Rodeo champion Zach "Lightning" Lucas grumpily agrees to a Christmas Eve put on a Santa suit and deliver gifts to a widowed mother. That done, he can finally leave Dry Creek, Montana, in his dust. Well, except for the small stowaway in his Jenny Collins's grief-stricken little daughter. Like Zach, the girl doesn't believe in much of anything anymore. He brings her home just in time for a blizzard to strand him in lovely Jenny's barn. Where he unexpectedly helps a family—and himself—find the meaning of Christmas.
Janet grew up in the wide open spaces of rural Montana and now lives in the urban spaces of Pasadena, California. She's used both of these locations in her books. Her Dry Creek, Montana series numbers over twenty novels now and her Pasadena books, The Sisterhood of the Dropped Stitches, number four.
This is the same plot from the last book I read by the same author, widowed women with 2 children, and little or no money moves to Montana from California.
Janet Tronstad always creates characters that seem like friends by the end of the story. A young widow and her two children are spending their first Christmas at their new farmhouse in Dry Creek, and it turns out to be a very special one that not only changes their lives, but Zach Lucas' also. Dealing with disappointments from the past, the hospitality of neighbors in Dry Creek, and discovering faith and the meaning of Christmas for the first time make this story very enjoyable and uplifting.
i just LOVE this series, and i haven't even tracked them all down yet! i just SSOOO want to climb into Dry Creek and live there myself!! the people, as in the neighbors, are just SSOOO the way we ALL SHOULD BE!!!
i WILL be looking for the others in the series i missed, plus, looking forward to any new ones
Jenny's husband has died and the only place left for her and her 2 children is a farm he inherited so they go to Montana to live, with no furniture and a car not running it looks to be a bleak Christmas. Zach a rodeo star agrees to put on a Santa suit and deliver mail to Jenny while the local post man takes care of his sick horse. He doesn't believe in anything until Jenny's faith and family Christmas changes him. A nice Christmas story.
A nice light holiday read. Who doesn't love Christmas Snow, Santa, Goodwill and Dreams coming true?

A delightful read. I enjoyed the change that takes place in Zach's life and how it happens as he is exposed to children, family life and begins to read about God. Jenny's human feelings but desire to be honest before God is a testimony before him while he is figuring life out. This book is a happy Christmas read!
