I had no idea what stress really is or how it was impacting my health and life. This book opens new windows and helped me manage my stress better and has changed my life’s experience in positive ways I find much more rewarding and satisfying. Ian presents a cognitive wellness strategy that works brilliantly but it’s not what you expect. It is surprisingly enjoyable. I will leave it at that.
The Life Environments approach to cognitive wellness balances stress management (because stress impacts life so profoundly) with behaviors (based on your interests and passions) that change and improve life’s experience noticeably. The strategy behind this approach is science based which makes me more comfortable. The overarching strategy is about clearing away what keeps your brain and mind from doing what they do best and improving their ability to function as they were designed to organically. This is achieved with fascinating understandings and nature’s experience.
The approach is surprisingly common sense and made sense to me. I am seeing significant results only after a short time of following a personal wellness plan that I developed with the help of this book. It’s a unique and fascinating way of thinking that is working for me surprisingly well.
I received this book as part of my company’s cognitive wellness program. When I learned this book was part of a cognitive wellness program I became concerned I would be missing out without the rest of the program even though the book said in the beginning the rest of the program wasn’t necessary to benefit from it. I am a subscriber through my company’s wellness program, but can attest this book is something everyone should read whether part of a wellness program or not. It stands alone and will change lives.
Ian’s style is informative without being formal. He is down to earth, and presents concepts from unexpected directions that are enlightening and interesting. This book is an easy and fascinating read despite the subject matter.
I wish I had read this when I was younger. It is one book I believe everyone should read because it makes anxiety, stress, fear, and depression and cognitive wellness understandable and accessible for the first time. Knowing what is in these pages has changed my life. I think my life would have been different (read better) had I read it 50 years ago.
This is a course more than a book, but an important one if you or someone you knows wants to manage stress better. It is clear Ian has qualified understandings about stress that few others do. In the beginning it is noted this is the actual course used by Life Environments clients and there are references to its technology in several places. It also states it is still perfect for non-customers as well which is why they decided to publish it. A subscription is not required. I learned more than 250,000 people have completed this program. I applaud Life Environments for their decision to make this public for the benefit others even non-customers. This is a book you use. It is not a novel.
The first four or five chapters focus on the basics (foundations) and the rest digs into ways to manage stress. Chapter 5 can be a bit tough (I read it twice) but once you make it through the book starts revealing important ideas everyone can relate to and tools you can put to use today. Ian talks about the importance of changing your relationship with stress. This book keeps its promises and makes it possible using common sense and understanding. I am a fan because this book has made a significant difference in my life. I believe it will do the same for you if you follow it.
As someone who is not normally into self help books, this is a standout. The bottom line is if more people had actionable understandings of anxiety and stress, life would be much different and better. Drugs are not working. There has to be a better way. Ian provides a compelling exploration of stress then uses this knowledge as building blocks for creating a better life design. It is a unique approach that makes sense from someone who is clearly knowledgable.
If you are worried about this book being too medical or technical, don’t. Ian makes complex ideas understandable and shows you how they fit into the bigger picture. Even teens can read this and walk away with solid concepts that will help them throughout life. He doesn’t dumb things down either. He is masterful in his approach.
My company is using this program for our cognitive wellness program. It has been highly touted, but I am putting it to work in my life now. I think I will like the results. I will update my progress here in the future.
This book (life course) is a bit challenging to follow until about chapter 5, but stay with it. This book is meant to be used and not only read. It opens up nicely after that and comes together to as a valuable cognitive health and wellness resource anyone can benefit from. A very good wellness resource.
Update... After putting several of the lessons in this book to work for a short time I have noticed welcome improvements to my life. I highly recommend this course to anyone dealing with anxiety, stress or depression. It keeps its promises.
This book is a course to grow with and not a feel good read. I like the fact Life Environments made it available to the public at a discount for a limited test. I’m not sure that it is still available to the public or only to Life Environments customers. This program is packed with actionable and accurate insights that helps readers understand more about managing stress . It does a good job of making sense of a complex topic that even physicians struggle with.
This is not a storybook. It is not always easy. It is understandable and interesting throughout and designed to be implemented in the real life of the reader. I am especially impressed that it uses nature’s experience to short-circuit anxiety and stress naturally as opposed to pharmaceuticals. It has been medically reviewed and physician approved. This is an important distinction.
I recommend Refreshed! to my patients and have observed surprising results. if you are or know someone who is serious about understanding and managing anxiety and stress better, I recommend this course.
I loved this book so much ; because ur introduced me to effective ways to identify, cope with, and lessen the Stress in my life. I highly recommend that everyone read this book you won't be disappointed.
