Talk to Me Always by HSH Prince Alexi Lubormirski is a great poetry collection.

I am not a huge fan of poetry but really enjoyed this collection. Talk to Me Always explores a wide variety of topics including love, parenting, and death.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by HSH Prince Alexi Lubromirski. I always like when audiobooks are narrated by the author. This really allows the reader to experience the emotion the author is trying to convey. However, based on the description there are photographs in the book. I would recommend reading the book instead or listening and looking at the photographs.

Thank you NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Audio for Talk to Me Always.

Thanks to #Netgalley for making this book available to me.
I tried to read every poem in this book and it took such a long time then I realized that I could just get myself a copy when it comes out and read and enjoy it as slowly as I can.
Each poem is accompanied by a picture that speaks volumes about the intension behind the poem. There are poems, short stories which are written in prose and photography that highlights the importance of family, friendship, love, brotherhood, there are poems about hope and inspiration for a better future.
There are a few lines that spoke to me about mothers relationship with their children
"We have both ages now,
and I have evolved from protected to protector
As we outgrew you, my siblings and I began to discuss your well-being, more than our own"
This just simply shows the circle of life, the children become the parents and the parents one that needs to be cared for.

There is also another that slightly address addiction and recovery in the poem "Vegan Poem"
'Like an ex-smoker cleaning an ashtray,
an ex-drinker surrounded by slurred conversation,
an ex-addict being shouted at by his friends.
Once we move on, it pains us to see what we once were'

This just reminds me of a conversation I had once with a friend about how when you leave a situation can you really look back and realized how toxic that position was in totality.
I really enjoyed this and I hope you check it out.

I received an arc of this book on Netgalley. All opinions experienced are my own.

I think this was certainly a very fantastic read. With a superb reflection of words, the poet has magically interwoven the emotions through the poems, the prose, and the beautiful pictures. I also loved how these poems were so wide in their intensity and topics. They were on love, on nature, on familial bonds, etc and I for one, had a delightful time reading a few every day. I savoured the words and lived forward to reading these pieces of particular joy every day.
I think these were certainly some wonderful poems and I am glad I had the opportunity to read them. The writing was simply marvelous if not complete mastery in emotions and words. I implore everyone to pick up this book!

This was a DNF (as much as one can DNF an artistic collection). There was potential in some of the poems, but most were overly cliche and told readers too much without ever asking them to feel. I read the first section and skimmed the rest, hoping there were diamonds in the rough, but I didn’t find any. Many of the photos are lovely and moving, but some feel like strange costume pieces. I appreciate the journey of the artist, the foray into new kinds of creative expression, but much of the writing didn’t feel quite ready for publication. The emotion is too generic and there’s no vulnerability or honesty in the feelings, nothing that sets them apart as the writers own for readers to be tethered to. There is being relatable through honest vulnerability, and then there is being relatable through generic conformity.

When I talk about poetry and what it contains, I talk about it as if it is a religion that I follow. Something quite utopian and dystopian whose mannerisms are just so because of the author's narrative and imagination.
This collection focuses more on actuality, hence the above mentioned factors of the subject of poetry form through the reality, hence making it more truthful and profound—impact wise.

The author touches various disciplines or easily termed as, "branches that lead to the higher power—Human Consciousness" with a very good amount of personal reflection that is extremely visible through the scrutiny of the texts, irrespective of how long or short is the length of the poem; the message is very clear, because of the appropriate portrayal of the author.

Every poem carries numerous affirmations. I found them suitable to be read out loud and took a moment a while later after finishing just to let the messages sink in. Which every page's progress, to someone, here me, it was visible that the author has explored the map of spirituality and is walking right on it, as I, myself am on path of the same destiny, just a different route.

I found a sweet attachment towards the way this book was written; with pictures that had stories—which were later gazed upon with the following poems. It will be seen as a low adjective if I say that I connected to the book because to me it was more than a book. It was honesty, it was love, it was pouring of life. It was consciousness. And it was visible that when the author was set to write the book, when the author started writing the book, he was "being". A state of awareness that gave birth to something that is so important to everyone and as well as the author; being not a product but a part of him.

I must say that I read this book just in time. Grateful to have recieved a copy from Netgalley by AndrewsMcmeel Publishing.

A beautiful, earnest poetry collection covering all phases of life from childhood to death. This gorgeous, arresting collection is organized by topic, from family to nature to travel and more. I especially adored the poems ruminating on his children and parenthood. Some of these poems brought tears to my eyes. The narration was absolutely fantastic. Lubomirski recites his poems with poise and emotion. I think I would have enjoyed this poetry collection even more if I saw the photographs included in the physical book.

Thank you Andrews McMeel Audio and NetGalley for providing this audiobook ARC.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This collection of poetry was just everything I needed. It was beautiful in every single word. I love the way Hsh Prince Alexi Lubomirski wrote it and how he decided to tell small stories of his life in this book. It was just really well written and amazing the way he showed us his own perspective in life. This collection of poems talk from romance, to parenthood, to grief, and more. It was full of emotions and such an amazing trip to his own world.

“But what of love, does it feel as we do? if it and we are but different fruits grown from the same tree, born of stardust, do we not then feel the same longing?”

Thanks to netgalley for access to this audiobook. I loved this audiobook. Listening to this soothing voice, reading the most beautiful, romantic, poetry to me? Amazing. This audiobook was read by the author himself, and it shows. You can tell that he knew the work he was reading personally. He knows the emotions of the poems in a way that is exclusive to the author themselves.

This poetry collection addresses the idea of love in all forms; new beginnings, romance, parenthood, grief. The book truly has everything. It really read like a collection of ramblings, of consciousness, of thoughts written in iphone notes and scribbles in notebooks. This type of poetry is also known as my favourite kind of poetry.

As much as I loved this audiobook, I do think having the pictures and being able to actually read the poems would have allowed me to enjoy it even more, so I will for sure be picking this up when it comes out. I understand the audiobook will come paired with the photography, so I think that would really add value to this.

My favourite quotes:
“How sweet the irony the one I love the most is the one I photograph the least”
“No one else has shone like you shine today”
“Go in peace, you are loved”
“I will die, that is for sure. So now, I choose to live.”
“She stood hypnotized by the horizon”
“Breathe deep, thank the ancestors”

I listened to an audiobook of this collection of poetry this month and found it highly enjoyable, especially for someone like me who is fairly new to reading poetry. The narrator (who was also the author) had a great voice for narrating poetry and I found that although some of the poems were simple, they had deep meaning. There were also several sections throughout the book relating to family, friends, the environment, and other topics so I think many people could find something to relate to. Unfortunately, since I did listen to an audiobook, I couldn’t experience the photography at all and sometimes I was unsure where poems ended and began in a few places. Based on the poetry alone, I found that this was a meaningful collection of poems that I would suggest to anyone who is interested in trying out some poetry!

Thank you so much to netgalley and Andrews McMeel audio for the chance to listen to this!

This collection of poetry, photography, and prose is beautiful in a way that feels raw, but which I'm sure took a great deal of tireless effort. HSH Prince Alexi's collection of scrapbook-style images, impressions, and imaginings are a peek into the heart and mind of a person who has invested in his inner life in a way that I don't often encounter from the male species. It's a collection that includes verses and pictures of his romances, his sons, his models, his hobbies, and himself, in ways that are undisguised or embellished, and makes the reader feel the author is pouring his soul out to them in the only way he knows how.
Thanks to HSH Prince Alexi Lubomirsk and NetGalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my truthful opinion.

Listening to an author reading their own book is always something special. And this audiobook confirmed it.
His voice perfectly enhanced the feelings and the messages of the poems. It felt extremely natural and did not sound artificial at all.

What's more, the collection of poems themselves were accurated and covered a huge quantity of themes. From the author being a son to his love for his wife, from his veganism to fatherhood etc. In a tender way, in a honest and reflective manner, he described those feelings thoroughly. It actually surprised me!

I would definitely advise it to anyone who is in search for a human and poetic connection with life and nature. In particular, I think it is accessible to a reader that is just getting started with poetry.

This is an exceptionally beautiful, heartfelt book of poetry. It goes beyond the insta-poetry that we've gotten used to in the last few years.

The poems themselves seem like raw, outpourings from his heart, covering a wide variety of subjects... some of them could come across as unpolished even, but to be honest, I like it that way - that it's not all perfect. It just makes the words and the emotions that much more real.

I loved this book, and I'd even buy a physical copy of this book.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for providing me with a copy of this book.

Disclaimer: I received this book for free in exchange of my honest opinion.

I am not a big reader of poetry, but Alexi Lubomirski's poems - especially those about love and family - felt so genuine and intimate, like he did not actually write them to be shared with the world. There is a intangible vulnerability about them that really touched my heart.

I did not feel the same about all the poetry presented in this book, but what those poems lacks, the book makes up for in the beautiful photographs, most of them also by the author. The photographs too have a fragility to them that fascinates me.

It is a special volume.

"Talk to Me Always" is a moving collection of poems written by (and read by) HRH Prince Alexi Lubomirski. Perhaps better know as a photographer, HRH has a soothing voice that perfectly accompanies his newest artistic adventure. While listening, I was greatly saddened that I could see the accompanying images and, while I did love his narration, I do feel this collection is best appreciated in print form.

This collection of Poetry is absolutely beautiful, I don't have enough words to describe how I felt while listening to it, from beginning to end I felt so connected, I found it very pleasant, the narration was great, and the voice of the narrator helped make it more deep the meaning of poems!

Thank you to Netgalley, to the author and the publisher for this amazing ALC!

I liked the simplicity and relatability of the book. I enjoyed it but it’s such a shame that I only listened to it (audiobook). Would have loved to see those photographs associated with the poems.

Thanks NetGalley and author Alex Lubomirski.

I was kindly enough gifted a copy from Netgalley.

This poetry, prose, and photography is really wonderful, I just do not think that collection was for me.

I enjoyed the family poems the most. I am NOT a father, but I deeply pictured my own father and husband as Lubomirski's words. So many moments were so personal and deep but yet so universally connected. I really loved those.

The photography is beautiful. The poems were very real and accessible for so many readers, and I think poetry like that is needed, especially right now.

"Thus, here lies the remains of my unrequited love
dormant between two chapters.
I place the relics on the table
and gently blow away the ashes of this love story's demise.

- An excerpt from the poem, The Early Bluebell"

Thank you NetGalley and Andrews McMeel for providing me with an advance copy of this audiobook. This review is limited to the audiobook quality and the Narrator.
'Talk To Me Always', by the high-profile celebrity fashion photographer HSH Prince Alexi Lubomirski, is a collection of 'Photopoetry'-the pairing of his iconic photography with his hypnotic and dreamy poetry as an ode to all art-lovers. Divided into 9 sections, he explores the themes of love, loss, family, fatherhood, hope, courage, and inspiration.

Narrated with proper eloquence, this unabridged audiobook lives up to the exquisite experience this photo poetry collection provides to its readers. This audiobook purchase includes a PDF supplement of Alexi's photography so that is bound to make this experience come closer to reading the book. I had no issue following through the narration. Even though it was slightly accented, Alexi's enunciations were clear and evocative.

I really enjoyed listening to this mesmerising audiobook and I adored some of the poems in audio more, than I did when I was reading. There was an audio quality issue at a certain point of the audiobook (which I think, is limited to the complimentary copy I got but I am not quite sure about it) and at certain points, I preferred the physical book/ebook than this audiobook. Apart from that, this is a an highly recommended choice for your next listen!

"With each image
I feel as though I am writing poetry,
trying to document in images the miracles I see before me.

The light that dances off your face
and the soft glow of your skin
are the similes and metaphors that form each verse.

I write as fast as I can with my shutter,
scared that I will miss a dip of your chin,
a raise of your eyebrow, a twinkle in your eye.

As fast as it began, it is over.
Life starts up again,
and I am left with whatever my camera has stolen.

Images that captured that incredible moment in time
when your eyes burnt a hole through a piece of glass
and pierced my soul.

Such is the sweet pain I feel.
To witness heaven's light for a brief second
before it disappears, once more, into the haze of life."

-An excerpt from the poem, 'How Sweet The Irony'.

Thank you NetGalley and Andrews McMeel for providing me with a temporary e-arc.

With the blend of two artful expressions: Photography & Poetry, complementing each other with their emotive expressions evoking the true character of both expressions like never before, HRH Prince Alexi Lubomirski brings an exquisite experience with his empathetic, emotionally fierce and thought-awakening photopoetry collection. The sections divided are self-explanatory and well put together exploring themes with amazing metaphors. The portrayal of the underlying theme of being in sync with the divine universe and connecting with those before us & the one inside of us to bring out the best out of our existence in most of the pieces stands out to make a profound impact on the readers. The core of this collection lies within its visuals and imagery- something that has been fulfilled with masterful photos that etch permanently inside you and with poems owning vivid imagery within them. The entire collection is visually and intellectually enticing all while being emotionally stirring!

Nearly every poem is long and leaves you wanting for more, thanks to the artful portrayal of the essence of a poem. HSH proves that he is someone one can always count on for beautiful full-length/long poems that flows beautifully through one's mind and soul. HSH knows how to create one such experience and I can only imagine how the experience would be with a physical book!

This is far from being a quick read and it is really something that makes the collection more impressive. This is a book for everyone: lover of the genre- photography and/or poetry and just about anyone else. I think I have said enough and it is up to you to explore this collection and find out about this all by yourself! To end with, I can never thank the publisher for being the best one out there when it comes to poetry. Their books always hit the right mark and end up being my elite reads almost all the time! And this one, right here, is now one of my elite reads and I'm pretty sure it will be everyone else's too...!
