Copycat murders. Wren Delacroix doesn’t like them. They aren’t easy to profile, and this one is no exception. Whoever killed Oliver Campbell had intimate knowledge of a previous set of murders, and Wren can’t be sure who that could be.
To make matters worse, Wren isn’t experiencing her typical eagerness to solve this case. Instead, thinking about it fills her with a crushing dread that seems to consume her. It’s as if she knows that once she solves it, things will never be the same.
The trail of this killer sends Wren and Reilly tunneling into the past, to speak with Vivian Delacroix in prison, and eventually deep into the woods outside the compound, where they find a threat of blood and bone that spirals into chaos and violence.
V. J. Chambers writes about being inexplicably attracted to the dangerously alluring. Her works span mundane settings and fantastic ones. She writes about serial killers, cult leaders, werewolves, witches, for-hire assassins, zombies, space pirates, and regular everyday people.
She lives in Shepherdstown, WV, with her boyfriend Aaron and their cat Isis.
Wren and Reilly are investigating a copycat murder that might not be a copycat after all. Visiting Major in jail they find information pointing to previous suspects. Piecing together the past and the present with Hawk and other former members of the cult has Wren losing a grip on her sanity especially after having to visit her mother in prison to try and get answers. Reilly has a lot on his plate too with his demanding relationship with Maliah and his sons autism. Wren and Reilly are drawn into a cat and mouse with killers that puts their lives in danger in their quest to find the truth and real murderer. Edge of your seat thriller. Looking forward to the next in series.
An Ecstasy of Bones: a serial killer thriller by V. J. Chambers is an amazing story that I have read. This is book number three in this amazing series writen by a brand new author for me to read. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about thrillers, suspense and mysteries.

Another murder connected to the FCL but it seems a bit personal...too personal. Wren and Reilly backtrack to their first case as a (now clean) Major changes his confession and claims he is not-guilty. Wren heads out to tie up loose ends and leaves with a shocking discovery.
I was excited to finally see Reilly and Wren going to visit Vivian when she claimed she could assist in their newly developed case.
Lastly, a search in the deep back woods reveals all and will leave you with your finger twitching to hurry up to the next page. I some times cannot contain myself and I skip ahead just to scan the page for answers.
Without revealing a bunch of spoilers I can only say this book turned everything on n its head. The things that come together in this book make me glad I read the first two books but also leaves me wondering; where do we go from here?
This one starts out kind of quiet, and then picks up momentum until you are nearing the end, and you realize your heart rate is up and you have to eat up every word more quickly because you must see how it ends! Fantastic!
This is a wonderful series with well written characters that have depth and are believable. It’s the third book in the series and although reading them in order would be of benefit it’s not completely necessary, but it’s such a great series so why you wouldn’t want to read them in order I have no idea! The story and characters are perfect together, the plot has some suspense and drama that held my interest throughout, not only this book but the entire series so far. It’s a fantastic mystery thriller.

Wren Delacroix is on another case, only she notices it is a copycat killer. Someone who knows too much about the original killings. She also has a strange feeling about this case, that things won't be the same afterward. Another great story by V.J. Chambers. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from Booksprout.
VJ Chambers is very talented and as I have read her books for many years, she adds a quirkiness to her stories that I really love. This story is no exception. Riley and Wren are complicated but easy to care about. I am looking forward to more by this author.

Wren has the biggest puzzle still in front of her. The more she eliminate people the more it leads to a conclusion she can not stomach. Well written with characters that stand out.
