A heartfelt continuation of the 𝑅𝑒𝓂𝒶𝒹𝑒 series, 𝑅𝑒𝓃𝑜𝓌𝓃 shows deepening relationships and further exploration of the King’s Galaxy’s planets and politics. This novel made room for growth and development in the plot and characters alike, though that seemed to fall a little short in regards to the main character. While Aliya has great potential to be a strong female lead, her desires and motivation seem to be deeply rooted in dependency and lacked the strong independence I desired and expected from her. Her up-and-down, yes-and-no uncertainty and inconsistency seemed to take away from otherwise strong plot points and, I feel, weakened the overall structure of the story. While others may find the romance subplot to be charming, I felt that some of these scenes took away from the sense of adventure and created unnecessary and unrealistic conflict that interrupted the story’s more intriguing developments and experiences. That being said, there were also times where the budding romance between Aliya and Caspian offered safety and comfort as well as raw emotion that Novotny successfully conveyed and used to deepen Aliya’s sense of belonging in a galaxy of people and places unfamiliar to her. While there were times I wished for a little less of the corny romance, I understand and appreciate the necessity of the relationship at its core and the heightened stakes it brings. Between the scenes of romance, I found exciting adventure, breathtaking scenery, and curious creatures filling the pages and pouring into my imagination. Novotny’s second novel further expanded the universe introduced in her debut, acquainting readers with new alliances and revealing more about the King’s Galaxy’s mysterious enemy. 𝑅𝑒𝓃𝑜𝓌𝓃 ends shortly after an epic battle, much like 𝑅𝑒𝓂𝒶𝒹𝑒, leaving readers in the aftermath and uncertainty of what’s to come in the much-anticipated third installment of the series.

As if I wasn’t already awed by Aliya Rathburn, this book made her even more lovable. The battle on Vanthurium may be over but the war isn’t and the team is still reeling from their injuries, setbacks, and the damage done by the malicious Krech. Aliya is having horrible nightmares, Adis is missing, and even Caspian is more withdrawn than usual. What’s more is the team is about to be split apart to go serve the King and no one is prepared for what comes next.

What starts out as a simple “babysitting” job for the reckless, playboy prince becomes so much more as Aliya and Caspian grow ever closer, the Krech continue to invade the King’s galaxy, and Aliya shows everyone that she’s not just a humanized weapon but a true force to be reckoned with. Danielle painted a world of awe, intrigue, and beauty as she takes the reader to new places and planets and the suspense builds towards the end of the book in a mind-blowing crescendo that left me breathless.

This one had it all: action, drama, suspense and romance. I just loved Damien’s turn-around, Aliya’s unwavering bravery, Adis’s strength and as always Captain Caspian (swoon) and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Aliya in book 3 of this exciting trilogy.

In this explosive sequel to "Remade", Aliya Rathburn's adventures as a member of the Spatial Forces continue to be what keeps the universe from tipping over the edge of destruction. After the Nova Squad saved planet Callais from destruction at the hands of the Kerch, Aliya and the team need a moment to catch their breaths. With the threat of another Kerch attack any moment, though, there's no such thing as vacation; soon, Aliya is called by the King of the Galaxy to serve as his son's guard. But the prince doesn't intend to make things easy for her; and juggling babysitting the royal brat with her duties as an elite soldier, and her blossoming relationship with Caspian, soon proves to be quite challenging.

If the first book in the series was about Aliya finding herself, this one addresses the even more difficult process of accepting who she is. Aliya's abilities saved Callais from utter destruction, yet she still can't find it in herself to embrace her new nature. It was really heartwarming to watch her slowly come to find acceptance and empowerment as this novel progressed.

Another highlight in this book was Aliya and Caspian's relationship. After dancing around each other during the first book, and almost losing their lives to the Kerch, both of them are aware that every second spent together is precious. Their duties and responsibilities as high-profile soldiers already steal a lot of time together from them as it is, after all, so there's no point in wasting even more hours by pretending that they don't feel the way they do about each other. Their moments together were achingly sweet, and I highly enjoyed all the scenes with them at the forefront. It was such a sweet romance! It's also one of the reasons why I will NEVER forgive Danielle for that absolutely heinous ending.

Royal duties and a parallel investigation to try to find out more about what the Kerch are up to come together with the love story to create a compelling plot, that rarely ever gives the reader a moment to catch their breath. I was really intrigued to see how all the pieces would fit together, and I suspect we'll get to see it all fall into place in the third book! Meanwhile we have character arcs such as Prince Damien's to keep us in awe. Even though I couldn't stand his guts at first, in the end he turned into one of my favourite "Renown" characters.

All in all, this sequel lived up to the expectations I had after such a great first installment, and has left me thirsting for the final book in the series. I can't wait to see how it all plays out!

Aaaaaahhhhh I need the next book like NOW! Seriously, what a fun, fast-paced, twisty #Scifi story. Highly recommend this series!!! (And the covers are beautiful!)

I LOVED book one (Remade), and this sequel did not disappoint!! Very cool story. I find it interesting, and felt that the author had a unique way of taking the story/pacing/direction of the plot in a different way than I would have, at first, assumed (after the end of book one). It made it very fun and refreshing... definitely NOT a predictable plot which shows great writing! By the climax of this book you will NOT want to put it down. My heart was pumping, and I'm seriously praying that the third book comes out soon because I HAVE TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT! ;)

This was an amazing story. I read it in just two days, first day took place with me getting to chapter 11 in just a three hour plane ride.

What I loved most is that once you step in, you can immediately see the authors growth based on her writing style, character interactions, and use of dialogue.

What took her a page to describe a situation, only took her a paragraph and sometimes even less. This creative wordsmith had me care for characters that I never thought I could have like; Aliya (of course), Caspian, and even Damien—who was written as the perfect enigma.

Almost the entire story took place in a Kingdom that I felt like I was inside.

The ending however—is what will screw everyone up inside. I won’t say anything else other than—YOU NEED TO READ THIS.

it looked like a galaxy consumed by shadows —or maybe it just depicted how little the first travelers understood their universe. They could see other planets and travel, but couldn’t comprehend the spaces in between.

Another brilliant book by Novotny!! The worlds she creates are amazing - I can see them so clearly in my head. And I get so attached to the characters she has created (especially Aliya and Caspian!) that I just can't stop reading. I read the whole book in two days because I simply couldn't put it down! I can't wait to see what happens in the next book!
