"Grafton's greatest skill may be the way she melds disparate, unwieldy, often difficult subjects into a cohesive whole that satisfies both entertainment and art..." X was no different. thoroughly enjoyed this book. Sue is at the top of her game.
Man I tried to get into this book but it was just so boring. I got more than halfway through and just kept thinking “get to the point already!” It reminded me of the Stephanie Plum series, which I also couldn’t get into. Maybe it would have been different starting from the first book in the series? Not the worst book I’ve read this year but not sad I pulled the plug.
I didn't read this until after I finished the novel because I didn't know it existed. Now that I am aware of them, I will definitely read them as I read the novels. The sidekick was very interesting and I can see how it will enhance my reading experience. It pointed out little things that escaped my attention but we're important to the plot. I was gratified to read about the incidents I noticed as I read the novel that turned out to be significant. I look forward to future reads.
I found this to be too long. too many characters and too many unnecessary details. Also, I listen to my books and the reader sets the tone. I was not pleased. I am sorry to say I would not recommend this book. I would like to know what others thought. This is however my first book written by Se Grafton, I would try another.
