Keeping Christmas

Rate this book
A promise made is a promise he’ll keep. Even if it costs him the woman he loves. . .

Professional bareback rider Gage Taggart can almost taste the world championship title he’s spent all year pursuing. When an unexpected injury sidelines him, he heads to his best friend Trevor’s home to recuperate. Little by little, he finds himself completely smitten with Trevor’s beautiful sister. But he’s up against a formidable opponent: brotherly concern. Reluctantly, Gage vows to leave Tally alone to keep from breaking her heart when he heads back out on the road.

Tally King thrives on her work as a nurse, until she ends up caring for her injured brother and his best friend on the family ranch. Between the two stubborn men determined to prove how tough they and the unpredictable antics of her loony aunt Marvella, Tally feels like her life is spiraling out of control. Or maybe it’s due to falling head over heels in love with Gage despite concerns he’ll leave her heart in broken pieces.

An uplifting, sweet romance full of humor and hope, Keeping Christmas follows an unlikely couple as they discover the magic of Christmas and the wonder of true love.

Shanna Hatfield’s 7th book in her Rodeo Romance Series, Keeping Christmas, is an amazing story about sweet memories, overcoming life’s obstacles, and true love between two friends. Delivered as always, in Ms. Shanna Hatfield’s sweet jovial rhetoric.

Tally King always felt at home and loved on The King Penny Ranch with her brother Trevor and her dad Ross. Although Ross wasn’t Tally’s biological dad, a fact she never knew until she was about seven, Ross welcomed Tally as part of his family, because to him, she was his daughter. Ross doted on her and had given her a loving home to grow up as a kid. “Anyone can be a father, but it takes a special man to be a Dad!” Shanna Hatfield truly incorporated this theme in this book.
Tally’s big brother Trevor welcomed her with open arms and never made her feel like she did not belong. Together Tally and Trevor have a bond that is undeniably special.

Now with Trever and Tally grown, following their passion and careers, their lives are about to be flipped upside down when tragedy strikes.
Gage Taggart is at the top of the PRCA standings, setting 3rd in the world in bareback, he has his goal of world championship in his grasp.
Tally can’t believe the crush she had on Gage when she was a teenager is still as strong now, as then, but as she spends more time around Gage, can she let her guard down and let him into her heart?
Gage has always just followed the flow of rodeo life, never a thought of settling down. Can his three weeks cooped up at King Penny Ranch and Tally’s presence in his life change his future plans?

This book will forever hold a special place in my heart, so special it’s left me speechless!
I was introduced to Ms. Shanna Hatfield books two years ago, as each year and each book passes, I am more and more grateful for her humor and romantic love stories she creates. She is the finest author with a heart of gold that shines through every phenomenal book she gives her reader’s.
She is one author that truly does rodeo and rodeo cowboy’s justice.
Thanks for keeping America’s sport alive in books.

A fun, sweet romance

Shanna Hatfield has written a fun romance, filled with the flavors of the West.

As a fan of the "brother's best friend" stories, I was excited to see the author had chosen to use this in Keeping Christmas.

Trevor, in perfect big brother fashion, didn't trust his best friend, Gabe, to not break his sister's heart. So he made him promise to leave her alone. Yeah right. Poor Gabe didn't realize what a challenge he had before him to not fall in love with the kind and beautiful, yet insecure, Tally. Their burgeoning romance was unexpected by both of them.

Aunt Mavie was such a fun character and added an element of humor that helped round out the story. The great love Trevor, Tally, and Gabe had for her and the kindness they showed her continually was quite touching.

I enjoyed seeing characters from other Rodeo Romance stories make appearances here. And I especially appreciated the way the author didn't try to re-tell their stories. As with other secondary characters, if you knew their backstories, the knowing enhanced this book but if not, it didn't detract from it.

The Rodeo Romance series tends to have a little more emphasis on physical attraction than other series written by Shanna Hatfield and has more intense kissing. Fret not! They remain clean, appropriate, and enjoyable.

If you enjoy cowboys, big brothers, romance and Christmas, give Keeping Christmas a try!

Another phenomenal read by Shanna Hatfield! I need to read every book in this series because I have loved the two that I have read. I'm never disappointed in a Shanna Hatfield book and this one is no exception, I highly recommend it! All SH books leave a smile on my face and my heart happy when I finish them and this book was one I didn't want to put down.

I just loved the characters Gage, Tally, Trevor and especially Aunt Marvella! I love a good rodeo book and this is no exception. There were times I wanted to shake some sense into Gage, Tally and even Tally's brother Trevor. Maybe Trevor more than Gage and Tally even if he was just trying to be a great big brother, Trevor is the one that created such a hard situation. I can completely relate to Tally because I had two overly protective big brothers. Don't let the fact that this is a Christmas book postpone your reading of it because the fact that it happens around the holiday's is just a small factor in the storyline. It's just one awesome read! If you have a big brother I bet you can relate to having a crush on at least one of his best friends, I sure can. It made me think of once when my brothers best friend kissed me and then he begged me not to tell my brother because he said my brother would kill him! He was probably right, so I didn't tell. It never happened again either. Lol Just read this book!

This was such an incredible book! I loved all the characters especially Aunt Marvella , she was a hoot. I have never laughed so much at reading a book as I have this one. There is so much to love, from the rodeo, romance, Aunt Marvella to Christmas Eve. This book pulled me in from the first page, my emotions went from laughing to crying and then just plain mad. Hatfield has mastered the craft of storytelling, every emotion was pulled from me in the pages of this story. My mind stayed upon the story even days after I read it, I didn’t want this book to end! I’m crossing my fingers in hopes that Hatfield will write Trevor’s love story next, I will be the first in line!

Love grows

It's tough when you fall in love with your best friends sister but made a promise to him that you would never start a romantic relationship with her. As Gage and her brother recuperate at home on the family ranch, Tali is their nurse. Gage is a man of his word and makes the most difficult decision of his life to walk away from Tali once they've grown close and kissed in the moonlight.

Her aunt Merv is upset because her nephew, Trevor, Tali's brother wouldn't release Gage from the promise sending him away and breaking Tali's heart. When Gage is the injured at the Last Vegas rodeo finals , the family goes running to help. Trevor ends up releasing Gage from the promise , but will it be enough? Another great story in the series. It's great of the author to weave the other couples into each book, bringing a cohesive to the series. I'm hoping Trevor gets a book soon!

Great story.

Aunt Marv is featured in this story of Tally, a nurse who stays@ the ranch on her off days g helps her brother. Her aunt is scheming & funny. Her brother can be a real dunce sometimes & proves his dunce skills in this story.
Her brother and his best friend end up injured after back to back accidents. Tally takes time off work to care for them. There are some funny scenes included.
Great story.

Sweet, fun and turbulent!

Tally is a nurse who loves her family. Gage is a rodeo cowboy who roams without a home. These two met as youngsters and later when Trevor, Tally's bother, was injured.

Gage, after visiting Trevor in the hospital, was leaving to go to his next rodeo. Due to an accident, Gage being injured stays with Tally & Trevor as they recuperate.

Sparks fly and misunderstandings occur.

Lovely HEA.

Gave me a warm fuzzy feeling

Each book I read in this series I say will be the last one- that I need to take a break and read some other authors just for variety. Yet, as I finish each book, I eagerly look to see which one is next. I’m enjoying getting to know the stories of all the characters and see them in the succeeding novels, not in a repetitive way but kind of like an update on where they are now.

I'm Really Enjoying This Series

I'm really enjoying this series and getting to know all the characters. I absolutely loved Tally and Gage's story. Tally has crushed on him for years but he's her brother's best friend. Her brother has made him promise to stay away from her which causes all kinds of problems. I really enjoyed watching them work through things to finally get to their HEA. A wonderful read.

King Penny Ranch and Queenie

Tally and Gage are very likable and very frustrating, especially Gage. It’s great to read about an honorable man and a hardworking woman. Although Gage is a little bit of an idiot. Trevor is the perfect protective, know-it-all brother, but you have to love him. And Aunt Marvella is certainly a hoot. This is a great fun romantic story.

A real page turner!I am really enjoying this series. Tally has had a crush on her brother' Trevor's best friend since she was a young girl. Just when she thinks she has finally outgrown him, he enters her life again. Little does she know that Gage, feels the same, but is honoring a promise he made Trevor. Will Gage be a promise keeper or breaker?

I wasn't a fan of Gage's opinion that people with weight issues, didn't care about their health and let themselves go.....

Other than that, the story was wonderfully written. I was great fun revisiting friends from previous books in the series.

I listened to the audible version. I love the narrator!

Keeping Christmas

I really enjoyed this story. Tallie was a nurse and her brother ran their ranch. His friend, Gage, was injured seriously in a rodeo ride. At the same time Trevor, tallie’s brother had injured his knee in a gopher hole on the ranch. Both were taken to their ranch to recover, making Talle their nurse. She fell in love with Gage. Enjoy their story.

Exciting story!

Tally has been in love with Gage since ten years old. Gage is a very special friend of Ralph's brother, Trevor. Year after year she hung around them as much as they would allow. The crush never went away. Now that they are older I wonder how they feel about each other. Very good reading.

Challenging

What could be better than having this series develop even more chances for adventure and rodeo love? Promises, careers, accidents and emotions cant keep love from surviving but maybe it does! Get a copy and read their challenges.

I love Gage and Tally's story. Tally's been in love with her older brother's best friend since she was 10. However, she sees herself as chunky and undesirable. Gage is a rodeo star who never wants to put down roots and basically living on his motorcycle. A delightful story!
