I was super excited that Sam had a new series in the works. And, let me tell you, the blurb does not do this story justice. These characters are completely unexpected, and just when you think you have one figured out, they surprise you at every turn and with every action.
Redemption is not your typical bad boy or single father romance in any way. You have to go in with eyes wide open and take in all that is this book with an open mind and heart, which makes it a fabulous read.

I never wanted to characters to find their happily ever after more than I wanted Shawn and Tara to find theirs!
I am the type to always cheer on the underdog and hope they come out on the winning side. That is what I felt while reading Shawn and Tara’s story. They both had a past that wasn’t pretty so moving on from that past was always the challenge.
Everyone deserves a second chance and Shawn’s came in the form of a small baby girl named Grace who opened up his heart and turned his world upside down and he certainly didn’t expect Tara to show up on his doorstep. She may have been there for the best interest of Grace but the pull they had towards each other couldn’t be denied.
Redemption can come in many forms but for Shawn it is all about second chances and finding a way to have a future that is better than his past and he is doing this by protecting those he loves and making a difference in their lives.
Hang on because their story isn’t over. How much will you sacrifice for the ones you love? We will have to wait to find out!

I love this author’s writing and she writes light pieces with hot and steamy scenes to gritty and suspenseful stories. This is the grittiest book I have read by her. Mack has served his time and is determined to turn his life around and he is faced with the biggest and hardest challenge of his life- daddy. He is a hardened criminal that has his infant daughter dropped off on his doorstep. In comes Tara who is Grace’s social worker with her own demons to fight in the form of her ex-husband. Tara helps Shawn navigate fatherhood and while she is doing that they fall for each other. Will Tara go against her boss and her ex-husband to be with Shawn? Will Mack help Tara fight her demons? What will happen to little Grace? I couldn’t put this book down, it kept me glued to my kindle. I can’t wait for the next installment of the series!!

This book didn't flow .. it stuttered!
And I'm honestly confused with most story lines because non of them was explained or finished probably!

Sweet, erotic and heart warming with a touch of violence; I loved it.
I’m a huge fan of this author and the variety of her characters and genres so when I saw she was writing a bad boy single dad story I couldn’t wait to read it.
Shawn Mackenzie has done the crime and the time and now he’s determined to go straight. When a woman turns up at his trailer door with a new born, he’s faced with the biggest challenge of his life, being a daddy.
Tara Ramsey is a social worker and her latest case will be her biggest challenge yet as she comes face to face with the sexy, tattooed new dad Mack. Her boss wants her to declare him unfit so the grandparents can have custody of the baby but when she sees Grace in his big strong arms, Tara is determined to help him to be the dad he wants to be.
As Mack and Tara spend more time together their feelings evolve from friendship and lust to something much deeper but traumas from their past won’t allow them to fully embrace how they feel. When the woman he loves and the daughter he adores are in danger, Mack will do whatever it takes to save them but will he be too late?
I loved this story. It was sweet, funny, erotic and heart-warming with a touch of violence; all my favourite things. One hot summer afternoon, Misty, a girl he had a one night stand with, turns up at his door in the rundown trailer park where he lives. With Misty is an infant and a birth certificate naming Shawn as the father. Everyone deserves a second chance at life. Shawn's send chance came in the form of a daughter, Grace. His one night fling with the stripper resulted in this sweet baby. Can you imagine this gruff, ex-con with a baby? well his friend Jake didn't so he took pictures. Shawn spent a crap ton of money on everything for his daughter, even trading in his most prized possession. In trying to figure out how to tackle fatherhood, Shawn meets Tara. Tara is the social worker for Grace. Tara has her own demons to fight for a second chance. Hers is the ex husband, who is a bully on the police dept. Tara helps Shawn navigate fatherhood and how to keep his daughter. As they spend more time together, they can't seem to deny the attraction. What happens when the ex husband bully finds out? Guess you'll have to read to find out.
This book had me laughing as some parts like the whole vegan thing! And I was mad and upset as well on what happened to Tara/

Things aren't always as they appear, nor are people. Both Shawn and Tara would surprise you if you judged their books by their covers. The past plays a part for both of them, both differently, but nonetheless it molded them into who they are.
I read this in one sitting. The characters pull you in and you want to find out how their story plays out. Apprehension, anxiety, uncertainty, spark, spunk and unlikely allies fill their story. There's a raw truth between them, in and out of the bedroom. When things seems too good to be true, something always happens to tear it apart, even when it's self inflicted. What would you sacrifice for the ones you love?

Have you judged someone by their past or how they look. This story goes to show you cant judge someone by what they did in the past. This is Shawn's story. Shawn wants to become a better man for his daughter Grace. Grace turned his world upside down and made him want to be and do better. Enter Tara who showed up in the best interest of Grace. But Shawn and Tara had a pull and intensity that neither could deny. If you want to know what happens I suggest you get this book. Camt wait to see what Sam rights next.

This is the 1st book in a new series, and what an amazing introduction this story is! Shawn is an ex-con who has done his time, and when a newborn baby girl is left on his doorstep, he is determined to be a better man. Tara is a social worker who is assigned the Shawn’s case. The chemistry between these two is explosive. This is a well written flawless story which is raw, gritty, intense, emotional, and with suspense and love, which all had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner. I highly recommend this story for all.

Shawn wasn't looking for love, but when Tara shows up for a home visit their chemistry is undeniably.

I really enjoyed reading this book! Once I started I couldn't put it down. It was nice to read about a man stepping up to be the best dad he could be. Shawn wants only the best for his daughter. Tara the love interest kind of comes into her own with Shawn. He brings out the best in her. They complete each other nicely. This book had the perfect amount of heat and suspense. I am really curious where this story is going to go next.

Your past should not define who you are. Shawn wanted to be a better man not only for his daughter but for the woman who blasted into his life. Grace and Tara became his everything and he would go to the ends of the earth to protect them both. I am glad that he was able to find his happily ever after.

I absolutely love this book!! Once I started reading it I didn’t want to put it down. The cover alone should grab you and make you buy it. It has everything you could want. A baby, sex, love, romance, with a shot of violence and obstacles to overcome. I strongly urge you to go and 1-click this adorable baby.

A great read from Sam JD Hunt!
I love a story about second chances and overcoming life's struggles, and Redemption was that, and so much more.
I found myself cheering on Shawn as he worked hard every day to move forward form his past and make a good life for himself and the daughter he was surprised with, and I cheered even harder for him when social worker Tara comes into his life. They may come from different sides of town, but neither has had it easy, and together they can overcome the difficulties they face.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for this couple and little Grace.

I read this via ku and am leaving my review voluntarily. This was a new author for me and I look forward to meeting her at Apollycon.

These two seemingly different people hit it off. Lots of sexy time, a bit of suspense and drama. HEA for now.

Couldn’t put it down.
The writing was really strange for me. It was like reading one scene, cutting, then going to a completely different scene a day or several days later. However, I couldn’t put this story down and I have never wanted something to work out for someone in a book so badly before.

When a Shawn "Mack" MacKenzie finds out he has a daughter, he does everything he can to keep her safe and to be able to keep her. In come the social worker Tara, she decides the baby is fine where she is. this is Las Vegas though where everyone is crooked. things are not going to be easy for Mack, however he is going to do everything in his power to give his daughter a good life.

This single dad romance hooked me from the start! You can't help but love Mack from the beginning and add in a precious baby and you have an awesome read. The banter between Mack and Jake when Grace first arrived was hilarious. Tara the sweet social worker fell hard and fast for Mack and Grace and when she had to, made the hard decisions to fight for her happily ever after.

Redemption
Great start to a new series. This was a very quick read for me. And I stuck with it till the end. I can’t wait to get the next one. Love that this one wasn’t your everyday average romance book. Had some twist to it. And some saving angels!!

Sam JD Hunt has blown me away yet again with this brilliant, thrilling, emotional love story. Shawn, an ex-con one day has a daughter Grace Olivia whom he knew nothing about dropped off on his doorstep by a one night stand who is being pimped out and on drugs. He immediately falls in love with Grace and does everything he can to keep her safe. Tara becomes Grace's social worker after inquiries from her grandparents. Tara has complications of her own as her ex-husband dirty cop thinks he owns her and tries to control her by threats. This story gets really complicated and it looks like a relationship that is budding between Tara and Shawn will be stopped by the dirty cop. The ending is something you do not see coming. The main characters are stunning as are the sub-characters in this story. It will keep you on the edge of your seat with all the intense action. I loved this book and can not wait for the next.

I don’t even know where to start! This was my first read from this author and I am so glad that I took the chance on this book because I fell in love with these characters. The book was a fast read, the intimate scenes didn’t overshadow the story like I’ve read in other novellas, and the flow was perfect to keep me on my toes and interested.
Shawn and Tara have unbelievable chemistry, and the way she takes to Grace almost instantaneously is beautiful. Neither are who they seem to be based on their appearance and it was refreshing! I may have had some heartbreaking sobs of my own, but everything turned out for the best and stitched my heart back together.
This was a great book to pull me out of my book funk!
I definitely recommend this HEA romance!
