ಹೆಸರುಗಳನ್ನಿಡ್ರಿ ವಸುಧೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ~ 😜

ಓದೋಕೆ ಸರಳ ಬರವಣಿಗೆ ಅನಿಸಿದರೂ ಬರೆಯೋಕೆ ಹೋದಾಗ ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆವರು ಬರುತ್ತೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಅಷ್ಟು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕತೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಅನ್ನೋದು. ಸರಳ ಅನಿಸಿದರೂ ಗಾಢವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಭಾವ ಬೀರುವ ಕತೆಗಳು, ಅವುಗಳ ಪಾತ್ರಗಳು. ವಾಸ್ತವದ ಕನ್ನಡಿಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲಿಯ ಕತೆಯ ವಸ್ತುವೇನೋ ಅನಿಸುವ ಹಾಗಿನ ಕತೆಗಳು. ನಗಿಸ್ತವೆ, ಯೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿಸ್ತವೆ. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕತೆಗಳು ಒಂದೊಂದು ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶೇಷವೆ. ಕತೆಗಳ ವೇಗವು ಹಾಗೆ ಹಿಡಿದಿದ್ದನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸೋಕೆ ಬಿಡಲ್ಲ. ಮನಸಿಗೆ ಮುದ ನೀಡುವ ಕತೆಗಳೊಳಗೊಂಡ Feel good ಕೃತಿಯಿದು.

ನೀವು IT industry ಅಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ?? ಹಾಗಾದ್ರೆ ಈ ಸಣ್ಣ ಕಥೆಗಳ ಸಂಗ್ರಹ ನಿಮಗೆ ಬಹಳ ಇಷ್ಟ ಆಗುತ್ತೆ. ನಾನು pre y2k period ಅಲ್ಲಿ IT industry join ಆದೆ. ಅದೇ ಕಾಲದ ಕಥೆಗಳಾದ ಇವು ನನಗೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಹಿದಿಸ್ತು ... ಯುಗಾದಿ ಕಥೆ ಅಂತೂ ಮನ ಮುಟ್ಟಿತು ...

ಯುಗಾದಿ 24 ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಒಳಗೊಂಡ ಒಂದು ಕಥಾ ಸಂಕಲನ. ಒಂದೊಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಥೆಗಳಿದ್ದರೆ ಕೆಲವು ಒಂದು ಪುಟದಷ್ಟು ಸಣ್ಣ ಕಥೆಗಳಿವೆ. ಕಿರಿಯರ ಹಿರಿಯರ ನಡುವಿನ ಸಾಮರಸ್ಯ ಸಾರುತ್ತಾ ಸಾಗುವ ಕಥೆಗಳಿವೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಇಲ್ಲೇ ಎಲ್ಲೋ ನಮ್ಮ ನಡುವೆಯೇ ಇರುವ, ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಅನೇಕ ಘಟನೆಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕಥೆಗಳಾಗಿವೆ. ನಂಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಹಿಡಿಸಿದ ಕಥೆ ಒಂದು ಯುಗಾದಿ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಹುಲಿಗೆ ಕಾಡೆ ರಕ್ಷೆ, ಕಾಡಿಗೆ ಹುಲಿಯೇ ರಕ್ಷೆ.

ಒಂದಷ್ಟು ಉತ್ತಮ ಕಥೆಗಳು,ಒಂದಷ್ಟು ಸಮತೋಲನ ಕಾಪಡಿಕೊಂಡ ಕಥೆಗಳು.ಮತ್ತೊಂದಷ್ಟು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಕಥೆಗಳೊ? ಇಲ್ಲ ಅವು ಯಾವ catagory ಗೆ ಸೆರುತ್ತವೋ ? ಅಷ್ಟೇನು ಹಿಡಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಒಂದು ಕಥೆ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ನನದೊಂದು ತರ್ಕ ಇದೆ "ಮೋಹನ ತಲೆ ಮಾರಿನಿಂದ ಬಂದ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮನೆ,ಬಾವಿ,ತೆಂಗಿನ ಮರಗಳು,10 ಮನೆ ಕಟ್ಟುವ ಜಾಗವನ್ನು 1.5 ಲಕ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಂಡತಿ,ತಾಯಿ ಕೂಗಾಡಿದರು ಮಾರುತ್ತಾನೆ.ಹಾಗೆ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ಬಸ್ಸತ್ತಿ 60 ಸಾವಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದು ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್ ಕೋರ್ಸ್ ಕಲಿಯುತ್ತಾನೆ.ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಲೇಖಕರು ಅವನ ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಕರಗುತ್ತ ಇದೆ ಎನ್ನುವ ಭಾವವನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರ ಅದು ಒಂದು outdated ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್ ಕೋರ್ಸಿಯಿಂದ"ಇದು ಯಾಕೋ ಸೂಕ್ತ ಅನಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.ನಾನು ಒಬ್ಬ Engineer ಆಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಯಾಕೋ ಒಪ್ಪಲು ತಯಾರಿಲ್ಲ.
"ಹುಲಿಗೆ ಕಾಡೇ ರಕ್ಷೆ,ಕಾಡಿಗೆ ಹುಲಿಯೆ ರಕ್ಷೆ" ನಾನು ಇತ್ತೀಚಿಗೆ ಓದಿದ ಒಂದು ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಕಥೆ,"ನಮ್ಮ ನಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ",ಹೆಡ್ ಹಂಟರ್,ಯುಗಾದಿ ಹಿಡಿಸಿದ ಕಥೆಗಳು."ಬೇರೆನಿಲ್ಲ ಒಂಚೂರು ಪ್ರೀತಿ" ಕಥೆಯ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮತೆ ತುಂಬ ಹಿಡಿಸಿತು.

My fourth Book of Vasudhendra (ವಸುಧೇಂದ್ರ).

Reading Vasudhendra (ವಸುಧೇಂದ್ರ) is a pure bliss. plain narrative, simple story line, Characters of his Books have their own self and the way Vasudhendra gives an emotional touch to the stories with little or no morality sometimes is impeccable.

In this Book also he continues to write amazing stories. I liked the one "ಹುಲಿಗೆ ಕಾಡೇ ರಕ್ಷೇ, ಕಾಡಿಗೆ ಹುಲಿಯೇ ರಕ್ಷೆ" - Was heart-rending.

What makes this Book strikingly interesting is; There are small one page stories after each big story and it feels so good to move from one-on-one.
