Younger me probably would've enjoyed it more, but older me doesn't have the capacity for this kind of bullshit. I think on Amazon somewhere this book is described as/compared to Gossip Girl - and that's all it is. The life and bullshit of the rich, crazy without consequences, just do wtv w no regard to reality because they do play with a different set of rules altogether.

I think this was done for sensationalism and sheer shock factor, but the step-siblings angle was milked a little too hard/strong. I thought it was completely unnecessary.

I am conflicted after reading this book, conflicted because I enjoyed reading it, but it also confused the heck out of me. I felt as if there was a secret and I was left out of it, which I don't mind bombs dropping at the right time, but it did not feel that way to me.

BUT, this book totally goes with the blurb and the series- it is wicked and there is totally a war. I was not able to connect with the characters, but I would have liked if there was more to the book and that would have helped with that issue. I can say that it was intriguing and captured my full attention. This is a 3.5 outta 5 from me and I will definitely be checking out the 2nd in the series because my interest is peaked!

PS: Thank you to Mallory Fox and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review.

I wholeheartedly have to agree with some of the other reviews I have read about this book. I was intrigued by the storyline but something was missing. A spark between the main characters? More of an understanding of the background of them? More chemistry? I can't put my finger on it but something was missing.

Pearl is a rich girl who grew up spoiled her whole life. Due to a tragedy, she is set to take over the family company until her hotter then hell stepbrother shows up to claim - or should I say "try to claim" what is rightfully his. He evidently has been MIA for a long time and there are hints here and there of why he left and where he was. You never get a clear cut picture of it all.

What is clear is that there was definitely more then a stepsister/brother relationship between these two and something went horribly wrong and now they hate each other. Or do they? The basis of the story has soooo much potential but was just jumbled too much and did not flow well for me. By the end it got a little better but not much. I do want to follow this series but I'm hoping future books are not only a little longer but are more detailed and flow much better. Also, I need to feel more chemistry between these two. I definitely felt it was missing in this story. This story was a great idea but something didn't connect for me.

WOW.

Pearl Darlington and Seth Montford are amazing! The tension between the two is HOT. Both are top of their classes and Pearl does everything she can to prove she DESERVES to be where she’s at. Seth, being the alpha male he is, wants nothing but to prove her wrong. Once their families combine Pearl takes a backseat to her fathers company. And the rest is history.

This book ends on a BIG cliffhanger and I’m so glad book two comes out soon so we can see what Seth will do to retaliate against Pearl. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it was another breath of fresh air from my typical reads. And who doesn’t love a good bully romance?

Oh my... What a thrilling dark romance ! I loved the character of Pearl. Mallory showed us, not everything is like a pink coud in life. Yeah, Pearl is egoist, arrogant and cruel at business. But it is cool guys, we need a powerful woman in this story to fight eith Seth. Yesss the bad guy. Who isn't as bad. Or yeah, he is. Pearl and Seth connection started in the past, where both of them had feelings for the others. But the past has passed , Pearl tries to live her life at school but she is far away from uni. Business is everything.
Seth you &*@### how could you do that? You seriously have a problem in your mind.

Two Rival Wealthy Families, Dirty Business, Two Step siblings

This second book in the Wicked Hearts at War series, continues the ongoing battle between the Darlington family and,the Montford family.

Now, more than ever, Pearl is desperately trying to keep control of her her late father’s luxury hotel chain.
Seth, has risen from the dead after a stint in the army where he suffered a life threatening gunshot wound.

In this book he shows up alive at Pearls Posh, Swiss college.
Enrolling none the less, before embarking on plan to regain his share of (what he feels) is his inheritance. After all, it was his dead mothers (Pearls Step mother) money that was used to bail out the Darlington’s dwindling finances.

So, the battle lines are drawn between Seth and Pearl.
Not only in the business world but, also in the bedroom, as they both fight for what theirs while trying to not tear each other part.
But, there’s one thing, a big secret that Pearl is holding onto, might be the the straw that breaks the camels back.
Love these books. Seth and Pearl are crazy at pushing each other’s buttons.
If I have one criticism about this book two it would be, that Pearl isn’t as ruthless or on top of her game in this one.
She seems to be a bit emotional and allows herself to be sidetracked by Seths Cheek bones, full lips, square jawline, tattoos, abs, etc...etc... In the first book she was more on the ball about what was going on around her.
Also! I have a feeling Pearls bestie Flick might be a bit of a snake in the grass. I really don’t like her.

What a disappointment..spoilers.

Enjoyed and loved book one but book two was a disappointment. Could not stand the plot of making the heroine the fall guy. Everyone was against the heroine. The h was annoying and unlikable. This storyline did not flowed as the first one did. The worst was the h dates her best friend. Really?

What the check happened to this book. Too much angst, with the weak mc that gets beaten down a lot, and the ending with her having a child? The family lawyer turned enemy just did not make sense. This chemistry was a weak one on this with some violence treatment of the heroine by the h. From choking her to throwing her. Did not care for this book.

The author should have 're-do this book completely instead of revising since it clearly lost what book one had. Book one had passions, chemistry, likable mc and suspense. The main take away I get from this book is this must have a beaten down weak mc and unlikable h. The heroine is supposed to be rich but yet she is powerless. The only thing this book did is annoyed me. Passed on this one.

I’m destroyed! There’s no coming back for me. Nope!
.
My heart about ripped out of my chest so much in this book. This dark stepbrother bully romance is such a wicked ride but one I would gladly go on again and again! That ending! Almost killed me not gonna lie. So much to unpack with this book, so much more left unsaid and unraveled, just so much.
.
I fell in love with these characters in war of hearts and I’m obsessed with them after this book! So many emotions layered while reading this. One minute you love them, next you hate them but in all you hate that you love them. This plot has so much angst, tension, drama and much more. There’s really nothing that hasn’t been experienced with this book.
.
This world is all consuming, captivating and such a thrill to read. Built in such a way that there’s so much vivid details and pictures conjured when reading, it makes the experience all the more real. I absolutely loved this book. I can’t wait to see what Pear and Seth have in store for us in the next book.
.
Amazing job Mallory! Now do me a solid and give me the next book! I’m not sure I can wait that long!!

Mallory Fox pulled me in again right from the first page! This book is a continuation from the first, so you need to read them in order. Fast forward four years and Pearl is entering her final year of University, she is running her families company and is at the top of her class, but everything comes crashing down on her when he is introduced to the student body during opening ceremonies. How can this be? He shouldn't be here..Seth is back! It has been four long years! Seth has returned for what he feels he is owed and will do whatever it takes to get it back. Pearl and Seth resort back to their games of shame, humiliation and pain, but it seems Seth is not the only one out to get Pearl. Throughout all the events that happen Pearl keeps her head held high and never falters, Seth actually shows some signs of admiration for her at some points and realizes why he loved her at one point and Pearl has moments of where she wishes she could be with him also, but remembers what he is doing to her and how this is just a game of cat and mouse. Pearl and Seth are two people who both want the same thing and refuse to give in, so it makes them hurt each other even though they have feelings for the other, but sometimes love for another can cause more damage than good. I can't wait to read the final book to see what happens when the secrets Pearl has been keeping are found out and what Seth will do to try and get what he feels he is owed.

Pearl Darlington is heir apparent to the Darlington International portfolio once she makes two conditions: that she be 21 years old and graduated with honors from the prestigious hospitality institute, La Rochelle in Europe. She is wealthy, attractive, intelligent and her family’s business connections make her powerful.

Five years ago, Pearl’s step mother and father died in a car accident with her step-brother, Seth as the only survivor. Her resentment of Seth for living when her parents died grew to a point where she destroyed his reputation. She had him exiled to a military academy where Seth later died.

It’s 5 years after the incident with Seth, Pearl is ready to shed nights of partying and heavy drinking for intense studying in preparation for her 21st birthday and assuming the role as President of Darlington. But someone is blackmailing her and her company with deep faked pornography. Not only that, but as she enters her final year at La Rochelle, Seth has risen from the dead to challenge her claim to the Darlington fortune and company.

Seth is alive, handsome and capable of beating Pearl at her own game. He will not be dismissed or destroyed by the memory of what Pearl did. He’s determined to tear Pearl down and reclaim what it rightly his, the question is whether Pearl is one of those things.

Wicked Hearts is narrated primarily by Pearl with one chapter narrated by Seth. Pearl’s feelings for Seth are complicated. She resents Seth and sees him as a rival and threat to her claim on Darlington but she conversely finds him incredibly attractive and wants to be with him. Her conflict with Seth is inopportune as her summer beau, Davis Gladstone is not taking rejection well.

Most of this novel is Pearl trying to find out who is blackmailing her, dealing with Davis, and some of her clashes with Seth. Pearl comes across as inconsistent only in her feelings towards Seth. I find it ironic that the gangster, Levi treats Pearl more respectfully than the wealthy blueblood, Davis. Continuing with the warnings included in the blurb, there are moments that might be triggering regarding consent and there is some violence, and all of it plays into the external conflicts in the book.

All of the drama going on makes it hard to learn about Pearl as a person rather than as this bitchy mean girl front while she attempts to be a studious businesswoman. I only felt sorry for her when certain things go down in the novel but not for the trouble she finds herself in regarding her inheritance and the strange relationship she has with Seth. She messed up her own life in that regard by making many jealous and stupid decisions, but five years gives people time to grow up. It sucks for Pearl that she’s being forced into this corner but it’s mostly her own fault.

I wouldn't have minded seeing more of Seth being a person rather than an object of hate and lust but from the look of it, the next book in this series is in his perspective. This was my first book in this subgenre of romance outside of anime and I can see its appeal for those into light S&M. The book’s pacing is fast. The perspective of what’s happening is deliberately narrow with lots of foreshadowing for later revelations in the series that will leave readers wondering what the secrets are, if this is read as a stand alone novel. While I didn’t love Wicked Hearts, I am curious to see what happens next.

Thank you to Black Jade Publishing for reaching out and providing me a copy of Wicked Hearts in exchange for a review.

DNF at 18%.

Just isn’t my book. I can’t like Pearl and she needs to decide who she wants to be. In the short amount I’ve read, she’s flip-flopped all over the place.
I won’t be continuing with this series, sorry.

Five bully stars! A promising dark romance...

OMFG! If you follow my reviews, you may already know that I have the softest spot for dark romance and I tend to read every dark book that is published. This time I found a rough diamond between shining gemstones. I found a promising book that tortured my soul in the most twisted ways with all the angst and vicious romance. Wicked Hearts by Mallory Fox is a heart pounding romance that kept me glued to my e-reader until I devoured every page of it. It delivered what was promised in the synopsis and more. A wicked story hidden in a beautiful cover. A bully romance that left you aching for more. A slow burn romance with epic touches of forbidden and sinful. So gripping that I almost threw my kindle. That cliff-hanger ending left me gasping for air like a fish outside the water. It keep me at the edge of my seat and I love every minute of it.

The plot is captivating, the pacing is fast and vicious and the characters are wonderfully complex and very intense. The storyline pours raw passion, fierce attraction, hate and lust. All packed to create a conflicted and twisted book. It is literally a war, a collision of wills and emotions. It feels like there is a BIG secret that will knock you in the most unexpected way. And I can’t wait to discover it because I have many theories that I wish to confirm in the upcoming book.

Pearl and Seth’s story is wicked, twisted and so deliciously forbidden and dangerously sinful. The lines between love and hate were blurred. She destroyed him. He allowed her. A passionate tale. A sordid past. An uncertain future.

Mallory Fox penned a story with potential that I pray she develops more in the following book in the series because this bully romance could turn into a redemption story where love defies everything with many and delicious dark touches and steamy moments that will keep readers gasping for air. That’s why I call this book a rough diamond that can turn into a shining diamond and I want to be in the first line to witness such beautiful moment.

At one point in her life Seth meant everything to Pearl, he was the object of her desires, a trusted friend, and the one person who she could always depend on. Then things went totally wrong, he was sent away to military school, and all connection was lost.

That is until now, he has come back to town armed with a mission to right the wrongs of the past and also settle a few scores. One of which involves Pearl, she hurt him and he is determined to pay her back for the pain she caused.

And Pearl is more than a little scared to see what he will do...

Wicked Hearts is dark and dramatic romance that will keep you enthralled from beginning to end. What starts out as a mission of revenge quickly becomes something else entirely, secrets are being kept, a dynasty is at stake, and it's two staring characters can't seem to stay away from one another. These two sworn enemies have history, the steamy kind that has a way of coming around to haunt them when they least expect it, and boy was it fun to watch them try to escape it. I am dying to see how this one all comes to an end, that cliffhanger stole the breath from my lungs, and left me with so many questions! Highly recommend you take a chance on this one, it's pages hold a story that will torture your heart in the best possible way!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

Wicked Hearts is a story with a great plot, but something just fell a tad short for me. The more I thought about it, the more it felt like having just Pearl's POV with one chapter from Seth was the reasoning as I really do better with all POVs. I just need to read inner monologues from the players, so the rage doesn't become all encompassing while reading. Seth & Pearl have quite the past, and while I don't blame his reasoning for the hate, there was still a part of me that got mad at him in weird ways. I know it doesn't make any sense, but I'm complicated girl who doesn't always make sense when it comes to extreme rage. Pearl is a complicated girl herself, and yet, I still have her back, while thinking Seth has reasons because she made some very immature decisions with far reaching consequences. There's a lot going on which fed the darkness of my rage, so be warned as things did cross some lines, or at least bent them. There's also the f-bomb worthy twists which had me dropping them loud & proud, and since Wicked Hearts is only the tip of the Wicked Hearts At War iceberg, I'm here for it because while I'm confused about my feelings, I do feel like this is a series to keep going with, like there are so many secrets buried deep that I HAVE to know! You can decide for yourselves by hitting that one click button, as I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Well now! This was soooooooo much better than the first!!

This seems to happen, I believe 4yrs later. It doesn't say as such at the beginning but within the first few pages you pick it up.
So Pearl is no longer at school. Seth was sent away to military school after the truck Pearl pulled on him at the end of book one.
And here is where the first twist starts! I love the way it carries on throughout this book.

More umph, more expression from the characters, more connection between the main characters, and this time involving and bringing forward others to the storyline which helps enrich it and bring more life to it!

The whole book just felt more alive. Like it had been jolted awake! There was more happening in regards to the inheritance, with the bullying, with other characters, and the development of Pearl and Seths relationship is rocky as hell!

But the secret Pearl has should make all the difference. Except she's planted a false trail. Could this be the one time Seths digging brings to light info he shouldn't have? And Where's the correct?
A big tangled mess of whi to trust and not to aswell? Especially considering they were both 17 and 18 when this happened they looked to "the adults" for guidance on this. Did they steer them right or wrong then? And are they doing it right or wrong now?

Hoping book 3 ends the trilogy the same way book 2 went!

"I’m going to ruin you, Pearl Darlington.”

😈 Wicked Hearts by Mallory Fox 😈

Wicked Hearts is the second book in the Wicked Hearts at War series by Mallory Fox. After devouring the first book I absolutely smashed through this one in a day and already moved onto the third! Safe to say I love this series!

“Stay the fuck there. You’re mine.”

This one is set years after the events of the first book as both the characters find themselves back at the same school together. I always love when a book have dual povs, I think it gives the book more depth and you have a greater insight into both the characters, so I really enjoyed getting to have more from Seth as well as Pearl.

“You’ll do what the fuck I tell you since your precious company and you both belong to me.”

The twists and turns in this book were wild! I did not expect so much to happen but wow what a rollercoaster. I really loved that even though they both have this love/hate situationship going on he will always protect her. Both the MCs have developed so much compared to book one yet still keep their morally grey ways. After that ending I'm ready for the HEA!

❤️‍🔥 Step Brother romance

Whoa...where do I start with this review? Wicked Hearts was just as its name, pure wicked. Pearl and Seth were....well that is a lot going on there. I have no idea what will the outcome of this series will be. This story has edge and is a bit dark. Pearl is a character I have yet figured out. She has thick skin, but I feel like she is a ticking time bomb. Secrets lie beneath the surface. There is the lawyer that I cannot trust fully that is involved with Pearl and Seth. I have my eye on him.

Wicked Hearts is shattering delicious. I hung on to every word. I am still thinking about the twists that came in this book that had me left with jaw hanging. I am eagerly waiting for Hearts Break!!

Wicked Hearts has so many ups and down and things going sideways that you will be engrossed from beginning to end with this bully romance!! I can’t say it is completely a love story so bully romance it is. I can’t wait for the next book to see is Pearl and Seth can fix their lives or separate for good. You can never guess what is coming but when you think you have an inkling things goes sideways. There were a couple of times I thought they are finally going to fix things and things goes sideways and you are trying to guess again. I won’t tell you what happened as you must read this book for yourself. I highly encourage you to read War of Hearts before this one. Be prepared for lots of hot and explosive 🧨 scenes. Keep a fan handy with some tissues as this book makes your emotions come out. I admit to crying a time or two. It is so easy to get involved in the story where when the ending come you don’t want to put the book down and say till next time to both Pearl and Seth. By the way, if you have triggers this book is not for you!!

5 Bully Stars!!! I said I wouldn't jump on the bully bandwagon, but here I am!!!

I'm not a huge fan of the bully romance, I've read a few and they've been great, but this one is BEYOND words!! I definitely fell for it... and I can't wait to read more! I was gasping at certain spots and fanning myself in others!! It's a slow tortorous burn, but gosh it's so worth it! I can't wait to read the next book in the series!!!

This book was even better than the first one!

This one was a bit darker with some darker themes. This is all about Seth's return and his plot for revenge. It's been 5 years since he seen Pearl and now he's back to take back what's his and destroy Pearl.

This is set when they're in college. The attorney continues to try and play both sides. Pearl hasn't made too many friends in the last 5 years so not too many people are on her side.

Pearl and Seth are back to their games and the consequences of shame, humiliation, pain, and regret. However, at the same time as they want to destroy each other and tale away everything, they also want to rip each other's clothes off and live in each other.

Pearl has one secret that she never wants anyone to find out especially not Seth. And she can't tell if he knows or not.

Diving right in to book 3 Hearts Break. I can't get enough!

“To take back what’s mine.” He says it so surely and quickly that my eyes blaze. He can’t be here just for the money. “And that’s not me, I take it?” “I told you, I’m here to take what’s mine. I still legally have a share in the company.”

Wicked Hearts picks up the story five years after War of Hearts ended. Pearl is blindsided when Seth comes back into her life unexpectedly. They still share the same magnetic draw to each other, but both harbour pain and anger. This is a roller coaster ride of ups and downs as Pearl and Seth play a loaded game of tit for tat. They say revenge is sweet but it seems to of left a sour taste in their mouths. Many twists and turns will have your head spinning trying to keep up with the deception and secrets they keep. Jumping into Hearts Break now to see what happens next in this angsty drama.

The blurb doesn't gives this book enough justice.
I've got the chance to read the trilogy in one go and I recommend that you do too as the story is not easily to break apart. The action is almost non-stop so you will be left with big cliff-hangers and to be honest the best parts are not in the first book.
As for the story itself, it is about 2 complicated and rich families that get united by a short lived marriage. A love marriage that just like in Romeo and Juliet is not desired by the "elder" of the family and that is bound to repeat itself in the next generation of step-siblings.
The story is about their hate-love relationship starting in college and spanning a few years during witch a lot of deals, misunderstandings, attacks, and a lot more happen before what we expect to be the final happy ending. The voyage is great for those that like a bit of a darker romance (just a bit).

Wicked hearts, is a love/hate romance focused on the rivalry and sexual tension between the two step-siblings. The storyline begins with a mysterious
way leaving us wondering what had happened in the past. Slowly some of the secrets are being revealed which helps us understand more the situation
and the main characters. The book is well written and manages to keep your attention throughout the story. I finished it in one reading without a break
(which rarely happens to me). The ending was cryptic as well and has me hooked for the next book. I enjoyed reading it and I will rate it with 4.5 stars.

Pearl and Seth are back at it in their second installment. With a huge secret pearl has been keeping from Seth, things are way more complicated this time around. He promises to do to her what she did to him those 5 years ago. Ticking off each one on his check list, pearl is standing strong and not backing down. Her fathers estate and billion dollar company is at stake. The twists and turns in this book will have you hooked and needed to know what happened and who did it. This somehow trumps the first book and was a nail biter from start to finish. We learn a lot more about Pearl and Seth but still there is so much more we need to know! This was terrifically written and had you on the edge of your seat from the beginning! I highly recommend this series and can not wait for the last book!
