Have a destination wedding, they said. The mountains are so romantic, they said. They’ve obviously never been a runaway bride.
Olivia Love has it all. She’s rich, spoiled, and about to marry the man of her dreams—until she witnesses her fiancée with someone else, sending her on a little run. Down the side of a mountain. In her wedding dress.
When she finds a cabin in the woods, her relief is short-lived at discovering it to be empty. No phone, no heat, and no way back to her perfect little life. That is until a gun-toting mountain man fills the space and sends her heart rate skyrocketing.
Carter Fitzwilliam likes the simple things in life. His sheep farm, his privacy, and man’s best friend are all he needs until a smart-mouthed beauty in a white dress breaks into his cabin and threatens to complicate the hell out of everything.
Will these two opposites attract or push each other over the mountain?
DNF 10 % I usually don't rate a book if I haven't read close to half of it. But in this case it was so bad I don't think it could have gotten better.
The synopsis was good and got me excited however the realisation was poorly executed. There's so many great ratings about this book, I don't understand, have I read the same book as everyone else?
The caracters were really childish and the author was trying really hard to be funny but it was a huge flop on my end. It just made me cringe a lot.
Some examples:
"If I could make out - using tongue, of course - with this door, I would. But there would be splinters and that wouldn't be fun" My thoughts following this sentence consisted of a lot of questioning: WHAT? Why? I don't understand what i'm reading. What the fuck is this story? Is it supposed to be funny?
Another one this time from the mountain man: "Who in THE FUDGE-PACKING fudgsicles is this," HOW? How am I supposed to believe that a grown ass man talks like that? Especially since from the synopsis we are led to believe he is "the montain man" and from a romance standpoint a mountain man is not just a man that lives in the mountain but a rough, savage man, a manly-man (for lack of better words, sorry I don't have a lot of english vocabulary).
And the book is riddle with examples like these. I could not continue, it was pure torture.
It was so bad!! It felt like a 15 year old wrote this book. The characters were juvenile and weird. I don't remember when was the last time i read something as bad as this! Oh and i had patience only for 36 pages...
This is the first book of the Lost And Found series, but it can also be read as a standalone.
In this book we meet Carter and Olivia, who, at first, couldn't be more different! But sometimes people can surprise you!
Olivia Love comes from a wealthy and powerful family. Spoiled, she never knew hard work and always had people to do the most basic things for her, that is how she was taught to live her life. But the nice thing is that she was spoiled, but she wasn't a brat. She was just sheltered from the real life, so she never really knew how things really happen or that her luxuries weren't that common.
But, the hard way, the was forced to learn that life is not always sweet and flowers. There are mean and deceiftul people out there that will stop at nothing to hurt you and get what they want. And she starts to realize that on her wedding day.
Running away from what was supposed to be her happiest moment, she ends up seeking safety in an (apparently) abandoned cabin. Little did she know that in that very cabin, her life would change drastically, she would learn things she never even wondered about and she was about to realize what real love really his. Enter Carter.
Carter Fitzwilliam. The personification of grumpiness. Moody, reclusive and a hermit set in his ways. But also hard worker, loyal almost to a fault and willing to give help to whoever one who needs. Carter, the sheep farmer that is so much more than that. So much more.
At first, they seemed like oil and water. But as they spend more and more time together, they start learning from each other, adapting their beliefs and becoming more open to be a better version of themselves and also open to receive each other in their lives.
"We hugged for a minute and it didn't feel like enough. I thought I wanted to be alone (...) It took a beautifu woman in a wedding dress that passed out on my kitchen floor for me to realize that all I ever wanted was to be found" It was so sweet to watch them getting closer and closer, getting more and more attached to one another.
At the same time they were falling for each other, they were also lifting each other up.
And as the story kept going, we learned so much about them and it was possible to understand better their backgrounds and personalities.
It was full of giggles, sweetness, bacon (Olivia and Kitty says "thank you" for that) and sexy times!
The first book in the Lost & Found series by Elizabeth Lynx. Olivia Love is a runaway bride and ends up at a cabin in the woods. Olivia finds her fiance in a compromising position. The betrayal has her running and ends up at Carter's cabin. Carter has his own reasons for living in a remote cabin in the woods and having some spoilt brat staying there wasn't in his plans.
I'm not real sure why this story didn't completely work for me. It was hard to believe that Olivia, as spoiled as she was, could just run away with nothing but the dress she was wearing. And then no one in her family really looking for her. Little things, I guess, just didn't make this book click for me. It wasn't bad though. It had it's moments throughout the story. And I did manage to read the whole thing and that's saying something.
3.5* I have to admit, when I started this book I thought it wasn't a book for me. The writing style wasn't to my liking. But I decided to still give it a try and I'm glad I did. The book maybe doesn't have the best start (for my taste), but the story was a really nice read. So, I'm glad I kept on reading :)
So the story starts kind of cheesy and I was little unsure how this was going to go. The cheese was just part of the charm and added to how enduring these characters are. It sucks u in and pulls at you. This is a definition of opposites attract. These characters are so different but at the heart the same. It is beautiful to see them evolve and come together. This story is funny and emotional and the read is worth every word.
I don't know what to think about this book. Cabin Fever by Elizabeth Lynx is about Olivia, who run away from her wedding in the mountains after seeing her fiancé cheating on her. She finds shelter in a cabin in the woods, which she later realizes is home to Carter. Carter decides to help the woman, and both get closer over time.
I expected the book to be a solid 3 to 4 stars book. However, the beginning actually shocked me. I actually thought of stopping reading the book. Olivia came across as so incredible arrogant and also a bit dumb. She developed throughout the book, but still, she was so out of this world. I just don't like arrogant people. And then came Carter. What follows might be a spoiler: I just don't know what to say.
After I forced myself to keep reading, the book got slightly better. Olivia learnt a lot about life and she was eager to do so. But she still had so many prejudices about him and his life. I am just very confused. Also, I felt that so many scenes were underdeveloped. There was more potential.
I am just glad that I received this book for free. The book got better over time, but it was still not my cup of tea. The beginning just shocked me too much, I guess.
I have no high expectations as this is my first book of the author But quests what it’s turn out to be a warm buttery blueberry muffins , you know the ones that melt in your mouth with fresh blueberries that pop so sweet as you hand pick them from the local farm market And you enjoy it on your kitchen island with the whole Country decor , so you got what I mean.
But why I’m holding the last lone star to make it complete 5 stars ???? I’m back on the epilogue dilemma , it was ok but really ? So I know I got that perfect blueberry muffins but they don’t Served it with the popular black coffee that they keep mentioned on the story ( what a disaster- say it as Emma Thompson accent on love actually , knowing her husband giving necklace for his mistress and she got Joni Mitchell CD, not that it’s matter but indeed a Joni Mitchell CD & necklace would be 5 stars for the hubby right , fact that her husband cheating well it’s just sucked )
Nope. Can't do it. If I have to read the phrase "meat candy" and have it mean bacon one more time, I'm going to light these characters on fire.
The summary made this story seem intriguing. The execution took a flying leap off a cliff and died a fiery death before it got started. These two characters are supposed to be grown-ass adults, yet they acted more like stupid teenagers.
Olivia was a giant idiot. I'm surprised she was able to figure out how to dress herself without a maid when she didn't know what a can opener was. Or that sheep do not sound like snarling wolves. Or that she wanted to make out with a door (with tongue because of course) but she wouldn't because that would mean splinters. And her whole "I'm in Hell, oh wait, I've just been kidnapped and the kidnapper is going to lay meat candy (meaning bacon) all over his body and make me eat it off him because that's how he gets his jollies. But I'll do it because it's meat candy (again, bacon) but I won't let him get satisfaction out of it!" Or the fact that her father supposedly made sure all his children were trained by black belt martial artists and knew how to take care of themselves yet she had the survival skills of wet cement.
Carter had potential, I'll admit. He was definitely sheltered/a little naïve and I do wonder if the things his dad told him were true or if there were other things being hidden.
Do yourself a favor and don't give this a chance. Even free, it's not worth it.
This book for me was neither bad nor was it great. To me our heroine was annoying, from the way she spoke to how she acted, although I will say that by the end of this book I found myself liking her a lot more than I did at the beginning of this book. Also this book to me was a bit of a slow burn romance and normally I am okay with that but in this case for me it just felt like it made the book drag on. I will definitely read another book by this author, I am not the type of person who will read one book by an author that I don't care for and never read another. Maybe it was just the storyline that was a bit off putting for me.
Holy cannoli you have a runaway bride, secret cabin on a farm, hot scruffy farm dude and suspense plus romance all in one book you can’t beat that. This book is steamy and the chemistry is hot you won’t be disappointed can’t wait to read the others in the series!
Olivia Love is spoiled, rich and picks men who always use her for her name and wealth. When she finds her fiance cheating on her on their wedding day, she runs from the mountain lodge and finds a cabin hidden away. The cabin seems abandoned until she finds herself face to face with a mountain man, his dog and a gun.
Carter Fitzwilliam is sort of a recluse. He lives alone in his secluded cabin with just his dog, Kitty. He's a sheep farmer and wants nothing to do with the spoiled rich girl. A winter storm leaves them trapped together with no phone and no way into town.
Olivia grows so much in this story. She goes from the spoiled rich girl who doesn't even know how to draw her own bath, to a woman with real goals and dreams. Carter teaches her so much in the few weeks they are together. A little bit of drama and secrets about Carter's past leaves you engrossed in the story til the end. Steamy scenes and lots of laughter combined with the surprising twist make this a definite 5 star read!
If Cabin Fever is any indication of what to expect when it comes to the Lost & Found series, then just wow. I love Cabin Fever so much. The changes Olivia goes through as someone that is so spoiled she can't do things herself to being able to find a career that fits her in the end is wonderful. She grew so much in this book. You will really fall in love with her by the end. I love Carter. He may be a bit of a recluse but he is such an amazing guy. I love how he is with Olivia showing her that money isn't everything. Their is such chemistry between Carter and Olivia that will leave you fanning yourself a little here and there. He has this past they you just wonder about most of the book. The added twists when world collide will keep you glued to the pages. Seriously this book is soooo good. Elizabeth Lynx brings the sexy with a bit of the giggles that I absolutely love. Go one click Cabin Fever and hold on for the ride that is Carter and Olivia.
She ran from her wedding, finding out her guy was cheating on her. Of course it was winter and on a mountain and she wasn't thinking so she grab a jacket still in her wedding dress and took off in the snow. She fell and cut her leg and she felt like she had been gone for hours. She ended up at a cabin that looked like no one lived there. This is where the story gets good. As you read on you find out this girl and guy that she breaks into his house has quite the past and you will laugh and see why this author told this story. You will love it.
Elizabeth Lynx is a new author to me and she did not disappoint. If all the other Lost and Found books are like this I can not wait to read them. Olivia comes off as a spoiled whinny little rich bitch, but by the end you will love her because she is hurt by a cheating fiancee. Carter a recluse who just want to live in his cabin, you love to death in the end you will be rooting for them both!!
Yes, Olivia is spoiled.. but she wants to be a better person. I found her internal ramblings hilarious and come on... Who wouldn't want a Carter in their lives. The idea of stumbling upon a super hot reclusive mountain man definitely appeals to me and for all he starts off a total grouch the way he falls for Olivia is beautiful and very well written. I loved this book, well deserved 5 stars
This is book 1 in the Lost and Found series. I really enjoyed ready this book by Elizabeth Lynx. We meet Olivia while she is running from her wedding. She just happens to stumble onto a shocking scene and runs down a hill and finds a cabin. Carter likes to left alone with his dog and sheep. These two get stuck together because of a storm. Olivia has to grow up and Carter has to deal with being around her. I really enjoyed reading this story and can't wait for book 2.
That's were I need to start this review... Whoa! Elizabeth Lynx is freakin' amazeballs. So, I went into this story knowing nothing. Seriously, I didn't;t even read the blurb fully. So color me surprised the whole freakin' way through this thing. I love this type of sarcasm and humor. 5 stars!
she runs away from her own wedding and she finds a cabin she goes into it. it looks abandoned but she finds out soon that it has an owner. he and his dog takes care of her while she is sick. it is very romantic and awesome. I enjoyed reading this book
A witty, funny, sarcastic, romance involving an accidental meeting of two people thrown together who have to learn to trust before they can find the love they are looking for.
I really enjoyed this book and I giggled throughout it. In this book we have Carter the sheep farmer, Olivia the runaway bride, Kitty the dog, evil politicians, rich snooty people, hot sexy scenes, love and justice.
