Senior year. Two semesters remain before Raine Campbell and her friends graduate from the School of Necessary Magic. What are the chances of two, nice and quiet semesters?
Chances are pretty slim.
Louper finals are in full swing. Raine’s friends are trying to figure out their plans post high school. A teacher is being threatened.
And it wouldn’t be a complete semester without Dark Wizards getting involved. Some evil never learns.
Adventure still finds the students. Raine and her friends encounter a witch with a strange necklace in the kemana. When she invites them to a meeting of a secret society, things get interesting – quick.
Can Raine and her friends determine what the society are up to and save their friend before it’s too late?
Gather up your spells and join Raine and the gang as they tackle a new challenge head on in Probationary Agent.
Judith Berens is a figment of your imagination, made up of the fevered brainpower of Michael Anderle and Martha Carr, fueled by a lot of people helping them out - as well as all of you, The Fans. Great stories mixed with a lot of great readers equals more adventures to follow.
The story takes place in the first semester of Raine's last year at school, and she and her friends reflect a lot about their choices in life, after they leave that year..
The only one of the FBI Trouble Squad' with a total, and rock-firm, belief in what they'll do is, of course, Raine herself.
The rest of her friends, apart from her Shifter boyfriend, Cameron, who still isn't quite decided what he'll do, gradually settle as to what they'll be aiming for, though none of them have this set in stone, the way that Raine seems to have.
But, while they ponder their futures, Raine does her best to draw the Coral Elf, Madelyn, into her circle of friends but, when she goes with Madelyn, on their own, to the Kamana on the School grounds, they are approached by a woman dressed all in white, who invites them to a meeting.
As usual, Raine's instincts kick in, and she starts an investigation on the woman, and the group she represents, that leads the FBI Trouble Squad into trouble once more!
This was a good story, all told, but the one thing that's got to me, with the whole series, actually, is just how short each of these books actually are.
If I hadn't got the Boxed Set at a really good price, and had bought each book separately, I think I'd have a real cause to complain at their relative brevity.
The fact that each book only covers one semester is a bit cheeky, really and, on finishing this book, which I'd assumed was the last in the series, as it was the last in the Boxed Set, I saw, when reading the Authors' Notes, that there was one more book to go!
So, of course, I had to buy it, paying the full ebook price, which I don't begrudge, having got the Set on Sale.
But this breaking up of stories into much shorter books means ebook buyers are paying almost as much as those who buy physical books!
Don't get me wrong, I never hesitate to pay the price of any physical books that I still collect, as they've usually got quite a few more pages to them than the ebooks seem to have, so they are well worth the price!
But paying for much shorter ebooks? Just saying!
Anyhoo, the final book in this series, is: 'A Necessary Witch', and I hope that this will wrap up Raine's story nicely.
So, once I've read it, I'll catch you on the flip side, and let you know what I think of it!
Another mystery solved… in fact a couple mysteries. One involving everyone’s favorite professor poisoning (finally getting that solved). The other a closer to home mystery that sets up a future threat… maybe?
This novel goes into more aspects of life then just trouble or day to day interactions. It looks more at the obligations to others and the development that one character can have on another. Though change is normally slower then presented here.
Overall, A really good read. This series continually gets better, and I look forward to the next (and unfortunately) final book in the series.
It's the first half of their senior year of high school
This is the first half of their senior year of high school, how are they handling it? Will they figure out what is going on? Will they convience Madeline that she's a real person? Only by reading this will you find out.
Entertaining urban fantasy action adventure series
Entertaining and action packed urban fantasy series. The school of necessary magic. Kind of like Hogwarts. Students who have the ability to use magic or our magical creatures attend the school and learn how to perfect their magical skills. A great cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. This is the second class in the necessary magic series. Each class is broken down into one book per semester. So on average eight books. The first series was with Allison brownstone and her friends and the Series is with Ray and Campbell and her friends. Check them all out. This is one series in a multitude of series written by many different authors all in the same magical world.
Raine is going to have major issues in the future because of the fact that she will not get to investigate anything that she pleases. Not sure why agent conners hasn't mentioned that little tidbit yet. It was nice to get to the bottom of the poisoning and get those questions answered. I do not understand why the book was named this way because she is a student and not an agent. I enjoyed how the kids all helped Madeline. It was nice to see the changes in her and how the all learned from each other.
Martha and Michael (aka Judith Berens) keep the momentum going in this second to last Raine Campbell book. In this episode, our intrepid adventurers solve a mystery closer to home, and help a new friend gain some confidence. Oh, and Professor Powell finds out who is targeting him.
Before the story concluded. Blah, this is what I hate about school story, there a limit on how many years you can stay (unless you are Nobi Nobita of Doraemon series, which stays in fourth grade the last 20 years)
Zander is being hunted,Raine meets a new person. Raine meets someone in a white robe and a pendant she kinda has seen then shape of before. Read to see what happens next!!
Loved this story, so heart warming. Helping another to gain more confidence in themselves, which enabled them to make friends. There is also some danger, adventure, and excitement.
... and more mysteries to solve! Rained and her friends are in their senior year, and I can’t believe there’s only one more semester left 😳 Another excellent story, and I hope we get to see more of Racine after she graduates.
Raine and friends find their usual trouble this semester. Madelyn is coming into her own and turns out to be a magnet for trouble. Looking forward to reading the next book.
