...Champion of Aros, God of Battle...

...Bearer of foreknowledge...

...A mythical third realm expert...

Jason had it all, and yet he still couldn't prevent his father's death. He didn't even have time to grieve as his mission took precedence over all else. Pressing onward was the only path. But did he possess enough strength to clear the tower, even with Roy and Olivia at his back?

The answer was obvious: only with humanity's best could he stand a fighting chance.

Yet as his actions influenced the world, the more things changed. Worse, his secret identity, Index, was in the spotlight for releasing knowledge that couldn't possibly be known. If the major powers of the world found him, they'd no doubt use torture to obtain his secrets.

A single mistake would cost everything.

He already got a second chance.

He won't get a third.

This is second in a LitRPG series that continues the story right after. Read in order.

You know what you are getting, and I mean that in a good way. Jason is still pulling hijinks, but has to deal with his low profile eroding along the way.

Milan does a good job keeping the pace and the interesting events going. And I'll admit that I started the third book already and am a bit fuzzy where the cutoff is so I don't have a lot else to say.

It's still five stars for interesting characters in an interesting situation with a fantastic pace. Also all the power fantasy you could wish for.

A note about Chaste: If Jason is spending any intimate time with anybody, we don't see it on the page. Also, it's pretty obvious Olivia is jealous when he looks at other girls and our boy Jason is completely clueless why that might be. I like this more than a little and don't care whether it develops into more or not as I think the author will handle it fine either way.

Notes:

Good narration & concepts. Unfortunately, inconsistent writing, bad pacing and too many summaries vs a plot unfolding.

This book was on par with the first installment of the series. But I felt that there was nothing that really stood out in this book when compared to the first book. It was all about grind and pushing for those higher stats and skill levels. There were some ooooh and ahhh movements in the book but those were a lot few in number compare to the first book. This author needs to add something to the series to benefit all the grinding that happens. Im not sure what that is but i feel like the story just needs something different. Overall this book was great and I hope the next one is released soon.

Amazing Story Telling

We find our time crossed adventurer continuing to kick ass and take names without letting everyone know how much of a bad ass he is. Things change in this book as the Gods finally get off their ass and surprise everyone with a new decision. With Monsters, new floors, and epic new possibilities, this book gives it all and makes sure you keep wanting to read. Have fun and Good luck!!

Pretty good

A pretty good addition to the series. I would say it is at least as good as the first book. Some of the book felt a bit rushed and the book seems like it the author didn’t have a natural ending in mind for this book so he just picked a spot and forced an ending by writing the last couple of pages in a different point of view.

But overall a fun read, I’ll be looking forward to the next book.

I can't get enough of this series

Honestly, this book is better than the first. It just builds up on what everyone loved about the previous one and expanded it to great heights.

Really digging the new elements introduced and the floor challenges.

I didn’t even realize I finished it until I finished it. This is a speedy series and I’m grateful for it. This one is definitely better than the last, but still faces most of the same issues. The narration has improved though, so that’s good.

2.5 🌟

Wow. This series is getting really good. The fact that the tower is 100 levels and every level has something different means that there are so many different worlds to explore. There are so many different ways for the players to get stronger. Jason has faced the first divergence in this timeline. Every God has a champion which means that the tower is now a grade 3 trial. This means that things are going to change. Monsters are going to be smarter, stronger, and better prepared. The rewards are also going to be so much more exciting. While Jason is focused on making himself stronger, he also spends a lot of time and effort making sure his team is strong as well. I can't wait for the next book to be released.

This was another great book in what is quickly becoming one of my favorite gamelit series. The prose is nice and clean with very few mistakes so the reading is quick and easy. That, combined with the pace of the story, turns this book into something that is easy to read in a couple hours.

The story continues to walk the line of giving everything I want from a story with a strong, borderline OP character while also doing plenty to demonstrate he's not even the toughest guy in town and he needs to stay sharp. This book was easily just as good and enjoyable as the first.

I would recommend this book for everyone whether they are gamelit fans or not.

Drop in quality

Glib. Insincere. Juvenile. Hackneyed.

There were several moments where the quality of writing noticeably faltered. Where a momentary joke or clever jibe took precedence over character development, or an ill-considered interaction weakened the narrative. As if you were watching a serious action movie and suddenly a bit of the blooper reel was on screen.

It’s not even about jokes. It was moments of bad writing that should have been edited out.

I still will look for the next novel, and even check out the author’s other work. But I hope a good editor takes a look at the next one.

I liked the first book, but the second was really great and I had a good time reading it. Shame it just flew by. The character progression is well written and I love the tower mechanics. The only thing that could have been better was the last chapter. Like others already said, it feels rushed and is awkwardly written. But all in all it was a fantastic story.
Im looking forward to the third book and while I wait I will read other books of the author.

Rise of the human pantheon

This was a damn fine book. A bit of a quick read. I really enjoyed the level progression and the fights. Character development was done very well. I heartily recommend buying this book. Cameron Milan you did it again!!!

Good continuation. I wish there were more books already, as I'd love to read this series from start to finish in a marathon run, rather than piece by piece, forgetting important details in between. One of the better litRPG series this year.

The division of Towers of Heaven into 2 (and eventually more) books is purely superficial; I don't recall the stopping point being particularly impactful to the story, and the author's skill as a writer certainly hasn't improved.

Jason raised his hand and clenched tightly. A wave of battle energy flew out from his body, cutting everything to pieces. Before Jason's very eyes, the entire world suddenly cracked before shattering into pieces.

If everything was cut to pieces, how did the world then shatter into pieces? This writing is like potholes on Story Road.

Every time Index posted on the internet, it was always on the same website; the most popular social news network in the world. This time was no different. Index's post was quickly upvoted to the top of the website, and was quickly known to every ascender.

Shout out to Reddit.

The ascenders whistled while staring at the sky. "No, no, we didn't say anything."

This level of cliche makes me cringe.

That said, everything that I wrote about the first book applies to this one. I am disappointed that I was recommended this series by someone who neglected to mention that it was incomplete; while I am enchanted by the world Milan has created, I won't be returning to it as new entries are released.

I've really enjoyed what I've read so far from Cameron Milan, and this is no exception.

We're back to seeing how Jason et al expand the guild slightly, finally pick a guild name, and start getting set up. Events are also drifting more from Jason's memories, so events will be a little less predictable for him.

Looking forward to book 3!

Book two

Mistakes: None found, but this was a short fast book to read.
Plot: More details on activities within the tower. A little base building.
Characters: New members are added to the group, and all keep growing.
8/10 The ending felt rather abrupt.

A extremely entertaining book.

I enjoyed this book and really look forward to reading the next book in this series. The pacing was good and the action scenes are well written. The characters are interesting and continuing to develop into strong unique characters in their own way.

Loved it...

Hated that it ended. The ending was slightly abrupt and while not a cliffhanger it still had that feeling. The wait for book three will suck.

What a sh*t of a final to this second volume. You cannot imagine how I hate it when authors hold ransom the main characters they create and invest in, like if they mean nothing. If they mean so little then why create them? Why build them up? The Demon Wolf and the U.S. Government always acting in the same shortsighted-exploitative-arrogant-naive manner. I do not understand why the author places so much importance in Jason's Dad's character. If the Dad was in a wheelchair still he would not have died. So why did the author create this character? As a motivation for Jason? Or as his main weakness? Same with the weak and naive Roy, how can the "main hero" be so freaking weak? What is the point of saving the world, if Roy is still taking everything like if he were playing a freaking video game? Olivia is a ghost, she is not srrong, she does not carry her weight in the group. Jason has 100 abilities and skills, and yet when he really needs to use them, the author doesn't? Why?
What is the point to showing off and exposing yourself if you are so weak. Roy is supposed to be stronger than anyone, and yet his personality is so full of holes that I do not know why the author and Jason (main character) are trying so hard to empower him, if he is about 20 years behind and is never ever going to catch up.
Author urgently needs to spellcheck his novel volumes before publishing them. Most of the O.C.D. (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Spelling Bee wannabee's focus too much on the form (spelling errors) and not the essence. To those annoying people I offer a simple solution (if you cannot stand spelling mistakes, listen to the audio books instead.
This volume 2, has 200+ pages and 45 chapters which means about five pages per chapter which is ridiculous. I'm glad the author didn't make a new chapter in each paragraph, unless it's one of those authors that charges for chapters like a lot of the web novel series.
I did not like this second volume that much. First volume was much better. There is no point to creating and stressing a competition and direct conflict amongst the Earthlings. They need to work together, not compete and destroy each other. Author enjoys the destruction, competition and betrayals because it generates "fake/cheap" drama. The more "drama" then the authors think that the readers are going to acclaim the novel more. It's fiction, the less real it is, the better it is. If authors wanted to create reality then they should write NON-FICTION. Most are so sick of REALITY they read books as an escape. Only to fall into tragedies like this Volume 2 novel series.

I was annoyed by the repetitive manga terminology and mannerisms that plagued this book.

There’s almost no female representation in this book, and the one with the most screen time is of course in love with the MC. She’s also clearly written to tsundere tropes. Olivia is poorly written. The scene after the tournament where she basically growls away other women was cringe inducing.

Questionable phrases pulled from Asian media that have no real western equivalent:

“Spat blood”
“Clicked his tongue” (to indicate displeasure, used TEN times in this book)
“Killing intent”
“Almost/nearly fell over” (to indicate surprise, but a very Asian concept. Used twice)

And this:

“Jason’s mind clapped with thunder.”
“The barber said everything so casually, yet Jason’s mind clapped with thunder.”

“Clapped with thunder” who the f says this?

Mentions of nationalities were slapdash, no real research into any cultures.

The soul awakening tea was stupid. All this hype about reaching the realms through hard work and then the author throws it away by providing a random tea.

Loving this series!!💜

The adventures continue. New alliances, new enemies and amazing levels of fun!!!
I’m really enjoying the way this story was written. It brings me back to my younger days when I used to stay up all night playing video games. Each level gets harder but the rewards are bigger. This is so much fun that I zipped through books 1 & 2 and now I have to wait for book 3. It’s so worth it though. The narration is absolutely amazing. Steve Campbell is a great narrator but in this genre he is phenomenal. He really puts his heart and soul into each character and next thing you know you’re so caught up in the story you feel like you’re there. This is book 2 of a trilogy. I highly recommend this book/trilogy. Book 3 is to be released early May, 2021 so go ahead and start now.

Jason the MC still climbs the tower and helps all to improve.
It is great to see the inner conflicts and thought the MC has when he meets people he knows from his first raise through the tower.
We have some more or less interestig but at least different level and stages. I personally was bored by the "kingdom" level that was more like playing settler. But the other stages and especally the tournament were good. Also more of a background story seems to evolve and we learn a bit about gods and masters and we learn that there is a mysterious "architect".
Good one and i hope the next installment comes soon.

fair and simple

The story goes one exactly like before.
It’s smooth to read, easy and simple. If you are (I’m sure you are) familiar with video games you know about the mechanics so it’s all good.

Don’t expect some amazing climax, or anything. Don’t expect a deep book with deep characters and a masterpiece of written language. It’s not that the first book didn’t warn you of course.

Personally, I wonder how this ends on next book.

Still this is satisfying to read and I don’t regret the time spent
